Hello! I'm very late to this but wondering if I could possibly join too? Thanks!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 07/06/2016 18:31

Kj of course. Tell us a bit about yourself. We have a stats list somewhere I'll try find a link. Is this your first baby, what's your due date, do you know the sex?

mascaraisamust · 07/06/2016 18:58

Hey all, well today was interesting! Didn't get my scan, was told it wasn't policy even though the consultant had referred me last week 'asap' Confused so had a ctg again (which hadn't been booked) and then had a big moan about everything before my review to discuss another plan as this plan wasn't the plan! New consultant has decided to scan me at 38 weeks and then he said they might 'cut their losses', so who knows, maybe I'll be induced Shock the hospital called the midwife and I finally got an appointment at 36 weeks! Ok now I need to read backwards....

kjinthecity · 07/06/2016 19:06

Thanks! Am 31 weeks, having a girl and having a c-section on the 29th July(due 5th August- wasn't sure whether to join July or August group!). First baby and have no idea what I'm doing, just trying to take in as much information as possible! Thanks!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 07/06/2016 19:32

Kj congratulations a lovely little girl. Well there's loads of info on this thread if you scroll back a bit we have all been discussing what to buy for baby recently. Any questions just ask. I'm expecting ds4.

Mascara sorry you are being messed around so much. I think I would put in a complaint. You aren't being treated fairly at all.

tams13 · 07/06/2016 20:04

Welcome kj. Feel free to post any questions. We're a mixture of first time and not first time mums so there's usually plenty of advice either from previous experience or what we've been told at appointments. I'm another first timer.

mascara sounds like a nightmare. Somebody needs to get their act together and let you know what's going on. Surely policy doesn't matter so much if you've been referred for a scan?

How is everyone feeling now? Hope the cankles aren't getting worse and the hay fever is improving.

primarynoodle · 07/06/2016 20:28

mascara am fuming on your behalf! Id have had a total meltdown if it was me.. do you have a named consultant you can speak to?

kj welcome and congrats :)

So a further update to my saga - spoke to another consultant today who has agreed to induce me at 40+2 if the sweeps havent worked so i am feeling pretty happy despite my ginormous cankles!! Thankyou to everyone who has commented with support etc it means a lot - i cant wait to have my baby safely out and in my arms!

Hope all of my fellow cankle sufferers are doing ok - i was fairly slim before this pregnancy and am bladdy huge now!!

Cookiesandcoffee · 07/06/2016 21:28

mascara that sounds totally rubbish! I would have had a melt down, you haven't had a great time at all, it's awful when you're told one thing then they change it.

Welcome kj

Ladies - GET A CLEANER. Sometimes I feel a bit lazy/guilty but it's 100% worth it. Although I have had to cut her to fortnightly in the past few months as money is so tight. But it just means my floors get mopped less often - I'm not doing it!! thom keep her!!! And beaut get one!!!

lula you rant away! Sounds very much deserved!

bluebell I too was really cocky the other day when DH was suffering, now I'm joining him, but jokes on me as I can't take the tablets he got Sadcan't believe you've had 7!!!! That's insane. I've never met my actual midwife Hmm but have only seen a couple. If your tummy muscles are 'nice and easy' blooming hell what must mine be?! Pretty sure mine gave up after #2. Congrats on being 37 weeks!!

beaut Yey for nearly being done with work. Final hurdle! I'm full of hormonal pregnancy rage/emotion too. As noted in my FB meltdown today. Sooo over this now! Really hope you haven't added SPD to your woes, that's the last thing you need. No help or tips to offer but is there anything you can offload? Even housework, mother duties?

tams I can't believe you're still wearing shoes that aren't slip ons! That's impressive in itself. No way could I manage a sandal strap right now! Havianas all the way!

dats I've just suddenly swollen everywhere, even had to take my wedding ring off Sadnot off the scale but The heat has done me no favours . your doors sound v v exciting! And not to mention how you're going up in the world with your breast pads! Little things that make us happy!

