Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! From morning sickness in the first trimester to the third trimester struggle of getting out of bed ( "walrus-ing"in our house), to actual real babies who are growing so fast! Discussion on the merits of sleepyhead and Ewan the dream sheep.

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Not sure I had that feefs. I had gel? And when that hadn't worked after 6 hours I had the drip. My waters had already broken but no contractions which is why I was induced. Good luck!

Mileymoocow · 10/12/2016 21:41

How are others finding their sleepyhead? H seems to have filled it out width ways and it's unclipped at the bottom. He's not a super giant baby but I'm worried he's outgrown it?

PotatosMum · 10/12/2016 23:04

Miley aww, yeh it's sad retiring the carry cot as it feels like a big step but Arya loves her pushchair (she looks diddy in it) and it seems to be much more comfortable based on how often she drifts off when she's in it.
Cute photos Grin we have that baby bath but Arya doesn't smile so sweetly when she's in hers.
Sounds like you had a lovely day and I know exactly what you mean about you having the memory even if Harrison doesn't.

Arya seems to be growing like a weed. Her 3-6 clothes which hung off her a week or so ago now fit her perfectly Shock which means I've had to retire all of the 0-3 clothes Sad my baby is growing up too fast.

Sodasoda · 10/12/2016 23:27

We've unclipped our sleepyhead too miley. Alexa is under 25th centile so is a small baby and is 3 months old. It's ridiculous that they advertise that they'll last for up to 8 months! We're going to start and try and move her out of it so she's just sleeping in next to me cot. We're thinking we might try her in her own room in the new year.

Nev hope you're having a great trip away.

IndiX · 11/12/2016 06:39

Have a lovely trip nev!
*
Miley* we unclipped our sleepyhead a couple of weeks ago and Autumn is not even 10 weeks yet! She hasn't outgrown it yet but she definitely won't be in it for the 8 months. It's crazy that they sell it with that age range!

Feefs I hope everything is going well! So excited for the next thread baby.

I've been lying here wide awake since 5.15am. Autumn and DH are fast asleep but BOTH snoring. I can't complain as A has been sleeping through for a couple of weeks now but she is SO noisy in the night with her grunting and her dream cries!
I'm going to be moving her in to her own room in the new year too soda.

I've booked in to rejoin the gym today. I'm excited but so nervous for how my body will actually get through it and how it will feel the day after! It's been 10 weeks since I've done any proper exercise..I think I may throw up Blush

Canters15 · 11/12/2016 12:08

Thanks for info on combination feeding pink. I am slowly making peace with giving up on ebf- R is much more settled during the day but gets so frantic at night after a few hours of cluster feeding and I can't bear the screams- he took 4oz of formula before bed so clearly needed it!

Hope you're having a fab time nev!

Hope feef has a baby!

IndiX · 11/12/2016 12:54

Canters I've missed your post I think about combi feeding. Last week I started with A and it's going really well. A isn't fussy with bottle or boob and will take formula or expressed milk room temp or warm, which obviously makes it all a lot easier. I have been BFing through the day and before bed she is taking a 7oz (yes 7oz!!!!) bottle of formula. She's obviously just a little greedy guts as I know my milk supply is good but I think becuase it lessens by the evening it's just best to give her a bottle. I do express aswell but would prefer to save my milk for daytime if I'm out or at the gym etc. I just like to know she is having breast milk through the day and formula before bed. I don't know why, I guess it's just my little routine now.
as long as your baby is being fed then it really doesn't matter how you feed them. I was embarrassingly quite snobby about EBF at first but once the nipple pain started from A's oral thrush and I couldn't feed and hardly express I realised that formula is just as good and A is just as happy. So now she's BF in the day and one bottle before bed (also means DH can do the bedtime feed which is nice for him too).
Also the cluster feeding will stop, everything is a phase and now I realise that it makes motherhood so less daunting.

Sorry for long post!Blush

In other news, just finished my first session back at the gym and feel pretty good. Hopefully I can fit it in a few times before Xmas Smile

PotatosMum · 11/12/2016 13:26

Indi I shouldn't but I did chuckle at both DH and baby snoring. That happens here too.
You're brave rejoining the gym. I'm planning to join slimming world in the new year but I think chances of getting to the gym are between slim and nil.

Would anyone like to review their sleepyhead for my blog? I never used one but I know a lot of you swore by them.

We're off to Bath for some Christmas shopping tomorrow then we're going to a posh restaurant with OHs family in the evening as it's OHs birthday on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it, I just hope that Arya is ok as it's going to be a long day. She's just so well behaved though that I'm sure it will be fine (she'll probably be better behaved that some of the older kids that are coming if the past is anything to go by)

Canters15 · 11/12/2016 17:11

Thanks indi, that's really helpful. How did you decide how much formula to give initially? Just keep going until she was full? I felt the same about ebf but I am realising I have to do what is best for us both and that might mean striking a balance. R isn't fussy aboit temperature/bottle vs boob etc either which is good. I am considering expressing regularly to give breast milk when out and about as don't enjoy feeding in public.

Yay for getting back to the gym! I want to start exercising again in the new year.

Enjoy bath potato! It's such a lovely city, one of my favourites!

