Hello everyone, off we go again...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HungryHorace · 28/01/2014 17:02

Yay, Antoinette...due date twin! :-)

Ruggle · 28/01/2014 17:04

Anyone had to deal with nits whilst pregs? Can't think of anything worse, especially as I have waist length hair....but oh just came home with a leaflet from sd's school and apparently sd's bezzie friend has them. Urgh....

Ruggle · 28/01/2014 17:24

Oh....and has anyone watched 12 Years a Slave? I saw it last night and couldn't speak until after the credits. Such a heartbreaking story. I have been crying just thinking about it today.

Owlysims · 28/01/2014 17:26

Ew ruggle no! My worse nightmare! Dd is only 2 (very nearly 3) and thankfully not had that joy yet but im sure it's not far away...good luck! Are you close to your mum? Get her round to sort you all out!!!

Ruggle · 28/01/2014 17:36

No...mum's in Ireland and I can't even remotely imagine her having the patience to deal with nits.

In pregnancy we have to make do with combing them out as the lotions are full of horrible chemicals.

Ruggle · 28/01/2014 17:38

Actually I'm not going to let OH use the lotions on SD either. She has eczema. We don't even know if she has nits yet and he was halfway out the door to get some treatment from the chemist!

Owlysims · 28/01/2014 17:39

Get dh to comb them out for you? And yes some tea tree conditioner to comb them out with, I'm literally itching for you!!

Owlysims · 28/01/2014 17:39

Get not yes!!

Ruggle · 28/01/2014 17:41

I've been itching since reading the leaflet. Hoping it's just psychological!

Shakshuka · 28/01/2014 17:52

A couple of years ago both my kids (who have curly thick hair, especially dd1) got lice. Not nits, but full blown lice. It was a nightmare. We got their hair cut short (cue hysteria on the part of dd1 but you seriously could not get the comb through her hair) and endless treatments but the buggers kept on coming back. Took months to get rid of them. They do nit checks at their school here. It's done by a private company who then, if nits or lice are found, urgently come to your house to treat the hcild and all the family at $100 per person!!!

Just make sure you comb through your dd's hair with a nit comb (and lots of conditioner) every few days. That way if there are any nits or a louse or two made it on to her head, you can prevent any outbreak. Definitely don't use chemicals if there are no lice. There's really no need.

Shakshuka · 28/01/2014 17:58

Yay!! Just got a phone call from the NIPT counsellor. All clear - no signs of any chromosomal disorder that they test for. And the sonographer was right, it's girl number 3 for us :)

lucyfluff · 28/01/2014 18:08

Lovely shak Grin im envious of the girls!!!!

2beornot · 28/01/2014 18:15

Glad all the scans/test results are going well! I'm just plodding along, thinking about getting rid of all the junk we've been storing in the nursery for the last 18 months!

DH and I "in discussions" over finding out the sex. 7 weeks to decide!

WeeJo08 · 28/01/2014 18:29

Yay Shak that's great news! And congrats on the news it's a baby girl too! Grin

Ruggle That sounds like a real nightmare Confused No advice but plenty of sympathy. Whereabouts in Ireland are you from? I'm from Northern Ireland.

AntoinetteCosway · 28/01/2014 18:43

Grin Hungry!

HungryHorace · 28/01/2014 18:57

What does your DH think about being properly surrounded by girls, Shak?

And good news on the test results! :-)

No more nit talk please!!

ItsSoFluffyImGonnaDie · 28/01/2014 19:02

Great news for all the test results today! I've got another one to add - I finally got my blood test results back from the combined test today (had them taken two weeks ago tomorrow). One in 100,000 so feeling pretty happy at the mo. I realised why they'd taken so long to come back as my blood had to be sent off to Birmingham, from Herts! That's a bloody long journey my little vial of blood had to take! Grin

Ruggle · 28/01/2014 19:12

WeeJo, I'm originally from N.Ireland too. Born in Dundonald but grew up just outside Belfast. My parents live up near the Giant's Causeway. I haven't lived over there since leaving school at 18....21 years ago!

WeeJo08 · 28/01/2014 19:15

Ruggle I'm from Glengormley and we're now over Carryduff/Saintfield direction. We lived away since leaving uni (so since about 2006) but came back last year a month after DD was born.

Shakshuka · 28/01/2014 19:54

hungry
I think dh is grateful that at least the dog's a male :)
Seriously, he has four brothers and I have one so there's plenty of opportunities for male bonding in our families! He has four nephews - obviously all boys - so we're clearly breaking the boy streak that's going on in his family!!

Missvaughan85 · 28/01/2014 20:10

Hi ladies, scan went well, measured one day less. So I'm sticking with original. I had to empty my bladder twice as it was too full. I ended up with an empty bladder. So next time I'm not going to worry. X x x

Owlysims · 28/01/2014 20:14

Great news miss v Smile

Jenbee1 · 28/01/2014 20:25

Fab scan news over the last couple of days. Well done ladies.

HungryHorace · 28/01/2014 20:44

Good news, MissV :-)

Missvaughan85 · 28/01/2014 21:06

Thanks owly and hungry, ended today on a low though, my spd has defo come back with vengeance and struggling to walk without being uncomfortable.
Told all family today so that's been nice but I've said that's it from me and producing grandchildren. I'm done after this one. Feel too shitty to do it again. Just going to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy once sickness has gone x