So I've had a bit of a meltdown where things (mostly the heat) have got on top of me. And no energy to deal with DDs.. Never mind a poorly one. Must have wiped her nose 100 time today and poor thing has whined and whinged all day. Have my 36 week app tomorrow, going to try and not have a meltdown there.. Oh and my second never did engage at all.. So I'm not expecting this one is

36+1 and living off MagnumsBlush

Ellizardo · 07/06/2016 21:31

Welcome kj! My c section is booked 6 July and I'm having a little Ellizarda too so will let you know of any pearls of wisdom I happen upon in the next few weeks.

Lulabells - foolish is the man who ignores an ingrown pube moan. I'm impressed you can still see yours. When I had my bikini wax on Sunday I basically just waved my hands in that general direction saying 'just do what you can, I haven't been able to see down there for months'. She's probably fashioned a woodland creature topiary for all I know.

I totally get your moan about oh working late too. Mine has just phoned, hiccuping, from Stockholm having clearly had a pint or four with clients. Humph. It's still light there at ten thirty apparently...

No cankles here primary but have been bitten all over my legs so scratching away like a loon.

Night night all

OP posts:
mascaraisamust · 07/06/2016 21:51

Thanks all, thought I was overreacting but seems like you would have reacted the same way!

Ah, I've just got rid of the cleaner for when I start maternity Sad trying to save pennies, gutted!!

Primary good news about potential induction, I can totally relate!

Swollen feet, ankles here too! No resolve as of yet! A small price to pay I guess.

mascaraisamust · 07/06/2016 21:52

Oh and I've been fixated on looking at dysons due to the chat Hmm

tams13 · 07/06/2016 22:46

cookies I did give up today and buy a pair of slip ons. I naively thought I'd manage with sandals because they let air through. 34+4 and my tidy ones have now failed me. Think I'll be relying on the new slip ons and the havianas with ankle straps if they'll stretch far enough.

elliz you had me laughing with your potential topiary there. It would certainly give the midwives something to chat about!

Bluebell20 · 08/06/2016 09:57

Haha Beaut, to be honest I would be quite happy if I only had 2 weeks left to go now that baby's engaging - that would take me to 39 weeks! Suspect it will be longer, though... And gosh, I wouldn't take offence at your DH suggesting a cleaner. You're about to have four kids! It makes me laugh that those of us who want a cleaner have other halves who oppose it, whereas those who don't want a cleaner have other halves trying to foist cleaners on them! What weird sod's law makes that happen?!

Welcome, kj!

mascara it doesn't sound like anyone's being very clear with you. I'd be very cheesed off in your situation. Grr!

primary that sounds really positive. I hope it's helped to set your mind at rest.

Cookies mmm, Magnums. I have been obsessed with those Del Monte 100% juice lollies for weeks now, because they feel vaguely 'healthy' (even though I know they are basically just me mainlining sugar). Big empathy on the hayfever. If I get itchy eyes again this evening I'm going to try the old cucumber over the eyes trick. I also looked up remedies for swelling and found chilled cabbage leaves are supposed to be good, so DH may come home from work later to find me laid out on the sofa dressed like a salad...

I just forced my way through a crochet hexagon but my fingers went soooo tingly that I'm not sure it was worth it. Today's job is going to be washing the car seat we've borrowed from a friend. It's a MaxiCosi Cabriofix. Bit worried because they had it in storage, and it had a sheepskin insert that had gone mouldy on the reverse. I've washed the sheepskin but the mould stains are still there so I don't think I will use. I was going to wash the fabric bit of the car seat in normal laundry liquid, but now I'm worrying that it might have mould spores on it (I can't see any, mind you). What do you guys reckon? A good wash and a dry in the sun, and then inspect it?

beckslovestimmy · 08/06/2016 10:38

Blue we had our car seat in the garage and it appeared a bit mildly but I washed in the machine then line dried it twice and it looks good as new. I've just got to get the cover back on the seat!!

