Went to the midwife this morning. Baby is measuring bang on 36cm and has stubbornly refused to engage. He's still sitting at the brim, the silly boy. I figure this means I'll definitely go later than 21 July.

Off to a Mothercare event this evening, so I should be making a list of last minute things to buy. Instead, I've just woken up from an hour long nap and am now contemplating eating all the biscuits in the kitchen. Clearly a better use of my time than making a list of baby clothes still needed.

36 weeks today.

Thom80 · 23/06/2016 15:59

you - congratulations! What a lovely name & I am pleased it all worked out. I had an EMCS so let me know if you have any questions.
speak - woo hoo, sounds like real progress. Hoe are things?
cookie - I would have been the same, I find uncertainty & lack of planning hard. Which is why I probably found Emilia's unexpected arrival so hard.
bluebell - I love the blanket. It has more than lived up to expectations.
becky - fingers crossed for you
Emilia is doing really well, but things aren't moving as fast. She is still in HDU and not feeding etc. She only weighs 4lbs & can't lose any weight which is hard. I am finding it exhausting splitting my time between her ward and mine, but hope that we can be together soon. Fingers crossed. She isn't 35 wks so hurdle are to be expected.
I hope everyone is well & have voted! I am feeling very nervous about the result!

Baby Beatrice!

July 2016 Babies (9) - let the babies commence!
YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 23/06/2016 16:09

Thanks for the well wishes. It's going OK - I'm a bit sore but nothing unmanageable. We're struggling a bit with feeding - she's majorly sleepy and I can't really get her to latch. She has managed a couple of times and then has fed well, but as she has been getting sleepier we've given her some top ups of colostrum and formula by syringe to try and kick start things a bit.

She's lovely though - like a tiny doll. Can't believe I'm her mum!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 23/06/2016 17:02

Cookies my others were:
Ds1 39+6
Ds2 40+1
Ds3 40+3
So I'm usually right near my due date.
Glad you have an induction booked it should make life a little easier for you.

Speak hope baby is feeding well soon. Fab news that you are together at last.

You sorry birth didn't go to plan but so pleased you have your baby girl here safely. Love her name it's always been on my girl list. So I'm glad someone's used it as I won't get chance now. She is so adorable and dinky.

Becks I can't believe you are ploughing on with things through your contractions. Good luck I hope all is going well.

Eliz I keep thinking oh this treatment needs to last until the 8th but I bet I go over.

I'm feeling fed up today. This morning I felt great. I walked ds1 to school for a trip, then ds3 to nursery, then ds2 came with me vote and then I walked him to school. I've been to collect ds2 and 3 as ds1 will be back later. Ds3 had his usual full on tantrum for me when we got home and he has been dry all day at nursery but wet himself for me. I just want to sit on my sofa with my feet up and eat cake Sad

birdandbee · 23/06/2016 17:25

Speak - hope the feeding improves. You must be so happy to have your little one next to you now.

Youandme - Congratulations! Flowers Beatrice, what a beautiful name!

Becks - Best of luck and look forward to baby news soon

37+ 6 today

mascaraisamust · 23/06/2016 17:28

Congratulations you! Glad baby is here and safe, hope you're recovering well!

Good luck becks!

Ellizardo · 23/06/2016 17:59

you - Beatrice is a stunner! absolutely exquisite and i love the rakish hat.

thom - have no doubt Emilia will pile on the ozs and lbs really soon. It's amazing how quickly they adapt. You seem to be keeping your spirits up and focus really admirably. hope the emcs isn't too sore. morphine all the way please with a snifter of prosecco if someone can smuggle it in!

bluebell - i forgot to add my sincere congrats on that blanket. it looks professionally done and beautiful choice of colours (she says staring forlornly at her empty knitting needles)

this time tomorrow we'll know not only the future of the country but also the future of beck's baby (I hope!)

Bluebell20 · 23/06/2016 19:27

Thanks Hopes, Cookies, birchy, Beaut, Cheery, tams, julfin, Thom and Elliz - and anyone else I've missed - re the blanket! The wonky bits stem from the half hexagons I had to make to fill in the gaps... They have made the edges of the blanket less straight than I would like, but as it will be tucked up around a baby I'm sure nobody will notice :)

julfin, my belly button looks really grim. It's not turned inside out, it's just gone totally flat, and the inside of it turns out to be brown (I am very fair skinned so this looks odd). I did take a pic to show you, but it's so gross I can't bring myself to post it!

