Thanks for the birth story shire. I think it's so useful seeing other peoples stories so you can see just how different everyone's births are.

Shire (and everyone else) how are you recovering from the episiotomy? Yesterday morning I was in a huge amount of pain but I've changed a few things and this morning the pain is better.

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 06:50

How can one little person create so much poo. Her poo resembles mint sauce all green and gross Confused

She's also a really noisy sleeper, must take after her walrus sounding snoring father Smile

I'm ok thanks Roofio, sore and keep trumping from the c section but more mobile now. I just wish I could do more I feel a bit useless.

I also don't feel very confident and constantly wonder if I'm actually doing anything right. I can settle her like midwives can, they wrap her up easily, dress her quickly whereas I'm all fingers and thumbs and I'm frightend of hurting her or doubt something the wrong way! I couldn't even bottle feed very well.

I hope this eases as I feel pretty incompetent as a mum.

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 06:56

My goodness I'm 34 yrs old and I'm scared and nervous of a 2 day old baby! Sounds totally ridiculous Grin

thethreeblondies · 17/10/2013 07:35

Perfectly normal flyer I remember not wanting to leave the hospital with DD1! You will both be learning for a bit so just cut yourself some slack and try and go with the flow, had moments with DD2 where I felt overwhelmed and am expecting it this time too, they are all so different and like/want different things Smile

MrsHoratioNelson · 17/10/2013 08:09

You are still learning flyer and babies is their job :). Would you expect them to be able to do cabin door checks like you can? Apologies if that terminology is all wrong!! Plus, you're no doubt in pain from the section.

C is 4 days old and i am already so much more confident and "rough" with him than i was in the beginning and better than his daddy because I'm here more. You'll get there and you'll be fab xx

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 08:17

Thanks MrsH are you still in hospital?
How is C feeding? I hope he gets the hang of it.

You are right I guess, and cabin door checks is the correct terminology (very impressed at your knowledge)

I've never been around lots of young babies I guess . Friends have then but I have never done anything for them other than hold them. So it's just new territory and a learning curve .

Do all your babies have electronic tags on them? A has one round her ankle, she's 2 days old and is already electronically tagged a true scouser I guess GrinGrin

MrsHoratioNelson · 17/10/2013 08:34

Grin at A being a scally! Just plastic tags here.

sorry, my post was really bossy, but sounds like you took it the way i intended :)

still here (expressing as i type) but going home today. A new thing to worry about - left boob nowhere near as productive as right boob :(. Also looking forward to when I've got dh on hand because then i can offer the boob before expressing. At the moment i daren't because if i wake C up enough and he wont take it, he screams while i express and i cant do anything.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 17/10/2013 08:50

Morning all. Can any of you tell me if you think I'm being paranoid that my waters have gone....... Went to bed wearing a pad last night, up at 5 for the loo and it was soaked through. Changed it and back to bed until 6.30 when it was soaked again. Got up to change and watery stuff trickled down legs, had to grab a towel and sit on it until it had stopped. Is this too much to just be discharge? I think it is but don't want to spend hours at the hospital again just to be told it's perfectly normal. Just seems like a lot to me.

roofio87 · 17/10/2013 08:53

flyer yes loved H's asbo tag at 1 day old!!
shooting that does sound like it could be waters. I would give them a call to make sure!!

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 08:54

It wasn't bossy MrsH. I understand what you were saying, and thanks again.

Yes who'd have thought these dh's and dp's would eventually come in
So handy Grin. I can't wait for dp to come today as he is quite confident with her and actually very good and hands on, he'd changed all her nappies, clothes and washed her down I hadn't done any until early hours of this morning Shock terrible mother delegating my responsibilities Grin

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 08:57

Shooting I have no idea given a c section, however it sounds way too much just to be discharge. Fx this is it for you.

