Hey ladies,

Free hair cuts for life sounds like a pretty good deal ;) I was having twinges in one of my favourite cafes the other day and thought I could maybe get a life time supply of flat whites and delicious cake..

Today is the day my DD was born but I don't think this baba will be repeating the same although for the past two days well evenings I have had serious cramping, bump pain and been so uncomfortable but as my DD was breach I am not sure if this is just him being engaged.
I am very ready for him to come out though, this end part of pregnancy is no fun!! Although I do still need to acquire a tens machine from somewhere I loved it last time but haven't organised myself one yet.
In fact as much as I want him to be born there are still a few bits I should probably sort.

Today I have been trying to finish off some coursework for a course I did at work so have been procrastinating massively. Had my first week day nap and everything but really should get on before he is here!

Whoever said about the football my DH was also less than impressed but I always find these tournaments become more enjoyable once England are out, it is always going to happen so easier to get it over with sometimes I think.

I have washed my curtains and created a new household finance spreadsheet I think this may be my version of nesting ha ha anyone else with strong organising/cleaning urges?

Bluebell Happy due date! Flowers (eventhough it's now 00.15. Have you had it yet? Are you in labour now? Any baby news etc) between you and Elliz I about spat my drink out at the Sweep picture, trouser-dropping and 'shit sandwich' yesterday! Birth pool - not sure. We'd planned to deflate it as it only took about half an hour to inflate, but it's still there, looming like a sinister Haahoo #nightgardenliteraryreference

And primary I was going to mention nigh-on impossible backside-wiping, but you've managed it far more decorously than I probably would have Grin It's HARD!

MrsRolly I've ordered a TENs rental, off eBay for £21, 7 week hire, free postage/return. Seller is hi-baby or some similar twee nonsense. Should be arriving tomor, hopefully.

Beaut glad you feel better! Hooray for cake!

julfin bloody men and their nonsense! Glad you've cleared the air but I'm sad that you've had to deal with some less than ideal behaviour at what is such a significant pet of your life.

Hopes whassuup?! Any baby news?

Cookies hope your knees are still firmly together! I found myself thinking about your plug, earlier. Which was nice.

So today was a maternity leave day sans toddler and it was ace. I napped, snoozed, watched shit telly...oh no, sorry I got up at 7.15 to get said toddler to nursery, then I had a lovely breakfast in Costa and made appointments for eye treatments on Thursday (sure sign I'll go into bloody labour tomor, you just wait...). Sadly no lash lifting will be going on, as they only do some posh thing called LVL which costs £60 and I can't justify it. However, I'm having lash tint, brow tint and threading and I am happy with that. I then balanced my ultra-glamorous existence by popping into Boots for some bum cream and finally to B&Q for some plastic shower curtains to bedeck my new indoor pool area (aka homebirth mess containment strategy). I also bought light switches - ooh. From there, home - staying classy via McDonalds drive-thru for a McFlurry which - who knew? is almost impossible to eat while driving! And then - nesting trumpet fanfare, please (I see your curtain-washing and I raise you...) I removed and replaced the silicone sealant round the sink in the bathroom. And then cut the grass. And now I can't walk ConfusedBlushGrin

Night, birdies

SIGNIFICANT PART! Pet?? Wtf iPhone??!

Ellizardo · 29/06/2016 06:27

Dats - I am exhausted just reading that amazing account of your day. It was a real LOTR epic, with twists and turns/Heros and villains...and the moral? Being awesome comes at a price; but it's a price worth paying dammit. I am esp jealous of your ability to reseal the sink, my black mouldy grout and sealant stares at me forlornly every day...I tell myself I'll do it once we move house (3 weeks to go apparently?! Have site visit this morning).

Parents taking me out for pre-baby smart lunch today after said site visit. It's really kind as the smartest food I've eaten recently is of the MCFlurries/£10 meal deals category and I'm not sure my gut is happy.

At least it's sunny this morning.

Bluebell - did you paint that Sweep picture or did you download it from, erm, a 'specialist site'?! Either way it cracked me up! X

Bluebell - Love the Sweep Picture hehehehe! Grin

Beautician - Are we due on the same day? (i think there a few of us due next week).

Feel like I should be making more of this pre-baby time than I am, but I am really ready to meet my baby now. It took us 5 years to get pregnant and stay pregnant..... so I feel like I've been waiting for very a long time..... Im also getting irritated by the daily influx of messages from friends and family to ask if there is any news / how i am? / I hope she is here by [INSERT DATE] because....(i know its nice and i am just being grumpy!) but I am finding it hard to deal with my own impatience.

Bluebell20 · 29/06/2016 10:01

Beaut crikey, I hadn't even thought about the logistics of batch cooking for a larger family... You'd need, like, four freezers! Definitely too much effort involved. Did your walk help any? I went for a walk the night before last and on reflection I was a bit too vigorous in my stomping. Could barely make it downstairs in the night for a wee. But then maybe that's a good thing, and suggests that the baby had moved further south?

