You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

God news about gd jazz

dawn I just spat my tea all over myself reading how you would forlornly say 'moo'! That is so something I would say!

Well halfway through doing a New Year's Eve clean of the house, shouldn't take too long given the huge Christmas one I did however I now have to find homes for presents and the piles of chocolate (which I swear is all hubby has been living on, so I don't know how we still have so much left). Upside is bin men just been, downside, I have another 4 bin bags to put into the bins now they are empty...

sunflowered · 31/12/2013 12:13

Littleen we're in a more northern and western part of the uk than I'm used to (don't want to out myself after mil rant...) but in se eng it's light by 7.30. baby will b getting lots.of trips to its in laws through winter if the permadark helps it sleep! (not so much in summer though when it's light until 11...)

dh has deposited me in a cafe while he goes sales shoppinh. I'm slowing him down. The world has been turned upside down!

CubanoHabana · 31/12/2013 12:13

Mine doesn't update either littleen

re sister, difficult situation as how do you ask without sounding like you either expected it or judgey!

And happy new year to everyone, in case I don't have a chance. Eek in less than 12 hours we are having baby this year!

Littleen · 31/12/2013 12:29

Sunflowered That sounds like a good plan! I will have to condition baby to sleep in whatever light - we have light from about 11-15 in the darkest period, and in summer it doesn't get dark apart from sort of between 4-5 in the night - so we wouldn't get any sleep at all if he's not used to sleeping in light rooms :P

Cubano I won't be saying anything until I know for sure if she's serious! She won't think I am judging her though, as I was bridesmaid for my two lesbian friends this summer :) She knows one of them well as she's been my friend for more than 10 years! So it's not a big deal really, it's more curiosity ;D

sunflowered · 31/12/2013 12:34

I have no excuses - i just miss things when I skim through... Blush

Good news on the gd front jazz

littleen that's a tricky one - could just be a facebook thing but tricky to ask the question.

camwombat · 31/12/2013 13:32

We have a travel black out blind for ds which we used on his windows just in summer to help keep him asleep. We will be fitting child safe black out blinds (no cords) to his new room and new baby's room for all year round use. I just have to make a decision from the samples I have...

My parents used to see alot more of ds in person than my pils until we moved, but we Skype them weekly to make up for it (they live in the US). However they are coming over to help for the whole of Feb to help look after ds and the dog. They will do loads in the house too, so I can put my feet up with new one. DH has no paternity leave this time round.

Unplastered · 31/12/2013 21:18

Shrops I had to take sheets when I had DD - they just put that tissue roll stuff over the mattress otherwise. I also took my own blanket, I can't remember if those were provided or not.

EeyoreIsh · 31/12/2013 21:34

nasty blue tissue roll for my pfb Shock surely not!

LovesToBake · 31/12/2013 22:17

I at risk of falling off this thread again - I manage to just about stay on top of FB posts but seem to manage several days without getting a chance to read through all of your posts on here and then get massively behind. Just noticed we'll be finishing up this thread in the next day or two and then I would put good money on our next thread having lots of birth announcement news, eeek!

So I'm almost 33 weeks and I could have sworn this was supposed to be the time when baby movements settled down a bit but mine seems to be wrigglier than ever and she seems incredibly strong. Anyone else similar? It makes me even more convinced I'll have another early arrival on my hands but maybe that's just wishful thinking as I cannot begin to imagine another 7-9 weeks being pregnant. If she is born at the same gestation as DS, I've only got another 4.5 weeks to go. Just had a bath and shaved my legs which was a serious mission - the bump seems so much harder and higher than I remember from DS, I'm sure I never struggled this much with basic bending down tasks last time.

Anyway, as you can tell I'm having a rock and roll NYE, hope you're all celebrating in relaxed preggo style - I'm off to bed shortly!

marzipanned · 31/12/2013 22:38

I'm not doing very well at staying on top of this thread either!

