Just Shagging Grads Thread 9 - Roll Up, Roll Up all you graduated Viroids!

HungryHorace · 07/06/2014 21:41

Welcome to the 9th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed. :-)

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 24th outing!

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

For those not in the know, a viroid is an autocorrected version of 'ladies' from the 1st JS thread, which then stuck.

So, roll call below please, viroids. :-)

Wow, RPopz...slight phone malfunction there! :-)

Min, I'm glad you've felt some movement now. Our triage won't see you til 20 weeks, but your MW might've seen you in clinic to use the Doppler if you were concerned. I've been in twice for reduced movement monitoring this pregnancy, didn't at all last time (but bled twice instead, so went in!).

Juni, I have horrendous pelvic pain. I spent about an hour pissing people off by shuffling slowly round Asda this morning. :-/ Tough, I'm 36+3, I'm allowed to go bloody slowly. Mention it to your midwife so you get physio ASAP. I was referred urgently last week, but haven't had an appt yet. It'll be a waste of time soon.

We have a crib for the lounge, a bednest for the bedroom then a cot bed in the kids' room for when the transfer into there happens. At least the latter lasts til about 4 years old, so no need to think about it again for a while!

We're doing the combed thing for the same reason, once they're out of our room at 6 months or so, the nursery furniture will be good for years :)

RPopz · 06/07/2014 14:38

Does the bednest go on your bed? I love the idea of cosleeping but I know its a bit contentious.

ZylaB · 06/07/2014 14:56

Combed was meant to say cot bed.

For the first 6 months were using one of the cot thingies that sit next to your bed, right up to it, so you can reach in to the baby and they're next to you, but not quite in your bed iyswim?

We're going to DH's parents in a bit for tea, but I'm shattered and just want to slob about at home :/

cookielove · 06/07/2014 15:03

I was umming and ahhing about a bedside cot/crib or nest thing, or getting a crib but we live in a teeny tiny 2 bed flat and don't have the space or money for all of that. So i have decided without Dh's imput that we will be having a moses basket, although i plan to get it 2nd hand and that way we can move him from room to room without disturbing him to much. I don't want to spend to much on it, as we have been told several times this baby will be long, so he won't spend to much time in there any way.

And oh dear god, he feels really stretched out in there today and it is so uncomfortable. He needs to move and now!!

Omg min i can't believe you are 17 weeks already, i'm so confused where everyone is so can you put all your weeks on please!!

I'll start i'm 28+6

ZylaB · 06/07/2014 15:08

I'm 5weeks - and yes I know it's far far too early to be looking at furniture etc, I'll calm down soon and haven't actually bought anything :D

Nessalina · 06/07/2014 15:20

Agreed - time seems to be going by so fast, I can hardly keep up with myself let alone all you lot too! Wink

Horace - you're super close to the end now aren't you?! I might have to cave in to the Facebook group again just so I can see photees etc Smile

22+5

cookielove · 06/07/2014 15:22

zyla when i found out that i was pregnant the first thing i looked at was pushchairs. We finally bought one at 17 ish weeks, a steal on ebay!

wilmabedrock · 06/07/2014 15:28

We borrowed a crib last time. hadn't actually remembered that. Damn will have to find another from somewhere.

Anyone who already has children, what age did you take the cot sides off/ put into toddler bed?

I'm 12+1.

JuniDD · 06/07/2014 15:44

I am 24+5.

Just ate a load of toffee popcorn and now I feel very very sick. URGH...

HungryHorace · 06/07/2014 16:03

RPopz, the bednest attaches to the side of the bed so all you have to do is reach out to baby and they're there. :-) Great if you have a c section like I did / will. It's co-sleeping without co-sleeping as they have their own space, but you can settle them with your hand. I loved using it last time.

And yes, I'm really close to the end. Thank god. Less than 4 weeks now (or 3 if I can persuade a consultant to do my ELCS early due to my pelvic pain). It's quite scary!

DD outgrew the bednest / Moses basket at 4.5 months. Not expecting this one to be in them much longer. Then I shall sell the crib on and the bednest back to the supplier who guarantee you getting 50% of what you paid for it! which is good.

