@Bobbiepin - - I got quite a few good things from M&S - quality seems pretty good, also picked up some cheaper bits from sainsburys - like some plain white vests in a variety of sizes

these obv dont come under the cheaper bits, but my MIL gave me these at the weekend - love them!

GimbleInTheWabe · 30/08/2017 11:23

Ooh I've not had that chart used @gracey1, do they use that to chart your bump size? As @mummabubs said I think the bump size is a bit hit and miss with accuracy so maybe try not to worry about it too much.

Has anyone else been ravaged by mozzies? At least I assume it's mozzies. I never get bitten really, DP usually gets all of them ha but today I've woken up with about 10 bites all over me and our sheets were fresh on 2 days ago as well. So bloody itchy!!

OP posts:
GimbleInTheWabe · 30/08/2017 11:25

@Cath1212 they are bloody adorable! Love the elephant one!

OP posts:
Cath1212 · 30/08/2017 12:16

I know, made me totally excited
Although I need to buy some more practical things, like a changing mat!!

gracey1 · 30/08/2017 17:52

@GimbleInTheWabe hi they measure length of stomach from just under bust to pubic bone every midwife appointment.

GimbleInTheWabe · 31/08/2017 09:24

Ah yes sorry I meant the chart @gracey1. My MW measures my bump too but I've not seen the fundal chart before.

Woken up with hundreds more bloody bites - wtf is going on?! I'm never delicious to mosquitoes!

Hey all, just popping in to say hi. Not much to report here apart from got growth scan on Monday. Am actually really worried now... bump still looks v small, although people are finally saying 'oh I didn't realise you were pregnant', 'when are you due' etc. Have to grit my teeth when I say October in preparation for the 'ahhh but your tiny' etc etc. IT'S BORING NOW PEOPLE!
bobbie for cheapy stuff, I recommend H&M (thanks to a heads up from a friend), I got quite a lot of stuff in the sale a month or so back, and they do sensible sizes like 1-2 months, 2-3 etc, rather than the normal 0-3 months which seems to be rather a large period of time to cover when they are that small etc.
Speaking of small, I panic bought newborn stuff from Tesco, and it is teeny tiny...!!! Seriously titchy. I will attach a photo of one of the vests with my hand for comparison, and I have very small hobbit like hands... oh and it's all blooming pink! Think I went into a mad spending spree and didn't pay attention to the colours I was ordering. It's like marshmallow world in our spare room at the mo. Luckily the other stuff we have isn't quite so vomit inducing.
Oh and to balance it out, we painted the nursery in the new house (not moved it yet), and went for a nice light blue that is almost mauve, if that makes sense. With some I like to think tasteful wall paper for a feature wall that has the same blue and some pinky bits in it as well. We have yet to actually put the wall paper up, as our relationship really was tested after my dp got paint on the ceiling door, door handle (despite my careful application of masking tape, dust sheets etc) and committed the cardinal sin of treading some into the new carpet. There was much hand wringing and possibly some hormone induced tears from me...
on a final note, I keep getting woken up in the night by excruciating hip pain on my right side, it's like a combination of cramp and the after effect of pins and needles that spreads from my bum to my knee. Anyone else get that, or got any good tips on how to get rid of it??

boxesoffrogs · 31/08/2017 16:47

Teeny tiny!!! Excuse crumpled duvet cover and pink explosion in the corner of pic.

October 2017 #5!
Bobbiepin · 31/08/2017 17:34

@boxesoffrogs I thought it was just me with the hip pain!! I swear I wake up like every hour and have to roll over it hurts so bad. If I made myself stay on my left side I wouldn't sleep, I feel bad that I'm squishing her but she'll have to deal with it. At the moment I am surrounded by pillows, last night I slept with a memory foam pillow and I think having a better alinged spine helped a bit, but not much.

That baby grow is so so cute. When they are that tiny it almost makes labour feel less scary. Not quite though, I'm still terrified!

Are you ready for work next week?

boxesoffrogs · 31/08/2017 18:44

Nope not just you!!! Thought I had dislocated my hip the first time it happened (about four nights ago), but alas, it seems to keep happening... tried my maternity pillow, tried thumping dp to get some sympathy, had to actually get up at about 2am and have a walk around to try and stop it. But no. Resigned to it being yet another one of those things... this morning I got laughed at by dp and the dog for walking like John Wayne. I've not been near a horse for months! I find it gives you a good excuse to spend a lot of time in the bath...

totally not ready for work!!! Although it's my fifth year at my school and I've been teaching for over ten years now (where on earth has the time gone???) so if I don't know what I am doing by now, I never will! Actually feel quite bad as growth scan is for mon, and that's an inset day for us, so had to email the head, yet again, asking for time off. So actually I am not back for long anyway, and with the amount of time I need off for appointments/nct, I won't be there much at all. But needs must, need to keep going as long as poss for that maternity pay! Are you ready?!

