I got BFP this morning six months to the day after my MC, only 12DPO but so happy. Please pray this one holds on!!!! I am due on June 1 according to OV calendars so have the pleasure of starting this thread.

Anyone else out there or am I the only mental person who tests this early?

Oh goingfor3 how stressful for you - it sounds like your consultant has experience in this though and knows what he's doing - and they are going to monitor you carefully - remember you always have the option of getting a second opinion. But it must be so distressing for you to have the secure feeling you had with the stitch before taken away. We are all here for you.

Welcome onetowatch - in my area you see dr. whenever you have had positive and then midwife at 9 weeks.

Hi Basilbrush - LOL @ pouring red wine down the sink - last time I was pg I was home for Christmas at about 6 weeks, we didn't want to tell anyone that early so I kept subtly swapping drinks with dp and he ended up completely wasted!!

Gmakes3 I had same thing - ds is 13 months and we had 2 years infertility then treatment to get him - we did want another one but was a total shock it happened this soon - dp keeps saying 'but I don't understand, we know you don't get pregnant easily' - I feel we were mugged by nature! LOL

I am a terrible mother ... was so exhausted I planned to sleep when ds had his morning nap then get us both up and out properly and do something nice - he did not have a morning nap! first time ever!! so he has spent the day watching CBeebies while I lay on sofa and tried to stay awake hope a few weeks of this will not have too lasting an effect, at least he is at nursery 3 days / wk so gets range of stimulation there!

systemsaddict · 10/10/2007 15:45

Also goingfor3, it strikes me that if your consultant has seen 3 or 4 women in a similar situation to you every six months for 10 years, and none of them have required an emergency stitch, that sounds like reasonably good odds, doesn't it? Did he give you a sense of the relative risks at all?

goingfor3 · 10/10/2007 15:50

systemsaddict he just told that that either way there would be risks but they can be quantifed as they don't know the condition of my cervix.
I wouldn't worry about feeling like a bad mother. When I was pregnant with dd2 I would often fall asleep on the sofa while dd1 watched cbeebies and was often woken up by dd shouting 'you're squashing me muumy@, it must have been terrifying for her to have a big fat pregnant woman falling in her!

PiggyPenguin · 10/10/2007 16:07

goingforthree, it must be scary to have the consultant tell you there is a risk of mc, but the fact that he sounds so competent is surely a really good thing? It sounds as if he is going to keep a really close eye on you in which case you will be in the best possible condition for a successful outcome. Think positive, I believe you'll be with us until the end.

Everyone else seems to have loads of symptoms so I#m starting to feel a bit left out. Occasional tingly boobs but not much else. Is this bad? Only 4+3, loads of time for ms to kick in

Kif · 10/10/2007 16:19

goingfor3 - you must be up and down like a rollercoaster. What difficult news.

nh101 · 10/10/2007 16:23

Sybil, I think we are just a bit ahead of you - I certainly didn't have any symptoms till 5+5 or so and with last pregnancy it was more like 8 weeks when I felt sick (only constipation before that )

Re. booking in, I went to doc as soon as I had BFP and see MW at about 11 weeks, scan is already booked by then. If you have had a previous MC then push for an early scan (I am having one at 7+0 next week)

Gmakes3 · 10/10/2007 17:54

goingfor3 not sure what to say, must be unbelievable what you going through, consultant sounds ok but get a second opinion if you still are unsure. Fingers x'd for you.
debinaustiaI know what you mean, can not help looking at double buggies. Am determined not to buy loads of new clothes this time around, arfraid the baby will be hand me down central.
systemsaddict sorry can't say your name without singing the FiveStar song. My dh although in shock is very pleased we have managed to make a baby au naturel, he didn't think he was capable!
Got to go dh not having success at feeding dd!!!

debinaustria · 10/10/2007 19:06

Systems addict - a few weeks of dozing on the sofa , cbeebies in the background isn't going to have a detrimental effect on your ds - a few years of it might!!
Dh and I are both at home so yesterday I went to bed for a nap - I said wake me up in 30 minutes, 1.5 hours later I woke up!! I obviously needed it!!

Children are programmed never to sleep in the day when you need them to!!

and at night as well

dylansluckymum · 10/10/2007 19:59

in a not-horrible-at-all way it is so nice to hear other mums struggling through what i am right now! i have no energy to play with ds, and i dragged myself out to take him to the park today and by the time we got there i had to pee so badly we left after about 20 mins! i am tired, grumpy, pathetic (what a perfect word to describe it) and just feel generally miserable. of course add to that the worry that something might be wrong and it's totally overwhelming!

gfor3 i am so sorry about your news but i agree it does seem like the consultant is experienced. it's so frustrating and difficult but unfortunately we can't control what our bodies are going to do. i just wish you smooth sailing with all my heart!

Rolf · 10/10/2007 20:01

Goingfor3 - how awful for you. I lost a baby at 19 weeks so I now find pregnancy a very nerve-wracking time. Would you want to get a 2nd opinion?

Systemsaddict - I might live near you. I'm near Lancashire

In my area we go straight to the midwife. When I'm ready to book in I'll call the surgery for a booking-in appointment with the midwife. The midwives here are lovely so I'm pleased about it.

