Congratulations callooh on the scan news.
So sorry to hear of your losses. After what you've been through you are definitely due some extra good luck. X

KoalaFace · 06/09/2013 07:16

Team Blue for Juliet and Callooh then! I wonder of it'll be a close 50/50 divide or if one team will have loads.

I'm so sorry to hear about your losses Callooh.

Bear your DH seem's like a star. You are doing well to be making it into work. When I was pg with DS and I was ill and fatigued I got signed off for 3 weeks! I think you're a hero.

Didn't have a sling with DS but now I'll have him and the new baby to look after think I'll get one. Like the look of the Caboo and Babasling. Will have to do some research.

vix206 · 06/09/2013 07:25

Welcome Callooh!

I'm also feeling blessed after a miscarriage at 7 weeks in March if this year. I am much more nervous/aware of potential problems this time round than I was with DS.

I used a babasling for a while with DS but found it fiddly and uncomfortable. It really hurt my shoulder. Settled on a moby wrap which I will use from day 1 with the new baby. Love love love it!!

KoalaFace · 06/09/2013 07:43

I think I'll take a look at the Moby Sling then Vix. I have loose joints so something that puts too much pressure on my shoulder may well pop it out the socket! Thanks for the heads up!

Milkandtwo · 06/09/2013 08:20

Folks - why does bump go suddenly rock hard sometimes? Anyone know?

KoalaFace · 06/09/2013 08:27

I think bump hardening is Braxton Hicks. You get them all the way through the pregnancy but I think most women only notice them towards the end. Is it painful or just like your bump feels harder?

I sympathise with those here after a MC - I had 3 consecutive MCs prior to this pregnancy, and for the first couple of months was kind of in denial about this pregnancy. Couldn't get excited and was expecting it to go the way of the last 3. It was only the horrendous sickness that prevented me from ignoring the pregnancy entirely. Previously I had buried my head in baby name books from the instant I had a BFP, this time round, reading about pregnancy, baby names, anything to do with it made my heart sink a bit and I just felt depressed. 2 scans on (and only 11 days away from my next one) I'm starting to believe it might stick.

Koala the Moby was great at spreading the weight evenly across shoulders back and hips without it digging in certain places (which it sometimes does with carriers with straps).

Having a fairly easy day today - I keep getting awful headaches - almost every day at the moment, and paracetamol doesn't really touch them. Yesterday was so bad, I picked DH up from work and went to bed at 5pm. Resurfaced after he'd fed the boys and put them to bed, ate a bowl of tomato soup with cheese on toast (my go-to comfort food), watched a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory, then went back to bed for the night! Still feel like I am chronically sleep deprived this morning! Confused

KoalaFace · 06/09/2013 08:52

SugarMiceInTheRain (great name btw) I was also scared to really believe everything will be okay but the pregnancy sickness, heartburn and fatigue have actually helped me to feel like everything is doing okay in there!

I've looked at the Moby and think its definitely the best option for me and my floppy joints! Thanks guys.

littlepinkfizz · 06/09/2013 10:46

Hi ladies and bumps!

Think I may have joined already a while back but have been off the radar for a couple of months due to severe hyperemisis and antenatal depression. Thank goodness I am on the mend now.it was a dreadful time..hell on earth. I lost over a stone and am only 6 stone 8 lbs. 15 + weeks now without a hint of a bump. Have had 2 small bleeds in last fortnight but reassured but Dr and scan showing a wriggling baby with a strong heartbeat. I hardly dare believe I will have a little baby this time.looking forward to getting to know you all. X

marzipanned · 06/09/2013 10:55

Callooh you poor thing - yes, you definitely deserve extra luck this time round. I wasn't even really aware of stillbirth (ignorant) until I came across a thread on count the kicks - it's safe to say it's now one of my biggest fears. You are very brave and I am sure that everything will go well for you this time Flowers

SugarMice so sorry about all your losses too. Pregnancy seems like a really simple thing until it actually happens - it's so fragile.

littlepinkfizz you really have my sympathy, I had what I thought was dreadful hyperemesis and I only lost half a stone, and was eleven to start with so not such a big deal! How utterly horrible. It is so debilitating. So glad that your baby seems to be doing just fine regardless. Which meds are you on? Are you able to eat and drink regularly now?

