Hi to all, hope its been a good weekend and you're all cooking nicely.
Mabel1973 - can fully sympathise with the end of holiday feeling, DD is still asking to go to the beach every day.
I got food poisoning on Thursday night eating pork that was a bit far gone. Friday was an awful day I couldn't eat or drink just immobile on the sofa all day. Thank goodness it was MIL's day to have DD. Saturday was a little better I was completely drained though, but had to buy picnic stuff and go to a Proms concert in the evening. Had a great time in spite of everything and feel almost good today.
On a better note DD is settling really well still, although strangely she had a full blown tantrum at 3am when we wouldn't let her sleep with us. Half hour later she tried again and when I said not until morning she just said OK and went back to bed!
Finally, proud moment - went cold turkey with no nappies during the day on Sunday and we haven't had an accident in 4 days, even for shopping trips and out visiting friends. Biggest problem has been not finding out she's used the potty, cos she doesn't tell us, just goes. Find out when there,s half a roll of paper in toilet and she didn't quite hit target emptying the potty.
Anyway, hugs to all, have a good week.

Hey all.

We went to the seaside this weekend and DD loved the beach. Took loads of pics and figured that summer next year the baby won't want to sit out all day so making the most of it. She really enjoyed just digging and filling her little moulds up wuth sand.
I also, although I had sun creamed her didn't me and have been alittle burned but luckily not sore so feeling ok.

Feel tired today tho, but excited as no more work!!! So looking forward to a lazier week with just me and DD. Also have my first crafting crop on Sunday- so v. excited about that and been buying bits from ebay.

Visited DP's mum today too and DD usually hides in her front room rearranging the apples/pears etc in fruit bowl but today took a bite out of a pear which she usually never does. She came in a pleased as punch munching on this pear and clapped herself for eating it like a big girl. Luckily nannie saw the funny side. Although was glad something had occupied her as she has been a grot all day long! Dreading it really as niece has got the chicken pox and we have avoided her so far but obviously other ppl have had contact with her, can they be carriers??? Any other time I wouldn't be bothered but she has her MMR on Tuesday and don't want a v.ill child... would much prefer just a grouchy one. Well, actually would prefer a happy laid back one but DD will never be like that!!!

Also seems the bubba loves her as when she is on me he goes wild... she has taken to hugging my big fat tum and kisses him too. Has been her little party piece and been making everyone laugh. She has just realised too that trying to sing songs makes everyone laugh and gets her their undivided attention... bring on the baa baa black sheep, happy 'burp-day', and the tikkabilla jive... She is getting to really understand- as much as a nearly 2yr old canthat we are having a baby and it will 'wahhhhhh' and need 'la la luuuu!' (her impression of singing) and i'm glad really even tho I know it will be a huge shock to her system. Has anyone had a 2yr old and a new baby??? Any pointers...??? We have brought her a few bits from the bubba but unsure on how really it's going to affect her... (in every way!!!). Feeling very apprehensive about that now.

morning all,

Thanks for replying to my message tassis, in the end we got ds friend a domino run set. Ds really enjoyed himself he kept asking me to take him back all weekend.

Lysettes hope your lo stays put for a while yet amd that your bp behaves. I started getting my first stretch marks a couple of weeks ago, they are quite high up too grrr.

Calvemjoe I am extremely hormonal, I keep bursting out crying over the housework as I am finding it hard to do with the heat, spd etc dh bless him spent saturday doing upstairs for me.

Norms sorry to hear about the sickness

Awww congratulations on your dd being nappy free, ds used to go on the potty without telling us and then proceeded to try and empty it in the cloakroom - some off it used to get in there lol

Pol26 your dd sound a cutie

Hellkat hope all is well.

Well all shopping is done for the baby just milk to get nearer to the time, got all the baby stuff out at the weekend and was shocked with the amount of cot bedding I have got so I think I will be giving the grobags a miss as I can't justify getting one when I have such a large amount of bedding lol.

30 weeks yesterday

puppy · 10/07/2006 09:59

Forgot to ask if anybody has any cravings yet?

None here but made some caramel shortbread yesterday and its gorg, love the condensed milk thats in it yum yum

calvemjoe · 10/07/2006 11:26

Glad to hear I'm not the only one being emotional puppy.
I'm craving ice. Sat and ate a big 2 pint bucket of it on saturday night. Have been eating ice lollies and they haven't quite been hitting the spot so now I know why!

homemama · 10/07/2006 13:23

Sick, sick, sick. not much more to say today. Hope everyone else is ok.

pol26 · 10/07/2006 14:12

Yes I can join you with the emotinal wreck thing... seem to cry daily over even silly things. Luckily DP only has two weeks left at work (he is a teacher) and so then will be at home to help... or hinder!

Absolutely loving ice lollies (but think its more of a cool me down thing than a craving) and cherry bakewells!!! YUM, YUM!!!

pol26 · 10/07/2006 14:19

Anyone having pains??????

