Am v Envy of the new house, Humpty. How exciting!

Mac2014 · 10/10/2013 18:16

Me please humpty

Well... I had a complete meltdown at work. My boss was nice to me and asked me if I was doing to much and needed to hand anything over early.

I bawled, like a child, with a mascara covered face.

And she assured me she'd do everything to make sure I had the same or better job when I came back... Set me off again.

I'm a complete emotional hormone. I have never rarely and have blanked it cried at work. Felt like a right dick.

But obviously needed to from all of the stress at the mo...

So loulou it's not just you [grins]

flyawayblue · 10/10/2013 18:24

Lalunya85 that sounds really positive, I think I need to think like that.

The new house sounds lovely Humpty and Envy over the piano.

Mac, I'd be the same if he asked. Actually think I could cry at most things at the moment - too many emotions Smile

Mac2014 · 10/10/2013 18:37

It is ridiculous what sets me off at the moment.

A one legged pigeon pushed me over the edge...

Ridiculous.

Bluecarrot · 10/10/2013 18:47

Thanks for all the positive vibes :)

Another he wont do Relate as he thinks we shouldnt have to involve others...he likes to resolve stuff in his head, I like to talk it out (and talk and talk and talk ;) I think he actually thinks Im still being unreasonable and putting it down to hormones, but right now, as long as he picks up after himself and the stuff gets done, I dont mind if he thinks its temporary!

I havent mentioned the pregnancy on fb so wont be joining the group. Its a good idea though.

The local La leche league meeting is tomorrow so Im going with a friend. Quite looking forward to it - need to fake some confidence though.

As its so sunny today I decided to wash all the new baby stuff. A dozen vests and sleepsuits in bright primary colours that I suppose are a bit boyish, hanging beside these very girly nappies...just to confuse the neighbours ;)

Then I printed up my hospital bag lists and started packing as much as I can now. Mostly toiletries, ear plugs, sleep mask, the sling...that sort of thing!

Toothfairy78 · 10/10/2013 19:25

Wow! blue you are organised!

I want to know what this pinkberry thing is now!

Today dept head told me he noticed I stayed late and said not to do it. If I can't finish a job at the end of the day not to worry about it. And if anyone gives me hassle send them to him. Also he said seating arrangements are about to be changed in my area. No specifics yet, but should be getting the new (yet to be hired) admin manager in with us and to make space, there shall be some 'ballet'. Didn't want to ask if MrMardyPants was being moved or the bitchy git with appalling personal habits. I have something to look forward to!

Hugs to those who cried today. Hormones totally suck balls!

And good to hear about GTT tests today. I have mine next week, soaking up as much intel as possible. Have already got DH to agree to give me a lift for it.

Oh, and I was waiting for my MW appointment today and saw something quite sweet. A couple coming out of the MW office with the man walking alongside his wife, proudly carrying brandishing the bounty folder!

Blue a secret FB group doesn't show up to anyone but members of the group. I'm in several already. Nothing shows on my wall, or in anyone's newsfeed.
Good luck with the LLL meeting. Hope things keep looking up with DP.

Pinkberry is an American company who do the most delicious frozen yogurt with all sorts of toppings. There aren't many in the UK, sadly.

I think I might be abnormal. I'm not any more emotional. Nor am I any moodier, according to DH. I am more scatterbrained, though.

Angelesque · 10/10/2013 19:41

humpty think I have managed to PM you my email address to join FB group - hooray!

TarkaTheOtter · 10/10/2013 19:45

Ooh if none of you have heard back from the hospital you might all be ok with the gtt. They told me the bad news same day (left a message at home before I'd even got back).

I was up in the loft yesterday (looking for bits of our single pushchair as getting ready to sell) and allowed myself a quick peek at the newborn clothes bag but am determined to not get it down until we have somewhere to put them. Got a lot of baby stuff up there though so going to have a very empty loft (and very full house) once the baby arrives.

flyawayblue · 10/10/2013 19:52

wow blue that is organised.

My MIL is washing some for us that we sorted a few weeks ago (they're stored in her loft as we live in a flat). looking forward to collecting them and adding them to the new room :)

I'm not looking forward to the GTT test, says the one lying down eating maltesers.

AnotherStitchInTime · 10/10/2013 20:50

I'm the same as you toby, too busy larking about with a toddler to be more emotional, but I have been a complete scatter brain since dd1 was born and it has got worse with each pregnancy.

Just been online window shopping for the last bits we need. I just need to make a final decision on which wrap sling I want, too many colour choices.

Bluecarrot · 10/10/2013 20:53

I dont have a nursery to decorate yet (plaster coming in 3-4 weeks) so I need to channel the nesting somehow!

