You other mothers can't deny,
When a girl walks in with an ever expanding waist
And a round thing in your face
You....'d better give her some cake....

etc, etc,

New thread! Enjoy!

tinypolkadot · 17/12/2013 18:21

julietee did you get the whooping cough jab? I know that had a tetanus top up combined in it... at least I think that's what the nurse said!

marzipanned · 17/12/2013 18:58

Argh jazz got 1000 words done...was hoping it would be more like 3000...but it's a start! Glad to hear that your advent calendar chocs are not off limits.

Also got my tax return for last FY in and the last of the Christmas cards sent, so feeling semi accomplished. Though not really. As it sounds good but I know full well how much time I spent on MN Blush

LovesToBake · 17/12/2013 19:27

Tinypolkadot I was thinking the same - I wasn't concentrating fully when I had my whooping cough jab (I tend to just go into 'la la la' mode in my head when useful information comes my way like that, or someone giving me directions) but I think it had tetanus and a few other things combined with it...

Marzi 1000 words sounds really good to me. What's your dissertation about and what's your deadline?

Jazz - must be seriously hard to watch your DH chomping the mince pies while you're measuring out your rice but I rather like the sound of your salmon, veg and rice supper. I had a big pizza at lunchtime (Pizza Express near work with some friends) so as a result am not at all hungry tonight so might just have some fruit. Also got a horrible cold now so all I want to do is drink a bucket of hot Ribena. That's an acceptable tea right? Maybe with a clementine for dessert?

Well that's my penultimate office day done. Working from home (aka decorating my Christmas cake) tomorrow and the final day showing willing in the office on Thursday. Cannot bloody wait!

Julietee · 17/12/2013 19:45

Jazz Thanks :)
Tiny Nope, nobody's even mentioned it to me yet!

lyndsey90 · 17/12/2013 20:06

Can we class ourselves heavily pregnant at 31 n half weeks.. I feel hooge, I have 7 more working weeks left till I go on Mat leave and I don't know how I'm going to do it !!!
Ahhhhhh

laura0007 · 17/12/2013 20:33

Definitely Lyndsey! I'm 33 weeks today and feel like a baby elephant now.

Has anyone else's baby got weapons? He feels like he's stabbing me in the cervix with a knife. What the hell is that all about? It actually made me stop and shout earlier it hurt that much!

EeyoreIsh · 17/12/2013 21:26

For sure lyndsey, I'm certainly verging on the heavily pregnant at 33 weeks with a small bump.

So I finished work Smile and I got through the speeches without crying, which I'm chuffed about. They kindly gave me some john lewis vouchers to spend on me, which is lovely. I also had lunch with a friend I haven't seen for ages, and a drink (proper mulled wine Grin Wine ) with two other friends. So it's been an all round feel good day.

notoneforselfies · 17/12/2013 23:02

Laura007 - yeah I've been getting that too so looked into it: It's not actual baby armed with a knitting needle trying to mine it's way out the cervix (as it feels) but is actually cervical effacement (ie thinning). It does seem early but apparently perfectly normal to start happening now! (It can happen as early as 20 weeks but obviously that's pretty rare) I'm taking it as a painful positive sign that hints are all progressing correctly in the right direction!

Littleen · 17/12/2013 23:15

Julietee I cut myself on everything and anything - never occured to me it could give an infection or anything, I'm sure you'll be fine :) Obviously keep an eye on it that it doesn't have pus and stuff and I'm sure it's all good!

marzi 1000 words is great :D You'll get there in the end :)

My midwife says I need to do another GTT but I just cannot face it. Have felt very nauseaus the last few days so the nurses sent me home today, as I could barely stomach it last time. I have a phobia of throwing up O.o and I just can't seem to face it even though I know I should! Won't have time now until after Christmas, so my midwife will tell me off on Thursday! I guess I'll try again after christmas. To be honest I can't physically afford to change my diet, so I wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway! Bread, pasta and potatoes is pretty much all we can budget for now!

Naomilouise1992 · 18/12/2013 01:38

Thingymajigs · 18/12/2013 02:05

Hi naomilouise. I'm due on the 4th and I'm also having major sleep problems, obviously! Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl? We have a Feb stats thread you can add your due date and other details to.
Right, I'll try to sleep again. It can't be as difficult as my body is making it out to be.