Would love to have a cleaner but certainly not in the budget. DH is pretty good and does his fair share. Helps he has cleaning OCD

Hoping all is well with fifi and Luca.

Welcome Kj

I saw the midwife yesterday for 38 week check. Baby is fully engaged and no other issues. They won't do a sweep until 41 weeks here so booked in for due date appointment. Hoping this one comes soon. DD came at 38+1. Bump measurement was a little big but the didn't seem worried.

I treated myself to the school express pedi and have been soaking and moisturising my poor neglected feet. Not flexible enough to paint nails so I've roped DH in to doing that tonight!!!

photographerlady · 08/06/2016 11:10

IndiansInTheLobby Do you have a gym/birthing ball? I found sitting and bouncing on it has really helped at getting baby to drop. MW told me yesterday she’s now fully engaged which got her away from my ribs.

mascaraisamust hope the scan went well

BeauticianNotMagician81 sleeping I currently moved to the sofa and find that it really helps (even though its been supporting the baby to be back to back). Its currently letting me sleep at night

Bluebell20 bless them student midwives. I had one too at 36 weeks and took her ages to not lose the heartbeat. I was trying to be as nice as I could as she was so nervous :)
ht
Lulabells poor you, DH can be funny sometimes. I remember asking mine to help me shave my bits, honestly I can’t even see my foof anymore. He was’t really supportive of the idea lol.

kjinthecity Welcome!

mascara sounds awful.

beckslovestimmy enjoy the pampering tonight.

Slowly catching up with this thread. My day is going to be spent washing old baby clothes and getting things ready. I discovered I have way way too many newborn clothes. Most are outfits people bought me last time that I know there is no way that the baby will wear them this time. I can’t see myself twisting their little arms to get dresses on… why do they even make this in newborn size.. I think last time my daughter spent so much time naked on my chest she outgrew newborn before I took the tags off anything.

Jem01 · 08/06/2016 11:15

Hey ladies finally got a moment to catch up with the thread sorry for the long post!

bluebell the babygros are fab! love Beary cute :-)

Indians you've done a great job decorating your nursery!

Eliz glad to hear your back is better now and your pampering day (minus the fine!) sounds lovely!

YouandMe can't believe you're full term already! Where does the time go?!

Anna good news about the house! Hope your mum is ok?

Kaytee I've been on mat leave since 1st June..not long left for you to go :-)

pulpi I went for a hooded towel pack from Mothercare think someone mentioned John Lewis do a similar one too.

Lulabells for you! Wine

Welcome kjinthecity! I'm a first timer too!

mascara that's totally not right the way you have been treated, can you make a complaint?

Had a scan on Monday to see whether there is still too much amniotic fluid but all looks fine now. Baby is head down though not engaged & is measuring 6lb 12(!) so looks like I'm going to have a big one!!

We collected our pram yesterday, the Joolz, it's all set up ready to go, so pleased with it.

Started NCT classes on the weekend, teacher is a bit hippie-like but lovely and the group are a nice bunch. Glad to hear not the only one uncomfortable, my bump is huge, my ankles are so swollen & not sleeping well at all, so trying to take naps during the day but always woken up by needing the loo! Ugh!

35+5

Gx91 · 08/06/2016 12:10

Hey ladies hope we are all doing well today ! X
Welcome kj!

Thought I'd take a minute to catch up from the last few days X

Having to take a break from standing up as I was getting waves of jabbing pains in what feels like my cervix ,
Anyone else having these ? Was quite startling , they really took my breath away , thought I'd lie down and see if they eased before calling the midwife !
They have calmed down now , don't remember having these pains last pregnancy (34 weeks tomorrow ) xx

Vikkijayne2507 · 08/06/2016 14:44

I have a cleaner as well once a week on Monday mornings it's a god send

Cookiesandcoffee · 08/06/2016 18:45

gx I get that all the time! I'm pretty sure it's 'a thing' and I yelp out in pain sometimes which is pretty embarrassing

jem glad you're enjoying your NCT. I would take those estimations with a piece of salt with regards to baby size.

