A few babies have already arrived, with more due to make their entrance soon, and it's not even September yet!

Cheers lilone! I'm around but difficult to copy and paste stuff from my phone and keep up with updates from everyone as easily.

Still in hospital. Its possible that they may discharge me today, but I think I've been a little forgotten today for various reasons (this is not necessarily a bad thing as its been one thing after another all day and all night). My blood pressure was oddly high at last reading too. :(

Congrats to don't and bex

KitKat1985 · 03/09/2014 13:56

Thank you Lilone for the stats update.

I'm also feeling a bit lost missingcaffeine. Only finished work on Friday but not really sure already what to do with myself. I'm too knackered to do much and it's difficult to plan much as things can change at such short notice at the moment. This week I've been lucky in that a couple of friends have been free to meet for lunch, but they will all be busy next week so can imagine that if baby doesn't turn up by next week I will be doing a lot of aimless pottering about.

Topsyloulou · 03/09/2014 14:22

I'm on week 2 of mat leave. Did a good job of keeping busy last week but have barely left the house this week as friends are all busy & it's driving me mad. Hasn't helped that DP has been working late / away so I'm on my own in the evenings as well. I'm not used to being able to sit around but the house is gleaming, all the washing & ironing is done etc so there really is nothing for me to do. I could go & mooch round the shops but don't want to spend money on stuff I don't need. Really hoping the baby arrives soon as can't cope with another 3 weeks of this!

lilone1234 · 03/09/2014 15:07

Oh i'm so bored of sitting around waiting now! Feels like such a waste of maternity leave. Of course I could always find some cleaning to do (going to give the bathroom a quick wipe round now) but it's not exactly exciting and I also can't really be bothered to do anything either!

OP posts:
polkadotdelight · 03/09/2014 15:44

I can't remember who Ive congratulated anymore so I'm going to say CONGRATULATIONS in case I missed anyone.

Id like to say my house is gleaming but truthfully Im only just managing to keep on top of it, my bump is frequently sore and I get exhausted quickly. When I do have a good clean DH comes home from work and makes a mess again. Am trying to hang over birth ball/coffee table because Im told this baby is now back to back but it's uncomfortable and hurting my back!

Currently stressing because people have started going on about perineal massage and I havent done any! (between being pregnant and trying to speed up things with the house move I just forgot).

xxmissbrightsidexx · 03/09/2014 15:59

Eeeeee had my scan & the consultant said at my next appointment on the 9th he could give me a sweep OR we could discuss him starting me off :0 I presume that means induction? Baby's weighing 6lb 10ish so he must be happy enough with her progress to be considering that? Xx

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2014 16:39

Take your bets please! Was told at 1.50 they would discharge me. Still waiting for paper work. Dinner is 5pm... Will I be having take away or hospital food?

Not sure if I've been forgotten but its busy and I'm sure they would kick me out for the bed if they had chance!

KitKat1985 · 03/09/2014 17:05

Sounds like they must be pretty happy with you to me missbrightside, and they are obviously not worried about anything to the extent that they feel they need to do anything now, so I would definitely take that as good news. Smile

Red take the hospital food and then grab a take-away on the way home as well when they do eventually discharge you. You need the energy to look after baby! Lol!

I am 38 weeks today. It has only really just seriously started to occur to me that it could be 3-4 weeks yet before baby arrives. I will literally go insane if I am sat around doing nothing all through September. It feels so weird as there's loads of things that I would normally be going out doing if I was off work, but I just haven't got the energy for most of it at the moment. I just feel like I'm wasting this time but I don't really know how to use it productively at the moment. Confused

Inbl00m · 03/09/2014 17:11

KitKat, Missing, Topsy and Lilone I'm so glad it's not just me going stir crazy on mat leave! Everybody keeps banging on about "relaxing" before the baby arrives but it's so hard to do when you can't even sit down for more than 5 minutes.

I've also become convinced that nesting happens because heavily pregnant women are effectively housebound and bored towards the end rather than some sort of hormone-related signal of impending labour - I wish! Wink

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2014 17:24

I couldn't do ANYTHING for last two weeks of being pregnant. Was exhausted. Midwife has just been to apologise which she didn't need to. They have been incredible here... Had dinner. Will be discharged soon (apparently). Want to hug all staff on way out. Not just been birth i wanted if that makes sense but so much more... Better use of resources than counselling ever would.

Wish every hospital was as good... It should be.

HippyJess · 03/09/2014 17:33

Had our growth scan over here, and the "really big baby" I'm carrying is estimated by the sonographer to be a whopping... 7lbs and 38+5 Hmm FFS! All that worrying me for no reason! He's actually under the 50th centile line.