Have had the bottie pains and tummy pains and feeling as if i'm spliting in two pains... Wondering if it's just me???

mabel1973 · 10/07/2006 15:33

i'll join the emotional wreck club. I think I am suffering from post holiday depression.
Am in the process of making curtains for the babies room, which I have had to unpick once and my sewing machine keeps going manic, also I really can't see his room being ready in the next 8 weeks (it still needs to plastered!) It is all getting me down!
Pol those pains sound serious! Maybe just Braxton hicks or ligaments? I haven't had any pains, just feel ready to pop now and can't imagine getting any bigger!!!!

clairemow · 10/07/2006 19:06

so sorry about the sickness Norms and Homemama. It must be awful.

I'm with you all on the feeling blue front. Maybe it's a 30 -35 week thing. I feel exhausted, and yesterday burst into tears about 10 times for no apparent reason. And DH is on holiday this week, so it's meant to be relaxing and a great time for us and DS. And there I was moping about. Feel better today, we've been to Longleat for the day, and it was great. Saw lions and a tiger and rhino. All very exciting, and DS nearly did his nut laughing when a monkey ripped the cover for the water squirter off the car.. DH wasn't sure whether to be quite so amused...!!

Oh, and I'd also love any tips about how to deal with a 2 year old and a baby. One of my main concerns right now.... Aaarrrrggghh!!

mabel1973 · 10/07/2006 20:20

Claire -if you come up with any solutions about how to deal with a 2 year old (or in my case 21 months) and a baby - feel free to pass them on!!!!

Coriander73 · 10/07/2006 20:32

Hi everyone,

HM, sory sickness has returned...

Mabel, sounds fantastic! I'm very envious you got to take DS "surfing" too!!! DH has been on & on about wanting to go surfing as soon as we can with DD. We love it down there yet it seems at times as though we'll never make it back..least of all with two children

We're off for a week visiting family. Currently in Devon with my Aunt & Uncle, leaving tm to go up to Staffs to visit in-laws unitl Sunday. Once back at work I only have 3 more weeks to go so getting excited although have lots to leave sorted even though I'm finding it hard to be motivated at work!!!

Re pains etc, I had a bad day on Sat, so much so I called MW from Devon & got all emotional! Had had two days of strong BH & felt really odd. Coudn't put my finger on it but ended up taking parecetamol & sleeping most of the day but with what can only be described as dull aches...the type you get when your period is due etc. Of course at this point DH is getting frustrated & wants to drive us back home to Suffolk but it all calmed down & since then I've been fine....MW was lovely..but I did have a little panic inside thinking 30 weeks is too early, we haven't painted the spare room, DD isn't two until September & we need to have her birthday first, she's not potty trained, I'M JUST NOT READY!!!!!!!

Talking of hormones, bought DH a pack of knickers today with the view that I'm going to "train" in Aug once on M/L. She's showing all the right signs etc (we've finally had wees in the potty etc) & whilst I'm fully aware & appreciated that she may regress once we have the baby home etc just feel I should strike whilst iron is hot. Anyhow, showed her the knickers, she got all excited & put them on (she's so bloody independant it's getting quite hard to get her dressed & put her shoes on without being told "away Mummy"!!!) & then I got all emotional, burst into tears at how grown up she looked in them whilst my A, U & DH just tutted & said "get a grip"!!! She then came over to me & said "lift up Mummy" to see my knickers & laughed!..... Appyday, how old is your DD?

mabel1973 · 10/07/2006 20:55

Pol, Cori - Just a thought but I had dull aches likes period pains and also the odd stabbing pain a few weeks ago, I saw the midwife a couple of days later and she confirmed that the baby had moved from being transverse to head down (and ready for the off!). So maybe it's thats what your experiencing?
Cori - LOL at your DD in her knickers! I have resigned myself to the fact that DS is a long way off potty training yet and I will have 2 in nappies for a while.

pol26 · 10/07/2006 21:35

Feeling the same with the pains Cori!!! Have been on the verge of calling mw often but not yet. Two weeks on Wed ago baby moved from lying across to down... alittle uncomfortable but not like these pains at all. Was up most of last night with them and felt like a grouch today!!!

You are brave potty training your first... My DD will be 2 on the bubbas due date but not even contemplated thinking about it. A few ppl, mainly in-laws keep saying we should- well I should but I figure she will go back when bubba is here and I can't guarantee that i'll be able to give my full attention to her when bubba arrives, especially in the wee's and poo's... So just gonna wait a while until she is really ready. Same with our doodies (dummy) although she has naturally become less wanting of the doodie and only really wants it at night.

clairemow · 10/07/2006 22:22

Pol, stick to your guns re the potty training. We've had DS in pants for two whole days now (wow!!) - 5 accidents the first day, only 1 today, and we thought that was fantastic considering we went out all day... and the accident happened when he went to sleep in the car. Should put nappy on if I think sleep is likely... lesson learned!! But he's 2 and 2 months, and has been showing a big interest in it all for a few weeks, so we thought we'd have a go while DH is on holiday. I wouldn't bother until it's clear your dd is ready.

