New thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Slippysnow · 20/09/2013 22:02

heffalump I'd be concerned about the split too, my stomach makes a ridged when I sit up but no divide thankfully. I saw an image of what you're describing, maybe check it out pre birth while you have more time on your hands, perhaps the gp could advise you. Have no other help, really hope it's nothing though

Natalieand · 20/09/2013 22:02

orange ill second you there. It sucks doesn't it!!! I had a trapped siatic nerve all day yesterday and sitting on the floor was the only way I could sit without being in agony so of course today my pelvis and back are agony as a result of sitting on the floor. Everything hurts. I think everyone is beginning to feel sorry for themselves now Thanks To u xx

3 weeks and 2 days (technically 3 days but as were 2 hours away from midnight I'll say 2 days to make me feel better lol)

OrangeBlossom2 · 20/09/2013 22:14

Yes feeling very sorry for myself nat even though I know really I've had it quite easy. Sorry about your pelvis. Thanks

I have the triangle tummy too, I think probably from continuing sit ups and Pilates until half way through the pregnancy which i now realise i wasn't meant to do. I am not sure there is anything we can do about it until after the baby comes. Just try not to strain your tummy eg getting up from laying down.

claphammama · 20/09/2013 22:18

once again congrats falcon Grin she looks beautiful and such healthy size! how weird about your dates and placenta though... I guess it's one mystery that will never be solved! glad it's all over for you now and you can enjoy her X

flyer I ordered size 8. They had only 12 in the shop and it looked massive. I tried their sizes 8 and 10 in a different top and 8 was very generous, not like normal 8. Even with bigger boobs etc. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow so will let you know how it fits. When are you getting yours? I think we are very similar size so would be interesting to compare.

re: breastfeeding, I'm assuming I can do it again and hope I won't be corrected. I found it hard the first week, it would sometimes take 30-40min for DS to latch on... exhausting but I just refused to give up. One of my nipples was totally flat, almost inwards and he struggled to suck it. So I had to shape it with my hand into something manageable for him. It was hard work... not as easy as people thing. He eventually sucked it out so hope it will be easier this time round. My NCT breastfeeding class helped me enormously. And I haven't read The Art of BF - not sure about hanging out breasts :-) I found that holding him in the right position, as taught in the class, and shaping my breast with my hand to help him was very important. It would never cross my mind to do some things on my own. Not as instinctive as people think!

Exhausted now as DS was a nightmare tonight... Thanks for everyone feeling rough and achy tonight

claphammama · 20/09/2013 22:21

PS.I believe the separating stomach muscles are normal. I've heard it takes about 3 months for them to go back together after birth and was advised not to do any exercise before they do, for 3 months. But I believe some people on the thread were advised differently and were told it's OK to exercise after 6-8 weeks... so not sure what is correct anymore!

Pinkforboys · 20/09/2013 22:27

heffa my tummy is the same. I reckon about 4 finger width of splodgy bit between the tummy muscles. Perfectly normal apparently. (I always thought tummy muscles went sideways til I got pregnant Blush) Mw saw me today and didn't comment. She did ask about the unsightly scab next to my tummy button. I walked into a door handle last weekend. I really have useless body/spatial awareness at the mo.

orange (was it you that asked?) BC uterus is when it's heart-shaped, creating either just a dip or two cones depending on how severe. I'd forgotten about it but perhaps that explains why she's at a funny angle with bum way out to the left and feet out to the right. I was told it might inc chances of a mc with DS but nothing's been said this time. Other than during our several attempts at IVF when it's thrown them when putting the embryos back in.

Having had a good digestive evening my nausea is back. Don't tell me I shd no longer slouch on the sofa in front of the telly!!! Another night sleeping propped up (at least I know I've got good company out there Wink)
Hope you all sleep well x

monkeytree · 20/09/2013 22:35

Hoping that all the ladies who are feeling poorly this evening have a good nights sleep at least sleep may help a little.

SeriousStuff · 20/09/2013 22:38

I've only read the last half a dozen posts but I think we're all now very obviously in the last stages. That feeling of being extremely fed up and not being able to believe that even with only a couple of weeks to go, our bodies still manage to throw little surprises our way!

Walking is getting difficult now between sore pelvis, hips and (as of tonight) back, plus I feel I need the toilet every 10 minutes just because the baby's pressing down so hard. Even though I'm only just 37 weeks today, I'm happy for her to make an appearance now!