But of course he must be huge and I couldn't possibly not have gestational diabetes (hence them testing me for a second time for no reason) what with me being such a collossal fatty Angry

Missingcaffeine · 03/09/2014 17:36

kitkat, Tospy and Lilone feel exactly the same! There's loads of DIY to do, but it's all a bit too physical. Normally if I have time off, I have no problem filling it, but I feel so physically incapacitated and knackered that I am literally just pottering and feeling guilty for my lack of productivity! Usually I love tidying and sorting, but it all feels like too much effort. I'm used to working 12 hour stressful days, and then if I have time off, I'm usually super active and busy, but right now I feel lost! Had my hair done today which was nice. Going to get started on a box set I think. Maybe True detective.
Red bet you're still there! Nice that you're going home.
Polka I haven't done any perineal massage and to be honest, don't think I will - don't you have to do it A LOT to make a difference? I might regret that though! Good luck getting your baby into a better position.

RedToothBrush · 03/09/2014 17:48

Oh and take away and hospital food would be nice but I've got to loose the rest of the 3 and half stone or something that I've put on...

xxmissbrightsidexx · 03/09/2014 17:55

That's what I thought too kitkat :) am too excited now, all beginning to feel real now though I don't think it'll fully sink in until I hold her lol xx

KatharineClover · 03/09/2014 18:20

39 weeks today - I feel like I'm forgetting something I need to do ... Bag is packed. House is tidy-ish (although could do more). Been doing lots of fun things with DS1. House painting isn't finished, but that will take a while as waiting for BIL to fit in when he is free. What am I missing?! :)

slithytove · 03/09/2014 18:30

Midwife came today, baby is lovely and healthy and almost fully engaged, no wonder my pelvis is in bits! She reckons a week or so and baby will be here, so I'd better get my skates on! Still need to gut the house and pack bags, prep the living room for my water birth etc.. Quite a lot to do when I think about it!

LH1981 · 03/09/2014 18:51

Haha, seems most of us (pre-baby) are in the same boat, serving eviction notices! Grin

All labour symptoms have stopped for me. I'm 37+3 today and baby is engaged and the right way round etc but I'm worrying he's going to be really big (midwife keeps saying that I'm measuring big and bump is all baby'! and I'm having a home birth so pain options are limited! Both my previous ds's were born early so hoping this one will be too!

Well, I'm taking things into my own hands now - been to Holland and Barrett and picked up raspberry leaf tea, raspberry leaf tablets and clary & sage oil, which I'm sniffing on a flannel and have rubbed onto my bump with some massage oil. There's contrasting information and advice on Clary and Sage so not advising anyone to follow my lead but interested to see if anything happens tonight! x

xxmissbrightsidexx · 03/09/2014 19:29

LH I used clary sage oil when I was expecting my youngest & it brought on really strong contraction pains, I had him 5 days early but was in slow labour for weeks x

LH1981 · 03/09/2014 20:12

Uh-oh missbrightside, I hope that doesn't happen!!!

lilone1234 · 03/09/2014 21:50

LH I've updated to take you out of 'awaiting news' as your labour symptoms have stopped - though the oil might start it all off again! Guesstimated your due date is 21st Sept based on you being 37+3?

polka The thought of perineal massage makes me cringe and is not something i'll be trying at all! I've also read it's something you need to do quite regularly over several weeks for it to potentially make a difference.

Having some mildly uncomfortable BHs this evening. They're not contractions, but I do feel worried I'll be brushing off real labour as 'just BHs' - and I've done this once before lol!

polkadotdelight · 03/09/2014 22:13

Im so glad Im not the only one who hasnt been doing the massage!

slithytove · 03/09/2014 22:42

I've not bothered with massage, I tore with my first VB and fully expect to retear. I was sewn up beautifully then (if I do say so myself Grin) and I'm sure all will be well this time.

I have my shower curtain, dining chairs (home version of stirrups) and a bendy lamp all ready for the occasion!

Marjal12 · 04/09/2014 00:36

I'm updating very late but today was hectic and I've just spent the last hour up with the 3yr old who is convinced there's a spider in her bed!
Saw the anaesthetist this morning re possible section and he put my mind at ease a bit, then had an hour and a half break before back at the hospital for diabetic clinic. They wanted blood tests but there was no one to do them so I was delayed an hour! Late to my scan appointment which was supposed to be at 2.15. Finally got seen just before 5pm! But we got good news as baby has turned and I'm booked for induction on the 11th, with a sweep next Wednesday. Yay! Did some bouncing on the gym ball earlier to try and secure it head down but it's such a wriggler that it could turn again! Have had some strong BH today and mega kicks from baby, so maybe things will happen before next week but so glad I have a provisional date!

xxmissbrightsidexx · 04/09/2014 00:59

What massage? I haven't been doing any either only my pelvic floor exercises lol xx
