New thread ladies. I should really leave it to someone who can link the old one. Can someone add the edd list and whatnot? Or maybe we should start again now edds are changing after scan.

Oh, I'm always winning races in the pool against people who have no idea I'm thrashing them. I swim three or four times a week, and am still going to pump classes and using a cross trainer. I got a personal trainer to give me an antenatal routine, and I've felt so much better for doing it.

Kirstipops · 05/04/2014 12:36

Haha ohthegoats, glad I'm not the only mental :P I am enjoying Pilates but the cardio exercise definitely gives you that extra I think.
cotton that sounds like a frigging nightmare, no let up until 28 weeks is awfully mean :O

Me23 · 05/04/2014 12:39

cottonwool I feel for you I hate night shifts. 7 in a row is not fair on anyone pregnant or not! I would ask your shift creator to swap if you can.
I have to say I'm very impressed you have your rota that far in advance are you clinical? I don't even know what I'm working after the next 2 weeks it's ridiculous. The nhs don't really care if you're pregnant a few of my midwife friends were still expected to do 12.5 hour nights without a break if busy(most of the time) on their feet. Therefore I may be forced to take early mat leave or at least try to get signed off nights by my gp.

cottonwool4brains · 05/04/2014 12:47

Me23 yes I am clinical but I swap jobs every 4 month's so we get given the whole Rota at the start of the job (I'm a gp trainee). Currently on a and e and they honestly could not care less. I will be going on early mat leave too because I think this Rota would make me sick otherwise.

ohthegoats · 05/04/2014 12:53

I've tried going to yoga, but it was too boring - I clock watched the whole time. Body Balance is alright, but still.. clock watching. I think I'll wait to do more of that when I'm getting cumbersome.

MundayCakes85 · 05/04/2014 13:15

Cottonwool in my department previous pregnant people have been signed off to get out of nights. Might be worth speaking to your GP/ MW?
I've got nights up until 29 weeks as that's when the rota finishes.

magichandles · 05/04/2014 13:17

I find I can't take multi-vitamins (pregnancy ones or not) first thing in the morning without them making me feel nauseous, I have to take them with lunch or later. Once I get to 12 weeks I'm going to keep taking the folic acid I've got until it runs out, I don't see any harm in that. I take Vit D and calcium supplements as well for a medical condition, so I'll obviously keep taking those.

binkybunny · 05/04/2014 13:37

So jealous of those of you that have stayed active. I cant wait to find some classes I can do and have the energy to do them! Really missing my Ashtanga yoga but have been told by mw, gp, class tutor and the ante/post natal specialist at work its a no go and theres only one antenatal yoga class at 7.30pm 20 miles away! I'm involved in marketing our pre and post natal classes now so hoping I can talk our company to offering more than just one antenatal exercise class per week.

cotton your rota sounds awful, I really dont envy you :-(

LondonJen · 05/04/2014 14:06

My mw told me to carry on taking the Pregnacare right through the pregnancy, and mentioned the vitamin D they have as others have said.

Sorry about your shifts Cotton that does not sound fun.

I know I've only been posting here a coupld of days but can I please ask you ladies about my nipples?! Blush Just noticed today that the ends are half covered in a creamy/yello colour. Assume is a milk thing. I can't tell if it's behind the skin or leaking out or crusting up or what. Just looking for reassurance that it's normal. Has anyone else had this? Why isn't it mentioned in my book?! (I am 13+3)

mum2kiss · 05/04/2014 15:22

London it might be thrush...seems a little early to be milk but then each person is different so it could be that. Maybe check with you gp/midwife

I had lots of plans for today but since puking I haven't really done anything! We're off to the circus later. Dd has been a nightmare today so I feel like we are rewarding her behaviour but tickets are alreadt purchased so hey ho...ive just told her not to.expect gifts/souvenirs when we get there!

robindeer · 05/04/2014 15:35

Hello ladies, I've only posted once or twice as I'm only 11wks so trying not to tempt fate by being too excited about anything. Scan next Friday but breaking my 'just-lurking' stance to ask you for advice on clothes!

I am fairly slim but curvy and have always been size 10-12. I have what I can only describe as a really obvious baby bump though and none of my clothes fit. I mean quite literally, been holding my trousers together with hair bobbles, trying to hide the bump with scarves, jackets etc. I am still wearing my pyjamas right now because I don't want to squash myself into something else ill fitting. I feel kind of gross to be honest. Have done zero exercise since BFP as I'm exhausted and I eat constantly to stave off nausea.

So, am I just fat?!

Can I really justify going to buy maternity clothes already?! I just want my scan so that I know I haven't made it all up!

