lysettes so sorry you're in hospital until baby comes. hope it's not too tedious and that you're well looked after. will they let you out much?

pol good idea to get your friend MNing, hope she gets lots of support here

liquidclocks I think I read something here about "flat head syndrome", might be worth searching archives or starting a new thread

Well despite the fact that it makes me even hotter, I've resorted to wearing my tubi-grip from the physio. Wearing it I managed to shop for about 4 hours yesterday and finally found shoes for a wedding next Sat. Same problem - I'm usually a 7, lots of 8s were too small...

Also collected a lovley glider chair and footstool (ebay bargain) yesterday. It's so comfy, I'd just like to move it out into the garden!

compo · 02/07/2006 16:52

All the best Lysettes xxxx

It's sooooooooooooo hot (moan moan) and dh has gone away this week so I'm coping with ds on my own - don't really feel like going out so have managed to throw him out into the garden instead

i dont quite know why in in here, but looking at lyssetes post, good luck!! i was at the same point when i had my ds1...nearly 7 years ago!

Angeliz · 02/07/2006 21:43

Lysettes, i do hope you're o.k and that all goes well. What a bummer being in Hospital but best place i guess! Will be keeping evrything crossed for you!

So sorry i'm never on here! We have been away and are now in the middle of getting the kitchen fitted. Have been without a proper kitchen for weeks now and i am depserate to have it done so i can start cooking properly again.

I had a right scare the other night. I woke up cramping, much the same as i did with dd2 (only that was her due dat). I panted through it and waited but it just was not budging. I went in to DP (we sleep seperately at the mo due to me co-sleeping with dd2 and his snoring) and we waited again. After about half an hour (which made it 45 minutes in total) we decided i better go in It's my 3rd baby and i knew that contractions didn't just go on and on and on like thsi. It was a constant cramp, at one point i was lying over the bed in pain.
Anyway, i went in by myslef in taxi (reluctant to wake family and scared of leaving dd2). Midwife got me straight on the monitor, checked by Doctor and after all that, nothing!
I have just put it down to exhaustion as i haven't stopped these last few weeks and carrying dd2 about too. I am feeling better now but still achey and have taken it as a awrning and am slowing down!

Hope you're all well and i msut catch up before we all start for real!

tassis · 03/07/2006 09:39

Angeliz, that sounds really scary. I'm so glad it came to nothing.

I got a letter from doc this morning saying that the blood I had taken 10 days showed I was anaemic and I have to go pick up a prescription for iron tablets. I hate taking iron as it really bungs me up but at least it explains why I've been feeling so tired (i've been sleeping most lunchtimes this week).

Forwarded my mum various links from the nappy threads and I think I may have persuaded her to knit and crochet me some wool wraps for my cloth nappies. They're so cute!!

puppy · 03/07/2006 09:58

Gosh lots to catch up

Bella Hope you had a great time in Paris.

Measured myself with loo roll - 9 pieces.

Pol26 I have bought the new baby book from usborne too for DS, he loves it. Would really reccomend it to those who already have children. I love scrapbooking when I have the chance . jealous of your spree on craft bits.

Welcome petrified and myrtle1

Hellkat, been thinking of you, hope all is well with you and your lo, congratulations on your lo being a girl

My mum has bought me the babiesrus version of the lindum day and night feeding system, the bottles are kept cool with a ice pack that you have to freeze each day.

Marls - chiristmas shopping! wish I was as organised as you lol, hope you have a good time at disneyland.

Coriander I start maternity leave on 31st july, i brought it forward due to my spd. only four weeks away, i mainly work termtime only anyway and have had to give maternity notice to one child and the parents were really good about it as they have family who love to look after him.

oh pol I hope you friend is ok, good idea referring her to mumsnet

Homemama sorry to hear the sickness is still about.

lysettes sorry to read your in hospital, hope you keep lo in there longer, take care of yourself.

Angeliz glad everything is ok, i'm waiting for my kitchen to be completed, I have had a long wait so far think its been about a year! lol DH is doing it himself and has been really busy with work all that eeds doing now is the floor and wall tiles and paint work yippee might actually have it done by xmas.

As for moi , had bloods done last monday, been to see physio and confirmed spd got a belt to wear and if gets worse might be on crutches, I agree it is hot spent yesterday in nighty on couch with fan on me and drunk plenty of water. Morning sickness still here when I get up early. thats about it really lol oh and stretchmarks have made an appearance along with the ones from last time I look like a tiger!

Ds has got his first party invite for brewers fayre on sat, its a boy in his group at nursery who will be turning 4, what sort of gift would be approriate?

