Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
apprenticemamma · 30/09/2013 23:01

actually I'm contemplating a sicky v soon to get back into daybreak/homes under the hammer , and 60 minutes makeover firm in prep for mat leave . (yep we don't have sky) . Geordie shore and made in Chelsea got me thru the night feeds Wink

Prambo · 30/09/2013 23:03

Apprentice, it sounds as if your DH is taking this counselling seriously, which is great. To be honest, I salute any bloke who agrees to commit to therapy; it's so not in their nature to think deeply about who they are and how they relate to others.

It's a shame mums have to 'prove their worth' after they've had children.

Prambo · 30/09/2013 23:04

We're giving up Sky when we move to our new house thanks to financial constraints. If I weren't with child I would have put my head in th'oven by now...

OwlinaTree · 30/09/2013 23:12

apprentice I've watched the wire, but not the sopranos. I would recommend the wire.

Does feel like the end of an era, will have to watch bb allagain!

Rockchick1984 · 30/09/2013 23:15

Apprentice the Sopranos is fab! My mat leave programme of choice was Law & Order SVU, love that show!

Pram I never had sky until DS was born and needed something for the night feeds, maybe see about getting it back once baby is here if you leave for 6 months you're classed as a new customer and get all the good deals back

Prambo · 30/09/2013 23:22

Rock, I've already decided that's how we'll spend the Child Benefit Hmm

Jolleigh · 01/10/2013 06:44

Grin at muddle

Pram - Mace is a very potent spice that you only need a teeny tiny bit of to make something taste awesome. It's also the spice you slip a table spoon of into someone's cake mix if they've pissed you off.

Wonder77 · 01/10/2013 06:45

We didn't have Sky on my first and all that was on during night feeds was late night poker. As a result, I have a mean poker face and really should start a career in Vegas. I am so hoping we can still afford sky this time round but it is looking dubious.

x0gawjus0x · 01/10/2013 06:55

My stomachs gone really hard all lf a sudden wonder if its cos i have about 3 days of poo in there or its start of a bump!!

Morning ladies. Sorry for being absent for a couple of threads, been very busy.
I'm after some advise though as I'm worried. I've had in the right of my abdomen and groin a sharp stabbing pain on and off since Friday. At times I can't feel it at all, then I stretch my leg and its there. Is it normal ligament stretching, is it as simple as a pulled muscle or is it something more? I don't want to contact the midwife without good reason, but starting to worry.

x0gawjus0x · 01/10/2013 07:39

As for what to watch my choices will be come dine with me and the real houswewives :D

karamcleod · 01/10/2013 07:52

sunshine I could be ligament pain or it could be something else I'd make an appiontment to see your GP just to get it checked out.

faithfulandtruthful · 01/10/2013 08:11

Hello all,

I have been unable to keep up, with Mumsnet consuming many hours of the day, my OH who is incredibly understanding in general has started to feel a bit of a mumsnet widow, so I'm giving you ladies up, when I do pop back you'll have to excuse my total cluelessness as I simply cannot spend the hours every week catching up on the millions of posts I missed at the weekend. I hope you can all forgive me.

If anyone on here can turn their hand to a spot of sewing you may want to check out DIY Maternity I just stumbled across it looking for a way to 'Upcycle' 'normal person' clothes into 'I am a Whale' clothes. I am still not showing and give myself roughly 3 weeks before the decent in to belly bands and undone trousers (go ahead hate me if you will).

Last night I felt my baby kick from the outside, I was lying in bed and I put my hand on my tummy and baby kicked me right in the palm of my hand (good times) I'm 17 weeks. OH and I laid there for ages just feeling the baby kick it was lovely.

I hope all is well with the Martians, bet we've had a few more gender reveals since I was last here (thread 9).

faithfulandtruthful · 01/10/2013 08:18

Sunshine Glad its not just me who cannot keep up with this lot! Sounds like the kind of thing I would speak to MW or GP about (bear in mind that I am unkeen on the medical profession in general and avoid where at all possible!!). I hope you get it sorted soon.

liberuna · 01/10/2013 08:26

apprentice glad to hear counselling is going well

pram apparently the series 'blacklist' is quite good.

For non-sky people like me, if you have Internet I recommend streaming or downloads for your viewing pleasures.