I've been fretting that I felt completely normal, and today we were out and I had to sit down as I was really queasy and dizzy. What a relief

goingfor3 · 10/10/2007 20:04

Rolf so sorry to hear you also had a late mc, sorry for asking but do you know why it happened and have you had other babies since? I'm not going for a second opinion as the gynea dr who looked after me during my miscarriage was also in the room and he agree with the other consultant so I am going to put my trust into them.

Rolf · 10/10/2007 20:28

It was my 3rd pregnancy. I already had 2 children - normal pregnancies and deliveries. I had a lot of investigations but they don't know why it happened. The baby died in utero and all they could suggest was that, because she was a little smaller than expected for her dates, there was a problem with the placental bed.

I had my DD a year later and I took low dose aspirin and high dose folic acid - as I'm doing now.

I was really pleased to read kif's post as it summed up how I feel - this baby is in God's hands and whether it's life lasts a few weeks or 100 years it's still precious.

What happened with your m/c, Goingfor3? It's pretty scary, ttc with a dodgy obstetric history, isn't it?

Nice to know there's someone here who understands

basilbrush · 11/10/2007 09:55

Morning ladies - thought I was going to spew in assembly this morning, hooray!

Rolf and Going for3, what rough rides you've had, I really really hope it's OK for you both this time.

It really annoys me how the NHS has different policies in different areas. We should all get the same treatment!!
I'm really lukcy in that I've been told I can ring the EPU direct whenever I want and I could get a scan every 2 weeks from 6 weeks if I asked. But have decided to wait till 8 weeks for first early scan. Last bean died at 7+1 (though I didn't know till 10 weeks)and am really hoping to see something on screen that's got past that stage IYKWIM

Fingers crossed. Only 2 weeks 5 days to go till then!

debinaustria · 11/10/2007 10:31

Basilbrush - I remember that feeling, I was a teacher in my former life in the UK!! I had to have a supply of crackers and snacks to keep me from throwing up.Would be tricky to eat them unnoticed in assembly though.

Hope things go well for you when you have your scan

dylansluckymum · 11/10/2007 11:12

i just got the standard email for 18 month olds from babycentre as ds is less than a week away from that milestone. i was reading about the best toys to get etc. for what level they're now at and it just completely made me break down crying and i can't seem to stop. it's like i've become pregnant and now suddenly he's not a baby anymore and that makes me incredibly sad. my family have all started to say, Dylan and the baby and i'm like, wait a minute, Dylan IS the baby. oh dear i feel like i'm losing my marbles.

debinaustria · 11/10/2007 11:47

Just wait until you get baby home - if they're both in nappies - changing Dylans will be so weird, Stefan seemed like a giant when I brough Tristan home.

Deb

ps you're perfectly normal feeling like this

systemsaddict · 11/10/2007 11:53

I know what you mean DLM - there was a baby of maybe 8 months in the supermarket today, ds pointed and said 'Baba', v. pleased with himself, it nearly broke my heart! I think they are always your babies, anyway - at least my mum clearly still thinks I am

sweetbean · 11/10/2007 13:03

after moaning about symptoms yester day they have all stopped today i will be 8 weeks on sataday and am totaly freaking out HELP !!

goingfor3 · 11/10/2007 13:06

sweetbean sysmptoms really do come and go, you'll be feeling really rough again in a few days!

dylansluckymum · 11/10/2007 14:06

sweetbean my symptoms keep coming and going as well. one minute (or few hours) i feel totally normal and not pregnant, then the next (few hours) my boobs ache and i feel naseous. try not to worry! (believe me, i know how much easier that is said than done)

digitalgirl · 11/10/2007 14:43

Hi ladies - sorry to hijack this thread, but I've been lurking for the past couple of weeks hoping I can join you soon. Although have probably just jinxed it by posting

I am ttc (dg waves to familiar faces!) and waiting to test on the weekend. I've had a really weird symptom that i was wondering if any of you ladies have or had. Basiscally, I was checking my cervix position the other day and I noticed that the whole of my vaginal canal had gone completely soft (the cervix had gone up so high I couldn't feel it). Anyway, it's still really soft now. Not sure if I'm having a late ovulation (but thought I got it a couple of weeks ago when I tested +ve on an opk) or if this is because i was ill or if this could be PG symptom?

TwilightSurfer · 11/10/2007 15:18

Hello DG. How many DPO are you? Is your CM watery??

nh101 · 11/10/2007 15:41

Hi DG - don't know about cervix thing but I know my CM continued right from OV to, well, still now really!

I still think posting here is going to jinx my pregnancy and I don't even believe in all that. I just don't want to get into it here and then have to leave like last time and see you all go on and get all fat and then have babies like on the Sept thread

OP posts:
nh101 · 11/10/2007 15:46

BB I agree - was it you who recommended the Miscarriage Book by Lesley Regan to me? I have been reading it and it says that having "TLC" in the early stages of pregnancy ie being able to get scanned whenever and speak to EPU at any time, can mean up to 80% of people with recurrent MC have a healthy PG compared to something like 20%! Can't remember the exact figures but that is obviously why they like to look after us.

But it also says that the risk of MC with Clomid is 30% . I suppose cos if your body isn't OVing perhaps it isn't ready in other ways to have a baby. So making it OV will only mean the other problems kick in.

I am feeling positive today though!

debinaustria · 11/10/2007 16:52

Hi DG I got all excited when I saw you, hopefully you'll be here for real soon - not sure about the cervix thing - but I will check for you later and get back to you!!

The things I do for my friends eh??
