@DinoGreen already got perfect prep on my list and will look into angel care bath seat, thanks for the recommendation!

@Kinsters it was me, I'm not constipated but I'm not as regular as I normally am so maybe that's something to do with it?

@SleepingStandingUp oh wow! I don't feel so bad for wanting to start maternity early if they might come early, at least they can't be late!

Missmonkeypenny · 03/07/2019 10:19

Daisy last pregnancy, I worked in hospitality ( coffee shop come bar in the evening ) and I went off at 30 weeks. I was bloody shattered, my back killed and I am so, so glad I had the extra time off.

This time, I think I’ll go first week of December, using two weeks of annual leave first so I have 2 weeks of Mat leave before due date.

karryk · 03/07/2019 10:32

Morning ladies 😊 just had my scan and good news - definitely a baby in there and it was having a gentle wiggle (phew). Due date brought forward to 9 January...I'll blame that on all the McDonald's cravings I've been having 🙈

DaisyMay25 · 03/07/2019 10:40

@Missmonkeypenny yea I'm thinking 32 weeks isn't that bad, gives me plenty of time to not stress before!

@karryk great news! McDonald's chips are so good right now!

Missmonkeypenny · 03/07/2019 10:43

Karry great news! I think there’s about 6 of us due on the 9th!

Daisy definitely don’t want to be stressing! It also gives time to get all your Christmas shopping done when you aren’t completely massive and uncomfy!

beth3735 · 03/07/2019 10:47

@karryk I’m glad the scan went well. I’m craving plain cheeseburgers from McDonald’s, it’s killing me 😩😂

SleepingStandingUp · 03/07/2019 10:52

Got my screening results back. 1 in 398 for Downes for both babies but NT measurement was 1.5 and 1.2 so lovely and low, and I'm 37 so I know that affects it. 1 in 100000 for Edwards and Patau which is what I needed after DS and his wonky 18th chrosmome

@DaisyMay25 it depends in what your high risk is but was thinking if the risks increase at the end they may just pulget them out so def take the extra time off

Oh God I better start Xmas shopping if mine are coming early Dec!!

BowiesJumper · 03/07/2019 10:53

Re maternity leave, I've saved most of my holiday up this year, so I will take half of December off and the first week or so of Jan off as holiday, and then start maternity leave when the baby arrives.

Due to finish work when I'm about 36 weeks, which is what I did last time.

I work in the office most of the time so that's ok for me - would finish earlier like you Daisy if I was on my feet all day!

DaisyMay25 · 03/07/2019 11:02

@SleepingStandingUp that's some great stats though, nice and low risk!
It's because I'm ivf so I'll be high risk all the way through. So yea I'm gonna go off at 1st November using holiday then maternity when that runs out and just enjoy getting baby stuff ready.

I think I'm just gonna not Christmas shop, I'll be 39 weeks on Christmas Day so I don't think I'll feel like celebrating it!

mrscatmad31 · 03/07/2019 11:11

Have to have my blood test repeated because my B12 and thyroid results were borderline :-(

SleepingStandingUp · 03/07/2019 11:13

Ah OK, I didn't realise you stayed high risk all the way through Daisy

I have a 4 yo who wants a Paw Patrol bike, I def need to do some shopping lol

Cannyhandleit · 03/07/2019 11:14

I worked until 36 weeks with ds1 (high risk) in an extremely busy restaurant/pub doing lock ups and breakfasts, I was exhausted, miserable and in pain..... I really wish I'd left a bit earlier or atleast cut my shifts right down as it really wasn't worth it!
We were very lucky with him as both my brother and DP's sister had recently had babies so were gifted pretty much everything. The only thing I had to buy really was nursery furniture which I really stressed about getting a lovely expensive set and having nursery painted. We ended up moving house before the baby had even slept in his cot and our new house had built in wardrobes so ended up selling the furniture for a fraction of what I'd bought it!

A good tip for poo stained clothes is to hang them outside on the line even in the rain as the sunshine naturally bleached the stain out! Works every time for no cost.

Missmonkeypenny · 03/07/2019 11:17

Daisy that’s so interesting because I’m not high risk for having IVF! I asked about it at my booking apt and they said that IVF doesn’t make you high risk unless there’s other risk factors - I’m only having a consultant apt as I’ve requested one to talk about induction at 41 weeks instead of waiting until 42!

