hey all! have been on the move for a while so haven't posted but have been keeping abreast of your news! (find my tablet such a faff to write anything on but great to read from... so had to find a moment with my computer booted up that I wasn't meant to be working!).

Up in Kenya for work and getting to catch up with my friends here which is lovely. Has ended up being great timing as DH has been pulled away to the Philippines to respond to an earthquake over there and will be away until early Dec so at least I'm staying with good friends and am not home alone Smile

Great to hear good scan news and that lots of you seem to be getting over the nausea - yeah! Good luck for your scan today Spirael!

Excited to hear peoples sling experiences... am v.keen to 'babywear' and have been looking at the Beco Baby Carrier (which I've read has all the right points for baby - froggy leg position and facing intowards you)... I reckon DH will be more likely to carry the bean in a structured carrier than a tied sling. Has anyone used one of these? recommendations (and experiences of DP's) would be great!

have a good evening all!

Hendricks · 31/10/2013 16:51

I had a Connecta as I didn't trust myself with the knots and wrapping techniques, though I didn't use it that much with #1 and I don't think #2 went in it at all. I still have it though - just in case! DH was happy to use it too.

Hendricks · 31/10/2013 16:52

Glad to hear your scan went well JuniorMint.

hamncheese · 31/10/2013 18:08

Congrats on the scan junior :)

I have a friend with a beco she rates it. I know ergos, manducas and rose and rebellions are soft structured carriers all well thought off for those not liking wrapping

Just been out round the houses with DS for Halloween. He was a bear :)

Spirael · 31/10/2013 18:28

Glad to hear your scan went well, JuniorMint. :)

Everything was fine for me too, one little wiggler in there! A nice strong heartbeat at 171 and my dates were shifted one day backwards. Which technically puts me at 1st June, but I think I'll wait and see what the NHS scan says next week and then take an average!

Got an anterior placenta again, it seems. Ah well! PITA initially as I probably won't feel any kicks until 20+ weeks again, but a blessing towards the end as it means kicks are more muffled and I can get more sleep. Wink

Going to take DD out Trick or Treating shortly. She's dressed as a cat, specifically our cat. Hmm Black and white isn't the usual halloween cat colour, but nevermind!

bushprincess · 31/10/2013 18:30

Contracts on the scan mint sorry didn't spot it when i posted, sounds like a fab day!
Hope you got to enjoy some of the Halloween goodies ham!

bushprincess · 31/10/2013 18:33

Contracts spirael too! Exciting day!

bushprincess · 31/10/2013 18:42

Grrr. This is why i don't use this silly tablet to post. Obviously meant to say congrats!,

SarahJinx · 31/10/2013 19:04

Evening all.

Nuchal results in the post today, 1 in 392, officially low risk! Hooray! Think with DS1 it was one in 1600 but I'm ancient now so sort of expected it. It's more than low enough for us!

I'm wanting a wrap too this time, never used on with DS but am curious and also a total ignoramus about them, where to go to get educated, try some out?

Xavielli · 31/10/2013 19:07

Fab scan news ladies :)

We've had lots of little witches and skeletons round for sweets, they've all been very polite. My big two went out with my friend and loved it.

JuniorMint · 31/10/2013 19:11

Great scan news everyone! I have been enjoying telling lots of friends and family our news Smile

CokeFan · 31/10/2013 19:15

Hi All - glad to hear scans are all going so well. I got my nuchal results today too - 1 in 5572 so I'm low risk.

We're wondering whether to have a 4D scan. We did with DD but then I won I competition and got some money off. We kind of want to do the same for each child but we're not sure whether it was worth having really. We've only looked at the dvd once. To be fair it does look a lot like her. More like she looked when she was a bit older, rather than as a newborn.

We've had loads of trick or treaters round too. The blood/ink spattered costume seems to be favoured this year. We're popular because I've put some party bag treats in the bowl as well as sweets (just leftovers from DD's birthday party last month).

hamncheese · 31/10/2013 19:21

spirael anterior here too... As with DS too, but I did feel movements it just took a LONG time before DH could and he was a bit miffed!! I'd be like WOW A BIG ONE and he was all What? When wahhhhh!