HeffalumpTheFlump · 20/09/2013 22:43

Thanks for the replies about the muscles. I will ask the midwife at my 38 week appointment if it's something I should be worrying about or not.

Re breastfeeding, I'm going to try to go into it with a positive attitude, but I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself. I won't let it bring me down or ruin my experience of the first few weeks. If it works, it works, if not I will ff. I really hope I can make it work though. Good to know there will be some bfing experts here to talk to after baby is born!

Hope you all get a good nights sleep. Night :)

Flyer747 · 20/09/2013 22:47

I was in j Lewis last night Clapham wish i had looked at maternity wear now. I ordered it online so I presume it'll be here one day next week.

I went to some crappy ante natal class on Wednesday and the only useful piece of info the instructor gave us was that he doesn't touch the abdominal muscles for 3 months post labour or c section. As he said the end up a mess and need to go down naturally then after that go ahead and work them. Glad he told us this.

PseudoBadger · 20/09/2013 22:53

I am soooooo fed up. So uncomfortable - I don't remember being this uncomfortable last time! 37 weeks tomorrow. So swollen and just bleurgh.

OP posts:
Flyer747 · 20/09/2013 23:01

Do you think pregnancy is harder the older you are? I've no idea as a first timer. My mum was saying her pregnancy with my sister at 29 was easier than her pregnancy with me at 34....

PseudoBadger · 20/09/2013 23:05

I was 30 with DS, 33 now. Quite possibly! I am actually on the verge of tears, I think I must retain more water in pregnancy than any woman known to the history of the world. My calves are as huge as my thighs. My ankles have no bones. It makes my weight gain look awful (and I know I'll be judged by the doctor/anaesthestists at my section - but I swear half my weight gain is water (and BP related). Massive legs :(

OP posts:
Flyer747 · 20/09/2013 23:08

I must be retaining lots of water in my arse Grin so long as I'm back to pre pregnancy size by the time I have to put my uniform back on again, that's the main thing I'm bothered about.

PseudoBadger · 20/09/2013 23:13

I'll hold my hands up, my arse size is self inflicted :o
But not my calves and ankles :(

OP posts:
Flyer747 · 20/09/2013 23:14

Yes I think my arse size is self inflicted too...a healthy day of eating today. Victoria Sponge, Galaxy Choc and a Chinese take away Grin and I wonder why I've gained so much weight!

Shirehobbit · 20/09/2013 23:21

I stepped on the scales today. Mistake.
(see post earlier, about cherry bakewells)

Shirehobbit · 20/09/2013 23:24

See, I've eaten so much Cake I had to confess twice!

claphammama · 20/09/2013 23:42

lol. I was eating like a pig in the first trimester and a lot in the second but back to my normal pre-pregnancy appetite now... doesn't make any sense to me...

FeministInTraining · 20/09/2013 23:43

Just finished a lamb shish kebab and chips. I got it delivered Blush
DP's fault, he's left me home alone. Watching the midwives, Shock at the picture taking. There was flash and everything, I would be so pissed off! DP would probably faint if he got that close to the action anyway...
LOL @ the couple who thought their baby was a boy for the first 10 mins.

chickieno1 · 21/09/2013 04:20

Ate way too much dim sum at lunch! Still paying for it.......

Hope nelly and terrified are ok.

PseudoBadger · 21/09/2013 05:17

37 weeks today and in the last 24 hours I've gone from feeling pregnant to being so bloody tired, uncomfortable and sore that it's amazing!

OP posts:
Soupqueen · 21/09/2013 06:54

I don't have anything to compare it to, but at 37, I don't think I've found it too hard. Yes, I've been tired, suffered from insomnia, SPD, heartburn and acid reflux but overall I don't think I've been that bad and I've kind of enjoyed being pregnant. I think I'll actually miss it a bit!

I've not put on a huge amount of weight (yet! Maternity leave has so far involved lots of eating), 20 pounds at 36+5, but every excess pound has gone straight onto my arse. Put a dress on last night I hadn't worn before, bump looked great, arse needed its own post code Blush

Thanks for all the TENS machine advice. Definitely sounds like a maternity one is the way to go. If it can also be used for back pain, great, if not, tough! The cost of renting is almost as much as buying so as there is a chance it might be useful for DH and a tiny chance I might do this again (hopefully DH will be so besotted that he'll change his mind about having another), buying looks like the sensible option.

Soupqueen · 21/09/2013 06:55

pseudo, you've had such a rough time of it, I'm not surprised you're feeling like that!
