Hope this works....! Here's hoping July is the month for

  • proper bumps not fat looking tummies
  • feeling them move!

we didn't tell anyone our chosen girls or boys name when i was last pregnant - some people were a bit taken aback but we just firmly told everyone "sorry, we're keeping them secret until the baby's here", and that's what we'll do again this time.

macdoodle · 11/07/2007 10:23

My grandmother died the week this unexpected baby was conceived (I adored her and strongly feel this is her final gift to me she lavished me with love and gifts even though I am a real sceptic)...so without a doubt Lily after her if it is a girl - her brother (my equally adored uncle) died in January so Joseph after him if it a boy - no other choices for me (and makes me happy ) Only discussed will be middle names (Joey maybe for a girl , male equivalents of Lily anyone??)...
My DD is a Georgia ....

Neuro · 11/07/2007 10:30

Good morning everyone

Today, I hug trees!

For the younger mums, honestly I have no issues with however young you were, and abusing benefits is not an age related thing in my mind!

My mum was a single parent too, with an acoholic violent (AKA my dad) ex husband who made life really hard. And she coped really well despite majority of other parents looking down their noses at her and having to put up with less than understanding employers. I think the way women were discriminated in days gone past was much like racism.

Anyway, it's not Soapbox Wednesday, it's Hug Trees Wednesday!

Everyone at my office now knows i am preggers and they are all really happy for me, got lots of hugs yesterday was great.

I'm going to find out the sex i think, but definitely not tell a soul as I want the surprise thing at the end for everyone.

Neuro · 11/07/2007 10:31

Aww Macdoodle that is sweet. I love both Lily and Georgia, really pretty names. I adore my granny too, and fortunately she'll almost surely be alive when i sprog this thing out, so i feel really lucky. Think i'll call her tonight.

suey2 · 11/07/2007 10:38

HAving said that, i managed to save my niece from the name Rae- so i guess that makes me a hypocrite. She is called molly instead which i think is much nicer

macdoodle · 11/07/2007 10:39

Think Lily and Georgia go well together - but after thinking it was girl now have strong feeling that it is a boy - my aunt who is sole remaining of that generation would be beside herself if we call him Joseph (her grandson had baby shortly after her husband died and I think she was very disappointed that they didn't incorporate his name at all)

buzzybee · 11/07/2007 11:31

I named my DD after a lovely great aunt of mine who died aged 100 so hoped it came with good vibes. I'm thinking about naming this one (if a girl) after another great aunt who was Alexina but everyone called her Lexi. I've always liked it but wander if she would be teased to death as in s* Lexi. What do you think? Also love Amelia and would probably use that as middle name or possible fallback first name Amelia Jane.
NO idea for a boy. Couldn't come up with one last time either and in the end it didn't matter. Ex wanted Austen (Austen powers! Austen car!). DD wants to call it Harry Potter!!!

Mrswizz · 11/07/2007 12:16

I'm half way through today! As if in celebration, I got a seat on the tube this morning, and a lovely lady from a new french bakery round the corner from my office came round with a box of croissants and pain au chocolat - they're giving them out to local businesses. Have just scoffed half a box full.

skidaddle · 11/07/2007 12:24

macdoodle - what a coincidence - dp's granny also died shortly after I got pg and she was also called Lily! We are going to use it as a midlle name though.

beachbunni- yes same with sex here - too tired and too much like hard work!

suey2 - think Hannah is lovely too

neuro - glad to hear you're hugging trees today!! hope I didn't offend you yesterday, it was all supposed to be tongue in cheek

Beanstermummy · 11/07/2007 13:13

HI Guys

Loucee - On Arran we camped at Seal Shore on the south side at Kildonan - excellent site, not too big but all the facilities and own little sandy beach for DD to play on - and hotel next door for DH! Went to Auchrannie for swim one day though when still raining and did comment why are we not here!

Not sure on the age thing but I'll be 36 when Button babe says hello - and yes feel about 96 at the moment. Any hints on hip/back pain - or more precisely right down there in the middle bit!! I know it's my ligaments stretching etc but getting to be pain in the bum (scuze the pun) walking up stairs and especially if I've been sitting all day (work, car etc). Trying to sort out to see physio but NHS slow as ever (only 9 weeks since referal!) Hopefully getting a support belt off E-bay as given up hoping for NHS. Any other hints - Suey2???

Smiley face though today as BMI have said they will extend my gold card benefits for over the usual 12 months (just qulaified for one) since I won't be flying around with work much in the next 12 months or so - and the lady on the phone was really nice and wished me good luck too - small things heh

5 days till scan now - Monday - yippee - not going to find out sex - keep changing my mind as to what I think Button is but really don't care - although all this talk about names has got me thinking! Love Lily though - DD middle name is Rose and had thought of Lily to keep flower theme going - fortunately no parental pressure really. Also really liked George until DD became obsessed with Peppa Pig along with her little brother George! And George from Greys Anatomy of course!!!!! Just glad I'm not a teacher as I know my sister (and parents) had a nightmare nto knowing any horrid children with names they likes before - she now has an Elliot and Dylan who are both jolly little monsters

Hope everyone else has a great day - ramble ramble ramble.............. ttfn

MotherofZ · 11/07/2007 13:50

5 days until your scan?? mine is not until 13th Aug

Beanstermummy · 11/07/2007 13:58

MotherofZ it'll come round all very quickly - promise. If you think back as to how quickly the weeks have gone since you found out you'll be shocked. Have you any excitin gplans between now and then? Holiday maybe? I've just checked your EDD and we're exactly a month apart - can't believe how many of us there are now - busy time back in Mar/Apr heh