MrsRolly I've had going through my freelance finances on my list of Things What Must Be Done Before My Life Gets Crazy for about the last six weeks, and still keep putting it off, so well done to you!

dats haha, I had so many texts from friends yesterday about whether there was any baby news (bird, I hear ya!). Anyway dats you are the freaking queen of productivity and indeed of glamour; well impressed with your day. Particularly with the sealant replacement - I hate that job. I've just spotted a tiny bit of mould creeping along the edge of the sealant of our shower tray, which I only put in a year ago, ARRGGGHHHH. This is the issue with being blind as a bat and only going in the shower without glasses on - I never see this crap happening until it's too late. Going to bleach the shit out of it and hope for the best because there is no effing way I am replacing that sealant any time in the next, hmm, forever.

Elliz have a lush lunch. I would be jealous, but I have planned myself an all-day-veggie-breakfast extravaganza for lunch, including hash browns, which I may well eat from the comfort of my bed while watching a fillum. No, sadly I can't claim the Sweep pic for my own; I actually stumbled across it accidentally while looking up what a sweep is on Google. I found it most informative!

Bounced endlessly on the birthing ball last night while watching my first ever episodes of Game of Thrones. Don't think the birthing ball did anything for me, and I'm gutted to say that GoT didn't either! I was looking forward to being swept away in epic semi-fantasy madness, and actually it seemed to mostly be about people doin' it doggy-style.

Bluebell20 restlessness is a killer! Especially with all this rain I set myself major things to do like the gardening and then find out its going to be a wash out.

As for GOT Bluebell20 you got to get through some of the tits to get into the story. Overall its a really good show but can see why some don't get into it. I just finished Orange is the New Black after a 3 day binge for the last season. Feel a bit silly now but with the finale of GOT over I am going to go back and rewatch the Ned Stark's storyline (slight spoilage).

MrsRolly Do you know anywhere that lets you rent a TENS and take it away that day? I have been so disorganised and having booked rental on one.

dats sounds like a great way to start maternity leave… sleeping in and coffee.

birdandbee I feel your pain! My DD was a IVF baby and I was over 2 weeks late. The wait was killer… This time round we were lucky (after 2 failed IVF that clomid worked for us. I am due saturday and growing so impatient.

My consultation went well yesterday. Even though my steroids and meds for lupus and hypothyroid made me gain crazy amounts of weight they were happy that my blood pressure has always been perfect, I seem fit and healthy and aside from confirming some rules around a managed third stage I have the go ahead to avoid induction til the 12th of July. So birthing centre and water birth is a go, extra few nights at their post nat to establish (or try to) breastfeeding and sweeps start on Saturday.

Ooo! Ooo! Sharp crampy pain! Contraction, or do I just need to go the loo?

Probably the latter... God, I'm going to spend the next two weeks like this, aren't I?!

birdandbee · 29/06/2016 11:04

Photograph I bought a TENS in the end from Amazon as it was only £5 more than renting one.... they do next day delivery. Otherwise, I would suggest trying Boots (not sure if they do same day but worth a try).
We have had 2 rounds of IVF and had tried Clomid before that. However, this pregnancy was just IUI with no meds (Only IUI as my partner is female, so we used donor sperm). Sounds like we are both women who were told we needed IVF by Drs, but conceived with much less intervention.

Bluebell20 · 29/06/2016 11:06

photographer I've not watched OitNB either. Or Breaking Bad. Or the Sopranos. Or 24. Or anything else that everyone has said is good. I have genuinely never seen the original three Star Wars films. I like to think that this means I have some treats left for later in life!

primarynoodle · 29/06/2016 12:57

bluebell this is me - every bastard twinge = 3 hours trawling the internet "does xxxxx mean i am going into labour"

photographer im saving oitnb for mat leave!

Last day at work on friday which will take me to 39 weeks... starting to wish i had planned to work up to induction date as at home ALL i can do is stomp around impatiently waiting for labour!

TMI alert - had diarrhoea last night (badly) from 12.30am and up every 1/2 hours, its carried on til this morning although nothing is coming out now... for second time mums does this sound familiar? Otherwise i feel fit and well and no other cramps etc... dunno what to think!

beckslovestimmy · 29/06/2016 13:25

Sounds promising Primary I woke up with a jippy tummy in the early hours of the day I went into labour. Fingers crossed for you.

beckslovestimmy · 29/06/2016 13:26

Finally we have a name for our beautiful baby boy...... Benjamin John.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 29/06/2016 14:15

Becks what date did you have baby & what was his weight. I can't find it. He's gorgeous.

beckslovestimmy · 29/06/2016 14:45

Hi beaut Ben was born on the 23rd of June weighing 7lb 10oz. Smile

mascaraisamust · 29/06/2016 16:23

Ah bluebell hope things get moving soon for you, keep bouncing!!

mascaraisamust · 29/06/2016 16:23

Becks, love the name too!

tams13 · 29/06/2016 17:25

Lovely name becks.

