No men aren't always 100 percent supportive. And I can't say I'm always 100 percent supportive either. That's life and human nature. I don't think me Lyra pram kara are being in anyway heroic, just trying to address issues , ranting and providing mutual support.

But I do want to thank you also , bc your comments have made me leap to my dhs defense and remind myself of his many positive qualities Wink

HotCrossPun · 29/09/2013 18:17

I don't think baby meant to patronise anybody.

Its a difficult line to tread between support for the issues or niggles that people are writing about and not slating their partners.

It's like when I moan about my family to DP. Even though I am always having issues with them for some reason if DP says anything bad about them it gets my back up Grin

HotCrossPun · 29/09/2013 18:18

apprentice I didn't realise your DP was actually Scottish! Grin

LyraSilvertongue · 29/09/2013 18:20

Maybe a difficult line but better to say nothing than to say "you've chosen the wrong men, go out and find new ones". Maybe appropriate if we were all in two-week relationships but we're all pregnant and have made lives with our partners.

Anyway, time to move on. What's for dinner?

HotCrossPun · 29/09/2013 18:24

A Chinese here. Chicken chow mein, spare ribs, prawn crackers, beef curry, spring rolls and Irn Bru.

Now sitting with a pint of Irn Bru and feeling very content. What about you Lyra? Are you whipping up something delicious?

apprenticemamma · 29/09/2013 18:39

hot cross pun yes he is that rare breed of Greek-dundonian!Grin I emigrated from glasvegas to be here with him. But my heart belongs to Glasgow best city in the world! .

Your Chinese sounded lush btw. Roast lamb was amazeballs. Lyra what's cooking?

LyraSilvertongue · 29/09/2013 18:39

Not really. Sweetcorn on the cob, chicken wings and rice. That'll have to do. Your Chinese sounds lovely. Ds2 and I went to the Chinese buffet yesterday. We well and truly stuffed ourselves. Disappointed that they've stopped serving lychees as a dessert. I adore lychees.

IceNoSlice · 29/09/2013 18:50

Hottie same here, I'm allowed to moan about my family (especially my dad who can be v ponderous and dull) but my DH isn't allowed to join in or I defend them!

Mmmm that Chinese sounds am-may-zing. Beans/cheese/bacon on toast here after a big Sunday roast at the pub with both sets of GPs (eek!)

Hmm, is a Chinese appropriate on a Monday night? Feels a bit like the weekday equivalent of January when you should be healthy and not spend too much money...

Babybear, I hope you don't sod off for good now; you hardly this thread anymore and I've only recently been asking after you. I think it smarts when someone says 'your DH's sound like arsewipes, why not find another?' Your last post was nice, though, and I can see you wanted to bolster us perhaps. How have you been anyway? You've been very quiet.

We're having last night's beef stew & dumplings again with goose fat roasties and mash. I'm just catching up on last weeks' Downton and boy, has that drama lost its appeal. They can all fuck off as far as I'm concerned. Uppity twats.

Prambo · 29/09/2013 18:52

*was meant to say 'you hardly visit the thread anymore...'

Prambo · 29/09/2013 18:53

*week's

IceNoSlice · 29/09/2013 18:56

Prambo did you see my post this morning about your fridge cake recipe? I'm looking forward to some gluttony erm, baking, at some point this week [lip licking emoticon]

Im making us a roast dinner then going bk to my dads.. Ive made huge yorkshires for the veg yumyum :)

Prambo · 29/09/2013 19:01

Ice! Yes! The recipe is Gordon Ramsay's and it is called 'cranberry, marshmallow and peanut chocolate fridge cake'. I ripped it out of a magazine but have since found it difficult to link online. Have a go and come back to me if you're struggling. It's more delicious than its rivals, I tell thee.

Prambo · 29/09/2013 19:01

Gawj, do you make your own yorkies? Have you substituted your OH for your dad tonight, then?

LyraSilvertongue · 29/09/2013 19:03

What does one do with 4kg of cherry tomatoes? They're from the market so I expect I've only got a few days to use them before they go off. Tomato soup is the obvious answer but any other ideas?

Rockchick1984 · 29/09/2013 19:04

I'm having dominos for tea fatty :) Decided to get back to healthy eating tomorrow, have stuffed myself silly all weekend and feel like I weigh about 50stone!

OwlinaTree · 29/09/2013 19:16

wonder tis tough, but unfortunately you can only give up an addiction if you want to. However much you nag it probably won't help, he has to want to. It's very hard for you, but all you can do is have one more serious chat with him and then leave it to him.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 29/09/2013 19:23

Lyra spread them out on a baking tray maybe with some red onions and slow roast. once they are nice and shrivelled, liquidise. Either alone or with some cooked bacon. makes lovely soup or nice pasta sauce. easily freezable and really yummy.

IceNoSlice · 29/09/2013 19:25

Lyra you could make a tomato sauce base for bolognaise type recipes then freeze in batches. However I had a load of toms from my plants and I googled 'how to freeze tomatoes' and t'Internet told me I could just freeze them as they were (ie no blanching or anything) so I have. Apparently the skins just peel off easily when they defrost and they're great for cooking with. But I haven't defrosted any yet, so can't tell you how they came out.

Writer have we scared you off? I hope not Wink

Home made Yorkies are the best Gawj!

MummyPig24 · 29/09/2013 19:31

I always miss all the action. Sorry some people are having a tough time with ohs being arsey. Luckily dh has been lovely today or I might have killed him.

My arm really hurts, it's red and swollen and sore. But we did have a lovely dinner, roast pork, roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage, leeks in cheese sauce, pigs in blankets and gravy. Poor ds, who has never refused a meal in his life, had a bad tummy ache and couldn't eat it. I've put it in the fridge for him to have tomorrow.

LyraSilvertongue · 29/09/2013 19:39

Thanks for the ideas. I may try them all.

Jolleigh · 29/09/2013 19:44

Lyra - tomato and red onion chutney. Will keep forever and is great with cheese and crackers.