  • can't believe this thread started in April - I was only 5 weeks when I first went on and now at 19+5 I wonder where the time has gone.
suey2 · 11/07/2007 14:01

hey beanstermummy, sorry to hear you are in hte early stages of SPD. I don't know if you saw my previous advice, but really make sure you are not crossing your legs and always keep your weight even on both buttocks/legs etc. And do the clams to try and get some stability- the description is previous on the thread. Also try a maternity or serola belt for walking (see physiosupplies.com) Think about getting a private physio to look at it as it can get much, much worse, even requiring bedrest at times and you need to get it looked at, like, 9 weeks ago. good luck

MotherofZ · 11/07/2007 14:17

Beanstermummy - Actually looking forward to 1st Aug - DH and I have decided to take a day off from work and leave DD in nursery for a few hours so we can have a nice day to ourselves. We plan to watch the new Harry Potter film (yeah), lunch and shopping. (Can't remember the last time I went to the cinema - must have been before DD was born.)

It's soooo hectic finding time to ourselves with work, DD and some nights am so tired I just want to crash out, so we decided to have an 'Us' day. Plus we know life will be even more hectic when the next one arrives so we got a couple more 'Us' days planned until Dec...
Looking forward to it , ....

Neuro · 11/07/2007 14:30

Beanstermummy: THIS might cheer you up -
It's one of my fav music vids ever ever.
Hope you feel better sooon x

suey2 · 11/07/2007 18:32

MotherofZ i am off to see the new harry potter tomorrow! My day off so i thought i'd get in there before all te kids break up.
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool- last night for the first time i saw my belly move as LO kicked/ or swung on his umbilical cord. Go George! He seems to have put on a bit of a growth spurt this week as my belly has grown very quickly.
Anyone else growing quickly?

Beanstermummy · 11/07/2007 19:48

Cheers guys.
Suey2 - will make an big effort to NOT cROss legs and have looked back for those exercises you said too. Also, have won on e-bay a promedics pelvic support belt so hopefully that will help.

neuro - V jolly vid - ta muchly. The song always brings a smile anyway as it's DH's usual drunken karioke choice

MotherofZ - with you on the flics thing - not been since 6th months PG or so with DD (must be Nov 04!!!) but yes, we do occasionally have the odd day or at least a few hours just DH and me while DD is still in nursery to chill and do adult things (Cafe Nero for long slow cuppa and read the newspaper tc etc). Felt really guilty the first time we went out shopping without her but over it now

Hope you all are ok and have a jolly night. Beanster is just about to go to bed (hopefully with no histrionics - currently having a relapse in the bedtime bit!) and then spag bol and TV for me.

mad4girls · 11/07/2007 19:55

not sure about me growing in size but think lo is having a growth spurt having to keep stuffing my face every 2 hours again like right at the beggining otherwise i feel sick only had pasta bolognase at 5 now im starving again, with regards to weight, i lost a bit at beggining wth sickness so have put on about 4lb on top of pre pregnancy weight if that makes any sense

buzzybee- i also had Amelia Jane in mind but love Amelie Mae but dp not having any of it, im going to keep working though

beanstermum- im not far behind you my scan is next thursday and your so right about it going quickly i cant beleive where the time has gone kids break up from school next week and dd2 is 5 cant believe how time has gone

Loucee · 11/07/2007 20:47

Evening everyone.

Suey A huge thankyou for your advice on transversus exercise in the other thread, I went to the Dr today and he said my muscles aren't any further apart than he would expect during pregnancy I am sure they have got a lot better since I've been doing those exercises (maybe I should ease off a bit now? I do them at least 10 times a day). He's referring me to a maternity physio at the hospital to keep an eye on me.

Mad4girls - the feeding forum on here is excellent for breastfeeding help. My 17mth old DD still has one breastfeed before bed so although I'm no expert I feel I've come through a lot of problems with the feeding and have built up a fair bit of experience - would be glad to help anyway I can. Regarding swaddling blankets I found the thin celluar ones were great (this is after I learnt how to swaddle properly!)

Yikes, I've put on 11 lbs now, feel like a right fatty!

claraq · 11/07/2007 21:36

Hi

Sorry can't remember who has written what but for what it's worth:

Swaddling blanket - we got a great one from Mothercare called the Miracle blanket, no need for any velcro or anything, just a little pocket for the legs and then flaps to wrap around the arms. It was a miracle!

Names - it was me who loved Emma as a name as that is my dd's name. Now trying to find something similarly classic but not too popular but struggggggling. Imogen or Megan???

Age - can i join the oldies? Am 38 at the moment, 39 in August. But was no way mature enough in my 20's to have children then so glad I waited. Am I mature enough now? No I don't think so.

Neuro - good on you for reporting your ex; I can't stand benefit fraudsters either. I don't work and don't claim any benefits not even maternity pay as I haven't worked since before dd was born. That pisses me off a bit as I have worked and paid my taxes and national security (what's it called?) most of my adult life. But because I chose to stay at home to work (eg childcare) as opposed to going out to work I now get nuffin.

claraq · 11/07/2007 21:37

Loucee - I have put on about 12 lbs

macdoodle · 11/07/2007 22:08

I'm an oldie too was 36 in Jun

macdoodle · 11/07/2007 22:09
