Maybe when it's your own though, you look at it and go 'yep, he's definitely Jonno' Smile

commsgirl · 27/09/2013 10:38

Kara Conor :)

Grey we've been thinking about this. I'll be interested in people's answers!

rescoonetwothree · 27/09/2013 10:38

fox mines in 20 mins Sad they don't tell you how many needles they'll be shoving in you during pregnancy

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/09/2013 10:39

Haven't had mine yet Fox, will speak to the mw when I see her.

Kara I like Connor.

Grey I have no idea how to go about that!

commsgirl · 27/09/2013 10:44

Fox haven't had mine yet. Seeing the me on Tuesday so will mention it then although we'll have a nurse coming into work in a few weeks to do them so I might just wait until then.

MummyPig24 · 27/09/2013 10:50

apprentice are you feeling better today?

kara Connor is the most common spelling so I would go with that to save all the "how do you spell it?" Saying that we picked the most common spelling of dds name and still nobody gets it right. It pisses me off!

I've just been to a Macmillan coffee morning, it was lovely. My mum was cared for in a Macmillan hospice so it's a cause close to my heart.

karamcleod · 27/09/2013 10:50

I don't think I'll be going for a flu jab.

Siobhan for a girl, thoughts?

eln77 · 27/09/2013 10:51

connor gets my vote kara

no mention of flu jabs for me yet, although I've not been to the docs since my booking in appointment (when I saw the mw anyway). got my next appointment in mid October so i'm guessing they'll mention it then (its with the doctor not mw this time)...

got really bad ligament pain today. last night my right side started hurt so bad I actually let out a little yelp...

i'd just like to ask... what is it with commuters and pregnant women?!?! i don't have the 'baby on board' badge yet as i'm not showing so didn't think it necessary. yesterday however i had a bit of a funny turn coming into work on the train so asked a guy sitting by me if i could sit down as i was pregnant and felt unwell... his answer was 'no badge, no seat'!!!! unbelievable. someone else gave me their seat so all was fine but i do find some people astonishing.

i'm going to get me a badge today and then on Monday i'm going to find this tosser and stab him with the needle on the back of the badge. repeatedly.

MummyPig24 · 27/09/2013 11:02

eln when you do get the badge, track down the fucker and stab him with it! How rude, I think I would have cried or kicked him!

My flu jab is tomorrow morning.

MummyBee87 · 27/09/2013 11:07

Oh my world eln!! I have to say, last time I was there I felt too guilty to get a badge as I'm not showing, I thought someone would moan at me for it. Looks like you just can't win with some people!!! Grrs. I hope you're feeling better now though.
I'm on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for the next week or so, we picked up a load of baby stuff from our friends last night so a little bit exciting, although I've not had a chance to look through it yet, but we're getting new carpets laid today - mega exciting, but then putting the house up for sale next week so rather sad Sad but it will all be worth it in the end to get a nice little house on the right side of Manchester and closer to my family for a bit of support Grin. Hopefully I'll get my happy ending before sprog arrives, I'll get majorly depressed if the house doesn't sell Angry. Hope everyone elses moving plans are going well!! xx

rescoonetwothree · 27/09/2013 11:08

eln call your surgery they'll most likely book you in that way!

I thought Conor was most common that's the only way the ones I know spell it? Whoops!

You'll always get people asking anyway, my names very common but they always check it's not spelt the uncommon way!

SuperMuddle · 27/09/2013 11:10

I prefer Conor, although Connor is the more common anglicised spelling. Whichever way you spell it, people will get it wrong! Don't like Conner, it looks like a description of someone who cons people...

Siobhan is lovely.

My dh is half Irish as well, so have been considering Celtic names. Had the idea of looking through his family tree for inspiration, but they have not been a very imaginative family when it comes to naming babies!

Will speak to MW in a couple of weeks about flu jab if I haven't had anything through the post before then. Why aren't you having the jab kara, if you don't mind my asking?

karamcleod · 27/09/2013 11:16

I had a friend called Ysabeau at school and everyone pronounced and spelt it wrong. Pronounced is-a-bo. Such a shame as its a beautiful name.
I love irish gaelic spellings but there always seems to be problems with pronouncing and spelling in english. I really liked chonchubhar as a spelling but I can see all the problems that come with it :(

karamcleod · 27/09/2013 11:23

I'm not having the jab as I got it 2 years ago and I still had the flu a few weeks later, and I've also been vaccinated for rhubella but I don't have immunity that so I don't think I'll bother

Jolleigh · 27/09/2013 11:31

What on earth is a baby on board badge!? Sounds like a publuc transport trump card so pregnant ladies get a seat? Makes me sad that we need badges to enforce common courtesy (though I understand a badge could be necessary in the early days before showing if a woman is suffering from pelvic pain or morning sickness). Surely if a woman clearly has a bump, someone just gets the fuck up?!?

Admittedly I may be a bit naive about public transport nowadays. I avoid it like the plague as last time I used it some dirty scrote sneezed in my hair.

Jolleigh · 27/09/2013 11:37

Tickets for the Manchester baby show booked Smile Same for our NCT antenatal classes. My my I'm organised this morning.

JustCallMeBaldrick · 27/09/2013 11:37

I'm so bored!!!! At a coffee morning selling cards, and no-one's buying any. I'm going to have to get some more cake soon...

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/09/2013 11:37

Joll I have a badge. London transport is a whole other world. People don't care if you have a bump, or if you have a badge. Or both. I nearly passed out on a train the other week, no one would give me a seat. There was a really nice man who said he would make someone move for me, but I didn't want to cause a scene, so he just kept his eye on me. Commuters in London actively avoid eye contact.

Kara you were unlucky to get the flu after the jab. They can only vaccinate for the strain they think will be most virulent, so you must have caught another one. I'd still really recommend getting a jab, just in case.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 27/09/2013 11:39

Mummyp I ran a marathon for Macmillan. They're amazing aren't they.

Are you at one too Joll?

karamcleod · 27/09/2013 11:41

I hate bin men.

FoxMulder · 27/09/2013 11:46

I can't believe people would be such dick heads as to not take your word that you're pregnant and get up. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Good job I don't have to get public transport to work, our nearest bus/train station is a 90 minute walk away!

Jol are you going to the show tomorrow?

That reminds me I have GOT to call NCT and find out if the local one according to the website really is the local one. It seems a long way away.

Kara You might have already had the flu virus before you had the jab. They incubate for ages. Or it was just a different strain. Flu can be really dangerous for us preggos.

I like Siobhan by the way.

Jolleigh · 27/09/2013 11:47

Indeed NoMaybe I'm at the show tomorrow for as long as it takes for DP to start complaining anyway

People can say what they like about northerners, but if a pregnant woman was stood up and someone refused to move, I'm nearly certain someone would remove them bodily from their seat. I've never even seen a pregnant woman have to ask if she clearly has a bump. Were these people raised by pigs?!?

FoxMulder · 27/09/2013 11:48

Ooh, might see you there Jol

SuperMuddle · 27/09/2013 11:49

What have the bin men done to incur your wrath, kara?

And where the hell is prambonerlover???

Jolleigh · 27/09/2013 11:54

Id you're on the Facebook page I shall study your pic so I know who to keep my eye out for! Wink
