Mac2014 · 14/10/2013 18:38

Thanks for the links for space - I've felt like I should do something too.

I also look like a snake who's just had his dinner.

Off to first NCT tonight. Fingers crossed their normal!

sarahleanne · 14/10/2013 18:59

I'm also very big at 27 weeks but then again I knew I would be. I have been worrying the last few days about lack of movement but then I remembered a few of you saying how bump had got quieter around the 26 week mark?? Baby is still moving but has definitely slowed down and gives one off jabs now rather than full on squirmy movements. I probably worried about exactly the same things with ds and dd and I just don't remember.

Naturegirl82 · 14/10/2013 19:14

Thanks for those links.

Strangely I've been feeling smaller the past few days. Bubs still moving loads so not worried much. Got my rescan next week.

Did someone say they had been to a la leche league meeting? I can't get to one until December and just wondering if it was useful. The meeting is quite a way from my house which is putting me off a bit.

Sultanajo · 14/10/2013 20:20

mac good luck at NCT tonight! Hope your bunch are as nice as mine!,Grin

sarah my movements went AWOL around 26 weeks and at 29 +3 I have noticed another change in pattern over the last few days and also been feeling different types of movements - todays variety have been what I can only imagine is a foot pushing up by a rib which was really painful and something punching my bladder giving me sharp tingles in my urethra which is bizarre! I have been worrying daily about lack of movements and then eventually will feel something! Little monkey! Grin

Bluecarrot · 14/10/2013 22:12

Nature girl - it was me at la leche league. Im not sure if the format is the same at them all but ours is a slightly hectic group with lots of nipples on show :/ everyone chatted for a bit and browsed the lending library selection, then the leader gave a talk about what difficulties new mums can face, then the floor was opened up for chat and we talked about emotions you might feel. If I had t read any books on feeding it would have been v helpful. But te lending library was excellent, and good to chat to a few other people I probably wouldn't have met otherwise and some who use slings/cloth nappies etc too. I plan to attend monthly til after I'm settled with breastfeeding. Not sure after that.

I can't remember if its your first but if I could go back in time to when I had dd1, I'd have made sure I had contact with a bf councillor before birth as midwifes were too busy and I felt pushed into ff "for the health of my baby" (who it turns out probably would have been fine, I just didn't have the knowledge or self-empowerment to speak up then.

If you can't make the meeting, (or even if you can) I highly highly recommend Breastfeeding made simple by Kathleen Kendall-Tackett. Its the third bookI've read (from the library) and the first I want to actually buy. Though I've heard great things about Sheila kitzinger (sp?) too.

MrsAVB · 15/10/2013 08:42

enjoying there is a recipe for microwave fudge on MN, have been meaning to try it... All in the name of research of course!
sultana I've definitely been more tired this last week or so... Not as bad as the first trimester, but am guessing its downhill from now on.
On a similar note to LLL, what's the etiquette for sling libraries and nappy cafe type places? Are they going to think I'm weird going without a baby? And, I really want to do washable nappies, but would I be making an unrealistic rod for my back when we don't have any outside drying space and barely enough inside for DH and I?
X

TobyLerone · 15/10/2013 08:56

SPD-suffering ladies: does this sound like it might be related?

I already have the lovely 'kicked right in the fanny' pain in my pelvis, basically on the bit of bone parallel to the floor, if that makes sense. Like the bone that actual ladyparts are on, rather than the front.

But since yesterday, I've had like a burning pain right at the very top of my leg, towards the front, right at the point where it joins my body. It's definitely not a bone-type pain. It almost feels like it's the skin which hurts, although maybe slightly deeper. No rash or anything so not skin.

I'm not sure I've explained that very well at all! I'm seeing the mw on Thursday, so I can ask her then.

TobyLerone · 15/10/2013 08:59

How did your class go, Mac?

I wish we even had anything like a sling/nappy library, MrsA, so I could advise. But we don't :(

extracrunchy · 15/10/2013 09:19

Toby is it worse when you open your legs or walk, climb out of bed etc? If it's more a slow burn it's prob ligaments or pelvic pressure from the weight of the baby. If it tingles a bit it might be a trapped nerve, especially if it goes down your leg sometimes (sciatica). SPD is more a persistent deep ache accompanied by really sharp pain when you move a certain I way.
Hope it feels better soon!

TobyLerone · 15/10/2013 09:25

No, not really worse at any time. Unlike the 'kicked in the fanny' pain I also have :o

I've had SPD before, but it was almost 13 years ago and I wasn't sure of the different ways it can manifest itself. It's definitely not sciatica.