Sunshine depends where on right but ive been having similar issues it could be stretching or kidney infection. my gp was sooo reassuring Not but they're running some tests to be safe. Always call midwife/gp if worried Smile

LyraSilvertongue · 01/10/2013 08:26

That's lovely F&T. I have yet to feel any kicks from the outside. I can't wait for that because I want DP to feel them too. I have been feeling lots of little kicks on the inside, several times a day now Smile
Please continue to post here. It's not compulsory to read every post first if you don't have time. Just skim, maybe? We got our first set of twins in your absence (new poster).

Jolleigh · 01/10/2013 08:31

Pregnancy is weird. Had to do an emergency stop on the way to work and the contents of my bag promptly emptied into the passenger foot well. Leaned to get it all once I was parked and it honestly felt like someone shoved a white-hot poker up my arse. No fecking idea what it was but I know I never want it to happen again Angry

faithfulandtruthful · 01/10/2013 08:37

Lyra It won't be long I wouldn't imagine before you will too.

I was surprised cause I felt loads of movement around 14weeks and after a week it stopped (I think it was because my womb had moved up and baby had more space). Last week (16w) I felt a few movements but not really kicks more the baby moving around (including one night where It lodged itself on my right hand side and didn't move all night, you could feel it through my tummy).

At the weekend I ate dairy (I'm dairy free, it was a dire emergency!!) so my tummy has been complaining lots but I thought I wonder if that is actually part baby kicks, so put my hand on my tummy and after about 10mins I felt a kick it was amazing. I can only feel it whilst lying on my back and I'm very petite (no 'mummy tummy' was my MWs turn of phrase!), so baby aint got no space, although it feels like its doing laps of my womb!! It is very active ( like its parents).

SuperMuddle · 01/10/2013 08:51

Thank you for the link, f&t! I will check that out soon. I'm mostly too big for normal clothes, but not into maternity stuff yet, so have been living in loose dresses and a pair of charity shop jeans in a larger size. Will need to get actual bump clothes in a few weeks, on almost no money, so DIY is a good option!

Feeling very jealous of people feeling kicks. I've felt nothing at all yet Sad. I'm hoping that's normal for 15 weeks, as some people have been feeling them for weeks now, and I haven't even felt what I might assume to be wind. Except for, you know, actual farts, and I don't think that'll be it...

LyraSilvertongue · 01/10/2013 09:01

Muddle, I think I felt first kicks around 18 weeks in my first pregnancy so worry ye not. I think it's normal not to have felt anything at 15 weeks for first-timers.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 01/10/2013 09:08

Super, typical range is supposed to be 16-20 weeks but usually 18-20 for a first pregnancy. Also things like placenta position can affect it - I felt movement two weeks later the third time than the second which I think must've been because I had an anterior placenta.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 01/10/2013 09:16

Not sure who it was who was asking about vitamin d supplements (possibly fox?) but I looked at NHS choices which says that taking more than 25mcg/day can be harmful but that under that should be fine: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vitamins-minerals/Pages/Vitamin-D.aspx

MummyPig24 · 01/10/2013 09:42

meg get it checked out just to be safe but in sure it's nothing serious.

Are we still meant to be taking vitamin d? I thought it was just the first 12 weeks like folic acid.

I've got a rotten cold, feel like shit. And when we got up this morning we had no water because of a huge leak in the village. Luckily last night I bought a carton of oj, which I never do, but I'm glad I did or we would have been super thirsty. Dd and I don't like milk, ds would have drunk milk so he would have been ok.

I am shunning the house work in favour of watching midwives with the cat.

faithfulandtruthful · 01/10/2013 09:44

Super what Lyra is saying is I'm not 'normal' Ha ha! (don't know how she knows me so well). I wouldn't worry about not feeling kicks, I assume I can because I am super skinny and my child has 0 space in there. I am still in my size 8/10 pre-preggers clothes (done up properly) and comfortable in them. Disgusting I know. It all depends on where the baby is and what position your placenta is in etc. as the other ladies have said.

I don't know if it was on that website or elsewhere that suggested that you used a hair tie looped around your button hole and then hooked on to the button to extend your trousers but I totally plan to do that plus obtain a belly band or two to hold up trousers. My friend suggested a boob tube from primark as a cheap alternative to an actual 'official' one or I might try the no sew belly band on that site, which is just a tank top a size smaller with the top cut off (probs from primark also).

For more interesting articles on pimping your own maternitywear, I highly recommend typing in 'maternity clothes diy' into pinterest there are loads of ideas on there.

So glad I'm not alone in the zero budget for maternity clothes department!!
