A few babies have already arrived, with more due to make their entrance soon, and it's not even September yet!

Congratulations white! Glad both u and baby r ok.

TheOnlySeven · 31/08/2014 14:35

white congratulations glad you're both ok.

dinah sorry you're having feeding problems, persevere and get the help you need.

I've never BF before due to my others being born too early, I wasn't fussed either way with Elizabeth and just said if I get to 37 weeks I'll try. She seems to be taking to it really well but ouch my nipples! Is it meant to hurt? It's only really the first few sucks that are painful other than the fact they're so tender I almost cried when the towel brushed against one after I had a bath earlier, is that normal or how do you know when the latch isn't right? She wanted feeding around every 30 minutes during the night, I'm so tired today.

CumbrianExile · 31/08/2014 14:36

Congratulations White Glad you are both doing well.

I agree, I want baby out but I am scared of baby being here! I keep thinking every little twinge is labour starting. Nothing yet though.

I suddenly seem to be very popular too. Lots of texts and facebook messages of people who I hardly talk to normally asking how I am doing, any sign yet etc. I am not even due til Wednesday. It could get very annoying before the baby actually arrives!

RedToothBrush · 31/08/2014 14:53

Congratulations White! I hope you are ok and are being looked after well.

Cumbrian, there is a reason we've been deliberately vague about exactly when the baby is coming, even though we've had a date for months. Only my parents know (we needed a guinea pig sitter). That said though DH is currently on the phone to his best mate about it...

House is tidy! And I've successfully sat on my bum all day. I think the to do list is pretty much repack bags (so DH knows where stuff is) and charge the phones/camera. I'm not used to being this organised!

Topsyloulou · 31/08/2014 14:58

Congratulations White. Sounds like it got a bit scary at times so glad to hear you're both doing well now.

I'm definitely ready for the little man to arrive now. Everything is done, feel like I'm wasting valuable time sitting round waiting for him to arrive & that means less time off with him when he is here. Had some tightenings the other day but nothing since. Lots of pressure, particularly when walking but don't think he's going to put in an appearance any time soon. Project eviction starts properly tomorrow tho.

DearDinah · 31/08/2014 16:19

Thank you everyone, having a really difficult day today, I am in so much pain. They made me get up & showered today & I nearly passed out. They want me out tomorrow so holding back the major drugs but DH kicked off a bit & they gave me some morphine. BFing consultant doesn't work weekends so I might not get to see them before I leave, I just don't have the energy to keep trying, my stomach hurts so much & I don't want anyone to manhandle us again Sad not at all how I thought i'd feel now, I have a beautiful daughter & can't even pick her up or feed her properly.

ilovemonstersinc · 31/08/2014 16:28

Dinah do not leave! Say your not happy. Voice your concerns

pumping atm cant post much but couldn't not post

CumbrianExile · 31/08/2014 17:09

Dinah I agree with ILove, don't leave if you are not comfortable/happy with anything. This is supposed to be a happy time for us, so get on at them to give you the help you need.

Red I tried to be vague with due dates in real life. Just kept saying early September...but it seems since I have finished work to go on Mat Leave it is every man and his dogs business as to whether I have 'any signs'. More annoying is when it is from people who barely talk to me week to week! I almost put a 'No f*cking signs yet...please stop asking me' status on facebook earlier but DH stopped me! I have taken to just not replying to the people who barely text me now Grin.

Good to see you being so organised, I need to repack the bags, but I am being very lazy today.

In case I forget tomorrow morning, good luck Red and Iate. Looking forward to hearing more baby news Smile

topmammy · 31/08/2014 17:14

Congrats white Sorry to hear you had a bit of a tough time but glad you're little one arrived safe :) Jessica also came out with her hand by her face!

I feel sorry for those of you struggling with late pregnancy and all the joys it brings. I feel quite lucky that since I popped at 37w I didn't have to deal with all that. I can't believe that technically I could still be pregnant right now if I'd gone overdue, crazy!

Dinah that's so pants of your hospital wanting you 'out' tomorrow , especially as you want support with bf. I don't know if it's at every hospital but at mine there are support workers that wear pink tops and their job is to visit you in your hospital room everyday and support you, if you want it, with bf. They ring me at home now every week to see if I need help too. Really push to see someone before you leave as you deserve to be helped.

theonly yep my nipples are sore and sensitive too. Also can't bear for clothing to brush against them and I'm 3weeks into bf. I've read that the first 6 weeks are the hardest in bf so I'm hoping my nips harden up soon!

Good luck red sounds like you're coping very well! x

KatharineClover · 31/08/2014 18:14

dinah this is advice I have had from a friend (who has used it herself): "They will not discharge you until you "have feeding established" so if you parrot "I am not confident that feeding is established" over and over till you see the people you want to. I got that tip from a friend who's a GP and breastfeeding support person :) "
Hope this helps x

CoolCat2014 · 31/08/2014 18:22

Congratulations to all the new mummies!

