I lost you all for a few days

resipsa I'm so so sorry about the miscarriage and your dog Thanks. Hope the rest of the year is considerably better for you

winkle really pleased the scan went well and you have announced it to everyone.

kitty that birth experience sounded horrific. You poor thing.

red the infection sounds awful, you sound quite down in the dumps hope everything is ok.

ted sorry Bruce is still ill my two have spent the whole of winter ill, I really sympathise

Since October the kids have had

Dd = 6 colds, thrush, athletes foot, conjunctivitis, d&v
Ds = 4 colds, conjunctivitis
Me = 3 colds, d&v

Neither one if them has been very ill just constantly getting minor bugs. I'm sick of it, each time they get sknething I think well they can't get ill again they've had everything already.

If this continues I may put dd in a bubble.

twinklestar2 · 01/02/2014 20:46

What is mrsbri's news?

twinklestar2 · 01/02/2014 21:02

Girls how realistic is it that I'll 1. I'll want to leave an 8 month old baby for a wedding and Thailand or 2. That i could take baby with me?

WhenSheWasBadSheWasExhausted · 01/02/2014 22:07

I would want the baby with me but I'm a breast feed them forever and co sleep with them type. Others might say different.

Is the wedding in Thailand sounds amazing.

Oh Mrs Bri is pregnant again - had her twelve week scan due around the same time as you. She'll have a tiny gap between kids.

fatasbutter · 02/02/2014 10:08

thingy how are things?? Must be getting soooo close now - any news (sorry if you're gettig annoyed with those types of questions!!!) x

Thingymajigs · 02/02/2014 14:21

I'm due tomorrow and until a few hours ago I expected to be reaching 42 weeks. I've been having constant BH contractions this afternoon though with backache so maybe it won't be too long afterall.
How are you doing fatas? When are you scheduled for a c-section?
twinkle, I think I would be happy to leave an 8 month old for a couple of hours with a trusted relative but I'd be stressing out if it was any longer than that.

RedRobin1 · 02/02/2014 16:49

twinkle I'd also take baby with as couldn't leave her with anyone for longer than overnight stay..and get a direct flight without stopovers.

when please tell me some positives about breast feeding as feeling so close to giving up. I should type this in bfing threads but maybe some if you can share how to make it work. How do I leave the house with her? I can't and don't want to bf in public?

Tomorrow thingy!!!! Are you sure they are bh???
Winkle, Thailand is amazing, I'd have no worries taking my girls and 8 months is a great age to travel with plus you won't have to pay, can't speak for everyone but I'd be shocked if you wanted to leave them for any more then a couple of nights, I've never left mine although one night off wouldn't worry me would love
When I don't want to stop bf dd2 either, she's my baby and I want her to stay that way forever!!
Dd2 has got a cold again Hmm

How are you doing thingy??! Did the BH progress into actual contractions? Fx you are on your way to holding your baby soon

OP posts:
Thingymajigs · 02/02/2014 20:27

I'm on my birthing ball grimacing through the contractions now so I think this could be it. I'm not sure why the contractions are so frequent though. Every 3 minutes seems a bit silly for early labour. No way to know for sure what, if any, stage I'm at really. Oh well, can't be long. bounces a bit more

RedRobin1 · 02/02/2014 20:50

Go to the hospital thingy Smile

Mine were 3 mins apart and I was 8cms already!

GOOD LUCK THINGY!! Looking forward to the birth announcement!

Re Thailand - what about jabs and diseases etc? Is it safe? I'm chief bridesmaid so would like to go.

weechops · 03/02/2014 06:17

Lost you all for a while there.

Littlest ds seems to take up all of my time just now, and with my other 2 jostling for attention my brain is like a sieve!

Twinkle so pleased your scan went well. Would love to seethe pic :)

Res I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so unfair x

Ted hope Bruce gets better soon!

Thingy hope you have your baby in your arms by now and we hear your announcement soon :)

And my wee pest is shouting for milk again so sorry for everyone I missed. Hope you have a good day and ill catch up soon x

Alexandra6 · 03/02/2014 06:45

I lost you all for a while too but have enjoyed catching up! thingy can't wait to hear the announcement! winkle Thailand sounds amazing, I'd def take mine with me, great news on the scan too. res I'm also impressed with your positive attitude and hope 2014 is your year, massive hugs. Hi everyone else Smile

Can someone add me to the fb group please? Is it def a private group?