Cookies exciting news about the induction! Lovely to have a date - especially as it sorts out your childcare worries. Any pox showing up in DD2 yet?

birchy that's great going on the cardigans! I also know what you mean about the sewing. I knitted a striped hat the other day and MY GOD the number of ends I had to sew in...

bird that's not very reassuring about the hospital, is it? You poor thing! I hope you go into labour on a quiet day!

primary you need to get thyself on ravelry.com for excellent free knitting patterns. But be warned - you will lose HOURS of time on there!

pulpi I far prefer knitting too, but granny squares are a fab way of using up odds and ends, as you say. I got the stitch 'n' bitch 'Happy Hooker' book to learn crochet - that and the Bella Coco tutorials on YouTube, which I would recommend! I too am napping for England, by the way. I just get into a state where my brain stops working and there is nothing for it but to have a quick zizz. I am basically geriatric, what with the lack of mobility as well...

Beautician your pampering sounds LOVELY. I may book a pedicure for next week if the baby doesn't come by then, as all this talk about feet has made me realise what a sorry state mine are in. How rude of the client who commented on your water retention, though!

Speak I'm delighted that you're in transitional - hooray hooray! Any news on how much longer you might have to be in?

YouAndMe CONGRATULATIONS! Flowers Sounds like a very tiring labour, but with a lovely reward at the end of it all. She is utterly beautiful. Love the way she has her little hands clasped together in the photo!

Thom I'm glad that Emilia is doing well. Hoping the feeding picks up soon. I am also really nervous about the referendum result - I thought about staying up for it, but then realised I could just check the news every time I get up to wee in the night, and that would do the job fine...!

Becks I am in awe of your productivity in labour! No stinking way am I going to change any bedsheets at this point, not even NOT in labour - I'm leaving that to DH at the moment! Good on you, and I hope everything is going well :)

My growth scan was fine - thank you for all the well wishes. Actually the baby was a little bit closer to the mean than he has been at all my other scans! His estimated weight at this point is 7lbs, so that's great, and the amniotic fluid levels are fine too. We had to wait ages for our appointment, though - they were running an hour and ten minutes late. The poor sonographer hadn't had a lunch break!

I also received a lovely random parcel in the post from my splendid MIL today - several pairs of pretty knickers, and a summery cami/shorts pyjama set. I rang her to thank her, and she said that she remembers her mum and MIL being absolutely useless when she was pregnant, and that everyone always forgets to do nice things for the mum in their rush to bestow gifts on the baby, so she was just making sure I was looked after. How sweet is that?! I am having more twinges of missing my mum at the moment than I have had in years - for obvious reasons - but I do feel lucky to have such a warm and thoughtful MIL as a stand-in!

AnnaT45 · 23/06/2016 21:32

Congrats you what an absolute babe and gorgeous name!!! You're labour wasn't miles away from mine with DD so I know you'll probably be feeling a bit sure emotionally and physically. Take care of yourself. Re feeding stick with it and get the midwives to help you. That's what they're for!

thom sounds like you're doing so well! And yah Emilia on the feeding. You must be tired. Have they given an indication on when you'll be home?

blue what a lovely gift! Sounds like you've a fab MIL

beautician I'm in awe of you looking after three and pregnant! You eat cake as much as you want!!!

becks hope you're okay?

Thanks for your lovely messages and anger with me!!! So we've finally exchanged! Hurray!!! Move a week today. Eeeeekkkk! I'm bloody bananas!!! Very excited now but need to get sorted.
My mum is pretty unwell still but she's having a blast of radiotherapy Monday to try relieve some symptoms. I really hope it helps her. I'm keeping positive and calm though.

Saw midwife today. Bub is breech which means they may end up bringing my section forward but we will see if it's still breech in two weeks and go from there.

Anyone else bloody boiling? This humidity is awful!!

Hope you're all well! X

dats · 24/06/2016 00:02

YouAndMe massive congrats on the arrival of Beatrice - beautiful name, beautiful girl! Well done. Although it wasn't the arrival you may have anticipated, the main thing is that she's here and you're her mummy regardless. Good luck in your new job!!!

Becks GOOD LUCK!! Is our referendum baby in or out?! Awaiting updates, you've got until 6am tomorrow apparently, get counting!!!

Speak that's brilliant news, really good progress! Lovely that he's with you.

Thom I'm not surprised you're exhausted. It's such a big thing when it's flippin' straightforward and you've been thrown in at the deep end. 4lb is good for 35w though - she'll get there. Hope you can get some rest.

Bluebell your MIL just made me well-up, damn her! What a lovely thing. And with you not having your mum around, such added poignancy. People are lovely! All sounds good on the baby front, good stuff. Blanket...where to start?! It's a beauteous thing, I love it. It's just so beautifully balanced, colour-wise. I can't see wonkiness, either. And I know how much work and love went into it (and carpals). Hooray for woolcraft!

pulpi did you manage to make it out of the house after consuming all the biscuitry?? What purchases have you made? Spill!

