I spend alot of time laying on my side as this is the only position that I cant feel any pain.
Am I making it worse or impoosible for LO to move?

I spent nights on my side as that's how I sleep. Shouldn't worry about it - just try to chill out and take each day as it comes and deal with it when it happens. You're an experienced Mum and you've done it before - you'll be fine. x

There is one thing - you know your LO is back to back and you've been through labour before. So at least if things get really bad you know it's a particularly bad labour and can ask for pain relief. I didn't know DS had gone back to back until afterwards when the MW realised as he came out the opposite way round from how he'd been lying. He was my first baby so I went along with everything they said ie go for a walk, have a bath (owwww!), you don't need pain relief this early , etc. and didn't ask for help as I thought what I was experiencing was just normal. It was hell, so what I'm saying is don't be a martyr to it - if it's loads worse than you expect then get pain relief fast!

I had no idea that DS1 was back to back until I had delivered! Had a very fast labour of 5 hours and no epidural.I had a ventouse delivery in the end but I have to say that I don't think it was really that much worse than DS2 who wasn't back to back. But I guess that every labour is different!

Olihan · 22/02/2007 22:31

My ds2 was back to back and unengaged when I was a day overdue. I went into labour 7 hours after my mw appt and he was born 2.5 hours later so it's really not that bad, especially if it's your second. Don't worry!

I've been told you can turn a baby with acupuncture. No direct experience though. Scrubbing floors all day is supposed to help too!

Oh I do actually feel better now.Thanku.Im sure it will be fine.

my second was back to back and i was induced, it was really painful and slightly worsse than my 1st but i delivered her in 3hrs 20mins with just g&a and no stitches!

dd was back to back at 37wks at my check up I had a huge false alarm labour at 37+4.
M/w declared this was dd righting herlsef as she now presented ROA. She gave me sweep and dd was born in record speed and ease at 38+1
They can move at the last minute
Or someone else will have given advice on a back to bakc labour
Good luck, whichever way it happens it's so worth it

My 3rd was back to back. We got to hospital at 11pm and I was 9 cm. Went into second stage at midnight and he was born (screaming) at 12.50am having got stuck. No epidural but probably the easiest (certainly the quickest) delivery of my four.

This one was back to back at last check and I'm really not bothered.

nappyaddict · 25/02/2007 12:12

ds was back to back but i didn't know so he must have moved right towards the end of the pregnancy. they didn't seem worried though and it was a quick and not too painful birth.