I was really struggling with the crying sessions and wind/reflux/colic but dare I say it it's getting better! She just seems more happy/settled generally, and despite still crying, we don't have the intense hours of screaming every day anymore Smile She's 8 weeks now and now I've started enjoying things more and it isn't quite as tough, I'm starting to wonder if we should be laying groundwork for a routine? Currently she sleeps on me during the day or in her pram if we're out and about (she'll only sleep well in those two places so can't put her down!) and then at night she will go into her cosleeper bed but only if fed to sleep or with a dummy. She goes to bed when we do and sleeps approx 3/4 hours (though we had one AMAZING night of 7 hours straight!) and she then wakes for a long feed/wind before I try and get her back down again for a shorter run of sleep. Just not sure now where to start with laying groundwork for a routine, would love to know what you all think.

She's also smiling now, love her smiles more than anything Grin

kittykatsforever · 03/02/2014 07:45

Waiting for things update, so exciting

Red, what do you find difficult about bf in public, is it embarrassment or that you can't get her on properly etc without spending a bit of time getting her in place?
From two weeks I always gave kitten one bottle of expressed, I used to do it at night so dh could help but if you wanted to go out could that be an option and take a bottle with you? As babies get older they get more and more into a routine for milk so you will find it's not all the time and you can do it more fitting it in when you know she will want to.with dd1 non of my friends had done it and I was embarrassed etc but I used to time things so I knew she'd need one when we went then I'd do it in the car or if at a friends house I'd go and put her on if a different room then come back I used to use a muslin but discovered as I went on that wearing a vest top and cardi and just pulling it to the side was much more discreet then a big look I'm bf shield! I've had a few people come up to look at baby (friends) and go oh sorry I didn't even know you were feeding . Its hard to believe but true. Then if iits because it's new scared, try at a mummies class where a few women are probably doing it and there are no men? It really does I promise start to feel like second nature when you've done it a while but that's experience , I can promise you I've never had one negative experience from anyone although the first time I did it in front of close friends they were all abit omg are you feeding her shock but I think that's because it was nothing they'd seen before, it's not been invougue for so long but now is becoming more and more common, if you have any questions feel free to pm me and I'm sure the others on here will give you there personal experience aswell. If you really don't like it don't beat yourself up but if your finding it's getting easier and you want todo it I promise you it gets easier and easier in every way

kittykatsforever · 03/02/2014 08:06

Also red dd2 only has 3 milk feeds now a day, when she wakes, at around 3/4 and before bed at 7 and has since about 6 months so it's not like you have to keep doing a lot, one of those is a bottle aswell so for I hardly do it
Winkle remind me which you need for Thailand, I know you only need malaria for a certain area so I didn't have that, best thing to do is ask a HV I've seen plenty of babies there though so muSt be ok whatever they need

RedRobin1 · 03/02/2014 09:19

That's reassuring kitty I'll try the best cardi thing and have started her on expressed bottles in the day and feeding in the evening. She has 7 feeds a day but one or two of those last 3-4hours but she seems to be getting quicker. I like the idea of feeding in the car even. I guess it will take a lot of planning and organising before we leave the house to time her feeds. Probably being silly but I have just always been embarrasses to feed in public. We have a few latching issues due to fast letdown on one side and it always seems a battleground to get her to latch.

Alex lovely to hear you are getting some respite from the screaming cries. We have dd in a loose routine since about 2 weeks. I take her upstairs for her 7.30pm feed and put her to sleep in our Moses basket. We have tried the pick up put down method from baby whisperer from the start and she settles well after a bit of comfort cuddling. She gives us 3-4hr blocks of sleep at night. So feeds around 7.30,12, 4 and then wakes up at 8/9am.

