Have just finished a whole pack of jaffacake minis, by myself

If I carry on like this, I will definatley be having c-section......

CaptainDippy · 24/10/2006 11:59

Enjoy Farm Ice Age Bramshott! I'm off to work!! Was thinking (while on the illusive subject of rakes) you could just buy some suitable paint and paint little pink daisies onto the metal / handle of the rake - that should suffice! Flowers are easy - one dot for middle and a few dots round the outside and voila!! Oh, BTW - WHEN YOU'RE BUMP IS BIG YOU WILL GET BACKACHE!!

Sexonlegs · 24/10/2006 13:31

Afternoon all, sounds like everyone is happy happy happy today which is good.
Well, dd didn't wake up coughing last night, so neither of us had to get up, although I did have to get up for the usual middle of the night wee - annoying!!
Did anyone see Trevor McDonalds programme last night about the shortage of midwives? Scary stuff.
Waiting for the hospital to call me this afternoon with my blood test result in relation to Downs. Feeling slightly edgy about it all, although the scan showed low risk.

Anyway, I am at work, although bugger all to do, so shall pretend to be busy!!

Catch up later.

Shoeshopper · 24/10/2006 13:35

Hi thanks for all the welcomes!! I feel very welcome and very happy to have somewhere to find some support!!
I've got teary eyes reading all the nice stuff. Seems like I have tears in my eyes the whole time... is anyone else very emotional and like a roller coaster?

AND what about eating??? I've never eaten so much junk in my life... suddenly I'm eating crisps daily, coke is a great nausea stopper .... and salads (that I usually love) turn me off completely!

I'm in Kent ... and I'm also glad not to be the only 40something! (Will be 41 by the due date).

Shoeshopper · 24/10/2006 13:37

By the way, did the hospital call with your results Sexonlegs? I hated the time I had to wait ... I'm crossing fingers for you.

Sexonlegs · 24/10/2006 14:08

Hi Shoeshopper, many of us are teary at the moment I believe. And I totally join you on the junk food trail. I cannot bear fruit any more, and just want supernoodles! Loving coke as well, which I never normally drink.
Still waiting for the call from the hospital. Was your result ok?
x

Sexonlegs · 24/10/2006 14:17

OH MY GOD!!!!
Just had the call, and based on my age (36) the risk factor was 1/200, but based on my bloods, it is 1 in over 4000! I am sooooooo relieved. I feel like crying.

Love to all!!!!!

geordiemacminx · 24/10/2006 14:20

So pleased for you SOL!!!!!
I think you should have some supernoodles and 2 cans of coke to celebrate!!!

Sexonlegs · 24/10/2006 14:27

Thank you geordie. Sadly at work, but will be tearing open the supernoodles when I get in later on!!
Might even have some champagne tonight to celebrate, as this is the first time I have felt I could get excited this time around.

Hi been on hols for a week so haven't been at my computer, so unlike me!

Geordiemacminx how did telling the step kids go?

Is there anyone else out there who feels like they are on a boat? its not so much that I feel dizzy I feel like I am on a boat all the time it's really weird, anyone know what I can do to stop it?

geordiemacminx · 24/10/2006 14:48

went absolutely rubbish - ds was ok, as long as I have a boy, dd... well we have ruined her life, we should have consulted her before trying for a family, told her as soon as we found out and she doesnt want to speak to us anymore...little witch!!!

OP posts:
emmymummy · 24/10/2006 15:00

Geordie!!!! Have mental image of stroppy little cow stamping her foot and looking very cross indeed! She'll get used to it (eventually) - she can't hate you forever!

geordiemacminx · 24/10/2006 15:02

Oh there was tears and everything!!!! And wait for it... if her dad didnt love her enough to stay with them why on earth did he want another sprog?????

OP posts:
Greengirlforever · 24/10/2006 15:07

Congrats to SoL!!!! Am delighted for you.

Shoeshopper - no worries, I read somewhere that actually too much salad is not good during pregnancy - can't remember if it was to do with organo-phosphates or just difficult to digest....

Geordie Mac - if it's any comfort (and it won't be!) my DS1 is getting less enamoured of the whole idea by the day, muttering along the lines of "Mum why are you having another baby????" I think DS2 was enough of a shock to his system and this one is a step too far!

bubblez · 24/10/2006 15:08

Hiya all,

Have just spent the last hour trying to catch up and now i cant remember any of the posts grrrrr.

Welcome any newbies...

1becomes3 how many weeks are you? I felt like this for the first 13 weeks and then it went.

