Hi all 👋🏻

Here's a new thread so we can keep chatting through the sleepless nights and the many outfits they've already grown out of... 😄

@Lorna198 could be worth a try - thank you!

Roxy8203 · 05/11/2020 03:16

@Margo34 we have a dehumidifier and it does a great job getting the nappies dry, I'm really impressed with it

LatteLover12 · 05/11/2020 03:57

How's everyone getting on?

I'm currently trapped under a sleeping baby!

He's 7 weeks now & growing so fast, he's literally off the chart 😳

We're still BF and it's going really well. I'm feeding whenever and wherever to be honest. Yesterday was the cafe in John Lewis so I could do some last minute shopping before lockdown 2.0.

I've had to buy some 3-6m sleepsuits too!

Hope everyone is doing okay. My baby massage class has been cancelled so it looks like another month of enjoying the house! So pleased we can still meet up with one person outside.

@Lorna198 that's a great list! Also hoping to avoid things we don't need!
@roxy8203 good to know about the dehumidifier I've been considering one. How big is the room you dry stuff in? Ours is an open plan kitchen diner so I'm not sure if a dehumidifier would be effective in such a big space.

@lattelover12 glad you're doing well! J is just under 6 weeks and 0-3 are getting too short for his long legs (but he's not very wide!) 3-6 look huge! I'm the same breastfeeding will whip them out anywhere to stop him crying including on a bench in the park!!

Roxy8203 · 06/11/2020 09:54

@MooseWL we have the clothes in a bedroom with the door shut so probably more effective but I would still recommend one if you find one that is suitable for a larger space

@LatteLover12 I've not done any yet but have joined this Facebook group. The classes are all free

@Roxy8203 just wanted to say thank you for your suggestion of preloved nappies I got a small bundle of little lambs off Facebook and have bulked out my stash with terries and nippas to keep down the cost and we are getting on great with them. It's been nice not worrying about nappy stocks during lockdown. Although we only seemed to get panic buying here at the start of the week and people seem to have calmed down again now.

Bub is just over 6 weeks now, apparently this is when breastfeeding is meant to get easier? Well I'm still waiting Grin

Margo34 · 06/11/2020 21:13

@Roxy8203 do you mind me asking which dehumidifier you have?

Roxy8203 · 06/11/2020 21:20

@flameprincess ah perfect. Preloved are a great option. We hired a newborn kit from our local nappy library and they were perfect for him coz he was only 7lb
I'm so glad to be using reusables if people are panic buying again. And breastfeeding. It must be stressful formula feeding when people panic buy and stockpile

@Margo34 we have an eco air summit

Hi is there a Facebook or WhatsApp for this group?

ChipsAreLife · 08/11/2020 06:18

@LatteLover12 my little one is huge. He's been in 3-6 months since 2 weeks and we are about to into 6-9 at 9 weeks 😳 every medical professional can't believe his size. My back is aching and my god does he eat! But he's pretty lovely 😊

I'm still expressing but may do formula or mix from 12 weeks. He has tummy problems so seeing the paed dr Monday to discuss. Or rather speaking on the phone!

Had our 8 weeks jabs a few days back: all good. But the rotavirus has played havoc on his guts and he's been so unsettled with it.

Still feeding every 2-3 hours. He was doing one long stretch but less so this week so I'm feeling knackered!!!

How's everyone else doing? X

Sara7455 · 08/11/2020 07:23

@ChipsAreLife gosh that is huge! Very much the opposite to my tiny boy although he never stops eating either or that’s how it feels - he goes longer at night at least.

Hope chat with paeds doctor is useful. Poor little guy still being so poorly, especially with another rotavirus imm coming up. Hope his tummy is a lot more settled soon!

Massive well done on still expressing so much! I’m only managing 3/4 times a day now so milk is starting to dwindle, it’s so hard as he gets more interactive - no idea how you manage with demands from older children as well!

ShiningStarz · 09/11/2020 09:51

Thanks for the tip @Lorna198

@MooseWL Iv used dehumidifiers in small box bedroom and living rooms, work great just make sure doors and windows shut. I'd day your room be ok as long as no air getting in from anywhere. They are fab!

@ChipsAreLife did you give LO calpol before / after vaccinations? Ours are tomorrow & wed.

Our LO is almost 9 weeks! Just in 0-3 months clothes now! Like someone else said, legs longer than body so some stuff is short but baggy!! Vaccinations this week.

On aptamil now 100% of the time but I haven't ruled out going back to expressing now that LO will stay in bouncer etc on her own. Had her in the play pit yesterday and she loved it, not reaching for the dangling toys yet but definitely mesmerised by the shapes, colours and sounds. Smiling loads too!! Getting 3hr stretches at night now too. I'm starting to feel more human too.

How is everyone getting on?