Baby boy born at 1.38 am after a very fast delivery. We barely made it to the hospital.
I had been contracting reguarly throughout the day from 12pm and by 8pm the contractions were 3 minutes apart and pretty painful. We eventually got to the hospital at 10.30 pm only to be told that my cervix didn't appear to be labouring at all. This just didn't make any sense considering the amount of pain I was in and the frequency of contractions. I got back home feeling devastated wondering how I could manage that amount of pain for another day or two with contractions now running on top of each other. I think my mum and DP thought I'd turned into a complete wimp when they saw me buckle up on the floor. At 12.45 am my waters broke naturally (for the first time!) but they were bright red and made such a mess that my mum insisted I shower before leaving the house despite feeling very worried about a growing pressure... In the car I stayed silent not wanting to let DP know that my body was pushing the baby out as we were driving. We got to the desk and I let out a grunt which the original MW who first examined me heard and I think she realised I was close. I tried to explain that I was pushing but no one seemed in a rush until they looked and the MW pulled a strange face and shouted for help. Baby's head was visible and it was lovely to be told I could push. Two pushes and he was out. Smile I'd gone from 0 dilation to birth with no change in frequency or pain of contractions. He celebrated his fast birth by covering me and himself in poo. I went into shock for an hour so I couldn't hold baby until the shaking had stopped but DP was wonderful at looking after him. By 5.30 am we were allowed home and by 7.30 my older ds' s woke up to see their new baby brother. He is latching wonderfully although I don't think I'm making any milk yet.
No explanation for the bloody waters or the sudden birth but we are both ok so it doesn't matter. He is adorable. Smile I'm so in love with him.
Felix, born on his due date weighing 7lbs 6oz.
Oh, the hospital asked why I hadn't opted for a homebirth or a MLU so I told them I'd hoped for a pain free birth this time. Pretty silly now really considering I only had two paracetamol. Grin

RedRobin1 · 03/02/2014 12:08

Congratulations on your baby boy thingy love the name! Gosh how did you manage to stay quiet in the car! Glad you are both doing well. That sounds like very quick dilation!

Hope you get some rest and the milk will come in in a few days time. My midwife reassured me that they are pretty full from the placenta when born and can last till the colostrum and milk come in Smile

Wow thingy!! We'll done you, what a great story, so glad it was ok, can't believe you were sent home when it sounds like you were in very advanced labour! We'll done managing it on two paracetamol, sounds like he was no trouble at all and the name is lovely

Red- I was the same, when I was first pregnant with dd1 I wasn't sure I even wanted to try bf as I was abit eww but I did and love it, in a month or so you will see how much freedom it does give you to go out for a whole day without an army of bottles and things and in public the first time is the hardest and in front of friend the first big thing, after that one time it won't feel bad honestly, it's just a foreign thing when you've not done it before and no one will bat an eyelid, it's just your initial mental barrier and I do remember what it's like, defiantly try a children's group that maybe you don't know anyone at and have a go you will find others doing it and just watch and see how they do it

weechops · 03/02/2014 16:57

Massive congratulations thingy! What a labour story! X

fatasbutter · 03/02/2014 17:07

Wow thingy - great story! I'm not surprised you were in shock - I can just imagine their faces when you did your 'grunt'!! Sounds like the first mw couldn't find your cervix!! Shock
Lovely name too! Enjoy your newborn snuggles - hope to be joinin you in about a week WineThanks

fatasbutter · 03/02/2014 17:12

red I understand the feeding issues - I stuck with bf for 7 months and found first 4 weeks the hardest - kept leaking milk everywhere and couldn't get the hang of not letting everything flop out!! But even after a week I went with family to John Lewis and bf in the cafe bit around a corner - it was fine and gave me lots of confidence. I agree that when you get used to it it's sooo much easier than carrying craploads of bottles etc and having to warm them up, and it's comforting for them too and often settles them when they are upset just to have a little feed and then snooze when you're out and about. Sounds like you're getting a dab hand at expressing!
And re fast letdown - I once squirted a woman in the face with milk at the next table in a cafe!! It was totally embarrassing!! But it could shoot for miles!! Lol!! Grin

kittykatsforever · 03/02/2014 17:35

Omg fatas ShockShockShock that's some let down lol I am actually lol I'm not sure how id react to that, I've only ever shot dd1 in the face once but it was very funny