And yes, so so so cute! But I think
I overestimated how much I would need, ended up with 6 newborn sleep suits, 5 newborn short sleeve vests, 10 newborn long sleeved vests, two little cardigan things and some scratch mitts. Will leave some of it in the packets in case she turns out to be huge (obviously going by the measurements, no) so I can pass it on or whatever. All the rest of the stuff I have is 0-3 months and as I said earlier, looks massive!

mrsbumblebees · 31/08/2017 19:55

Let us know how you get on with the growth scan boxes but please try not to worry too much in the mean time, I've attached my growth chart so you can see the difference between the scan measurements (circle) and the fundal height (crosses). I've got my next scan tomorrow so will be interesting to see how baby is measuring two weeks on, fingers crossed all still looks ok!

Your decorating story made me laugh (sorry!) - sounds all too familiar with the sorts of things that happen when we decorate...! The best one was a few years ago when DH left the lid of the gloss paint tin on the floor and one of the cats ran through it before doing a few laps of our bedroom carpet. Washing gloss paint out of the paws of an angry cat is not an experience I want to repeat! (If anyone does ever find themselves in a similar situation, the trick we eventually discovered is olive oil!!!)

TheLegendOfBeans · 31/08/2017 19:55

Oh my goodness me, HEARTBURN. At 33weeks! Why now?????

Bobbiepin · 31/08/2017 19:58

No, not ready in the slightest. I'm teaching most of the same stuff but there's some new stuff and I'm trying to get all my managment stuff for the year done so I don't let my team down. There's just so much. I'll have Friday off for the breastfeeding session with NCT and then next week for an antenatal class and midwife appointment on the same day! At this rate I'll barely be in work.

How does your mat pay work? I get something for 40 weeks (the last 12 or so are statutory so not much). I've planned my dates so I'll go back the week before the Summer which will mean I get paid for the Summer holidays, my last day will be 6/10 when she's due on the 26th.

mummabubs · 31/08/2017 20:19

Oh I know @TheLegendOfBeans. I know. It hit me at 32 weeks, I'd never had Gaviscon before and initially rebelled as it tastes utterly revolting... 2 weeks later and I'm drinking it neat out of the bottle at 2am just to make it stop!! 😂🙈

@boxesoffrogs, hope your scan goes well, as bumble and others have said there can be big differences between the fundal and scan measurements. Funnily enough having been told I looked huge for most of my pregnancy I haven't put any weight on in the last month and people are now saying I look much smaller than my dates! Bubbabean is definitely still growing from the amount my insides feel stretched, just not sure where that weight is?!

PingusMistress · 31/08/2017 23:27

Oh the heartburn, it's a pig :( Sadly from what I remember of my last pregnancy, it only gets worse until little one arrives.

I had to wear a Tena Lady for the first time in my life today, as baby is thumping my bladder at random moments. And my boobs have started leaking. Pregnancy is so glamorous.

Boxes if you do have a baby on the small side then those teeny tiny vests may actually get a lot of use. My DD was 6lbs 1oz and newborn clothes were too big, we had to get some emergency tiny/premature baby clothes - and I found Tesco clothes to be bigger than most too! She didn't fit into 0-3 months until she was 3 months old. Small babies are easier to push out too of course Grin

Cath1212 · 01/09/2017 11:00

boxesoffrogs Bobbiepin

Solidarity with the awful hip pain, I have had it for the past 2 months and night times are awful. Cant find much which helps but sometimes I do take paracetamol before I go to bed which normally leads to a few more hours uninterrupted sleep!! Just plodding on until I finish work and then at least can have a nap in the day!

ButterflyGem · 01/09/2017 13:35

I've been at midwife this morning & they found a little protein in my urine so are sending it away to he tested. She said not to worry though as everything else ok. But of course I'll be worrying til I get the results😬 xx

boxesoffrogs · 01/09/2017 16:04

bobbie I sort of wish I had taken mat leave earlier, I am leaving on the 13th and she is due on 22nd 🙈 aiming to go back at Easter time so that I don't end up completely stone cold broke... ugh I have the back-to-work blues today.