Beaut your morning was super productive! Are you feeling down about potty training and/or the thought of managing DS3 plus the newb? I'd wager you're just knackered and having a down day - I've only got one and I'm struggling, you're my feckin' hero, love! Hope you feel brighter tomor. How are your burning bits, btw?? It does sound a bit like it might've been a false alarm and it was just ('just'!) hair removal burn. Hope so!

Cheery hooray that the builders have gone! So is it all finished??

julfin agree about the bouncer advice. Although didn't exactly follow it as we got a Baby Bjorn chair which cost loads but was one of my favourite purchases!! Glad all was ok at your appt the other day. Are you doing ok, you mentioned things being stressful?

Cookies definitely get why you're happy about having a date! Glad all was good on the trace, little bugger! What's the latest on the cornpox (that really made me laugh, whoever it was that typoed it!!) - that's really a level of complication that you don't need! Ruddy germy childers!

Elliz DD has your moniker, and it's my middle name so I agree, You has made a fine choice! Get something on those naked needles. Seeing as I can't imagine finishing the blanket I'm knitting in time for the bebe's arrival, I may post a picture of the 20cm I've done so far so you can see how directly inspired I was by Ted's green one..!

Jem sending labour vibes! Nice, pain free ones, obvs!!

Anna just seen your update OMG CONGRATULATIONS! I'm almost more excited than if you'd given birth, fer chrissakes! Having only moved ourselves a year ago, I can well remember a similar shaky stage just prior to our exchange and nearly exploding with rage about it all! So relieved for you. Hope the blast of treatment makes your mum feel a bit better. And yes. Boiling and cankled - sleeping is shite in this weather!

Goodness this a right essay, sorry! All ok here. Started on iron tablets after my Spatone fail. And also on some variation of Movicol to counteract the inevitable. Have also caved and started taking ranitidine at night for indigestion (every time I type that my phone corrects it to 'indignation'! I'd quite like a pill for when I'm Outraged of East Sussex!!). I can manage it in the day but at night I was swigging Vomiscon every couple of hours. Anyway, seems to be doing the trick. I got my work friend to be my drugs mule and go to the pharmacy in case they refused to sell it to me!!

What else..? Oh I finished work today. Got night-feeding snacks, flowers and a voucher for a treatment room, which I was really surprised by, given it's the second time my team have forked out for my family choices. So I will use that for unpigletting my eyes - although Beaut you've made me want a lash lift now and this place doesn't do them, rar!! It was weird going on mat leave a second time. Definitely more low key: I already work part time, so being home in the week isn't the big deal it was. There's no sense of 'ahhh, let me lay on the sofa, knitting all day' because I still have a demanding 2 year old. Not saying it's a bad thing - just different. Nicer in some ways, I guess. Tomor I'm spending the day with a v good NCT friend and we're having pedicures and lunch and I can't tell you how excited I am! I've never had a pedicure - I'm such a lame ass grown up!! We're going to a v cool looking vintage salon and she chose and booked it for us, which made it even nicer.

Tomor eve I'm picking up the birth pool from another lovely friend and we're going out for some food.

Hopefully it will make up for the fact that we still have no kitchen and next week my mat leave will consist of dates at home with a weird, overly serious, beardy electrician and a very lovely, friendly emo plumber. I have made peace with the fact that the kitchen ain't gonna be done by the time we're a family of four but you know what? It's fine! I don't quite know who I am anymore (#virgocontrolfreak) but I am just focusing on controlling the things I can control, like big pants, birth pool, ordering DP around to do the laundry and bring me ice cream, ordering things we don't really need (sleepsuits) from John Lewis clearance and making sure as far as I can that DD is vaguely prepared that I'm about to ruin her life - as well as my own, willingly and intentionally - for a second time!!!!

Ooh good grief that Newcastle result is VERY CLOSE, eep!

dats, 36+4 / 36st+4lbs

beckslovestimmy · 24/06/2016 00:25

Well...... baby boy born at 18:53 weighing in at 7lb 10oz. No name as yet. Forgot how bloody painful labour is but managed with TENS and gas and air. He's fast asleep in the cot next to me and I just can switch off. What an amazing day. He's perfect.

dats · 24/06/2016 00:56

Hooray, hooray! Well done becks! That sounds pretty bloody good to me! Hope he carries on snoozing and you can get some rest, too - big congrats! xx

julfin · 24/06/2016 01:47

Congratulations Becks! Fantastic news! Well done you. Hope you're getting some rest now. Looking forward to the name and photos Smile

primarynoodle · 24/06/2016 04:00

Congrats becks :) im definitely not crazy jealous! Wink do we have a name yet??

tams13 · 24/06/2016 06:22

Congratulations becks! Pleased he's arrived for you. We're really on a baby roll now.

bluebell that's so lovely of your mil! Little thing but it must mean so much. Glad the growth scan went well too.

anna eeee! Finally! Busy week ahead now with all the packing but at least the buyers have pulled their fingers out. Hope you don't tire yourself out too much with house stuff before the little one makes their appearance.

dats definitely not going to be a relaxing mat leave then. How long are you expecting the rest of the work to take? Hope it's not endless days with your weird/nice workmen.

