Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

motherofZ i have decided not to find out- was very tempted- but decided in the end to call it 'he' rather than 'it' to facilitate bonding: that seems to have made it easier for me to keep it a surprise- it helps that i don't mind what i am having.
All these girlies finding out makes me a bit envious, though i know i have made the right choice for me- something to really look forward to: the 'its a girl' or 'it's a boy' I don't want to miss

Ambi · 16/07/2007 13:04

Great news Pecka

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 13:28

MamaMaiasaura · 16/07/2007 13:57

not fair mad4girls you must!!

Thanks NBG

I think that i look fat tho rather than preg.

mixedmama · 16/07/2007 13:59

Awen,

I think you defo look pregnant not fat.... I havee found that wearing maternity clothes has helped me look more preggers rather than fat altho in reality that is what it is.

MotherofZ · 16/07/2007 14:03

Awen - defo preggers looking
Suey2 - those Olbas pastilles were bloody horrible, but have cleared up the congestion! (for now..!)

suey2 · 16/07/2007 14:33

sorry motherofZ! they are totally disgusting aren't they? But putting one in your mouth just before bed to slowly dissolve really worked when nothing else hit the spot.

suey2 · 16/07/2007 14:35

oo- awen, great piccies- be careful of your back-you look like you are arching loads- try and tilt your pelvis under more to protect it

skidaddle · 16/07/2007 14:38

hi mixedmama, congrats and welcome - my dd will also be 2,2 when this one arrives. 23 wks sounds a bit late for a scan - maybe you could ring and see if they have an appt for earlier??

awen - I can't see your pics properly - must be my rubbish monitor..

brilliant news pecka, especially after all the early worries, makes me think I'd like another girl too.... but a boy would be lovely too

kerioke · 16/07/2007 15:32

Afternoon all! glad to catch up on everyones day and to see lots of good news...

SUEY2 - excellent house news, but awful olbas advice, caught your post on my way out and now wish i hadnt! yuck! helpful though.

CLARAQ - i had an emergency section with my first after a 72 hour labour!! i just couldnt dilate past 4cm and in the end tylers heartrate plummettted. however i went on to have a VBAC with phoenix, 6 years later. they pretty much take it as your first labour cos in reality it is! especially if you went straight to theatre last time. they let me labour for 8 hours and then gave me a couple of 'sweeps' to really get me moving. because its a VBAC you are monitored pretty much throughout which made me feel quite restricted. and for that final hour i actually refused to wear it after a loo break and only let the mw hold it in place every 15 minutes.. theres something about labour pains that make the slightest restriction round your abdomen unbearable! i literally ripped off my pyjama bottoms due to discomfort. i wanted to be spread eagled and naked from chest down.. dignity out the window or what??

And if it helps anyone i am going for a VBAC again this time (once you have had a section every labour after is classed as a VBAC due to scarring) although i felt more pain during natural the relief as baby comes out is unbelievable, it all felt so natural and amazing, i was proud of myself and bonded within seconds ratehr than hours and the recovery time was a huge difference. my lo will be just under 2 when this one born and i dont want to be recovering form major surgery whilst running after 2 of them!

PECKA & BAGGIEBIRD - congratulations! big shopping spree's on the cards then girls?? cant wait til we find out this ones sex on 2nd august... times moving so slowly towards it!

MIXEDMAMA - hello welcome to the december thread... hope you settle in and have a giggle!

Anyone else sinking a big bottle of gaviscon a week? honestly I am really suffering with indegestion..with the boys i'm sure i didnt get it til later on... but it is a killer! this baby is gonna have milk running through its veins and be born covered in gaviscon!

Mrswizz · 16/07/2007 15:58

Motherofz, I can sympathise about the nasal problems - I'm suffering too.