Champagne I hope you did call in and WFH, I agree with your DH!

tinypolkadot · 06/09/2013 11:51

So sorry to hear about your losses Callooh I can't imagine what you've been through Flowers

Hi littlepinkfizz I hope you're starting to feel better now, it sounds like you've had a really tough time lately.

I'm currently counting down the hours until I can go home. Hardly anyone in the office today, dull dull dull.

Bear how did it go at work? Have you given them your fit note yet?

Anyone noticed an increase in toilet trips? I certainly have - that respite from bladder pressure didn't last long!

tinypolkadot · 06/09/2013 11:55

Oh, and I'm loving this cooler weather! Just had to go and stand outside to enjoy it Grin

Littleen · 06/09/2013 11:58

winterflowers sorry about your other half, men are strange creatures at times. I do want to find out the gender, but we had a scan at 14 weeks and baby was adamant not even to give us a chance to see, so I worry baby might be awkward again :P

Grats to all those found out which team they're on! Smile

bear good to hear things are progressing, hopefully it'll all work out and you'll feel much better about everything!

welcome Callooh and so sorry to hear about your loss, will keep fingers crossed for you this time!

random question; last night I could not sleep, because whenever I slept on my left side, it felt like the bump (which still doesn't really show much) was just on that side? I mean, baby is supposed to be tiny still, but it feels like there is a heavy weight on just one side of my belly, higher up than where I thought baby is located anyway - right below belly button, and quite far to the side! Is this uterus or baby or just me being strange?! O.o

Champagnebubble I would just phone your maternity unit/scan ward. They'll tell you!

Oh boy am I feeling wobbly today. Emotionally not physically. Something happened at work this week which has put me under a huge amount of stress, which I can't talk about in RL (though I may have to eventually if my job disappears) and I'm so worried. I am struggling to keep my mind on other things.

Flowers to those of you still ill and equally those with work issues - this pregnancy lark isn't half difficult!

I've got 3 days left of free time to do this sodding dissertation and only another 4500 to go. Hoping I can polish off at least another 1000 today before DH treats me to a Chinese later.

OK today's random question - how often are you guys dtd now that you're in the 2nd trimester?

DH finally plucked up the courage last night (he's been scared of hurting bean until then Hmm) and I have to say it was.... so much more enjoyable for me iyswim? Blush according to my pregnancy book it's due to increased blood flow etc down there. Just wondering how often we can dtd without causing damage?! (sorry if tmi)!!

OP posts:
jazzcat28 · 06/09/2013 15:11

that's 4500 words and 1000 words by the way!

OP posts:
EeyoreIsh · 06/09/2013 15:17

We dtd ages ago (week 13). I bled. Midwife said to hold off dtd for a while. We haven't dtd since as we're both nervous of another bleed.

I might be getting a little frustrated now!

tinypolkadot · 06/09/2013 15:30

Once in this trimester, I can't say I'm able to relax enough to enjoy it fully so I doubt we'll be doing it that often. I'm always worried about it. I think some mucus plug came out last time Confused

I am however, and apologies if tmi, 'ahem' climaxing in my sleep quite often!! Shock

laura0007 · 06/09/2013 15:34

Shock Tiny!! Tell me how!!!!!!!!!!! Although if you do I will probably try and spend the rest of my pregnancy asleep Wink

tinypolkadot · 06/09/2013 15:46

Lol Laura I wish I knew. It's happened to me a few times before pregnancy and has certainly increased since.

I don't even know if it's physical or mental... but I think it might be physically happening as I woke up during one once.

I?m not even sure if I like it tbh, feel like I have no control! Still, there are worse things I suppose Grin

Littleen · 06/09/2013 16:17

I get the ehm climax during sleep too, several times a week, but wake up in pain afterwards, so I am really scared of sex now, because sometimes it hurts alot!

Littleen · 06/09/2013 16:18

oh oh - and I just got my doppler. heard a heartbeat at a specific spot where baby would be located, but it was about the same speed as my own heartbeat. Surely I wouldn't pick up my own heartbeat at just one spot near my pelvis?! Confused now!