TroubleAndFyfe · 05/04/2014 16:52

london it sounds exactly like colostrum on your nipples. Google some photos to confirm!
robin it sounds very unlikely you've made it up! Grin Buy yourself a few bits; if your clothes don't fit it's not too early!

ldt87 · 05/04/2014 17:20

Hi everyone 13+2 today, feeling shattered!

I think in a few weeks I'll be buying some new clothes as I'm starting to get uncomfortable in what I have, not been in jeans for a couple of weeks already xx

Kirstipops · 05/04/2014 18:05

Robin I was the exact same, usually a 10-12 and used to a flattish tum so the sudden bloat felt weird and uncomfortable. I ate and ate for about a month to stave off the nausea tho so my weight gain wasn't just baby haha! After a couple of weeks it's evolved into a bit of a more definite looking bump, I'm still going with the bauble on the trousers trick at the moment and I bought some long line maternity tops to cover up the undone button and zipper!

ohthegoats · 05/04/2014 18:06

I haven't worn my jeans since mid January - first it was bloat, then it was the wobbly belly-fat, now it's actual start of a bump. I thought it would start low down, but nooooo.. it's gone quite hard just below my ribs. When I lie down I can feel it hard all the way down, but the wobble is in the way lower down, especially when I'm standing. It's been leggings and dresses ever since.

Today though, first day of school holidays - always a pajama day. No bra either.. rock and roll.

pebble82 · 05/04/2014 18:12

Me and DP just started Googling prams (we're getting a bit carried away I know but it's exciting) So confused! Got absolutely no idea what we're looking for, what's good, what's bad etc. Any mums out there got any tips or recommendations?

ohthegoats · 05/04/2014 18:23

I'm going to get a hand-me-down maxi cosi travel system from my SIL. Both her kids seem to have done alright in it - less lying flat when out, but it hasn't seem to have affected them in any way.

Loulou888 · 05/04/2014 19:01

London I have too

Grannyapple · 05/04/2014 19:16

I have an icandy peach...& the converter bits for making it a double.. Glides like a dream but takes up a lot of space in the boot which is a pain if you've done lots of shopping too..

magichandles · 05/04/2014 19:20

Pebble - I found the best thing when choosing a pram was to work out what you needed it to do first. When I had DC1 I didn't drive, so I needed something that I could use a lot, that I could bump down a flight of around 7 steps from our front door, that I could get on and off buses, would fit through our narrow flat door and would cope with the tree-root infested local pavements. Getting it in and out of the car a lot wasn't a problem, but DH drives so we would need to fit it in the car boot. So ultimately I needed something light but with sturdy wheels and good suspension.

Also, if this is a first DC, think about whether you are planning on having another one sooner rather than later - a lot of my friends have a 22 - 24 month age gap and we all said we wished we'd got the Phil & Ted's that converts into a double first time around as we ended up having to buy a double buggy as well anyway.

I ended up getting the Bugaboo Cameleon, which was admittedly expensive, but has lasted brilliantly (still looks like new) and should do 3 children no problem (I bought a P&Ts when I had DC2, but sold it when we'd finished with it).

pebble82 · 05/04/2014 19:23

We were looking at the mamas and papas sola2 (among others). Think it's new this year so not many reviews yet. So much choice!

Bumpforme2014 · 05/04/2014 19:41

I too am overwhelmed by number of buggies on market, we were thinking about bugaboo buffalo because DH is very tall and needs long extendable handle but then I don't have a car so need something to get around London in, then if we move to scotland next year like we are thinking we want something more sturdy and bigger - too difficult!

TroubleAndFyfe · 05/04/2014 20:35

Spend all your money on pretty slings! Wink We were given a mamas and papas pramette and a mothercare stroller. He's probably been in them a total of 10 times combined. We live on a cliff in a costal town full of alleyways and runs of steps and walk everywhere so that combined with how much I love carrying DS has meant it just works better for us. He's walked pretty much everywhere for the past 4 months so I've just carried a wrap with me in case he tires.

hefner · 05/04/2014 20:51

pebble I've got a sola and I like it, not sure how the sola 2 compares though. I found the sola fairly light, easy to steer, easy to fold and folds up quite small. It copes fine with bumpy pavements although probably wouldn't be great off road. I bought the car seat adaptors and used it with the car seat a lot, it's really handy to be able to pop into a shop without waking the baby to put them in the pushchair. I swapped to a smaller stroller when DD was about 18 months but I'll go back to the sola for the new baby.

I'm hoping I can manage without a double buggy, maybe a buggy board for DD, or toddler in the pushchair and baby in a sling? Has anyone else got a 3 year age gap?

magichandles · 05/04/2014 20:59

Hefner - 3 years should be fine with those combinations - I only really used my double heavily between 2-3 between DC1 and 2. There'll be 3 years and a month between DC2 and this one and I'm going to just use a buggy board.