Hope everyone's pains go away. Look after yourself Cori. xx

HellKat · 11/07/2006 09:30

Hiya all.
Glad everyone else is experiencing pains so I'm not on my own anymore only joking, it can be so worrying.
Hm- You poor thing, I'm keeping my fingers crossed it does'nt stay for the remainder of this pg hun. You rest up.
Lysettes- So glad you managed to escape! Sending you low bp vibes hun.
Hiya everyone!!!!!!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Bella23 · 11/07/2006 10:07

Morning all

Sorry to hear that some of you are experiencing pains etc and weepiness. Nothing here, no weepiness but feeling a bit grouchy but I think that has a lot to do with heaving around all this weight!

Lysettes - cool you managed to escape the prison for an afternoon woohoo! Poor you stuck in there, well I hope its working and your BP is nice and low

Coriander - very jealous of you in Devon, lovely part of the world, wish I was there!

Celvemjoe- eating a 2 pint bucket of ice??!! very bizarre!

No cravings here really apart from my sweet tooth winning every day and making me have chocolate or cake - no wonder my arse is expanding!!

Well after this week just 4 more weeks and then no more work - can't wait! Its a bit scary as not intending to return so that will feel weird as never not worked for longer than a 2 week holiday!!

Hope you are all having a good week so far xx

Angeliz · 11/07/2006 12:06

Hi all.
Feeling very strangely emotional last night! Very od as ,like Hellkat (or is it KK?) i love giving Birth and am very excited about it but last night, i ate a big meal and couldn't breathe right. I suddenly felt all panicky about how enormous i feel and that it HAS to come out soon
Panic over today and am back to normal.
mabel, i had post holiday blues too, After an idylic week in Spain we came back to house upside down (we are getting the kitchen done), our dog had chewed my sisters house and i just couldn't stop crying! Hope you're feeling happier soon.

Well my baby is lying breech at present (am 32 weeks) so i hope he turns soon or they'll get all shaky about homebirth . I would too tbh, if it stays breech. DD2 was breech at 29 weeks though and turned in time. Also they think my iron levels are low at 103 but i said i'll improve my diet as i don't want to start iron tablets yet!! My midwife is an older lady this time and she's lovely. I doubt i'll have her at the Birth as it's always pot luck but she said she'd try. She said she had holidays when i was due but she'ss not going abroad. I told her it was incredibly slefish taking holidays when i'm due

mabel1973 · 11/07/2006 12:21

I am on iron at the mo and really not enjoying it. Did I read somewhere about special water that contains iron? or did I imagine it? I don't eat red meat so other then piles of watercress and spinach it is difficult to increase it in my diet.
Also has anyone got the linea nigra down their tummies? I had it with DS, but it hasn't happened this time so far, which I thought was a bit strange.

mandaz · 11/07/2006 12:42

Sorry some of you are feeling ill and having pains.

I had a lovely couple of days at the seaside. It was so nice just to get away and see some different scenery. I walked quite a lot and even managed a 30 minute boat trip without feeling quesy! Like a couple of people have said, I feel now like I'm ready for the home stretch. Bring it on!

I think I've also started a mini- craving! I'm not wanting to eat it all the time but I'm really into very cold watermelon. It's so refreshing too.

I see the mw tomorrow for my check and then I have to get booked into see the consultant for my next one. I don't know why but I feel quite nervous about going to see the consultant. I guess its just the whole hospital experience! At least it's a bit cooler now but still sunny.

Angeliz · 11/07/2006 12:51

mabel, drink fresh orange with every meal as it helps your body absorb the iron. I read alot last time about iron and how alot of midwives think levels are low when infact it's normal for them to drop.
Pupuce gave me a good link, i'll try to find it.
Do you know what your iron count was?

Coriander73 · 11/07/2006 13:18

Mabel, try Spatone!! I have already recommended it to Tassis last week it's been brilliant for me. It's water from the Welsh valleys with loads of natural iron, best taken with orange juice as that way it's better absorbed. Approx £6.95 a box from health food shops.......I'm on my second box now

clairemow · 11/07/2006 14:56

I don't have the linea nigra either this time, although did last time. Each one's different!

Re. aches and turning - it reminded me of last time, DS was breech from 28 weeks, and at 36 we had a scare when I thought my waters had broken (turned out it was just a wet car seat - by the time I realised though we were in the hospital.. long story, but amusing...) Anyway, i was contracting and they thought in the end it was him turning - so it could easily be that that's causing the pains.

Lysettes · 11/07/2006 21:09

no linea negra for me yet, just more stretch marks and more itching on my bump - hopefully a good sign that little one is growing and not just me growing!

also having pains and feeling v uncomfortable when i have to get up fron sitting or lying all across the bottom of the bump - again hoping that it's him growing. will find out at scan tomorrow

tomorrow is also magic 32 week mark that we were worried we wouldn't get to! bp is not benefitting from all your lovely thoughts and wishes ladies and is jumping around all over the place. I also look like the incredible swelling woman - not just my ankles, but my feet, my calves, my hands and my face! and it's warm again which I have not been wishing for!

am also craving bananas, although that may be to do with the acid indigestion i now seem to be an expert at, and they seem to neutralise it - gaviscon liquid makes me want to puke!

anyway, keep at it ladies and we'll all get there soon - am now panicking that giving birth either naturally or with a c-section is going to hurt - guess i should have thought of that earlier on!!!!!
