Great news on all the scans this week. I've been lurking and reading all the posts just haven't commented.

My scan is a week on Friday but it feels like forever away.

I wanted to ask about scan photos... on my notes that came with my appointment they tell me that you can purchase 1 print at £5 or 3 at £10. Are all hospitals charging?

The EPU gave me a print for free but it was so dark you couldn't make anything out and I was glad I took a photo of the screen when they left me to dress. You can see everything!!!

I don't want to chance paying for pics if all my hospitals are as bad quality as the EPU prints.

PinaColadas · 29/01/2014 13:12

Hi Lynnie

My PCT you get the 12 week scan pic free, only got one though. My pic is good, a nice fetal position.

20 week letter says 3 pics for £5 or a DVD of a few pictures for £10 or both I guess. You have to take pound coins and buy tokens from a machine.

HungryHorace · 29/01/2014 13:12

We have to pay £4 a photo. We made the mistake of getting two, almost identical, photos with DD. We only bought one this week.

£5 a photo is steep!

Owlysims · 29/01/2014 13:45

Yes I think all charge now, money goes to hospital and research and stuff I think! I think ours is 3 pound a photo, planning on getting 3, one for me, one for dh and one to give to dd! Tbh no matter what the quality I think you'd regret not having one Smile

travispickles · 29/01/2014 13:51

Just uploaded scan picture to my profile. Anyone else got scan pictures to show?

Owlysims · 29/01/2014 13:58

Lovely scan pic Travis and beautiful pics of your dd!!

Owlysims · 29/01/2014 13:59

My scan pics are from 8 weeks and very blob like! Didn't get scan pic at 10 weeks, but hoping to have a scan pic soon!!

travispickles · 29/01/2014 14:03

My dd convinced baby is a girl, and is calling her Lucy. She is adamant it isn't a boy. My friend suggested lucifer for a boy!!

lucyfluff · 29/01/2014 14:04

lucyfluff · 29/01/2014 14:04

2beornot · 29/01/2014 14:06

Yes we have to pay for ours! £5 for 2! You have to pay before you go in (at a machine) then had over the receipt to the sonographer. One thing that DH and I are still aggrieved about is that when I had a mmc we had paid for photos and couldn't get the money back! I know it shouldn't have mattered but with all the car park charges we paid that week it's the least the could have done Grin

2beornot · 29/01/2014 14:07

Oh and the ones from this time are crap. Can barely tell there's a baby there at all!

funnyfish2 · 29/01/2014 14:25

2be that must have been like salt in a very deep wound. How heartless of them to not at least offer money back.

At ours it's a suggested donation of one quid and you can drop it into a co in box AFTER you're finished so if there's no good picture or bad news you haven't already paid. The sonographer did not look bothered one way or the other about the money, and we got five shots of which two are really lovely.

We did have this funny experience. when she couldn't get a good look at the baby bc it's back was facing us, she asked me to lift my pelvis and bang it quite hard on the bed, lift pelvis again and shake it vigorously as if I was doing a belly dance on steroids. I repeated a couple of more times, and the baby turned around! She assured me no damage was done, and it was nice to get a clear view of the basic features and bits. She also needed to do the nuchal fold stuff which I guess was another reason for making me jiggle!

Congrats to all who recently had good scans, and good luck to those waiting!

FriendofDorothy · 29/01/2014 15:01

Is it a bad time to mention we get scan pics free? About the only thing we do though!

travispickles · 29/01/2014 15:05

I am starving! Really hungry today. Think it's because I am so tired.

Missvaughan85 · 29/01/2014 15:59

Is every one telling peo

Missvaughan85 · 29/01/2014 15:59

Sorry posted too quick. Is everyone whose had scans telling people now?? X x

PinaColadas · 29/01/2014 16:07

I really don't understand how they can justify £5-10 for photo's when you can get prints from Asda for 25p :D I wonder if thats why my PCT do 12 week ones free in case of MMC, thats so bad that they didn't offer you your money back 2beornot

Missvaughan Yep everyone knows now, we did the cliche of Facebook a few days after our scan, I was 13 weeks.

Missvaughan85 · 29/01/2014 16:16

Can someone add me to the Facebook page?? Please x x

HungryHorace · 29/01/2014 16:17

MissV, PM me your real name and email address and what your profile picture is if there's a few people with your name!

HungryHorace · 29/01/2014 16:17

lucyfluff · 29/01/2014 16:40

I put a smiley face on facebook today....cue baby no.4?/spill the beans!!!!!!!

Not spilling yet!!!

Shakshuka · 29/01/2014 16:45

I told my kids today that they could tell their friends since we had the NIPT and ultrasound results and I'm 13 weeks tomorrow. Well, they start school at 8.30 and dd1 had a special assembly at 9 which I went to. Between 8.30 and 9, they managed to tell everyone!! About 20 people congratulated me, even random people I barely know :)

ItsSoFluffyImGonnaDie · 29/01/2014 16:48

Missv we've told friends but only the ones we see on a regular basis. Family have known since 9w. My boss and HR know and have done since about 8w (I was off ill the week before Christmas) as does one lady in my department. I promised my boss he could 'announce' it once I'd had my combined test results - which arrived yesterday - but he's off until Friday. I've not told anyone else at work mainly because one of my colleagues is really bloody annoying and will make it about her somehow, so the later she finds out the better Grin

PinaColadas · 29/01/2014 17:06

Aw telling people is exciting, It's a bit of an anticlimax when you run out of people to tell I thought haha.

We were the same Fluffy had told family early on and friend at about 10 weeks, it seemed daft to hinde it after they all knew about MC they knew we would be trying again and everyone had guessed anyway!

Now no way I could have hidden til last Wednesday day of the scan, my tummy is to blatant!