Feel like I'm struggling to keep up with the thread a bit at the moment. Only two days left in work now and went for a lovely lunch with everyone in the office today.

Hope things get moving for the people having twinges/getting ready to meet their babies.

pulpi · 29/06/2016 18:20

Great name becks!

I'm dealing with a bit of name drama myself. I don't think we're going to change our minds about our baby's name (it has a lot of sentimental value to me and DH), but it will inevitably mark him as the child of immigrants. Last week, I didn't think that'd be a problem, and I know that up here in Scotland things aren't as bad as in some areas of England right now, but I hate the fact that I'm even contemplating whitewashing my child's heritage. I'm sure things will get better, but pregnancy hormones have my mind racing.

birdandbee · 29/06/2016 18:58

Becks Benjamin is gorgeous! Congratualtions Flowers

Pulpi I think you shouldn't be put off your name by the current political climate, if the name means something to you and your husband. Smile

julfin · 29/06/2016 19:24

Becks - lovely name - congratulations!

Beaut - glad you're feeling better! I'm getting my hair done next week - am disproportionately excited about it! Hope you're pleased with yours.

Rolly - free cake for life - now you're talking!

Wow - really impressed by everyone's nesting prowess!

Pulpi - I am totally intrigued re your name choice now. A quick Google search of "stereotypical Canadian names" suggests Gord Chinook. I do hope you call your son Gord Chinook 😉 (although I seem to recall that your DH isn't from Canada). Seriously though, I definitely think you should stick with your choice.

Bluebell - yes I'm like you - I don't like people fawning over me too much. But equally, I do expect a bit more than condom quips. Sorry to hear about your experience - and I can totally sympathise with how you felt especially at such a momentous time. It's really lovely to hear about the transition that your DH has gone through - thanks so much for sharing - I really appreciate it and am delighted for your sake too. I'm not anticipating any bump-kissing any time soon - but DH is at least seeming more communicative and involved in the last couple of days. He even came along to John Lewis on Sunday and made attemptedly-helpful comments like "do we need one of these?" at random baby-related items, which was progress! I no longer feel like I'm doing the baby thing on my own.

Dats - now I've got a hilarious image in my head, of you trying not to think about other people's plugs!

I'm looking forward to getting to know my Nct group better - they seem very nice and fun on the whole. We've got a dinner planned this evening, and weekly coffees for mummies/babies after that 😊 Have others on here started meeting up with local mothers-to-be?

37+1 Can't believe I'm officially full-term.

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 29/06/2016 20:00

Bird yes we are due on the same date 8th July? That was quite a busy due date day but Jem has obviously already had her baby. Yes lots of babies due next week. The number of babies being born may rocket next week lets hope so.

Bluebell I can completely understand how you feel. It's so frustrating especially when you go over but hopefully it won't be long now for you.
I haven't bothered with a birthing ball this time as last time I was on the stupid thing every night and in the day I was climbing up and down the stairs but he was still 3 days late.
My walk hasn't helped or my curry last night. I do feel that the baby is really low now. I'm seeing the midwife on Monday so hopefully will find out more then.

Photographer crossing everything for you for your birthing centre/water birth.

Primary it's never happened for me but I know a lot of people say they have a clear out before labour sometimes up to 48 hours before. I was hoping that my sickness on Friday may be the start of something but no such luck.

Pulpi I really wouldn't change your chosen baby name on what you think others will say be it through dislike or because of thinking people will see him as an immigrant.
For what it's worth my eldest two children are a quarter black. You can't tell with the younger one everyone presumes he is my DHs son as DH although white is very dark. However, my eldest has lovely curly hair and it's obvious he is a mixture of race. I've had to endure many a comment on the colour of his skin. Long before the whole referendum. Even as a tiny baby "ooh but he's got an Afro what colours his dad??". Some people are just ignorant. I can't stand racists which is why the referendum has upset me so much as of course not all leave voters but a small group have spoilt it and have shown their true racist selfs. I love all my boys they are all beautiful and I couldn't give a shite what anyone else says/thinks about any of them. I do make my opinions known to other people if they care to share their racist ones but I try not to get drawn into arguments. I get the same hassle because ds1 is also autistic and apparently I should learn to look after my child properly. Hmm

Julfin love my hair. It's growing now as I had it cut short a while ago. I just like to keep it in shape and my roots needed doing.
I haven't met up with any mums to be but I'm all ready with things to do and potential meet ups for September. So far I've signed up for buggy bootcamp, baby massage and baby yoga as well as a breast feeding support group.

Oh well no twinges or signs of anything here. I'm kind of happy now that I'll have a July baby as of course that's what I've expected all along. On Friday the boys have sports day so I'm going to go and watch. Plus I'm not sure what but will make plans for the weekend. Baby will come when he's ready.