Bella23 · 03/07/2006 10:04

Hello ladies
Am back after a week of being on holiday. Will take me a while to catch up on all the posts but..
Lysettes - poor you being in hospital - I hope they manage to bring your blood pressure down and you can get home. Will keep fingers crossed you keep cooking for many more weeks!

Angeliz - how scary for you! Thank god the pains went away. It must be frightening as any twinge or ache sends me into mad panic so pain like that would have terrified me!
Take it easy and get as much rest as you can

HOW HOT IS IT ??? Too hot for me, this extra passing is making venturing outside almost impossibe as I just wilt and get in a bad mood. Sympathies to everyone - cold baths are the way I am going. As soon as I feel myself getting too hot and bothered I just have to get in one - never mind the fact that I seem to sweating so much at the moment like a proper fat lass!!

Right off for a read of all your posts.........

HellKat · 03/07/2006 10:16

Morning all.
Lysettes- Wow poor you hun! Well you never know, you may not be the only one to have a baby in July, I may join you yet . After all, technically I'm due anytime lol.
Angeliz- You make sure you take it easy.

It's far too hot!!!!!!!!!!!! I mangaged about 2 hrs last night so definitely retiring back to bed to soon with the fan pointing on me. Got a lovely long walk tomorrow to the hospital to see the consultant (fingers crossed they don't admit me again, could'nt stand it), so hopefully they'll say everything's fine & no more infections (drinking cranberry juice by the bucket load to ward off uti's).
Hope everyone's coping aswell as can be expected in this heat, luckily it's supposed to cool down by Thursday.
Love & hugs to all.

Coriander73 · 03/07/2006 13:05

Tassis...don't buy the iron tablets try something called Spartone (all good health food stores approx £6.95, recommended by my midwife so all kosher). It's water from the Welsh valleys' (boyo) heavily ladern with natural iron. I too am suffering with anaemia this pg & refused the iron tablets as I have enough trouble going to the toilet & getting through huge amounts of germoloide cream thank you very much!! Anyhow, I've been taking it for 4 days now & it's helped a lot - make sure you mix two sachets into a glass of orange juice as the iron will be more easily absorbed.....& taste a bit better!

tassis · 03/07/2006 14:12

Cori, thanks for that. I'll see if I can get that in town tomorrow.

It's a mere 17 degrees in Central Scotland, cloudy and threatening to rain. Anyone want to send some sunshine our way?

pol26 · 03/07/2006 14:20

Hey all hot ladies!!!

Isn't it just tooooooo hot??? Managed to walk into town this morning and persuaded DD not to moan by filling her with treats. But I was so hot couldn't wait to get home.

The disney store have a good sale on at the mo tho and been buying bits in there for DD and our birthday pressie cupboard. We have heaps of birthdays in September and don't want to be either too knackered to be bothered to find anything or just had baby and too tired! There fairy dresses and peter pan dress ups are 1/2 price and some clothes too, cuddlies etc...

Puppy- We have a few books about new babies... another one I have brought is the something special which is really sweet if you see it about. DP thinks usbourne one is funny as mum called mrs.bunn - rather appropriately!

Have begun 'scrapping' baby and have made two pages with our scan photos on. Feeling chuffed and want to do more but by the time DD is in bed, can't be bothered to move, especially in this heat!

It's my last week with mindee- alittle sad but more pleased because I know now it's too much esp. in this heat. Looking forward to the last few weeks with DD and making the most of our time together.

Finally- YIKES Yesterday stood up alittle too quickly and had the worst pains ever... Like labour ones... the knitting needle up your bum feeling (sorry) and the tightening and back pains. It went on every fifteen mins from 4.15pm til 6pm. I was getting worried and DP was on verge of calling his mum when they just stopped. It really was a wake up call even tho I am only 29 weeks. Made me go into overdrive! Hence why I went to boots today- planning on trying to bf but brought four bottles just in case I went for tommy tippee this time (we had avent last time) as their teat is more like a nipple- maybe just a gimmick- but planning on bf and if I haven't any milk straight away will bottle first until milk in. I was given this option with DD by an older mw but was a first timer and indecisive, this time I feel, well hope i'll be more in tune with what will work/ not for us. Plus would love to breast feed for health benefits, and baby and plus no sterilising all the time!!! And being able to feed anytime anywhere without all the stuff and hastle. I hope

Anyone else having pains?

Coriander73 · 03/07/2006 14:22

17 degrees??! It's 30 degrees here in Suffolk today...I resorted to bringing in my fan from home to try & keep cool Let me know how you get on with the Spartone....it's made a huge difference & most importantly I'm still able to go to the toilet...

