@HopefulB well I'm not sure just wondering my belly has suddenly changed ?! My friend said hers went the same towards the end so hoping it does just mean they've gone down but they were 1/5th at my appointment on Monday and it's only been the last couple of days I've noticed it.

Daffodil21 · 21/08/2021 14:29

@lucyrp mine changed shape near the end too but he didn't change position so hope yours hasn't either!

Of course it wasn't 'near the end' on his terms because I had an ELCS, but I definitely changed shape

Ready2020 · 21/08/2021 17:53

How is everyone? I had a pretty crap night of it with Rowan not really properly sleeping much. She had a big nap this afternoon and I should have had a nap but enjoyed doing some non baby craft things and watching a film.

PurplePansy05 · 21/08/2021 18:04

Leo is feeding allll the time today and unusually, he's been grizzly all day. I am thinking the growth spurt strikes again. I managed a short power nap this afternoon, I feltt exhausted. Think we're in for a long night.

Also he suddenly looks like a little boy, he's sooo much more alert too and I've had to retire some of his clothes already, he's so tall 😭😭😭 how and when did this happen, I was shedding tears over this! xx

Pretty rubbish too, to be honest @Ready2020. Mammoth cluster feeds (@Daffodil21 thank you for your kind and helpful and thoughtful advice on my other thread) and feel I’m not spending any actual time with the baby, I’m just eating, sleeping, feeding, pumping.

Thank hope your weekend improves

Daffodil21 · 21/08/2021 18:16

@RandomCatGenerator people certainly have some strong views about feeding don't they! You've got to do what's right for you. Happy mum, happy baby as they say!

I just pumped a full feed (4.5oz) in 20 mins. I'm so pleased - last week it was 40 mins for half the amount. I would have gone with full FF if pumping wasn't working though

sarah13xx · 21/08/2021 18:38

Majorly freaking out about some clothes no longer fitting him too @PurplePansy05 😢 I think things were fitting at the start while he was scrunched up but has stretched out now and they get nowhere near him

Daffodil21 · 21/08/2021 18:39

@sarah13xx @PurplePansy05 mine is already out of up to 1 month and is in up to 3 months because his legs are so long 😱 he's only 12 days old!

BertieBotts · 21/08/2021 18:45

I had to put all the size 50 (newborn) sleep suits away today. He wore one last night but it really didn't look right, the neck was all stretched out and that was the longest! So up to 1 month it is. DS2 chose this one :) that means he is already a size ahead of DS2 at the same age. However the size 50 vests fit so it's really his legs. And everything is a bit baggy still.

Also DS2 went straight into size 2 nappies whereas both DH and I said oh I think we may need size 0 as the size 1 seem too big. But at the shop today they had 1 or xs, and XS said up to 3kg so I thought that can't be right.

So I think they are totally different shapes! I guess we'll see what that means for hand me downs.

Due August 2021 - Welcome to the World!
Daffodil21 · 21/08/2021 19:06

@BertieBotts ours didn't even wear his newborn clothes! Good job we didn't get too much. He looks lovely a snuggly in that photo 🥰

Magik01 · 21/08/2021 19:22

@Ready2020 had a pretty awful night here as well. He didn’t go to sleep until around half 5 in the morning (maybe fell asleep for 10 minutes before he was awake again between 12am and 5:30am). At that point I was in floods of tears because I was just so tired.

He’s also grown out of his newborn clothes and up too one month is also looking snug 😭 I would recommend a memory bear/animal btw, I had one made for DS1 out of some of his babygrows and I will this time too.

BertieBotts · 21/08/2021 19:39

I started writing this on computer then had to go and do bedtime so this is in response to Ready's earlier question :)

I think my milk is coming in. We have been into town (I chose parking very carefully to minimise walking) to get stuff for DS2 to hand out in party bags at Kita on Monday, as it was his birthday on Friday (but with us coming home and all the baby chaos we have postponed it to tomorrow!) He was also allowed to choose a toy as he has some birthday money from an aunt. He chose a toy road made of kind of jigsaw pieces and some wooden road signs and traffic lights.

However his current favourite thing (apart from "Baby Awick") is the bendy bus toy with real opening doors that I got him "from the baby" so he has been playing with that a lot. He's been quite hyper and on an emotional knife edge since we left for hospital really. We are just trying to keep everything low expectation for him. He is back to nursery on Monday, so hopefully this will help as it will be more of his normal routine.

We have not really found a groove yet as a family of five. It will come I am sure but for now everything is just the next few hours ahead at a time.

Ready2020 · 21/08/2021 20:08

I'm away for a nap but will respond later on tonight. Really hoping for a better night (and for you @Magik01) I think my issue is to sort out the blanket arrangements. We've been stuffing them in the sides of the cot but she's so wriggley that they come out and I get worried she'll suffocate herself. My new born bag is on order so until then I'm going to try swaddling with arms out and hope it stays put.

lucyrp · 21/08/2021 20:12

@Daffodil21 4.5oz?! The bottles I have for OH to feed baby are only 2 floz 😳😳

RandomCatGenerator · 21/08/2021 20:18

@Magik01 what is this memory animal of which you speak? Sounds adorable - although we’ll probably keep Solomon’s clothes as my sister and sister in law may have more babies. I can’t plan that far ahead at the moment…

Your night sounds so awful, I’m so sorry. How old is he now? CakeFlowers

@Daffodil21 you give me hope! Currently a 40 minute pump is getting me 20-30ml, so the fact you were in the same place and can now pump so much more is my inspo for the next few days…❤️

May I ask about skin to skin - are you ladies keeping your babies clothed most of the time? Do you feed naked and does DH? I’m so worried about him getting cold but we haven’t really done any skin to skin and worried I’m missing benefits of it.