37 weeks today and only a week left in work. This pregnancy seems to have gone so quickly. I'm impatient for the baby to arrive and not ready for it at the same time.

photographerlady · 24/06/2016 07:18

Fifi, Thom, Youandme, beckslovestimmy, and Speak congrats again on your babies!

Bluebell20 Blanket looks lovely!

mascaraisamust sorry to hear your midwives are a bit crap

julfin haha joys of pregnancy

Cookiesandcoffee how did the trace go

Well I am convinced this baby will never come. My daughter was 2 weeks late and induced and as the days countdown I get less and less confident that I am going to avoid an induction. Trying to keep moving and trying to bounce on my ball. Today I am out to Peppa Pig World with my DD to walk til I can't walk anymore.

Becks congrats! Best news I've heard all morning!

Dats we picked up some more sleepers and a baby on board sign. But everything was 10% off, so that was good. Really glad we went as the first aid bit was very good.

My day should be spent napping and fussing about the hospital bags, but instead I'll be filling out some lovely paperwork. DH and I have been here long enough to have the right to settle, but best to have it in writing now. So paperwork and another strong cuppa.

36+1

beckslovestimmy · 24/06/2016 08:49

Morning ladies thank you for your congratulations. We had a good night, I luckily had the 4 bedded bay to myself until 5.30am and they've only bought up one other lady so far. I've been feeding but he's a buggar to latch and my nips are so sore!!

Tips for hospital bag. Bring loads of maternity pads. The longer the better. I've already bled through my new pj's and 2 pairs of pants. Already used 1 pack in less than 12 hours.

I didn't bring a blanket for baby so he's been wrapped in towels over night. He's been bringing up mucous and secretions and was sick on his hat. I only bought one so he smells a bit sicky. Definitely bring baby grows with mits attached he's already shredded my boobs!

After all that the only thing to say is Babies are awesome!!! I'm one very lucky lady.

July 2016 Babies (9) - let the babies commence!
Bluebell20 · 24/06/2016 08:52

Anna, I am so thrilled that you have exchanged! Absolutely fantastic that you should be in before it's time for your c-section. Really hope the radiotherapy helps your mum, too.

dats, your posts make me giggle. Glad you can still be in good humour despite solemn electricians and non-existent kitchens. Lovely treats from your workplace, too. Mine gave me an envelope full of cash and entreated me not to spend it on the weekly food shop, ha! And regarding maternity leave as a first-time mum, I am being depressingly unproductive and am mostly just vegging around the place, looking at my craft stuff but not actually picking it up, and proclaiming my boredom every six seconds - VERY unlike me but I think is down to the fact that my brain has gone into low power mode. Conserving energy for later, maybe...?

Becks what wonderful news - congratulations to you Flowers. Hope you managed to get a lovely night's sleep after your industrious and highly productive day!

tams yup, I am a lucky lady with my MIL. I think it helps that she has two sons and no daughters, so she loves having me around as a female co-conspirator! My mates were always envious of my mum when I was at school because she was so fab, and now they're envious of my MIL, too! Life has done well in dealing me wonderful matriarchs :)

photographer brave move on Peppa Pig World - rather you than me, I must say! Hope the walking does the trick.

pulpi you have reminded me that I meant to do baby first aid while I was pregnant, and damn it, I have forgotten. However, I shall get searching for online tutorials... There must be loads on YouTube. Gives me something to do!

Elliz, I am gutted about the referendum. I barely slept last night because I was checking the results every 45 minutes from about 2.30am. Shed quite a few tears over it this morning. I think some of the Leave voters are in for quite a shock when they realise this is not going to be a magic pill that solves all our problems. And crapping hell, I've just seen that Cameron's actually resigned. Just after he had actually won some respect from me by standing by what he said about Trump, too.

AnnaT45 · 24/06/2016 09:03

photgrapher peppa pig world heavily pregnant? Eeeekkkkkk

becks congrats!!! What a gorgeous baby you must be thrilled. That's great you had a bat to yourself. Hope you're feeling ok? Bless you. I need to get some may pads as have none if I go into early labour!

dats how long will the kitchen take? I feel for you as that would be driving me nuts!! You'll have to share a pic when it's done!

Thank you for the well wishes on the house. No I need to get my act together lol! I'll be sorting out all utilities etc today. Fun!!!
Mum said she had the best night sleep in ages which is great news so I'm really happy today!

julfin · 24/06/2016 09:41
