Oh congrats spanoo ! How cute Smile

clarabellski · 04/08/2015 13:16

Aw spanoo such a cute wee bundle in there! Are you sure its only 9w5? Looks bigger!

Spanoo · 04/08/2015 13:19

Yeah they said 9w5d. What do other people think about telling other kids in the family - nieces/nephews etc? Feel like I just chickened out now!

Spanoo · 04/08/2015 13:22

And it's 2.9mm long. It looked like there was still a lot of space for it to fill!

haquoi123 · 04/08/2015 13:41

Awww so cute spanoo! I think with children you have to do what you feel comfy with as they'll pick up on any unease. I've got very small sisters (3&6 years old) and we told them about ds very early on. I've not told them about this baby though as they found ds' death hard to grasp and while I think it was important for them and i don't regret it, I found it really hard.

Brilliant picture Spanoo! I had one at 8 weeks 5 days which just looked like a bean!

Spanoo · 04/08/2015 14:21

Thanks everyone.

I've told both my brother and sister now, who both live abroad with their families, and just said I'd leave it to them to tell the kids. They will see me with a bump anyway when my brother comes home in 3 weeks, and then I go to see my sister in October.

overreactionemoticon · 04/08/2015 14:29

Spanoo I haven't told my DC yet, am waiting til after the scan. I know things can still go wrong after that point but I want to have at least seen a healthy (at that point) baby before I tell them

Spanoo · 04/08/2015 15:06

Thanks Haq and overreaction. I understand that completely. Overreaction when is your scan?

Rufus - thanks for the tip you posted the other week on using Epsom salts for acne. I've tried it now and it really works!

Hope others are feeling well today.

MayFlowers16 · 04/08/2015 15:18

Great scan news Spanoo.

I had a consultant's appointment this morning. I don't know why really.Confused She asked me a couple of questions, check bp and urine and then discharged me back to midwife care, which I am very happy about.

It's interesting to read about telling children about pregnancy. I've mentioned to it to dd this week but I think the concept is too abstract right now. She's 2 1/2.

MayFlowers16 · 04/08/2015 15:19

I'm not looking forward to the questions that my neice and nephews may ask me though . (eg how did baby get there? how will it get out? . . )

admittingdefeat · 04/08/2015 15:30

DDs are 7 & 4. They've decided growing a baby takes too long. Grin In terms of baby getting out, I said that Doctors make a little cut in Mummys tummys and pull them out. Not technically a lie, some do come out that way! Grin

I'm sat eating condensed milk out of the tin. I am gross.

Scan tomorrow morning.

clarabellski · 04/08/2015 15:50

Mmmm, condensed milk....

Littleoakhorn · 04/08/2015 17:13

Bleurgh! Condensed milk! It's funny how different our nausea cures are. I couldn't touch anything that rich. Smile

it's nice to hear about all the good scans. My nuchal test appointment isn't until next Friday and it feels like a loooooooong wait.

On telling people, I've told my parents and other people can find out via the grapevine or when we see them after the nuchal test. I'm bracing myself for the rude "you're huge!", but maybe they're just a great way of deciding who gets to have newborn cuddles in Feb/ March and who doesn't... not that I hold grudges or anything Wink

CalypsoLilt · 04/08/2015 17:20

fififolle we have the same due date! yay!

stocking tell me EVERYTHING about cloth nappies, I REALLY want to use them but have no idea where to start. All the research I've done just says different types for different babies and at different which really doesn't help.

My scan is Friday....it can't come soon enough. Looking at all your lovely photos and I'm feeling very jealous!

clumsypots · 04/08/2015 18:03

admitting my scan is tomorrow morning as well. I haven't had a letter about it so I'm not entirely sure what I need to do, do I need a full bladder and also do I need to take a sample with me? you would think I would remember but it's been 10 years!

Stepawayfromthezebras · 04/08/2015 18:09

clumsy my letter asked for a full bladder for mine - which made the fact it ended up being an hour late a bit uncomfortable Blush But in a poster on the wall it said up to 12 weeks you need a full bladder and then from 12 -20 weeks they may ask for a half full bladder but empty may also be Ok.

And I didn't take a sample with me, they took a blood sample after the scan as I asked for DS screening. Good luck! Smile

clumsypots · 04/08/2015 18:14

Thank you, I had better get up early then!

goldmaple · 04/08/2015 18:21

Congrats on all the lovely babies and great scan pics!

My scan is tomorrow. DH cannot make it AND I have to take both children. Oh well! I'm still really excited!

My DC are very young (4&2) and I don't want to mention the baby until 30-35 weeks (as time passes soooo slowly for little kids)! I hope they will happily watch a movie on my iPad - and not notice the scan or ask questionsHmm

haquoi123 · 04/08/2015 19:29

calypso I found the nappy lady really useful in terms of information

I went with a full bladder and they asked me to half empty it! When I'm on the laptop I'll be able to see pictures - I love guessing if it's a boy or girl, so let me know if you want me to guess! I'm no expert, I'm just a bit obsessed and look at every theory possible! ????

MayFlowers16 · 04/08/2015 20:16

Any idea tea ?

overreactionemoticon · 04/08/2015 20:17

Scan is on Thursday spanoo. Looking forward to it but also scared.

Oh god I hadn't considered telling the DC would mean talking about how it got there etc. They know basic facts but dd still thinks me and dp have never done it!

I used cloth with the DC and planning to use the same nappies on this baby. Happy to answer any questions although I'm not that up to date with newer brands.

overreactionemoticon · 04/08/2015 20:19

Also there's no way I'm going to be able to drink the 1.5 pints they say to for the scan without puking. I can barely drink anything these days