Tell me people, do your guisers no longer tell jokes or rhymes etc just arrive wanting sweets? I'm a bit miffed to be sure! DS couldn't tell jokes but showed off his walking skills as his turn this year :) its been about eight years since I lived somewhere that kids come round so its all change.

Well, this is a big deal for me, but I am currently not in bed, and I'm not dying to go to bed either which makes me feel very happy and like a normal adult human for the first time in months yaaaaay!

Squiffie · 31/10/2013 19:24

Fab to see lots of other babywearers! I've got a Manduca and a woven wrap. Def going to need a stretchy for my new squish though! I'm not good at making so looking at Victoria sling lady!

moominleigh94 · 31/10/2013 21:16

I've got pink spotting. Not an awful lot, not in my underwear but on a tissue - started as a tiny bit, now a bit more. It's pink but looks like it might be getting darker. I've got no cramps and I'm 14 weeks but I'm panicking, I don't know if I have an EPU anywhere near me plus it won't be open, can't go to the doctors tomorrow, I'm so scared.

OP posts:
LongTailedTit · 31/10/2013 21:22

Moomin try not to freak out, it's more than likely nothing, so best not to scare yourself unnecessarily! Have you done anything vaguely strenuous today, any lifting, or tripped over? My pink spotting always followed a small 'stressor' like that.
Fingers crossed for you, get your feet up and an early night if you can. Remember not to sit straight up from lying down - roll on your side first to avoid straining yourself. Xx

moominleigh94 · 31/10/2013 21:27

Yeah I joined in with some of the dancing today at rehearsals, not for very long though, wouldn't have thought it would be long enough to cause that kind of thing.

I'm trying not to panic but I'm so scared, I thought everything was usually fine once you've seen the scan

OP posts:
LongTailedTit · 31/10/2013 21:49

It could be that - after I had my spotting/bleeding the sonographer did say to literally do nothing strenuous, not even carrying shopping.

Some women have spotting throughout their pregnancy, others have full on bleeding, still more have random spotting a couple of times then never again - it's all quite weird frankly!

Just rest up, and have your slave DP bring you everything while you chill out. Brew and Cake preferably... :)

SarahJinx · 31/10/2013 21:58

Moomin its probably fine, but at 14 weeks you're too far gone for epu. If it does get heavier the advice is straight to A&E , don't bother with out of hours etc just get self there.

That was the advice I was given but second and third the others, feet up and take it easy.

LongTailedTit · 31/10/2013 22:09

Agree with SarahJinx, I've been told that if any issues arise before 20 weeks I should go straight to A&E (or call GP/midwife if not v urgent), and if after 20wks go straight to Labour Ward at the hospital.

See how you go, but it's better to have a wasted trip to A&E and know you're ok than to be worried out of your mind and stressed.

loopylou52 · 31/10/2013 22:49

Big hugs moomin, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but definitely get your feet up and take it easy. Thanks

Congrats on today's good scan news. Mine tomorrow!

LongTailedTit · 31/10/2013 23:27

Ok, in the theory that there is no such thing as TMI on MN, I am going to complain to you lot.

I have a horrid congested cold. I just had a sneezing fit. On the FIFTH fecking elephantine sneeze my pelvic floor gave out and I fecking leaked. Then I got a fecking nosebleed for five minutes.
I'd forgotten about pregnancy nosebleeds, this had better not be the start of them again.

Am So Not Impressed. Angry [and why don't we have a 'tired' emoticon huh?]

Xavielli · 01/11/2013 03:15

My nosebleeds started a couple of weeks ago too LTT I was having a good old cry at something ridiculous on the telly so was wet faced anyway when DD1 looked at me and screeched. Poor peach! I hope they aren't too frequent for either of us.

moomin try not to worry and as others have said make sure you take it easy, you've had a lot of stress just recently.

dobedobedo · 01/11/2013 03:47

moomin listen to the others, it does sound like you've over did it a bit. No more dancing and take it easy! You'll be fine.
Why am I awake on mn?! I have work in 4 hours. I just had a nightmare about ds. He got arrested and turned into a right little delinquent and I was beside myself! LOL.
I need to sleep again....

thistlelicker · 01/11/2013 04:09

Wide awake :-(