OrDis · 09/11/2020 14:24

Mostly good here thanks @ShiningStarz! Audrey is 5 weeks now. She’s just started to smile which is so lovely! She’s been stuggling a bit with acid reflux but we are trying to control it by keeping her upright after feeds etc. We tried some infant gaviscon but it just made her poop rock hard and then she was crying trying to poo! Just can’t win!

kersh33 · 09/11/2020 16:15

We've just had vaccinations today. Gave her Calpol afterwards as she was pretty upset but seems happy enough now. Even got some smiles while we were changing her! 😍

We've had issues with silent reflux and gaviscon has helped us though she does strain a bit more when doing a poo than before. We have the Babybjorn Bliss baby bouncer arriving this week which should help with keeping her upright after a feed. At the moment I feel a bit stuck with her on me - looking forward to getting some time back from under a baby to get some things done. In between the feeding time and the extra 30 minutes, I'm lucky to get 45 minutes before it's time for the next feed during the day! Luckily she'll go a little longer between feeds at night! 😅

Margo34 · 10/11/2020 01:46

Also 5 week old baby here now and she's so fussy this week! Cannot put her down for toffee and she doesn't seem to know what she wants either when I try all the tricks to settle her. Had been feeling OK but this week I'm exhausted, and thr husband is useless too. He takes her for max 1hour of an evening but just follows me round with her waiting for me to tell him what to do whilst doing online shopping, laundry, cooking washing up and cleaning at the same time. Then he declares he needs his 'me time'. Except I'm not allowed any! He's driving me insane!!! Nights are even worse.

Help!!

ChipsAreLife · 10/11/2020 04:15

@ShiningStarz we just gave calpol after. We were advised to give three doses and it kept any fever at bay. He did cry straight after jabs but was quickly soothed. It's so hard not being able to properly cuddle and kiss with masks on!!!

@Sara7455 thank you! You're doing really well too! My girls are amazing and help out and understand I need to express. I do it ever three hours for 20 mins so it's not too bad. It's a boy of a faff but I think formula is too!

@Margo34 I have no advice. Mine is hopeless with babies and this is our third. I was trying to wash up all the bottles and my pump tonight before I went to bed (baring in mind DH doesn't help at night at all). I had my crap tv show on my phone and was excited to watch ten mins, after one minute he came in and was pacing around. Bugger off!!! I just want ten mins!!! He's the same about his time. But he's brilliant with the girls so I know he'll get there!!

We've had a five hour stretch two nights in a row. Torn between excitement and worry it's false hope 🙃

ChipsAreLife · 10/11/2020 04:16

@Margo34 have you tried a sling/carrier?

Sara7455 · 10/11/2020 04:34

@ShiningStarz cal pol has to be after vaccinations - nurse told me that if you give it before they’ll worry you’re masking an existing fever and not give the jabs. You can take it into the doctor’s office with you and give the first dose straightaway after though.

@ChipsAreLife thank you! We’ve started having to give some of the powder formula now and not just the ready to drink stuff and that is a faff. Think I’m getting into the routine of it now though at least.

@Margo34 you poor thing! Have you got the wonder weeks app? LO could be going through a leap this week which would explain the fussiness. I’ve not got a lot of advice with DH but I usually give him the option when he’s fishing for when I take the baby back “would you rather have him or cook dinner/clean the kitchen/ sterilise his bottles, because all those things need doing and I can’t do them at the same time” he either backs down then or does the household jobs for me so at least that’s those things sorted. Good luck and hope LO settles again soon!

Margo34 · 10/11/2020 05:49

@ChipsAreLife yes I've got a stretchy sling and a more structured carrier. Baby was in the stretchy sling pretty much all day and was even fussing in that, didn't like nodding off, cried, wanted head tucked in, cried, didn't want head tucked in, cried, wanted to nod off, cried, didn't want me to move, wanted me to move.

I've tried choices with DH but then get the 'ALRIGHT stop nagging!' response. It's a no win situation with him.

Sara7455 · 10/11/2020 07:44

@Margo34 lots of love your way. Very much hope the fussing is just a brief phase for your LO

ShiningStarz · 10/11/2020 15:46

@OrDis I hope your little one is ok. The smiles make it all amazing!!

@kersh33 my partner has take her in for vaccinations, she's to have some today and some tomorrow. I just couldn't face seeing her cry :(
I'm In the car waiting to give her cuddles

Oh no @Margo34 sounds like it's all a bit much for him, maybe sit down and tell him what's what 😂😂 he's prob a bit overwhelmed and your doing such a great job he thinks he'll leave it to you. Hugs

@ChipsAreLife as soon as they get back to cat, it's super cuddle time. Just wanna get home and get the fire lit and give her al she needs 🤗

Thanks @Sara7455 I read the book this morning and said same thing. Thank u

Chanel05 · 11/11/2020 02:13

@OrDis dd is on infant gaviscone for reflux - did they tell you how long your baby would need to have it? Mine is struggling with poos as they've been firmer and I'm conscious that is it fixing the issue short term as she seems to be struggling with the constipation unnecessarily if this is the case.

ShiningStarz · 11/11/2020 05:07

Midwife suggested we burp LO at least 3 times in one feed so breaks it up for her. Also I keep her upright on me for about 15 mins after each feed even at night. Touch wood wev not had any reflux issues 🤞

OrDis · 11/11/2020 07:51

@Chanel05 they didnt say but I think they are supposed to grow out of it. I’ve stopped giving it tho as felt the cure worse than the problem (the constipation). DDs reflex is mild tho

ShiningStarz · 11/11/2020 13:02

Wev been home a few hours post vaccinations. Little one has had one dose of calpol. She is fine and had a feed and is sleeping. We had smiles before she fell asleep.
Calpol every 4 hours and we'll take her temperature to look out for fever. Hope everyone's LO's are doing well xx