Went to a kids party on sat and dp took the wrong turning on the m25 on the way back, then car broke down and dp, dd and me found ourselves in an area we didnt know stranded in the middle of the night. All worked out in the end thanks to an angel passer by disquised as a german ex-army mechanic.
Had nose bleed on sat night for the first time in my life any one else had nose bleeds?
I wonder if it could have been stress induced.

All my trousers are getting too tight to wear and have no spare cash for new clothes (the one thing that I forgot to account for). Belly is massive!!!

How is everyone else?
Any one felt any movements yet?
16+1

bubblez · 24/10/2006 15:12

Oh gordie!!! Poor you. I don't want to sound too harsh but the little mare is gonna just have to get over it. Such is life and all that. How old are they btw?

1becomes3 · 24/10/2006 15:13

Oh dear doesn't sound like much fun.

DSS2 still not to happy with us even worse now as we didn't take him away with us and took DD with us.

She'll come to terms with it in her own time. It took DSS2 ages to adjust to having DD around, now he will actually hold her and talk to her (only took over a year)

emmymummy · 24/10/2006 15:16

Bubblez - nightmare getting stranded, how scarey for you all. Glad there are some good Samaritans out there at least, and what luck finding one who was a mechanic!

Haven't experienced any nosebleeds and didn't during last preg either - maybe just stress?

Know what you mean about everything getting too tight - am condsidering investing in one of those belly-belt waist expander thingies - has anyone tried them before. Not big enough for maternity clothes proper yet, but worried about breaking zips on my 'normal' trousers. Might be a good investment at this point?

Am deffo getting little flutterings and movements now - like bubbles or a little bird in my tummy - very nice feeling!

1becomes3 · 24/10/2006 15:21

Bubblez- I'm 14 weeks, it's strange because it only started last week thought I might be lacking in something.
My babies are busy busy busy, everytime they move around it makes me windy, which isn't always welcome!
I am in my big streachy pants already have been since about 12 weeks as I am around the same size as I was when I was 20 odd weeks with DD.
Have an appointment with the consultant next week, which fingers crossed means that I get another scan

bubblez · 24/10/2006 15:22

Oh how lovely emmymummy how many weeks are you? I remember that with dd I didn't feel anything till 20weeks. They say that with your second you can feel them as early as 16 weeks. Althought I haven't as yet.

I know, we were stranded for over two hours before this man showed up. Before him were two AA men who refused to help and another tow truck owner who acted as though my dp didn't exsist when he asked for help.

geordiemacminx · 24/10/2006 15:22

Bubblez what a nightmare for you... I have started freaking out about things like that so I actually took some break down cover out last week, as I travel to mu mums which is 150 miles away by myself quite a lot... only cost me an extra £5 a month on top of my insurance?

DSD is 15. Definately going through the " the whole world revolves around me" stage. It didnt really bother me but flet very sorry for dp, I just want everything to be nice for him? He has told her that its tough and that she can either accept it or not...hopefully things will sort themselves out in the next 5 months!!!!

OP posts:
bubblez · 24/10/2006 15:25

lol 1become3. I suppose having two must be double the flutterings . Good thing you have a consultants apt soon then he/she can reasure you and check to see if you are lacking anything. Hope that it goes well..

1becomes3 · 24/10/2006 15:27

Bubblez missed the whole nose bleed thing first time round.
It is perfectly normal it's just another one of those fun things that can happen.
with DD that was the only sign of being pregnant i had, had them all the way through the pregnancy, didn't even know I was pregnant with her till 20weeks!

muminamini · 24/10/2006 15:45

Congratulations and welcome

muminamini · 24/10/2006 16:03

Hi everyone

SOL - fab news re your blood results - really pleased for you - enjoy your champagne...oooh what I wouldn't give for a nice chiled glass of Cava......lol

I have officiallysucummbed to wearing my maternity jeans and trousers. I can';t beleive how my tummy has changed already. I didn't realise that my trousers (from last time) were adjustable so if I have them on the tightest button I can wear them....makes me worry slightly that I must have been MASSIVE last time if I went straight into just wearing htem unadjusted...but I don't think I bought them till 5 or 6 mnths in last time (I hope!). My Mum came back today from Barbados and couldn't believe my mini bump. The elephant scrotum has definatley started to harden a bit and protrude!
I'm afraid comfort comes first though - I don't care if I am only 14 weeks - how comfy are maternity trousers!!! Runnyhabbit - I'm with you on the 15 pound baby front I think!

Bubblez and 1becomes3 good to hear from you again and Isabellamoi - hope the cold is getting better and yey for the bump!!!

Well I best go DS is getting restless and needs attention!

catch you later
