Hello everyone, off we go again...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
wejammin · 29/01/2014 22:38

We've just bought "there's a house in my mummy" and "pirate Pete and the new baby" to give to DS for his 2nd birthday next week, they're lovely. He's told everyone at nursery that "his" baby is in mummy's tummy. Last night he gave my belly a kiss. So adorable. Let's see how he feels when his baby arrives!

Thatsnotmyfigure · 29/01/2014 22:42

Secretly - thanks for asking. Still getting nausea and tummy ache in the evenings and actually pretty fed up of the first trimester. It's dragging!! Those book suggestions look great! I've heard ' There's a house in my Mummy' is v good.
Will be keeping a watchful eye on double buggy suggestions as DS will be 2 exactly. I really don't want to give up my current one but I guess it will have to be done

Owlysims · 29/01/2014 22:59

Welcome that'snotmyfigure I thought about you Only the other day as we got our bfps together before Xmas and noticed you weren't on here! Hoped all was well! Glad you've joined! Smile

NameToBeDecided · 30/01/2014 06:45

Ooh thank you secretly I'll have a look at them.

Mitchell81 · 30/01/2014 07:02

Owly yes but probably will only move next year now. My scan is at 14:10 so got all day to wait. What time is yours
Welcome to the new ladies.
I am wary of telling more people, some of my family and close friends know. But I'm in no rush telling other people. I don't want people to say things that I might feel hurt by.

Our boys know and are very excited and have overheard DH and I talking about the gender blood test so will tell them when we know whether it's a baby brother or sister. The sad part is that they want another sister but we keep saying how nice it will be to have another baby brother. Time will say I suppose. Does anyone know more about the nub theory from your 12 week scans? It's something to do with the angel which says boy or girl.

mssleepyhead · 30/01/2014 07:43

Morning all,
I've just realised I'm allowed to have Rennies when pregnant! I'm so happy! This is going to change my life, right...??

Good luck scan people : ) hope it's another happy day!

Nulanoo · 30/01/2014 08:07

Morning ladies how is everyone? Good luck sigh scans today. My upset tummy is getting worse so I'm staying off work not sure if bump related or just germs caught it from the kids at work!

Missvaughan85 · 30/01/2014 08:37

Thanks for adding me yesterday Horace.
Girls I was so naughty yesterday, I had a prawn sandwich. I was so fed up of conflicting views in food so though stuff it. I want one. I'm having one. There are obvious things I wouldn't eat pate liver. But it was yum!!
Good luck to all ladies having scans today.
The Facebook page is strange. Seeing normal names and normal pictures. It'll take some getting used to!! X x

Owlysims · 30/01/2014 08:46

Mitchell why would people say things to upset you? They should all be over the moon for you! Yes next year is probably good! Have first few months with familiarity! Mines not until 2.30 so will also be waiting the day away! Is it finally starting to seem closer to you now? Mine just is! Only just over a week!

Good luck to everyone who has scans! Think I'll join fbook after scan Smile

HungryHorace · 30/01/2014 09:00

MissV, cooked prawns are fine. I've had prawns too. I love them. I love the massive Aussie ones better though, Mitchell! :-)

Good luck for all the scans today. It'll all be fine!

AntoinetteCosway · 30/01/2014 09:01

Hope all scans go well today Smile

I'm feeling dreadful-I have a really sore throat and am all sinusy. The Boots pharmacist I spoke to yesterday said I can't even have the plain glycerin cough mixture so I'm a bit miserable. Any ideas of what to take? I'm normally a complete wimp with this kind of stuff and would be taking decongestants and throat spray like it were going out of business!

AntoinetteCosway · 30/01/2014 09:03

Prawns are fine missvaughan! As long as you're not eating them raw!

HungryHorace · 30/01/2014 09:31

Antoinette, hot water with honey and lemon. Manuka honey if you can stretch to it.

There's really not much we can have. :-/

Secretlypregnant · 30/01/2014 09:39

Antoinette, you could try adding a tablespoon of cider vinegar to a bit of warm water and honey.

Mummytobeandsoanxious2014 · 30/01/2014 09:40

Good luck with the scans today.

FriendofDorothy · 30/01/2014 09:43

Antoinette you can definitely use nasal decongestants - try Optrivine it's brilliant.

I am feeling really anxious about my scan. I am so scared that they are goig to tell me that the baby is dead or there is a problem.

HungryHorace · 30/01/2014 09:59

Friend, I had that exact worry and everything looked fine.

I told the sonographer how nervous I was and she made sure she told me ASAP that everything was OK.

God, I'm weepy today! Not sure what's wrong with me (bar pregnancy!).

AntoinetteCosway · 30/01/2014 10:02

Thanks for the suggestion-didn't know decongestants were ok so that's brilliant!

I had the same fear Dorothy and was looking at the sonographer's face trying to work out if she looked worried until she turned the screen round. The chances are everything is completely fine though I know that doesn't feel real till you see that little heartbeat. I hope it goes well.

flymo79 · 30/01/2014 10:07

I felt the same, Friend, I know it's no consolation, but the odds are with you. Lots of luck. Is it today?

flymo79 · 30/01/2014 10:08

Nulanoo - I have an upset tummy too, was really bad sunday, has got steadily better, but today feels bad again and has come with odd cramps. Feels like before period. eeeek.... it's so unnerving not knowing what is uterus and what is bowel-related! sorry for tmi....

Thatsnotmyfigure · 30/01/2014 10:18

Thanks Owlysims!! Wow those BFP's before Christmas seem ages ago now!! Anyone with scans today??

ItsSoFluffyImGonnaDie · 30/01/2014 10:19

Antoinette I spoke to two different pharmacists when I had my cough and was told the glycerin one is the only one you can use - it's only sugar and water basically so nowt in there to harm you or baby, unless you're diabetic I suppose? It was the only thing that kept me going for about a week! Definitely a no to the decongestants in tablets though.

Missv cooked prawns are fine, M&S do a nice little snack pack with them and some sweet chilli dip, yummy!

Thatsnot Team yellow is that we're not finding out the sex of the baby during any scans. I am an unwitting member, DH really doesn't want to know (even though I really do!) I've decided to go Team Yellow for now - although I can't promise that won't change at the 20 week scan Grin

HungryHorace · 30/01/2014 10:24

That'snot, team yellow means we aren't finding out the sex. :-)