RandomCatGenerator · 21/08/2021 20:19

@lucyrp thinking of you still - what an ordeal, I hope your little one makes their grand entrance very soon!

lucyrp · 21/08/2021 20:22

@RandomCatGenerator aw thank you, I will say the last 3 weeks have been very mentally/emotionally challenging- something I never expected. Still can't believe I have gone overdue!

PurplePansy05 · 21/08/2021 20:28

@Magik01 Oh babe. Sending lots of love ❤ ❤❤ This sounds bad. It won't be like that every night though. We both know that this too shall pass, but for now I'm just sending you a big hug and a boost of energy - you've got this!

So glad you've mentioned stuffed toys, DH had the same idea and we forgot about it till you said now! We'll definitely get it done for DS for Christmas 🥰 I am living for Christmas this year, pandemic or not, I don't care, it will be so special anyway 🥰 xx

Daffodil21 · 21/08/2021 20:39

@lucyrp really? There's a reason he's already out of 1 month 😂 he doesn't always take that much but he does most of the time!

@RandomCatGenerator hang on in there! I hope yours has a boost soon. I feed with him clothed but I do try and do an hour or so of skin to skin every day, especially as he's not getting fed straight from my breast

Magik01 · 21/08/2021 20:39

@RandomCatGenerator this is what I mean, this is DS1 honey bear that his nanny brought for him made of his old babygrows. It’s a lovely way to remember when they are tiny. I’m pretty sure you can also buy them where they weigh what your little one weighed when born as well (mine is just a normal stuffed teddy though). The woman who made it does loads of different animals and bears and she has a page on Facebook called Memories are Made if anyone wanted to look at the different animals she does. Smile

Isaac is 15 days old today, hopeing for a better night tonight. Going to go to bed shortly to try and grab a few hours before DH brings him up for bedtime.

@PurplePansy05 thank you lovely! I know it will pass but in the moments of sleep deprivation and crying it’s quite consuming isn’t it! Praying for a better night tonight.

@lucyrp thinking of you and sending positive vibes to get baby out before next week!!

@Daffodil21 the first size mam bottles are only 2 floz 😦😂 I do have bigger ones too but in tommee tippee. Glad I got given the mam ones if that's the case 🤣 I have no idea how much DS took at that age as he was EBF, surprising isn't it!

@Magik01 fhanks, I have a sweep booked in Monday so hopefully that will do something if nothing happens before. We tried sex again before and in fore play OH said my cervix felt weird like it had disappeared and he felt something squishy 😳 don't know if that would be a head or my waters or what 🤣

Magik01 · 21/08/2021 20:41

@RandomCatGenerator also re skin to skin, I feed him clothes purely because like you I’m worried he will be too cold! I do feel like we are bonding anyway with BF so I’m not too worried.

Question for all the ladies with babies- how alert is your little one? I did a mini newborn shoot with baby today and he was awake for the WHOLE 2 and a half hours. It’s like he has fomo. 😂

BertieBotts · 21/08/2021 20:42

We only did skin to skin immediately after birth and I haven't done it since. Defo not feeding naked although my boob is obviously out.

When we do baths it will probably be with DH in the big bath on his chest so that will be skin to skin. But I probably won't do so other than that. I did it more with DS2 because we were struggling to establish breastfeeding and he was not very good at regulating his temperature and I'd read it helps with that.

Ahhhhhbisto · 21/08/2021 20:53

@lucyrp

Has anyone here who's been induced just had gas and air and no tearing cutting or other complications ?🥺
Hi, congratulations to all you new mamma's. I am not due a baby (3 already!) but have been following and really wanted to reassure lucyrp.

I had an induction with my second. 41+6 and had just gas and air and no tears or other intervention....he was 10lb 1!
Good luck to you all Daffodil

PurplePansy05 · 21/08/2021 20:55

I'm not feeding naked either. Sometimes I'd have him in a nappy and blanket for more skin to skin, or in a vest if it's warm in the house. We also do some tummy time chest to chest, I've started after it was mentioned on here and Leo loves it. DH is a skin to skin wizard, he goes in with DS when they have a bath and gives him lots of cuddles then. Afterwards they cuddle up skin to skin in DH's dressing gown too which Leo adores!

@Magik01 I feel you. I really know what you mean. I've concluded I just have to roll with it with no expectations not to be disappointed. Good day/bad day or night, whatever, just get through it, take every hour as it comes. It makes me cherish the good hours even more and doesn't drain my batteries. You will get through it, I promise ❤

Leo is so alert now. Big eyes, looking around, listening to sounds. Crazy. We had a photoshoot recently too and it was exactly as you've described, not quite the sleepy newborn! It's mad how quickly they've changed! xx