Sparkeleigh · 17/10/2013 09:03

Hi,
I've missed a full thread and I can't believe how full this one is already. Massive congratulations on all the new arrivals! [cuppa]FlowersWine

Flyer, glad you had good news on the infection front and youve been reunited with A! They electronically tag babies in my hospital too for safety.

I've been swamped with all the work being done to my house, but it's all finished now and we have hot water and heat, bliss! Thank goodness our neighbors are nice and didn't object to all the vans, noise and mess. im Luckily baby didn't arrive in the middle of it all and I'm SC at 39+6...

AnythingNotEverything · 17/10/2013 09:03

Shooting - that definitely sounds like your waters. Were they clear? Call the hospital for advice and save the pads. Apparently they like to do a sniff test.

Shirehobbit · 17/10/2013 09:09

Sounds like waters to me, shooting Grin

Flyer - love the scally comment Grin and totally recognise the wakefuness/worry/paranoia/insecurity feelings. I was just saying to DH that at 10 days old, this little man is already boss of this household.

Hope you're ok, Roxvox x

GTbaby · 17/10/2013 09:14

Seriously flyer. Totally normal. I had never fed a baby (bottle) burped changed a nappy. Nothing ! Before DS1. I was constantly looking over checking he was breathing. Being so über careful and slow with changing etc.
I'm still like this with ds2. I just have more confidence that I'm doing it right.

Right off to speed eat breakfast Wink

Shootingstarsandcomets · 17/10/2013 10:25

Thanks all, just waiting to be seen. Hope it is waters and not another false alarm. I've only had the odd trickle since which is making me question myself but better to be seen than not I suppose. I think they give you 24 hrs here to go into labour once your waters have ruptured so hopefully I'll have a baby in 24 hours!

Natalieand · 17/10/2013 10:31

I've read up to date now but no way I can remember who said what

Congrats on any births I've missed Flowers xx

Sorry to those of u having feeding problems, same happening here too and I'm ff, he took his first to 30ml bottles perfectly in the few hours after birth and since 5-6pm last night I've only managed to get 40ml into him and that's only been in the last hour so now I'm panicking about that midwife is coming later this afternoon so I'll see what she suggests x

The induction wasn't too bad after all,
Monday morn they inserted a 24 hour pessary, and when checked 27 hours later I was 1cm (closed when I originally arrived) and the doctor wanted to use another 24 hour pessary but I insisted on having two lots of the 6 hour gel which is when he said if if doesn't work u will have to go home and wait for it to happen naturally anyway first gel went in Tuesday 2pm and gave me on off contractions then when the next gel was due (at 8pm) they said they was too busy and it would have to wait until Wednesday morning so I kicked up about that and then at midnight the on call doctor came down and done a sweep and inserted gel number two, and the contractions started straight away very painfull 2-3 mins apart for 6 hours then I had a bath which calmed them down and diamorphine so I could get some rest then at 9am a doctor came and woke me up to tell me I was going up to labour ward to have my waters broken so they took me there about 9.30 broke my waters and said I was 4-5cm and I just had gas+air from there on in, so I went from 4cm to holding him in 4 hours and 2 minutes, he was born back to back as expected and I have a graze and small tear neither required any treatment tho so I had a shower at the hospital and they said I could either stay or go so I chose to go home
I'm so glad I just done it with gas and air as last time I had an epidural and was determined to do it without this time so before the pain got too bad I told the midwife and dh and mum not to let me have one no matter how much I begged I begged a lot lol

Anyway so baby Harrison Lloyd (surname) weighed 8lb 3.5 oz @ 40+2 (his due date by period scan due date says 14/10)

P.s I can't believe how much dark hair he has, dd was born with very little hair and it was blonde!

Dd isn't very impressed with his arrival she starts crying when he does and doesn't want to go near him she says he's gunna cry at her and is a bit freaked out by his belly button. I was going to keep her home from pre school today but decided to send her as thought a few hours without him might do her good to just be herself

Anyway sorry for the self indulgent post x

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 10:57

Congratulations Natalie. A great little birth story. Good for you being determined and doing it on G&A. Love the name too. I can't believe you were home so quick.