Anyone else getting dizzy spells? After having a had check up at the hospital last week when I had no problems to report, this week I've been getting dizzy and also waking up with leg cramps every night. Annoying. Not worried about the leg thing, but the dizzy spells I am a bit.

macdoodle · 16/07/2007 16:02

Normal for preg IME due to increased blood flow and heart rate (I am medical) get your BP checked but try not to worry...
Got my booking scan thur at 17+1 hehe - had nuchal privately at 13 booked late and got a bit lost in system - wonder if will be able to tell sex or even tell me as supposed to be booking scan - wil then be due anomaly scan at 18-20??
We will see

Imawurzel · 16/07/2007 16:06

Gosh, i haven't been on here for ages.
Too many to read and catch up on. Will take ages.
Awen, just seen your pics. Your due the same day as me then.
I keep thinking i'm getting bigger with food, not baby .It's only 12 cm at the moment so why have i got a bigger tummy!!!
Why does it need so much space. grrr.
Then sometimes i think i'm not getting any bigger.
I had my bloods done on the 9th july.Heard heartbeat too. (have i already said this??)
Got my '20wk' scan on 15th august, i'll be 20+2 then and got my mw appt on 20th aug just to follow up i guess.
Hope everyone is well.

claraq · 16/07/2007 16:11

Kerioke - thanks for info about VBAC The continual monitoring does worry me a bit, but then again I am thinking of having an epidural anyway (unless it is all a lot easier than I imagined ) so may be lying on the bed reading a book while it is all going on!!

Good to hear you had a successful VBAC though.

kerioke · 16/07/2007 16:12

mrswhizz - dizzy spells are very common around 18 - 24 weeks, as already said may be worth getting your bp checked, but just try getting up a little slower and not standing for long periods.

as for the leg cramps, i suffered with these in my first pregnancy.. took mw's advice and lay with feet on pillow (above heart level) for 15 - 30 mins a day and leg cramps were history! its all due to circulation.

kerioke · 16/07/2007 16:14

oo claraq you have rasied a good one there... WHAT PAIN RELIEF METHODS ARE PEOPLE THINKING OF HAVING??

may be a while off yet but best be prepared ay?

i dont want an epidural as it didnt go to plan with my first, second was just gas and air... other than no to epi i'm not ruling anything else out! and who knows i may end up screaching for an epi anyway!

Mrswizz · 16/07/2007 16:27

Thanks Macdoudle and Kerioke. I'm sure I'll get my BP checked on wednesday when I have my 21wk scan. Will try the putting feet up thing.

Haven't thought about pain relief yet. Have no clue. This is my first so don't know what to expect. Might try for just gas and air and see how much I can bear.

Neuro · 16/07/2007 16:53

Has anyone on here had a totally natural birth? A friend of mine did it last year, said she sat in the bath at home for about 5 hours playing kerplunk with her bf and then got in the car to the hospital at the last minute and was really really good with all the breathing and had no drugs.

My step sister has had 3 natural births but she is a crazy vegan hippy!

the epidural stuff scares me, big needle, numb feelings...

mixedmama · 16/07/2007 17:02

I had diamorphine with my first and other than giving me ten mins shut eye was rubbish.

Went in the pool last time so am thinking of that again and would like to actually give birth there this time.

Got a bit addicted to the gas and aair last time so might avoid that too.

Definitely dont want epi as managed to avoid it last time and (apparently) second timme is easier so hoping to get away with it again.

Havign said all of that may well throw everything out of the window and demand every formm of pain relief going.

Going to be flexible.

mixedmama · 16/07/2007 17:03

Have to apologise for my terrible typing.

suey2 · 16/07/2007 17:22

I am quite happy to give it a lash without pain relief to begin with, I really want to be able to move around. But i am not going to be a martyr if it gets too difficult. My mum (allegedly) did not notice her first stage of labour and did not have a second stage over 20 minutes (4 kids), so I hope i take after her.
Mind you, this is the woman who did not wear maternity clothes until she was 8 months gone

mixedmama · 16/07/2007 17:28

Wow, if that happens I might end up with the baby in my arms by the time I get to hospital.

Is anybody hoping to get a private room at the hospital?

I have started a fund for my own room put a bit away each week.... i would have given anything for a bath and to still have had DS close by last time.