I'm 39+5 today, and ready to start project baby eviction! My hips hurts so bad!

So... What old wives tails are there for inducing labor other than dtd and long walks?

CumbrianExile · 31/08/2014 18:23

The midwife at my ante-natal class mentioned that too Katherine so its worth trying Dinah

CumbrianExile · 31/08/2014 18:32

I am the same Cool. Things I am trying are dtd, spicy food, bouncing on my birthing ball and raspberry tea leaf capsules. Not having much effect so far though. Going to try the walk tomorrow.
My DH has mentioned that he read playing with nipples also works Hmm, however I havent tried this!
A midwife at my ante natal class said that it isn't actually spicy food that helps, but anything that 'clears you out' so I guess if you are used to spicy food then it won't help.

KitKat1985 · 31/08/2014 19:15

Just popping on to say congrats to whiteblossom. Sorry to hear about all the bleeding and the fact that it sounds like the whole experience was quite scary, but glad all seems to be going okay now. xx

Dinah I agree with everyone else. Get your DH to kick off a little bit on your behalf if you don't feel you can manage it. Some decent pain-relief and some support with feeding will hopefully help you feel better. xx

I'm feeling the same as a lot of you ladies. I kinda want pregnancy over now as I'm uncomfortable and fed up, but scared of coping with a new born. I am also getting increasingly absolutely terrified anxious about giving birth and how I'm going to cope with the pain, so not really sure what I want at the moment. Confused

Clary sage oil is said to help start labour as it can cause contractions. On Friday I mixed a few drops of clary sage oil with some olive oil and used it to rub into my bump, I also put a few drops on a handkerchief and sniffed throughout the day. It's probably a coincidence but my labour started the next morning.

I had my homebirth visit today so all feeling a bit more real now, can't believe how many babies have been born already and it's only the 1st tomorrow!

It's my last week at work this week, it will be very odd to not have to go there everyday - looking forward to just pottering around and doing the last bits for baby though. I reckon I will be one of the last to evict my little lodger on here as not due till 25th and they (don't know if it's pink or blue) don't seem to be showing any signs of wanting to meet us anytime soon.

Congratulations to everyone who has already met their babies, and good luck to all of you who are meeting them very soon, I'm both excited and terrified in equal measure about the thought of being responsible for a baby........I've never even held a tiny baby, let alone had to look after one! Think my poor mum and friends with children will be getting many stupid questions, as will you guys Smile

slithytove · 31/08/2014 23:54

I'm pathetic.

Currently struggling not to cry at an episode of breaking bad.

Pregnancy / mummy hormones suck.

Marjal12 · 01/09/2014 00:08

I was stupid today and helped to put together a chest of drawers for the toddler so baby can have her current one. Suffering now as my back is killing me and my downstairs is really sore! DH keeps asking if I'm sure it's not labour Hmm
Congrats white! Sounds scary but glad you made it through the other side.
Dinah, echo everyone else - don't go until you're happy and demand more pain relief. It always amazes me that doctors/hospitals are so conservative with painkillers - like we're all junkies looking to get high! When midwives tell you to take paracetamol in early labour for example... You've had major surgery and will be able to get out of their hair a lot faster (and deal with baby better) if you're not in severe pain. Hoping you feel better and get some relief tonight. Thanks

dontevenblink · 01/09/2014 00:50

Congratulations white, glad you're both ok Thanks

dinah make sure you keep buzzing them for pain relief. I found the first couple of days were the worst and then it definitely got more manageable. Agree with what others said don't leave until you're ready, I struggled to establish feeding with dc1 and they wouldn't let me leave until I did, so its a good idea to use this.

theonly if it hurts a little bit when baby latches on but then is fine you're probably ok, but if it is really painful or carries on being painful I'd take her off and reposition, making sure she gets as much of the breast in her nipple as possible. Do this as many times as you need to. I didn't do that with dc1 and had lots of probs, but did with both my boys and it worked for me. You're right though, first 6 weeks or so are the hardest by far and then it does get a lot LOT easier so hold on if you can Thanks

Good luck again red and iate!

holls2000 · 01/09/2014 07:04

It's September!!!!! good luck red and iate Smile

dinah I hope they are treating you kindly today. Don't leave till feeding established - a friend of mine was kept in a week because feeds weren't sorted. don't let them fob you off.

Cindy5389 · 01/09/2014 07:34

Good luck red and iate!

My last day at work today. Glad for the fact I'm in so much pain when sitting down at a desk, but going to feel so strange not going there everyday. So mixed emotions. 38+2 today. Eviction notice is being served to baby this evening. I want this baby out ASAP.

Topsyloulou · 01/09/2014 08:12

Good luck Red and Iate. Hoping everything goes smoothly and you'll be enjoying newborn cuddles before too long.

Enjoy your last day at work Cindy.

Project eviction starts in full force today! Can now say I will be having a baby this month, eek!
