Hi lovelies,

I've been having hectic time with work, travelling around for interviews and such so haven't been on here or had time to rtft.

I've got my booking in appointment tomorrow and - being adopted - I have no real family history to give so I want to get as much info on my partner's as possible. What questions are asked about family history? Which illnesses and stuff are asked about?

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 03/09/2014 10:50

I thought I was starting to feel better yesterday , but then I went really down hill towards the end of the day, stomach pains and nausea .

My Dm says the only time I should worry is if their is any bleeding but surely this pain isn't right ? Sad.

Butterpuff · 03/09/2014 12:17

What sort of pains panda I keep feeling like I have done too many abdominal crunches without warm up. But I am assuming that this is just stretching pains and am not worrying. Odd shooting pains down to my groin too, again, assume its stretching. Lots going on with our poor bodies at the moment.

I went back to Pilates last night for the first time, so will likely have more pain tomorrow.

Butterflies Gudgy fantastic, they eye, not so great. Poor you.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 03/09/2014 14:20

Just a constant pain every night , has me keeling over its that bad sometimes Confused

I also have a very obvious 'you know I'm in here ' kinda constant feeling as Confused

I swear I'm not mad Grin

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 03/09/2014 14:21

*Constant feeling as well in my stomach

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 03/09/2014 16:02

what's the best way to get fluids in to myself as feeling really dehydrated & I can only drink so much before I start to feel sick Sad

DurhamRed · 03/09/2014 16:13

MyPanda I can only get 2 pints of fluids max in me (on a good day). I can manage caffeine free tea or orange squash usually. On bad days I try sipping sports drinks designed for dehydration or dioralyte to rebalance my electrolytes. Just drink what your body can manage, if you manage at least a litre a day you are doing ok.

DurhamRed · 03/09/2014 16:16

Oh and I find sipping/drinking slowly helps. If i gulp down fluids thirstily I feel really sick or am likely to throw up...probably why tea helps as I have to drink it slowly.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 03/09/2014 16:29

I can't drink anything hot anymore , everything I drink has to be ice cold Hmm

I might try a sports drink , I never thought of that Blush

I have a headache most of the time which I have put down to dehydration

ToAvoidConversation · 03/09/2014 16:59

I use lucozade sport (the non fizzy one) when I'm having a bad day. Focus on just sipping slowly.

ZebraZeebra · 03/09/2014 17:35

Awwww you poor guys Durham and Panda, in pain and feeling sick :( When will it ever end?

I thought I was 13 weeks today but had the scan today and have been moved to 13+5. So 14 weeks on Saturday. when will it ever end - I feel so dreadful :(

Butterpuff · 03/09/2014 17:36

Its just tough being sick isn't it.

Have you asked a midwife about the pains panda?

I found I had to drink ice cold water and nothing else. Anything fizzy (tried sparkling water and tonic water for variety) made me burp, and the burp felt like it would turn to heaving. Anything sweet at all was horrible, squash, flavoured waters etc. just nasty. A slice of lemon in iced water was good, not sure I could actually taste it or if it was the idea of drinking something other than plain water that I liked.

Still cant drink anything hot with milk in, or anything acidic. Orange juice would be torture. But everyone is different, no fix all is there?

ZebraZeebra · 03/09/2014 17:39

Wait, I have a question. I can't even remember from last time!

When counting days and weeks, do you count the day after the new week as +1 or do you count the +1 on the day? And do you go all the way to 7? Or do you count the next week as 7? I'm 13+5. So when does the 14th week begin - Friday or Saturday? And is the next day then +1? basically when do you begin counting? You know how if your were counting a week Monday to Monday you'd only actually count Monday-Sunday.

God I'm so fucked from all the MS I don't have a clue what's going on or how to count days!

ZylaB · 03/09/2014 18:01

zebra you're exactly the same date as me, 13+5 :)

It goes up to +6 then the new week starts, so Thursday is 13+6 and then Friday is 14(+0)

Hope that helps :)

ZebraZeebra · 03/09/2014 18:04

Right so Saturday is 14+1. God. I'm stupid. I had brain cells but I traded them in for children.

Thanks Zyla due date buddy! I have decided not to tell anyone outside this group and my other group because the pressure last time of constant texts and messages - "Anything yet?" - just did my head in. No, actually I gave birth last week and just didn't bother to tell you Hmm

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 03/09/2014 18:24

Toast and fourmonths - yes, sorry - thought you meant a sleepy pod or snugglepod or whatever those cushions are called with a dip in the middle. Sorry. Am really off my game lately (not good for work - eek). No, no, a side-car bed thingy is fine. Sorry I got muddled. All the brand names get confusing.

smokeandglitter · 03/09/2014 18:35

MyPanda I second Lucozade Sport is a life saver for that. I drank it when I had Swine Flu and it saved me!

Anyone any ideas on the booking appointment?

theonewiththenoisychild · 03/09/2014 18:43

asda baby event has started. anyone brought any bargains?

ZebraZeebra · 03/09/2014 19:07

smoke it's things like, if I can remember the list: heart disease, diabetes, cancer, depression, high blood pressure, strokes, allergies, asthmas, genetic conditions, if your or the father's family are not from the UK.

I'm not sure if this is UK but gives you an idea: www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/checklist/family-history.aspx

kettlepot · 03/09/2014 19:57

Hi all. Been so busy only just caught up with thread! Glad to see everyone is mostly doing okay.

smoke booking in wasn't too bad (adopted too). I said right from the start but she still went through all the family history questions, got a bit repetitive saying "I don't know, partner no" but c'est la vie! They put me down as low risk (which is good, but I definitely think they should have a "we really don't know with this one" option). They run through your medical history more comprehensively than family's anyway. And ask about mental health too.

Boyfriend has been mocking me for my lack of knowledge of newborns. I only found out last week that the end of the belly button dries and falls off (I'm posting this in the vague hope that someone else will admit they also didn't know this...) It's now been affectionately termed a "baby pork scratching" - at least once I got over the thought of it! I really hope I'm not the worlds most clueless mother. Probably am.

ZebraZeebra · 03/09/2014 20:05

kettlepot there's SO much I didn't know. So many things I can't even think of them all now!

I didn't know - and if this happens to anyone, I hope you don't have an evil MW to shout at you - that newborns needed feeding every 2-3 hours. First night home, DS slept nine hours. I'd always heard DON'T WAKE A SLEEPING BABY. I hadn't slept in over 50 hours, we were both knackered!

MW comes round the next morning, asks about feeding, is horrified it's been nine hours since he last fed and shouts "Things will be STARTED if he is not fed!" I asked what things - she meant social services :( I was mortified, horrified, in tears and I still cringe about it.

I then woke HIM UP all through then night every two hours out of total fear. I have since learnt my MW was an utter twat and it was OK he went nine hours without a feed as a one off.

kettlepot · 03/09/2014 20:40

:O zebra!! That MW sounds absolutely horrible! I'd also have assumed that if baby is sleeping it's not hungry. Aren't we programmed to wake up if hungry?! Maybe that's just me (although mainly now just waking up at 4am thinking about nachos). Googles

I do think I need some baby books to start reading up on things (recommendations?!). Although, there's a famous family friend story where her waters broke and she went in 6 weeks early, her husband asked what was going to happen and she replied she didn't know because she hadn't got that far in the book yet!