Coriander73 · 03/07/2006 14:25

Pol..tommy tippee?! It's a gimick girl..nowhere as good as the Avent ones...trust me

pol26 · 03/07/2006 14:27

How did I know i'd made the wrong choice... got totally sucked in, didn't I??? Oh well I still have the receipt and will take them back at weekend.

tassis · 03/07/2006 14:28

pol, please don't keep mentioning the heat I'm in jeans and a long sleeved top today. It's not sunny at all!!

We have the usborne New Baby book too, it's from their "first experiences" series. Love it. Another favourite is "There's a House inside my Mummy".

Good thinking re getting ahead with birthday presents. We have quite a few in September too...

Coriander73 · 03/07/2006 14:31

Pol...also, if you try & put them together the teat easily comes out of the ring....you may wonder how I know so much?!!!

pol26 · 03/07/2006 14:40

Ahh well glad you've told me before I take them from the boxes and play with them. Will take them back and stick with avent like last time. I just thought I was being clever

As for the hot weather- I hate being hot esp when preg- would happily have it chucking it down and a force ten gail outside rather than this.

Lysettes · 03/07/2006 16:39

hey everyone - thanks for all the great wishes! have managed to (naughtily ) sneak onto an unsecured wireless network as we have the laptop in the hospital so i can watch dvds - indiana jones mainly - harrison ford Mmmmmmm - sorry, carried away for a bit there

am not being allowed out at all now till lo is born, and after a dreadful night last night they have revised that to some time this week. they are more worried about the high b pressure on me and the risk of stroke, so i am even more drugged up now

they assure me that it's ok for the lo, although if you're supposed to keep away from everything but paracetamol in pregnancy, i do wonder sometimes how they can justify these mega strong drugs to be all ok and not affect the baby.....

maybe that's just me being a cynic!

if anyone fancies taking the sun and heat from west london they're more than welcome!

lol

Coriander73 · 03/07/2006 16:47

Thinking of you Lysettes...(Harrison Ford...??!!!!)

Bella23 · 03/07/2006 17:00

Lysettes - glad you have managed to pick up a network, glad you are still being naughty even under the difficult circumstances

Will be thinking of you this week............keep occupied with the films xx

compo · 03/07/2006 18:30

wow Lysettes - so you might have your lo by the end of the week? Good luck Really glad you can still keep in contact.
Well the heat gave me a migraine last night so this morning dh phoned up the nursery ds goes to on Fridays and managed to get him in today so I lay on the sofa and drank lots of water Feel much better now but really wish the heat wave would break - sorry Tassis

OP posts:
pol26 · 03/07/2006 19:37

Lysettes- those drugs are getting to you- Harrison Ford!!!
I do hope that you're ok and that you're not feeling to disheartened with it all and the heat.

Yes anyone is welcome to this sun in Essex too- it's driving me mad!

calvemjoe · 03/07/2006 20:22

Lysettes, Sending really strong bp lowering vibes to you. Hang on for as long as you can and I hope lo is ok. My friend had twins at 30 weeks 2 weeks ago and they are both fine and feeding well. Good luck and thinking about you x

liquidclocks · 04/07/2006 10:32

Tassis - Can we all come visit? It's too hot - not pleasant at all, I've been hiding in the cellar!

Compo - you poor thing, migraine and heat not good at all - hope you're feeling better - when it's hot like this sometimes I find wrapping and ice pack in a tea towel and using it as a pillow can be quite soothing.

Hope you and LO are ok today Lysettes - keep on with the naughtiness and stay in touch!

Pol - we had avent bottles for DS and they were no good for his mouth shape and gave him terrible wind. We ended up buying boots cheap and cheerful non-wide necked bottles and a big bag of those disposible teats you get in hospital which we did sterilise over and over - DS had no wind at all with these. I think it's what suits baby. Also I'm having pains too - regular contractions that run for half and hour to an hour and then go leavingme feeling a bit sore - weird! Been told to call delivery suite if they go on for more than an hour so would assume same advice for everyone at this stage as premature labour can be stopped but only if they act quickly enough.

Does anyone know if pregnacare can make you 'go the other way' - having the opposite problem to most of you I think

mandaz · 04/07/2006 12:14

It's not so warm today as it was yesterday. There's a nice breeze which is helping cool things down a bit. I think I experienced one of those Branston Hicks things yesterday. I was in town walking round and everything went all tight round my tummy area. It happened about 2-3 times then stopped. It was a really weird sensation but not painful at all.

Lysettes - just wanted to say I'm thinking about you and hope that everything is going ok for you.