Had hideous night's 'sleep', tossing and turning and sodding hip pain. Might try the paracetamol trick cath!

bumbles how was your scan today? Your chart has reassured me slightly, guess will just have to see what happens on Monday...

butterfly fingers crossed for you, I am sure it's fine! Although to say try not to worry would be hypocritical of me Wink

Been so lazy and just mooched around today. Really need to get out for a bit in the sunshine. Tomorrow is d-day, or should I say w-day (wall paper day!). Managed to rope a friend in, so I shall mainly be directing and no doubt worrying about drips of wall paper paste on my nice new carpet! we got some of those plastic sheets, they are utterly crap, and when dog manages to get in, despite our best efforts, she just rips with her claws. I have come to the conclusion that animals and decorating don't mix! Mind you, I sat down on them whilst doing the skirting, was wearing shorts, and when I stood up, the whole bloody thing was stuck to my arse, and ripped all the masking tape off that I had carefully attached to the skirting board. Perhaps it is me and decorating that don't mix!

mrsbumblebees · 01/09/2017 16:18

Haha, in my opinion decorating is best left to someone else, preferably a professional who will clear up after themsleves!! Sadly DH refuses to pay for any sort of work he thinks we can do ourselves. "We" are tiling the kitchen this weekend - god help us!

Scan went well thank you, baby still measuring nicely average (apart from its fat tummy!!) and bang on 50th centile line again on growth chart so no more scans booked for now unless bump growth suddenly slows unexpectedly. I expect bump will continue to measure small till the end now. Hopefully it will be a very similar story for you, but even if baby is smaller than expected it still usually isn't a problem, and at least they will be aware and can keep a close eye on you both. Will be thinking of you on Monday, let us know how you get on!

GimbleInTheWabe · 01/09/2017 18:36

Happy Friday everyone!
Glad the scan went okay @mrsbumblebees! I've got my 36w scan next Friday and I can't wait to see him again! My last scan was the 20w one so am expecting a very big baby.

My heart burn is so on and off and pretty epic when it flares up too. I've found not eating anything spicey or anything after about 8:30 helps. Managed to stay off the gaviscon thus far and now sleep in bed like a weird Victorian lady half propped up but it seems to keep it at bay.

Anyone doing anything fun this weekend?

OP posts:
TheLegendOfBeans · 01/09/2017 19:54

TMI question but please let me know I'm not alone...

So my sense of smell is off the chart and has been for weeks. But I'm starting to smell my own body odours and I'm actually revolted by my own smell.

I shower every day and have grillled DH to be frank if I whiff but he swears I don't.

I'm talking pits, lady bits, but also pants plus boobs. My boobs "smelled" when I was pg with DD but that was a mild salt and vinegar crisps aroma. This time it's different...more milky and sweet.

I'm on the brink of changing my bedsheets every day as I'm overwhelmed by my own smell.

Anyone? Or will this be the end of the thread? Confused

Bobbiepin · 01/09/2017 21:30

@butterfly did they say anything about your blood pressure? Hope everything is ok for you.

@mrsbumble I'm so glad your scan went well. How much can you really see at this point? My sister was talking about me getting another scan but the way she's sitting they would only probably get her back! Don't wanna spend a fortune on that!

@boxes I ended up in work today. I got loads done and I feel a bit less stressed about next week but at the same time I'm a bit pissed off at myself spending my last day of holiday working! Make sure you go back for the last day before the Easter hols and you'll get paid for those 2 weeks. Work the system as much as you can!
You have my sympathies with decorating, I don't think I could face doing anything now. So glad I bullied DH into doing the nursery early! He did most of the work but still, I helped with the painting!

@legend I'm similar but not that bad I don't think. I'm very aware of my own smells (especially my pants, sorry TMI) and very conscious about deoderant and washing etc. I'm not as fussed about bed sheets and stuff. I think milky smelling boobs is normal though, makes sense. I think I remember reading something about how the smell helps baby find the nipple and latch but I could be conpletely wrong about that!

greentreeseverywhere · 01/09/2017 22:01

@butterfly I had protein in my wee today to. (35+1) she wants to see me again next week and to just keep an eye on myself and rest up as much as possible this week.
iv had swelling on and off for a month but gradually over the day (I'm on my feet all day a work no sitting down) not sudden swelling which she was happy with.
iv had headaches to the last few weeks on and off but she said it would be an awful headache and is know something was wrong/different.
iv had no eye issues or stomach/rib pains
I am worried and over thinking everything today after my appointment Sad

mrsbumblebees · 01/09/2017 22:07

Thanks gimble and bobbie, it was really nice seeing baby again but I must admit how much you can see really varies! Not much fits on the screen at once and I think it depends a lot on position! Last time (31 weeks) I had an amazing view of baby's face, chubby cheeks and all, and got some cool pictures. This time (33 weeks) baby was very curled up and it took about 10 minutes for her to be able to measure the head, before we finally sort of got a glimpse of the nose and one eye! Other than that all I saw was lots of grey blurs! Seeing the heart beating is always cool though!

greentreeseverywhere · 01/09/2017 22:08

And my blood pressure was slightly higher but I'm so breathless I sort of knew it would be!!