Bednest rental: www.bednest.com

We initially rented, then bought it when we decided to try for number 2. They deducted the price of the rental from the purchase price, which was good. :-)

14+1 Smile

Minion · 06/07/2014 17:20

Le panic is over. After a afternoon of shuffling round the trafford centre (more bargains from gap 5 baby vests for £11) b and q and waitrose, then putting another curtain up and 2 loads of washing later, I finally decided to sit on my arse and cheer fed on.. Turns out orange is too...
Woohoo, lovely feeling ain't it!

17+4

HungryHorace · 06/07/2014 17:22

I got carried away there...35+3, not 36. The ELCS is making me lose track!

Ok, so i have been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, and its getting really confusing now. Also been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. The last three nights i have had my blood sugars spike, but the rest of the day not had any issues (argh) but today i knew i was running out of sticks so i told myself after being very good all day and having a veggie snack before hand i'll treat my self to a scoop of my new ice-cream (i know i know) any way one scoop turned into 3/4 of tub Blush so i thought i would test my sugars to see the damage i had done and absolutely no spike Shock

So i think Carbs may be my only nemesis argh!!

Any who that ice cream was sainsbury's caramel and honey comb!!

JuniDD · 06/07/2014 21:17

hey cookie, GD is really confusing. So do you just have to control the spikes by cutting out your carbs or your sugar intake?

That ice cream is really nice but WAY sugary! Hope you're ok. x

wilmabedrock · 06/07/2014 21:33

Horace did you find your DD had trouble settling when she moved into the cot and you weren't next to her anymore? Hadn't considered a bednest but am going to research. However MiniWil was a very good sleeper so I'm a little scared to deviate from the last 'plan'.

cookielove · 06/07/2014 22:00

Juni i am still figuring out, and i am also hoping the drug i start taking tomorrow for my thyroid problem may actually help because that is mean to kick start my metabolism. I shouldn't of had the ice-cream but can't change it now.

HungryHorace · 06/07/2014 22:29

I'm hoping we get a sleeper this time. DD's lactose intolerant and it took 4 months to diagnose. The pain obviously affected her sleeping. :-/ She's not so bad now, bar teething, etc.

Wil, she slept better in her own room as we didn't disturb each other! She still woke, but nowhere near as often.

Just back from my 25 week midwife appointment which was lovely! The midwife was so nice, interested and chatty. The bump is spot on and we got to hear the heartbeat. I'd been feeling a bit wobbly that it's a bit of a production line and you never see the same person twice so it was really nice that she kept asking me if I had any questions or concerns and I could just ramble on. Hoping this is a good start to a good week!

HungryHorace · 07/07/2014 10:42

Mine is like that, Juni. It's nice that they are interested, isn't it?

(I hadn't realised til last week that she was the midwife in recovery with me after DD...too many drugs / too much trauma to remember her face!)

Having my first taste of hormonal hysteria today I think.... the groomer absolutely scalped my poor puppy yesterday and I'm so gutted about it... and now I'm having a massive mood crash the like of which has not been seen since I got upduffed... Sad Feel a bit daft.

JuniDD · 07/07/2014 11:25

Do you see the same one each time horace? I can see the pros and cons of seeing someone different. If I didn't get on with one that you saw each time it could be unpleasant, but it's nice to build a bit of a rapport like with the GP.

Haha, I asked about if I'd put on too much weight, as my knees have been aching and she sort of laughed and said "Hmm, you're very slight!" (not really but lots of obesity around here so....). Just got aching knees!

Aw, poor rpopz...there's more of that to come I'm afraid m'darling! Just roll through it and don't worry about feeling dafty. Have a Cornetto.

ohfourfoxache · 07/07/2014 14:45

Aw, familiar usernames!

I know I've not been on the JS thread for an age, but could I join you lovely viroids?

After 2.5 years of not being careful, I got a BFP on Friday! EDD 10 march 2015.

Cannot fucking believe it. I mean, just literally, it has not sunk in and I keep waiting to wake up.

How long before the disbelief wears off, ladies?

Hope you're all well xx