Thanks, extra :)

MrsVDB · 15/10/2013 10:47

toby sorry to be the bearer of bad news but could it be a stretch mark coming? When I put on weight before I got them there and they were pretty painful to start (although you can't even see them now)

So work have decided to start looking for my replacement and not only are they hiring someone the band above me and much more experienced I just heard them tell someone it's a year secondment. Yes I probably want a year off but I haven't said that as no ones asked! Also said not starting until January and I leave in dec so I guess no handover!

On the plus side they ordered me an adjustable lumbar support for my back ache and its actually really good :)

AnotherStitchInTime · 15/10/2013 11:03

I had that Toby with my last pregnancy, the burning pain was round ligament stretching and the kicked in the fanny pain can be too, unless you are actually being kicked in the cervix by the baby which bloody hurts. If it is SPD related then follow this advice on getting about and someone posted here about doing some clicky thing with your pelvis, that might help.

Feeling big and tired here and only 25 weeks, I just want to hibernate under a duvet for the next few months.

enjoyingscience · 15/10/2013 11:28

Toby it might related to having a wonky pelvis. Try doing a lot of pelvic tilts (on all fours, arching your back upwards and tucking your tailbone in, then returning to neutral), and keeping your legs together as much as possible for a day or two and see if it helps?

Microwave fudge? That's my job for tonight then :)

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 15/10/2013 11:45

Ouch, ladies!

I don't (yet?) have pelvic pain, but the kicking in the cervix thing is bloody ouchy. My main pain is still my feet. The orthotics are helping, but I get shooting pains up from my heels. Tried to book a GPs appt, but they are singularly unhelpful at the surgery, and since I'd finally managed, after 20 mins of trying, to get a whooping cough & flu jab appt, I gave up at that point. Will try again at new docs.

I am starting to feel properly big now - it's weird how it's crept up on me suddenly! I still have a bit where I go 'in' around my waist, and belly button is shallow but not popped, so with no clothes on I look less pregnant than clothed Grin.

space how are you? Just wanted to say, still thinking of you. Please say if there's anything I can do.

Sultanajo · 15/10/2013 12:57

mrsa yep - am resigned to the fact that I am gonna be knackered from now on! Soooo glad we ordered the big nursery stuff already as have no energy or enthusiasm now to go searching for stuff....Hmm

Toby that sounds similar to something I have been having the last few days on and off on my upper abdomen under my boob. A burning type sensation that feels likes its something skin related but no mark....random!

Kicked in the fanny feeling is interesting! Shock

humpty I am the same as u - look more preggers clothed - belly button shallow but not popped yet. Thought I was avoiding stretch marks but a few have appeared....Sad

DH woke me up last night (from the only bit of sleep I got) by persistently feeling my ass. "He cant seriously be horny at this time can he?" I thought to myself. It turned out he had pushed something in his sleep and was concerned it was bump, so he was trying to work out if it had been my ass! Turned out it had been my body pillow! Grin

Frizz1986 · 15/10/2013 13:00

Thanks for all those links for space ladies.
I really feel like I want to do something just like the rest of you.

Am getting pretty huge myself now and have almost put on 2 stone (am 27+4) although I still think I was almost 7lbs under weight when I started (due to being an idiot and dieting too much) so I am only about 1 and a half stone above my ideal weight.
Bubs is still moving but def feeling a bit different. Am starting to worry about all these preterm labour symptoms you are supposed to start looking out for as they seem to be general 'i am pregnant' symptoms.
Don't think my pelvic floors are going so well atm either. Seem to be getting wet patches most days.....

Anyone else starting to feel continuously hungry (more than before) I stuffed in a Mcdonalds last night after my tea as I just wanted to eat. Really need to find some healthy snacks to eat.

Plus side dh has another interview tomorrow so yay and he painted the nursery ceiling and when I asked if I should get my dad to bring up his overalls at the weekend to help do the walls he said he might have done it by then! He has really made progress with the doing stuff!

Can't wait for the folks to visit. They have told me that they are going to take me to morrisons to do a full weeks shop and I am allowed treats too. I have picked all the meals for next week that I want to do but normally don't because they have too many or too expensive ingredients. Its going to be ace! Am feeling a bit spoilt as I am 27 so its a bit bad that my parents are going to pay for my shop but with only 1 wage coming in it will be so nice to have actual food in the house and lots of it.
Oh and my BIL is coming for tea tonight as he is working near by so my sister has made him come to drop baby stuff off and I have made a massive lasagne.

TobyLerone · 15/10/2013 13:40

:o MrsV. I have a million stretchmarks already, but no new ones yet. They never hurt before, but I'll keep an eye out.

Another, the burning pain is totally different from the 'kicked in the fanny' pain. The latter is definitely on the bone, like a bruise. Pretty sure that's SPD. But ligament pain seems more likely for the other thing.