Eekk becks not to jinx it but I feel like you could be next! Come on baby! I never engaged with my 2nd so that's really encouraging. Good on your DH for helping you with your feet, well trained

bluebell ooo I know those lollies- they're so yummy. Sure there is also more nutrition in them than the magnums I've been scoffing even if they are a sugar fix. Having said that I've mostly been eating chicken salads as its too hot to eat much else. I can't say I'll be wearing the salad Grin hope your fingers improve - that sounds rotten. And I reused a car seat that had gone slightly mouldy in storage between DDs. Not sure if officially ok but mine survived. Did give it a really good wash. What about the antibacterial washing stuff for nappies? (Can't remember what it's called)

tams well done for the sandal purchase. I bought some new ones today despite already having some Blush needed a treat.. Not sure DH will see it the same way..

Had my 36 week appointment today and nothing to report. Not engaged at all. Didn't even say if was head down (pretty sure it is) but everything ok. I asked when I could have my first sweep (figured if you don't ask you don't get) and it won't be until I'm 40+2. There were no appointments at all for the week I'm 38 so I've got to go to a clinic at the hospital instead, which I've never had before

pulpi · 08/06/2016 19:26

4 more days of work left! Feeling awkward and sore, so it's perfect timing. Baby still hasn't engaged, but it's early yet. Been bouncing on the ball every night, though, just to help things along.

33+6

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 08/06/2016 20:40

No one has mentioned to me whether baby is engaged at all. I don't know if that means it isn't, or if they just haven't said. Could be either I suppose. Definitely head down though - been confirmed on scans as well as by feel.

Ellizardo · 08/06/2016 20:48

It's just occurred to me that I haven't had the same midwife twice either. So that must be at least 8-10 different people. Jem - you're at Lewisham aren't you? Do you have the same?

Met some new local mums over last few days which has been really nice esp as not doing NCT this time around. Days can feel very long without real life buddies as well as you guys!

I'll be interested to know whether she's still breech on sat at my 36 week appt. To be honest I'm crap at figuring out how she's lying.

How are people getting on with shortlisting names? I'm still stuck on four at the moment so may need fresh inspiration!

OP posts:
photographerlady · 08/06/2016 21:22

Cookiesandcoffee I never had a sweep last time and I was almost 42 weeks then. No am still playing things by ear and hoping to avoid another induction but you sort of prompted me to want to ask. I know this sounds naive but do midwives just do the sweep themselves?

Ellizardo we told our nearly 3 year old the baby name and now shes telling everyone, even strangers on the street so I think the name is firmly set in stone now

Just got back from my NCT yoga class. It was nice for them to welcome me on so late in pregnancy (36+5) and a second time mum. I felt the small crowd of young pregnant first time mums ask me 100s of questions. Was nice though to have a nice 1.5 hour evening with other mums to be and properly felt pregnant. In all honesty I havent really felt really mummy like til this week now that maternity leave is here.

beckslovestimmy · 08/06/2016 22:13

Cookies I hope your right!! I'm so ready to have this baby now. I need to wait until Sunday really then DH is on a rest week so will be around!!

Cookiesandcoffee · 08/06/2016 22:25

youandme they just haven't mentioned it when I haven't been but who knows!

That's really nice elliz , I have friends with chicken but I always have mine when my friends aren't! We are 90% set on our name, but mostly because we don't like any others (or agree!) so it isn't actually out of love I don't think?? Haven't told a sole though. Have you posted in baby names?

Talking of which, how's your shortlisting beaut, or are you just waiting to see what he looks like now?

photo I demanded one at my midwife app the day I was 40+0. She was born later that day. I think it was coincidence though!. If you ask they will do one at your appointment. They literally just sweep inside the cervix- not very comfy and I did spot a little bit of blood afterwards