Hanraa1 · 03/07/2019 11:21

I am a mental health nurse but work with low risk people in the community and am clinic based, so people come to us rather than home visits. My team will be fab at cutting me slack towards the end and I'll prob just end up doing everyone's paperwork which will be fine with me. So I plan to use up my annual leave and not start my mat leave until my due date. Want to have as much time off when the little one arrives as I can!

DaisyMay25 · 03/07/2019 11:29

@Missmonkeypenny how strange! I've got a consultant appointment in two weeks because they've said I'm high risk, how bizarre! Perhaps different areas have different policies?

Soph43 · 03/07/2019 11:31

I’m going to take 2 weeks annual leave in December and break off on actual mat leave 23rd dec. as due on 2/1/20.. and I work in retail LOL! So miss two xmas’s 🥳

I say this but if it’s too much I’ve agreed to go off at beginning of dec.. but i sit most of the time so shouldn’t be too bad fingers crossed 😍

Kinsters · 03/07/2019 12:09

Daisy yes, I would say that's a good description - not constipated but definitely not as regular. It was amazing though how instant the relief was when I'd been. I've still got the tailbone pain but today's lower back pain at least was 100% bowel related!

I definitely won't be doing Christmas! We live in DH's home country and his family don't really celebrate so we'll just have a quiet one at home meal prepping lol. We'll celebrate Chinese New year at the end of January but that's easy cause you just have to stuff some money into a red envelope, no gift buying or wrapping required!

Victoriaaaaaaaa · 03/07/2019 12:14

Bit of an awkward post but I've got a school friends funeral next Friday and I have no idea what to get! I'd rather get a dress I can wear on holiday or something so I don't waste money on something I can't wear again with being pregnant now 🙈

Feeling so tearful this morning. Need to get some perspective I think.

We're getting married in September and I'll be coming up to 25 weeks. I went to see a seamstress this morning about whether they can alter my dress to fit and it was a clear no.

I am so so disappointed. Obviously I wouldn't have it any other way and am so so delighted to be finally pregnant but my goodness so have really taken it hard. Maybe it's the hormones.

It was the only dress I felt amazing in after trying so so many and perhaps I was deluding myself thinking there was something that could be done. It goes with the theme of the wedding - wild, rural, etc and is so different from your usual lace dresses that's why I feel so lost now as to what to do. I just can't imagine choosing an off the peg one. This one was so me.

I'm getting a second opinion and have another appointment in a couple of weeks time but will need to get my head round this and start accepting it I think and working on a plan B. Just so gutted.

Rant over. Thank you.

Botanica · 03/07/2019 12:25

@Victoriaaaaaaaa so sorry to hear about your friend's funeral. It's tough finding things to suit this in between phase isn't it. Hope you can find something you can get some more wear from. Maybe a wrap jersey dress which you can both accessorise up and dress down. It'd look lovely too as your bump takes shape.

winter138 · 03/07/2019 12:33

@Victoriaaaaaaaa I got a lovely black maternity dress out of next last week as desperately needed something comfortable for work. I'm only 10+4 at the min so you could definitely wear it after pregnancy! It's a lovely material and so comfy! Plain too that you could dress up or down. Only £32! x

Bluebelltulip · 03/07/2019 12:58

@Botanica sorry about your dress, I got pregnant with my eldest when I'd already got my dress and I was 35 weeks when I got married, luckily my dress style could be altered but I was worried about it.

@Victoriaaaaaaaa sorry about your friend. I needed to get a dress to fit me a few weeks after my DD2's birth for her funeral, I didn't want to get anything maternity so chose a dress loose fitting on my tummy so it's a normal dress and could be worn again if I wanted too.

Missmonkeypenny · 03/07/2019 13:07

Daisy they must do! I had to request my apt with the consultant! I think different trusts also differ on whether or not they’ll change and IVF pregnancies due date and when they do induction if you get to full term too. Madness! Why can’t there just be one rule!

BowiesJumper · 03/07/2019 13:15

@Victoriaaaaaaaa sorry to hear that.
Maybe something like this?
Is fairly cheap and suitabe I think.
I would probably have to wear a vest underneath so it wasn't too booby though!
New Look Dress

SleepingStandingUp · 03/07/2019 13:44

@Victoriaaaaaaaa what dress size are you? I brought a lovely ankle length black dress, Jersey fabric so stretchy, put pretty cap sleeves and a tie under the boobs. Perfect for funeral yesterday but will live in it esp as it gets cooler. However it was in the Plus Size section at New Look and I think thry start at 16. It isn't maternity.

Otherwise I'd look for something similar on ASOS or such.
