Ok we don't. We're sick a lot, cry at adverts, moan about back/hip pain and if we got a quid for each new stretchmark generated we could all give up work and employ a nanny.

In fact if you know any teenagers feel free to show them our threads...we are the most effective contraceptive since sliced bread don't ask.

Ladies...as you were....

Champagne. Do post a picture!

When I was bf last time I saw a programme that said you would have to drink a whole bottle of vodka or equivalent before enough alcohol got through to the
Milk to do any harm! Not planning to go that far, so that's good enough for me!

Ladies minor scare this afternoon, as it turns out I did contract a UTI after my bout of Gaviscon-induced misery on Monday. I felt the pressure behind my urethra on Monday, tried to ditch it by drinking as much water as I could, yesterday I was still feeling grotty, and today have been having teeny tiny stabbing pains right in the vag area...I called the GPs and apparently a pregnant woman with suspected UTI warrants an urgent appointment so was seen this evening, and now have antibiotics for a mild infection. I remember my MW at the booking in appt telling me that the single biggest cause of miscarriage in the UK was UTIs, so I urge you all to keep the symptons in mind and have no compunction about going to get them checked out. I used to get cystitis every so often, so am familiar with the sensation, but do read up - I very nearly didn't go, as it wasn't burning/painful, but I had an inkling something was off-kilter.

The good news is that now I have drugs, and relief. The comedy news is that after 6 months+ of not waxing my legs, my need to swim overcame my need to not shave before waxing again, and I made a start on my yeti legs in the shower, which allowed me to do one, but cut out before I could start the other. My left leg is now fractionally heavier than my right leg and I must concentrate else I walk in wide circles. Am now going to threaten the shower until it cooperates again.

Sassy20 · 09/10/2013 21:25

Gnitting - glad you're ok and have got antibiotics. What are the symptoms that we should look out for? X

gnittinggnome · 09/10/2013 21:45

Gah, this penis beaker thing is crashing MN tonight!

Had a long reply, it has just been eaten. This link has lots of useful info though:

Guys I'm way way behind on this but just made choccy cake in a mug...wow!

Yey to everyone firming up mat leave plans. ..Haven't told my work yet at all but planning to after my scan Friday

sunflowered · 10/10/2013 06:39

I told my boss yesterday I'll be off from 22 jan (35+5ish) - still seems so far away but know it's going to go very quickly.

Thisisfreakingmeout · 10/10/2013 07:58

All this talk of leave makes me realise I need to firm up my plans! Crikey! What is the official deadline and do you know if it must be in writing?

I must now be officially bumptastic because randoms will ask me what I am having without any trepidation. Every time I see someone after a space of 7 days or more I am greeted with hilarity at my bulk.

sunflowered · 10/10/2013 08:15

thisis - I thought my bump was pretty obvious and pretty big but yesterday was complaining to someone that I don't have any nice clothes that fit and she patted me on the shoulder and said 'it's ok, I have that problem too'. She is definitely not pregnant!!

Sassy20 · 10/10/2013 08:32

Thanks Gnitting.

Whoever has the chocolate cake in a mug recipe please could you post it as still haven't tried it but really want to! Grin

winterflowers · 10/10/2013 09:17

Google all recipe cake mug and ut should come up! Haven't worked out copy paste on my phone...

I think u have to officially inform work hand in mat 1b by 25 weeks...not sure if u have to firm up plans then. U can definitely change them at any pt 28 days in advance though.

Julietee · 10/10/2013 09:37

Thanks Gnitting.
Do you think there's a chance that suddenly having a very sensitive bladder and (argh) leaking a bit between times could be symptoms?

Julietee · 10/10/2013 10:49

An I've had cloudy urine, bugger :( I don't want to bother my doc because he knows I'm a hyperchondriac already, and I don't feel any pain. Hopefully it's nothing.

vix206 · 10/10/2013 11:11

Hi all. Sudden panic here. I'm 25 weeks pregnant today and haven't had a mat1b form yet. Do you get it from the midwife? I'm sure I did last time.

I am classed as employed as dh and I run our own limited company. I'm just worried now as I don't see the midwife for another 3 weeks and really do need to make sure we are covered for my maternity.

Perhaps should call our accountant. Confused

vix206 · 10/10/2013 11:18

Have texted the midwife so hopefully she can leave a form at reception for me.

lyndsey90 · 10/10/2013 11:22

Ugh feeling crap about how I look today weeh. It's probably just in ny head but I feel like i look lumpy all over!! Went to primark and bought tonnes of new tops in a size bigger to what I normally wear cause everything is just tight on my bump!

Realised I ain't posted in weeks!!

I'm having a girl :) I've also spent hundreds on pram, cot bed, Moses basket and tonnes of clothes and bits and bobs!

gnittinggnome · 10/10/2013 12:17

julietee to be honest, I really don't know - I'm not a medical professional, and really don't want to give you bad advice! If you are worried, go and see your GP. Hypochondriac or no, it's better to get checked out than fret and do nothing.

gnittinggnome · 10/10/2013 12:19

lyndsey yay! How exciting on finding out and getting all the bits and pieces Smile

My DH last night relented a little bit on our not-buying loads of stuff decision and we got a few things. Am going to clear out my wardrobe of clothes I can no longer get a leg/arm into, and start a baby-box!

mrscookie78 · 10/10/2013 13:14

I'm planning to finish on Thursday 19th December, only thing is baby isn't due till 10th February Shock god knows what me and the lo will do??

winterflowers · 10/10/2013 13:46

vix my midwife told me I had to get the dr to sign it, and as I wasn't due to see him until wk 25 my work would havr to wait.for it. I didn't loike or trust her very mmuch so got her to give me a blank form and I'll see if someone at the surgery will sign it when I get my flu jab. Pretty sure midwives can tho-someone with a nicer midwife could confirm!

pettyprudence · 10/10/2013 13:55

my mw said last time my matb1 had to be signed by gp. she gave me a form to get signed but I just handed it in at work and they never queried the lack of gp signature Grin

mrscookie78 · 10/10/2013 13:57

I guess everywhere is different but I rang the doctors yesterday and my mw was there so she did the form for me.

laura0007 · 10/10/2013 14:46

My midwife signed my matb1 form!

vix206 · 10/10/2013 15:17

My midwife texted back and said she will look at it next Wednesday. I'll be 26 weeks by then so let's hope it's not going to screw up my maternity allowance ConfusedShock

Sassy20 · 10/10/2013 15:18

I got my mat b form at my 20 wk scan appt at hosp from midwife there so mws can def sign them! X