But just wanted to say, Loves, mine seems particularly active at the moment too (35 weeks today) Which I am over the moon about as I am such an enormous worrier. I think she's transverse as I often get very strong pushing out on either side of bump - though also getting movements high up in ribs and low down at bikini line - goodness knows what she's up to in there.

RE sheets - our hospital has a page with 'what you will need to pack' on it - one thing I hadn't thought of was towels for Mum (presumably provided for baby) I'm not taking any sheets but will take a couple of blankets so can always lie one of those on top of the tissue roll if needed!

We've also got a blackout blind on the nursery window (installed by owners of house) - in summer it only gets dark for a couple of hours here.

Am waiting for DH to get out of the bath so we can watch a film together, will almost certainly fall asleep as soon as it goes on.

SO exciting that babies will be arriving on the next thread!

sunflowered · 01/01/2014 00:21

Littleen · 01/01/2014 02:21

Happy new year!

So I hinted to my little sister if there was "anything new" where she immediately replied that "that thing on facebook? oh we just wanted to see how people reacted" :P I am not 100% convinced!

DawnOfTheDee · 01/01/2014 03:25

Happy New Year all Smile

Here's to lots of happy, healthy mums and babies xxx

Happy New Year! Belatedly discovered this thread at 35 weeks. Can't sleep (again) and am hugely depressed at the thought that if this baby is like my last she won't make an appearance for another 7 weeks which is not fashionably late its just bloody inconsiderate

Anyone else awake?

bugsyburge · 01/01/2014 04:39

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!!

Grrr I would like to be asleep now though please!!!!!

Artisticme · 01/01/2014 05:44

Happy new year everyone!!! xx

LovesToBake · 01/01/2014 07:53

Happy new year and welcome LemonDrizzle. Know what you mean about it dragging on - I'm 33 weeks (almost) and given DS was born at 37+4, I've been counting down to that date this time around, but very aware that I could be in for a lot more waiting around!

Re. sheets - I certainly never took my own to hospital (and DS wasn't lying on blue tissue) and actually I never used the towels I had packed, they must have sorted me out with hospital towels for post birth and for my shower. Guess hospital policies/budgets differ though.

We're going to start popping babies out this month, eeek!

rueyrichardson · 01/01/2014 08:00

Happy new year everyone! I am sure there will be very few hangovers amongst us but hope that our various DPs are not too indisposed today! 2014 will be such a special year for us Grin. I wonder who will be first to kick it off with a baby?

Thingymajigs · 01/01/2014 08:07

Happy new year everyone! I had the best start to 2014 as I actually slept. 9 glorious hours of sleep. Grin I didn't even pee once. After months of 1 or 2 hours a night I feel amazing.
Next month we will all be having our babies and some much sooner than that. I'm so excited about this year. Hope you all had a fun NY's or happily slept through it all like me. Smile

Poppy954 · 01/01/2014 08:22

Happy new year. Look forward to our first babies coming this month.
I've looked on my hospital website and it doesn't mention bringing sheets. I think it's appalling that some do. But it does say no electricals (hairdryers, phone chargers). I'll definitely have to come out in 6 hours then!

laura0007 · 01/01/2014 08:37

Happy new year pregos! I fell asleep about 9.30 and woke up about 2am for the loo. So I slept through the new year, oh well I'm allowed I'm pregnant right?
Welcome lemon....I now really really want lemon drizzle cake for breakfast damn you!! Wink

EeyoreIsh · 01/01/2014 08:49

Happy 2014 everyone! This is the year we have our babies Shock Smile

thingy Yay for the sleep, lucky you!

Thisisfreakingmeout · 01/01/2014 08:58

Morning ladies. Happy 2014.

Any resolutions?

I aim to:
Stop swearing so baby doesn't have potty mouth (swear jar will provide hospital car park change).
Give myself a break every once in a while in this year of upheaval and chaos.
Cherish the important people in my life.