Naomilouise1992 · 18/12/2013 03:11

Oh it's oso annoying I'm wide awake!!!! Aww that's good what are you having??? We are keeping it a surprise :) ooh I'll have a look in there xxxx

Naomilouise1992 · 18/12/2013 03:11

Hope you get to sleep xxxx

sunflowered · 18/12/2013 04:56

Hi naomilouise Smile

I'm in the wide awake club as well tonight. Forgot to take my magic heartburn pill yesterday so was woken up at 1 by a week's worth of acid leaping around my body. Woke up choking Sad dh was a little scared.

Might give up on sleeping and wrap some Christmas presents. Would go to work early so I can come home early to sleep on the sofa but the office doesn't open until 7.30 and I don't think the petrol station's open much earlier. The world just isn't designed for sleepless preggos!

EeyoreIsh · 18/12/2013 05:05

Morning naomilouise Smile

Another pregnant insomniac here! sleep and my body just don't go together anymore, despite the fact I'm shattered.

HarlemWobble · 18/12/2013 07:53

Welcome Naomi

I hope the insomniacs among us managed to get some sleep. I managed 7 hours pretty much uninterrupted with no leg cramps (yay!) and feel much better for it.

Day 2 post WC jab for me and my arm feels as though it's ready to drop off. Took me a good 5 mins to get my bra on this morning. Any idea how long I can expect this wonderful side effect to last?

Eyeore your last day sounds lovely. Enjoy mat leave and don't give work a second thought!

Lyndsey yep feeling huge here at 31+1 and have noticed I'm definitely moving a lot slower and making attractive grunting noises every time I sit down or stand up!

Yesterday's commute from hell took a grand total of 2h45m and involved 3 trains, 2 buses and 2 tube changes. I'm getting the VPN fixed on my laptop today as my boss has insisted that if it happens again I can just WFH!

3 days left in the office until my 12 Christmas break!

laura0007 · 18/12/2013 07:57

Ooh that's interesting notone!
Morning naomilouise, it was the first night in god knows how long I slept from 11-7 without waking up once! Was bursting for a pee though when I did wake up.
Can't believe its bump day again already Grin it's going so fast now!

jazzcat28 · 18/12/2013 07:59

Welcome naomilouise!

I am still battling a horrid cold. Has progressed to random coughing fits and blocked nose. Kept me awake most of the night. I feel awful.

Worst thing is I had a text from my senior manager at work along the lines of 'if you're ill then stay at home but I'm worried the team are without their leader so it'd be great if you could make it in' what a cheek! I am not well and my two (yes two) mat leave cover people are both in the office so surely they can cope? I replied saying I felt rough and won't be in today but that perhaps this could be A good test run for E and L (cover). Now it's got me thinking that if he is worried that I've taken 2 days sick then his grand plan for mat leave cover won't work. Only 15 working days left after today so they need to get used to it!

marzi 1000 words is about what I could write in one day - well done! When's your deadline?

HarlemWobble · 18/12/2013 08:03

Re WC jab, mine was called Repevax and I've just read the leaflet given to me by the nurse which came from the WC jab box and it says it contains protection against diphtheria, tetanus, WC, and polio.

Thisisfreakingmeout · 18/12/2013 08:43

Hey Harlem and all WC jabbers. Had mine last night and I think the combined one is the only one available on NHS.

Apparently the reason the arm goes nuts is in particular if you have had booster for any if those other jabs within the last 2.5 years. Suppose because your body is already immune it goes to town on those parts of the jab.

And I had all 3 fairly recently Xmas Hmm

DawnOfTheDee · 18/12/2013 09:38

lynsey I went to a Suede gig when i was about 25 weeks ish. We asked to swap our standing tickets for sitting ones. Girl on the box office "Hi - I've got a very heavily pregnant woman here who wants to swap......" Blush

Naomi Welcome :)

Wish I'd come on here last night....didn't get much sleep at all. Between needing numerous wees, hip pain and this new stinking cold I've got there was pretty much zero chance of much kip.

I'm blaming DD1 for this cold....she was v poorly on sunday but she bounces back within 24hours, she was right as rain on monday. Meanwhile I'll feel like death for about 10 days. Urgh.

On the plus side DD1 is at childminders wed/thurs/fri this week so i should get some rest. It's also my work's christmas lunch today...I wouldn't go as I feel so bunged up but we're going to this lush Mexican restaurant so I'm hoping the spices will de-bung me a bit!

EeyoreIsh · 18/12/2013 10:12

Well I managed to get extra sleep after 7 (Yay to no work) but I feel like shit today. I think it's because I probably ate something I'm allergic to yesterday, which isn't great as I'm eating out again tonight.

I'm off for my whopping cough jab soon as well. I wouldn't have it if it wasn't for the protection it gives the baby.