IndiX · 11/12/2016 17:29

Canters I was giving her about 5/6oz bottle of expressed milk most evenings anyway and the pre-made aptemil bottles come in 200ml (basically 7oz) so I just filled the bottle with that and saw how much she took. I do give her breaks for burps etc as I find she gets so windy with the bottle, she usually takes 30mins to take the 7oz and sometimes will fall asleep and then whinge for more! Once she's finished she is SO milk drunk Grin but she is sleeping straight through and has done since I have given her a night time bottle (my milk and formula) so I take it she doesn't need to wake as she's so full. Maybe try R with 4/5oz and then if he looks like he could carry on just top up the bottle?
I don't mind feeding in public but I do think it's a bit of a faf when I put the scarf over me. I wish i felt comfortable enough to just whip my whole boob out like I do at home.

Have a lovely time potato!

Mileymoocow · 11/12/2016 17:35

indi soda we've had ours unclipped for a while too. I think we just have lovely, thriving babas.

Harrison is between 50th and 75th centile on the normal chart. Midwives didn't bother plotting on the premature chart as he was such a chunk and gained a lot of weight quickly (18oz in one week once). I think he's over 14lb now and quite broad. What do you ladies think - is it time to put him in the pushchair attachment? I'm thinking so Sad

potato enjoy bath!!

Harrison has taken a 3oz bottle for the 3rd day running so my mum is having him Thursday and Friday evening for a couple of hours for us then my dad is having him overnight next weekend I'm totally not ready for this

PotatosMum · 11/12/2016 18:22

Miley he looks big enough for a reclined pushchair to me. Much bigger and he won't fit lengthways Shock

Nevlet · 11/12/2016 23:31

Flight home cancelled.... on the runway Sad

Feefeefs · 12/12/2016 05:57

Huge congratulations feef amazing news! Welcome to the world baby Anna ! 💗💟💗💟🍇🎀🌹🍦

Sorry I've been a bit awol. Dh back at work since last week so busy busy busy! L is amazing, but my anxiety is through the roof at the minute so trying to manage myself quite carefully. Being on house arrest (because we thought I'd split my stitches internally...I forgot I'd had a section and lifted a big heavy box and then ran upstairs, felt like I'd been shot!) hasn't helped.

And then L scaring the living daylights out of me coming up with a huge rash last week and then being sick everywhere, cue hysterical me and out if hours doctor. He was fine, I've not recovered yet.

Need to catch up, but has anyone prescribed iron tablets from the hospital found their baby had dark green swamp water poo? L had been pooing like that for a couple of days and it's freaking me out now. HV is coming at 9 am so will ask but I'm wondering if the connection is my iron tablets.

OP posts:
Nevlet · 12/12/2016 06:55

Congratulations feefs!!!

Stardrey I had the iron tablets for 2 weeks. Bodhi was EBF for the first 10 days then combi fed for about another week. His poos were fine but the mixed feeding may have been why.

Pinklily1 · 12/12/2016 08:18

Congratulations feefs! Lovely name. Hope you are recovering ok.

stardry, I had iron tablets too and baby poo was chicken korma coloured initially and then turned green, but that was after i'd finished my tablets.

AudreyBradshaw · 12/12/2016 08:28

That's what's happened pink lovely normal korma poo till two days ago, I'm supposed to still be taking the tablets but I stopped because I was so bunged up it was getting increasingly painful. And now, swamp poo for two days.

And I hope the HV is the non judgemental type because I stink and I haven't had a chance to have a shower today yet. And the baby isn't dressed because he decided he wanted his third breakfast during nappy change and now he's asleep on my chest and I want to leave him to digest before I try to move him.

Mileymoocow · 12/12/2016 11:02

stardrey health visitors expect it! They're shocked if you're washed and dressed in the first few weeks.

feefs congratulations!!!! How lovely! Just the news I needed this morning

Unfortunately one of the babies from my breastfeeding group has passed away Sad I'm utterly, utterly devastated and I can't even begin to imagine what her poor mother is going through. She suffocated co-sleeping. It's so so sad. Please hug your babies a little bit tighter for a little bit longer today Sad

LisaTheSimpson · 12/12/2016 11:02

Congrats Feefs! Such wonderful news, well done you! Can't wait to hear more x

LisaTheSimpson · 12/12/2016 11:04

My god, Miley, that's dreadful. The poor baby, and her poor parents.

I just don't know what to say. That's hugely shocked me, and I don't even know them. Can't imagine what you're feeling right now x

Mileymoocow · 12/12/2016 11:18

Lisa they always warn you of the risks but you never actually imagine it could happen. It's utterly devastating I keep looking at Harrison and bursting into tears. That poor mum is going to blame herself and feel so guilty. Such a lovely little girl - a week older than Harrison

AudreyBradshaw · 12/12/2016 12:02

Oh my god, miley that's my worst nightmare, that poor mum, that poor baby, and poor you. Hello teeth that's reduced me to tears so I can't even imagine what you're going through. It's made me sick to my stomach.

OP posts:
Canters15 · 12/12/2016 12:44

Congrats feef!

Omg miley. Am also in tears, that's utterly hideous. I'm so shocked, I've read so much pro co-sleeping stuff which basically says suffocation never happens, can't believe it. That poor mother. Am cuddling my squidge tight now.

marmitecheesetoast · 12/12/2016 13:04

Hi all, got back from holiday early hours yesterday morning, had a lovely relaxing time! Lots of lazing on the sunlounger enjoying feeling little one's kicks which are getting much stronger now!

Need to read the thread and catch up properly but just wanted to say big congrats Feef and welcome to the world baby Anna!!

Miley that's terrible, so awful and so sad, can't even comprehend it.
