mum2oliver - I kept hearing about how epideurals slowed things down too, and I really didn't want one. However, sometimes when a baby is back to back your contractions don't achieve anything, which is what happened to me. They broke my waters and still labour wouldn't progress. My contractions were all over the place because baby's head wasn't in the right position to stimulate my cervix properly. I had the epideural and then they put me on a syntocinon drip to regulate the contractions. It progressed the labour and after an hours rest (when I was fully dilated) I managed to push her out without intervention - I did have the help of my Mum though who was tremendous (DH was knacked by this point and had fallen asleep on the waiting room floor he was there for actual delivery though) Do all your crawling on the floor and gym ball bouncing, after all it won't do any harm and might encourage LO to turn. Lo might turn in labour, but I would say don't be discouraged by the thought of an epideural. Good Luck!