Thanks for the reassurances folks, I've just had a rest for an hour and a half I feel like a new woman Grin Alex has to go over to special baby unit every 8hrs for her iv anti biotics to be administered. DP on his way shortly, his key client has emailed yesterday with work.... And he really can't turn work away especially from his main client, it would be turning away £4000, and even I wouldn't want that. So he is coming but will have to do some work from my bedside....It may mean I get that diamond eternity ring though, every cloud and all.

Clapham how are you today? Report to the October bus conductor please. Thanks

Orange hope you are swil or lit.

Flyer747 · 17/10/2013 11:00

Also untitled I hope you are lit or even better have baby untitled by your side.

Can't remember who else maybe swil or ip, if there is anyone else good luck Thanks

GT my breakfast was express style. My cornflakes were soggy and my tea was stone cold. That's motherhood I guess. Grin

ThanksBrew For those sc or SFW

chickieno1 · 17/10/2013 11:02

Congrats and well done on baby Harrison nat. In the end everything worked out and you did so well!! Hope he takes bottle for you this morning. Is he a sleepy baby? We seem to have a few on this thread! Dd will come around soon. Xx

Good luck shooting

Great building work all done spark now your baby can arrive!

Crap night here. On my own, typical ds wakes up at half four to wee. Then dd does a poo so have to change her nappy with ds getting upset as she's crying. Then ds goes back into his own bed but wants me to sit next to him holding his hand until falls asleep. All while bf dd. thank goodness he's asleep now, hopefully until at least 8 am. Feel like crap mum. And dd s bum is red :(. This never happened with ds. I'm using cotton wool and chamomile tea, olive oil and sudocreme on red bits. Anyone with any other suggestion? Loads of nappy free time too. Feel like as second time round shouldn't have this problem :(. Sorry for the whine

MrsHoratioNelson · 17/10/2013 11:04

Well done Nat love the name.

Sorry to hear you're also having trouble with feeding, it just shows that there's no "easy" way, these babies give us lots of worry about straight away!

I'm sure your DD will settle down quickly and the pair of them will be ganging up on you before too long :). She's not quite 3 is she? That's still so little really, its bound to feel a bit confusing for her.

MrsHoratioNelson · 17/10/2013 11:09

Chickie you're doing brilliantly. Most of us are still struggling with one DC!

Flyer my toast was coldish and chewy and shoveled in while in the milking parlour. Can DH bring you cake or something to make up for it? DH has been bringing me M&S pastries for breakfast and a flask of proper decaf coffee because I'm a terrible coffee snob Blush

takingachance · 17/10/2013 11:10

Congratulations Nat ! Lovely names Smile

Thanks funkky you were right, she did a poo late last night and it was (TMI!) definitely a transition from meconium to bf poo!! Anyway, just relieved she did one!

Next hurdle is we have to go to the paediatrician as there was a query about her hip - if still a problem we have to get referred and that means a long old trip to the mainland Hmm

Also, she has her hearing test, then heel prick on Saturday. It's all go!!

My milk came in and I think Lexi is struggling to latch with the size of my boobs! Takes a bit longer to latch her than at the start. Can't remember how long it takes for my boobs to start regulating themselves again. I think the initial flow is very fast as well because I can hear her gulping away at the start!

ImpOfDarkness · 17/10/2013 11:22

Lovely waking up to more baby news every day!

Can i just boast that at the grand old age of 39 and at 39 +5 I've still got it? I was practically the last one standing on the dance floor last night Grin

Shootingstarsandcomets · 17/10/2013 11:39

Good for you imp!
Baby is happy on its ctg but my waters have gone so I can go for now, but have to come in again for a ctg at 4pm and if not in labour by tomorrow am I have to come in again and I think they'll do a section.
How can I get myself into labour? I don't want a section....
