A few babies have already arrived, with more due to make their entrance soon, and it's not even September yet!

The best purchase we seem to have made so far has actually been a Ewan the Sheep!

We bought it, on the strength of ravings on MN about it. Needless to say, we are impressed relieved!.

Congrats Acorn! xxx

Am 38+4 today. Bugger all sign of anything happening at the mo. Fed up now. Sad

lilone1234 · 07/09/2014 12:09

Congrats acorn! Your baby boy was practically right on time!

My mum told me she and my brothers have bets on when i'm going to have the baby - my mum votes today, one brother says Wednesday and the other says Friday. Not sure how much money they have on it though!

Did resort to DTD last night (which was pretty difficult) and have been bouncing on my ball and eating pineapple. Broke a sweat in Nando's when I accidentally ended up with chilli jam in my burger - but still nothing!

I bought an Avent electric pump and some Avent natural bottles in advance due to good reviews and the fact that the natural range is supposed to be similar to breastfeeding to compliment it as much as possible. Ideally I won't need to use it until bf is established and I just want to express for DP to feed sometimes but we'll have to see!

Congrats acron x gorgeous little baby x

So I was searching for an August baby / postnatal forum, but I didn't find one.... To all those whose babies arrived early, is there one?

Somebody has just started a september thread though... Here it is: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/2176889-sept-2014-babies-are-here-or-coming-soon

It would be nice to continue talking with this group about babies as we now know each others through pregnancy to some extent... ? What does everybody think?

P.S. I agree with the campaign "whatever works for your baby!"
I don't know why I bothered buying an expensive bedside crib in the first place; my LO never sleeps in it ! He doesn't like sleeping on his back either till now...

P.S.2 does anyone have Rock Play n Sleep from fisher price ? What do people think about it?

Nazly · 07/09/2014 12:24

Red Ewan the sheep is a bit expensive ; does it really work? Dara is 3.5weeks now, not sure if it is too late for white noise now...

DearDinah · 07/09/2014 13:23

Congrats acorn so beautiful!
My parents got me the ameda electric pump yesterday, although not sure how much longer I'm going to be able to use it for Blush it's got very good reviews & seems like it would be very good if the supply is there.
Do you sterlise the bits after every use? It's very tiring expressing, FF'd & sterilising through the night! The hospital said it was ok to just rinse but now I'm home it doesn't seem right. I feel like I must sterlise everything all the time?! Lol
Does anyone with their LO's now feel a bit panicky? Like I'm questioning everything, whether what im doing is right. I just feel very nervous.
I got bought a lionheart bedtime bear which plays heartbeat/white noise not sure if it's a bit cheaper than ewan? Haven't used it yet, Evie is a very sleepy baby, not sure if it's due to the condition she may or may not have, who knows!

DearDinah · 07/09/2014 13:24

Do we have a Facebook group? I read some threads do?

CoolCat2014 · 07/09/2014 13:29

Nazly - you could try a white noise app on your phone to see if he likes it?

RedToothBrush · 07/09/2014 13:44

Nazly, we were a bit hmmmm it can't be that good, but lets get as we have been very good about what we have bought and had noticed he seemed to prefer it noisy than quiet.

DS was screaming his head off, first time we used it. It was like finding an off switch. My parents were around and jaws dropped all round. So yes it does work imo. More than I thought it would.

It seems to settle him loads in the same way that a car journey makes him fall asleep in the car, so I'd judge how effective it might be from that. If car journeys don't work that way for you, I wouldn't bother. Its supposed to work for babies through to toddlers.

I'm up for continuing on postnatal group, though I don't want abandon late September lot here either!

I think August was all on FB.

KatharineClover · 07/09/2014 14:47

dinah breastmilk is antibacterial. You can wash and sterilize the pump once a day and store it in the fridge between pumping sessions I believe. The kellymom website is one of the best for the most up to date bf advice.

cookielove · 07/09/2014 14:49

We have a Ewan, Eli often falls asleep to it. One of the problems I have is Eli likes the light being on. I blame the nicu!

dinah I have two medela swing pumps, I sterilise the pumps and bottles. In a steam sterilisers after each pump. My pattern is, lo wakes up (I use to have to set alarms and wake him), change nappy, offer breast, then give bottle, settle him, then pump.

However last night there was no settle and I did not sleep till 6.00 am. And I only got 1hr!

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 07/09/2014 15:08

Dinah, I agree with Katherine- used to pump and keep the pump in the fridge then wash and sterilise once a day.

I am happy to join a Facebook page, and postnatel group :)

Nazly · 07/09/2014 16:07

Thanks Red, I may order one, although my problem with Dara isn't that he doesn't settle down or sleep; in fact he sleeps relatively quickly; he just doesn't like sleeping on his back in his crib... Not sure if ewan will help

Dinah, all, hospitals use pre-sterilised pumps and you can keep using one for 24 hours without sterilising ; sure same can be done in home

misog2000 · 07/09/2014 16:22

Me too for a post natal group! Who on earth would I ask my silly questions without you guys Shock I'm not due till towards the end of the month so it's nice to have people a few weeks ahead of me who can help a clueless first timer!

RedToothBrush · 07/09/2014 17:04

Where are all the baby girls hiding?!

ilovemonstersinc · 07/09/2014 17:07

I used lion heart bear until ds was2 well worth it! He had a lot of hospital stays dueto his sn so the white noise helped him stay ssettled. I even recorded it on my phone for him.

who's going to start the post natal weight loss group? Its eid next month want to lose what I can sensibly without it effecting supply etc.

I dont want to join fb group as dont havefb abd

Snafu33 · 07/09/2014 18:51

I'm keen on a post natal group on here-despite being the last in the queue for an appearance! It worries me that I agree with everyone saying-get out! And yet I'm only recently at term! Also have no idea how some of you are being so active-well done! I can just about make the bed before needing a rest...would love to tidy and organise house and then do some batch cooking!

holls2000 · 07/09/2014 19:45

why am I not nesting?!?!?!?! my house is a tip. I need to nest Smile Smile

RedToothBrush · 07/09/2014 19:49

holls, I never did. Too bloody knackered.

House is still a tip.

ilovemonstersinc · 07/09/2014 20:14

Sorry about incomplete post baby was sick.

Topsyloulou · 07/09/2014 20:19

I've just made three different meals for the freezer plus dinner for tonight and am now totally shattered. Doesn't help that the little man is kicking the hell out of me too. Thought they were supposed to get less active at this stage not more!

Definitely up for a post natal thread, would prefer to keep it on here rather than Facebook. Like the anonymity plus if we are posting things middle of the night during feeds don't want the notifications waking people up etc.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 07/09/2014 20:27

ilove, where's best for a weight loss thread? Postnatal under a different name or the weight loss boards? I'm definitely up for one. Seriously need to shift this weight and as fast as possible.