Isn't pregnancy glamorous, Sultana? Fanny pain, burning sensations, and not to mention this sodding itchy nipple I've had for weeks.
LOL at the accidental groping :o

Good luck to your DH for tomorrow, Frizz. Glad he's pulled his finger out a bit :)
Your parents taking you shopping sounds like a lovely treat. What a nice thing to do. You're not spoilt, though. I'm 36 and my mum still buys me things sometimes!

I went for coffee with a couple of friends this morning, which made a nice change. I've also done all the shopping for the week, including loads of chocolate and crap for DS's birthday cake on Saturday :o And I've made dinner already -- it's in the slow cooker. We're having lamb casserole with cumin, rosemary and red wine, served with crumbled feta and yogurt, and mashed potato. Can't wait!

BookTart · 15/10/2013 13:46

That sounds like SPD toby, could it be the pelvis separating or something?

It is all glamour isn't it?! I spent the last couple of days being kicked in the bladder and rectum (that was nice) and now she's back to her usual not moving at all ways, which I am hoping is just because I had my flu jab yesterday.

My random symptoms today include shooting pains in my arm, an inability to walk without waddling and just being generally massive. Nobody believes this baby isn't due until January because I'm so fecking huge. I've had to retire my maternity jeans because they are too small around the middle now. I'm starting to get the arse with it all quite frankly Grin

TobyLerone · 15/10/2013 13:51

Has anyone else had really tired/restless arms in the evenings? It's so weird. It's like I can't even lift them because they're really weak and heavy, but I can't keep them still. It's quite strange and very annoying!

TobyLerone · 15/10/2013 13:53

Holy crap. Stop the presses. CHOCOLATE BAILEY'S IS A THING.

AnotherStitchInTime · 15/10/2013 14:14

I have nerve pain, tingling and numbness in my arms caused by a nerve getting trapped when I sleep, push the buggy or use the computer a lot Book.

The restless legs thing pisses me right off too Toby, especially when I just want to go to sleep. Chocolate baileys might be the solution, although the whiskey content might limit our intake slightly.

Grin at the accidental groping Sultana. My DH does it in his sleep, but poor bloke must be a bit frustrated due to our sex ban, so I don't get the hump if he wakes me.

Has anyone else had the horrifically real pregnancy nightmares yet? I have had a couple already and they stay with me all day, especially as they involve the baby. I was a wreck yesterday.

extracrunchy · 15/10/2013 15:01

Argh Another I was just about to post about nightmares!! Just woke up from a lovely nap and dreamt loads of fluid had disappeared from my tummy so could feel the baby really clearly through my skin. Was having a poke about and she very suddenly grabbed my hand. Scared the absolute shit out of me!!

Chocolate Baileys YESSSS... Determined to erupt before Christmas (due 28th Dec) so can have a small one.

Restless legs I had a lot last time but less time. (Cue major issues tonight!)

extracrunchy · 15/10/2013 15:02

Erm I meant a small Bailey's, not a small baby..! That's not going to happen - DS was born at 36+5 and 8lb5, so I'm expecting another beast.

Bluecarrot · 15/10/2013 15:06

Gah. My message disappered!

Whoever was asking about sling meets and nappicinos (cloth nappy meets) while I haven't been to one yet, I'm pretty sure its full of women dying to tell you all about them. I'm going to a sling one in the morning even though I've already chosen and bought my sling (boba) but might pick up some helpful hints, ways to carry in it for breastfeeding etc.

As for cloth nappies I got some peg things like this except from pound land. They are great for drying liners, boosters, breast pads and wraps. I don't think they would be much good for prefolds or shaped nappies simply because they would be too bunched together.

My prefolds (bambino mio I think- were given to me) dry really quick- less than a day, whereas my bamboo little lambs took almost 2 days (house was about 14c though). Thenappylady website give you a good idea of how long the nappies take to dry.

Lots if councils in England do free trial packs and / or discounts so might be worth looking into.

BookTart · 15/10/2013 15:54

I'm wondering whether all the arm problems are carpal tunnel? I think up to 50% of pregnant women get it in some form. I'm pretty sure my job, endless internet surfing and lots of knitting aren't helping though! I might ask my midwife on Thursday.

I wish we had a sling library as well. The local NCT is setting one up at the moment I think, but it will be too late for me by the time it is up and running. I haven't got a clue what to get - are they all very different? I've been looking online but everyone seems to rate different types.

I'm planning on buying a trial pack of reusable nappies from The Nappy Lady (or maybe recreate a trial pack second hand from eBay) to see which type and shape suit my baby the best once she's here. I'd be gutted to spend hundreds on a set and then have them leak or something!

extra - surely by that late stage a small Baileys at Christmas would be okay? I haven't had any booze so far, which is little short of miraculous, but I'll sure as hell be having a little something then. We'll probably need it!