If its a private group then count me in :) Can someone pm me to join it? Angelesque?

I havent been told anything about a GTT test..how far along are those of you getting it? My next apt is at 30 weeks (two and and a half weeks) - maybe they will tell me then

TobyLerone · 10/10/2013 21:04

I was thinking the same, Blue. Why did they ask those of you who have had GTTs to have them? (If that's not an impertinent question!)

Sultanajo · 10/10/2013 21:31

Yay - glad the GTTs went well and you all deserve the feasts you have had!

Toby what a shame about your DH and his cock up and even more so about your lack of Pinkberry! I wanted to live vicariously through you!

What is it with the nice bosses today? Makes a change! I too would have bawled like a baby if mine had been nice to me. Instead today was the usual shite so didn't need to do any bawling, although one of my appraisals went so well today and that brought a tear to my eye, because my guidance seems to finally be sinking in with this member of staff! Hurray!

One legged pigeon - I can just imagine how that pushed you over the edge Mac!

MrsGSR · 10/10/2013 21:39

I'm having the GTT because my dad is diabetic. I think they only give it to those with a close family history, a history of GD in previous pregnancys or if they're measuring much too big.

Sultanajo · 10/10/2013 22:00

Blue and Toby I was referred after my 20 weeks scan because bub's abdomen was off the scale large. Had the GTT at 25 weeks and came back negative! Hurray!

Wow Blue you are super organised with your lists!

Sultanajo · 10/10/2013 22:32

Do u know, I have a pair of maternity pj bottoms that are so big when I am standing up that they fall down and yet when I sit down they suddenly become too tight! WTF! How does that work then?

Bubs is keeping me on my toes today - super quiet this morning when he is usually super active and instead has been wriggling about this evening when he is normally snoozing. Just when I thought I had worked out his pattern of movement! Little monkey! Grin

Naturegirl82 · 10/10/2013 22:50

My goodness blue your list has scared the crap out of me!

Just out of interest how come you have been told they will need to determine baby's blood group and who is the jab for, you or baby? I'm curious as I'm rh- but haven't been told anything like that!

Can't remember who asked about GTT but I had mine because of PCOS which increases risk of developing GD.

TobyLerone · 10/10/2013 22:52

Wow, blue, that list is amazing! You're brave, going all-washable even in hospital. I don't think I could be bothered going home with even more stuff to wash than I'll have already. Kudos!

Also, what are tuck pads?

Thanks for the GTT info, ladies :)

TobyLerone · 10/10/2013 22:57

Oh, PS, DH highly recommends Lansinoh.

He wore a new shirt today, for his interview. Normally I wash everything we get new before we wear it. But I only bought him the shirt yesterday and he didn't get home to try it on til 8.30 last night, so I didn't have time to wash it.
Also, he usually wears a t-shirt under his shirts, but this one is too fitted.

So anyway, he ended up with chafed nipples :o

I bought some Lansinoh today as I saw it on offer, so I made him try it! He says it's amazing :o

Bluecarrot · 10/10/2013 23:07

The jab is for both I think - baby can get a severe form of anemia if rh+, and you need it too in case bloods mixed in delivery and you create antibodies (dangerous for future babies), but I think you get it automatically? It was in the leaflet the hospital sent about rh-.

Tuck pads are medicated pads (small discs) that you put on your sore bits after the baby is born- probably front and back. They are imported from the US but you can get them on amazon. Im also getting earth angel mama bottom spray as an alternative. AND making pads with some aloe vera gel and witch hazel on them to help soothe down there... Im not taking any chances. Im not sure if the hospital provide anything .ill be asking a midwife at my next visit. Jug is to pour warm water on bits while you pee as it might sting. (i had c section last time, so this isnt first hand experience talking here - just research!)

For those who dont fancy using cloth pads, I heard that tena lady incontinence pants (not the pads) are an excellent choice for the first few days. I cant use disposable pads at all at the best of times!

I used cloth nappies on dd and got a lot of weird looks, but I reckon its far more common now than it was 11 years ago when I had her. And they really arent that much hassle. The cuteness wins!

Sultanajo · 10/10/2013 23:11

blue OMG!

Toby thats hilarious and very useful information! Grin

Bluecarrot · 10/10/2013 23:13

Oh, ta toby, must add nipple cream in. I didnt rate the Lasinoh personally. DD wouldnt nurse after Id used it, but I know a lot of women do use it.

Wonder if we can get samples of a few types from somewhere? Anyone received any in new mum packs? I fancied the earth mama one til someone said their batch was mouldy! I heard breast milk works too..
