I'm addicted to semolina fufu and spicy okra soup funkky. It's been my comfort food since I was a young child and I'm not giving it up for any baby Grin.

I'd got to endure the long bus journey to go and visit my Mum and Gran again today on the other side of the city. It involves catching 2 buses now since they changed all the bloody routes. Youngest dd hates it too so her saying "Are we there yet" every 2 minutes doesn't help.

Thinking of Flyer too.

roofio87 · 01/09/2013 08:54

morning all. have read through and caught up but no idea what I wanted to say to anyone! just hope you're generally all doing well today.
my friends threw me the most amazing baby shower yesterday, I really was spoilt rotten. I might not have any friends with babies which is a shame but being the first to have one has also been so lovely. I got so many gifts for the little one and a gorgeous Skip Hop changing bag. my oldest friends had put together a hamper of the things for the baby and me and it is honestly incredible!! I feel very blessed!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 09:02

Glad you had a good time roofio. Hope you are feeling better today.

roofio87 · 01/09/2013 09:19

yes thank you my mouth seems to be much better today! Smile

moonblues · 01/09/2013 09:52

Hello everyone!

Glad to hear the housemove went smoothly funkky. Hope you enjoy your new house.

It's funny, I keep thinking everyone is at the same stage as me, whereas some people are 2 weeks ahead, which starts to make a big difference at this stage. :) It's strange to think we'll probably have August, September, October and November babies.

Hope you're doing ok flyer

pinkbuttons · 01/09/2013 09:56

Glad to hear you had such a good day roofio sounds lovely.

Sorry to hear about BP tarlia are you planning on getting checked today? How is DS? Mine has just started with a cold so think we may be following suit. steroid inhalers increased in preperation.
Also wanted to sympathise with all those with older DCs being hard work. My DS has been very very emotional the past week. not sure of its due to him sensing change or just an age thing at 2.7. Glad were not the only ones struggling. We use the naughty step which works for us as gives him a chance to calm down, but he has been on twice before 7:30 this weekConfused
Sorry to hear about the house nat just have to trust that everything happens for a reason and would have been awful moving into somewhere not lovely at 38weeks. sending hugs though.
Hope all is ok with flyer x
Cant believe its September! Not long ladies!!Grin

claphammama · 01/09/2013 10:24

Hi girls. A hectic weekend here so can't catch up properly but just wanted to say - happy September!

And belated happy birthday Caz! hope you had a lovely day?

And good to see you back feminist and funkky. funkky can't believe you are already 36+3... I'm only 32+5 - quite big gaps between some of us indeed

For all of you having problems with older children / toddlers - we had friends visiting for the day yesterday with their 3 children and DS was a nightmare... a real devil child... I almost had a breakdown last night and took it out on DP a bit...

re: food, I'm not planning to change my diet. I didn't with DS and it was OK. My diet is mainly Italian and Indian - tons of chili, garlic, onion and other strong stuff. I also read that it doesn't matter as they get used to flavours and spices through amniotic fluid.

Taking DP out for dinner tonight. It's his birthday on Tuesday but easier and nicer to go out today

claphammama · 01/09/2013 10:24

and sorry about your BP tarlia... must be worrying and hope you are OK... hope the baby can stay in for at least a couple more weeks. X

Umlauf · 01/09/2013 10:56

Hello feminist nice to see you back! I know what you mean about the thread moving so quickly, I am sure we are the chattiest antenatal group by far. I'm finding it much easier to keep up now I'm on maternity leave and don't have anyone else to look after. Urgh the stretchmarks. I have the Palmers stuff too and have only just started using is too late! but am being quite relaxed. I was really upset about it at first, as it represents total loss of control over my body! But I'm fine now Smile

I too am wondering where flyer is - come back! stalkers!

Really sorry to hear about the houses nat and hayle it must be really disappointing especially as you have been excited about viewings. nat I think you should go to the event and pay the little extra, you deserve a treat very much!

I woke up this morning thinking "omg my baby is coming this month!!" Due on 30th. But he's totally not, I am convinced and am happy to put money on his arrival at the last possible minute, at 42 weeks, thus stopping us from being able to get him a passport in time for xmas, little bugger!

DH painting the nursery at the moment. He is very annoyed as it was white and I chose the palest of pale grey paints, and he doesn't find it worth the hassle! Men just don't get it do they?! in fact, he's actually pretty rubbish at painting how hard can it be?! so I'm going to go and step in with an offer to ´help´ I think!

GTbaby · 01/09/2013 11:42

Um I didn't realise we ate due date buddies. Or maybe and quite possibly it's been pointed out and I've forgotten. Lol that happens alot even when not preg. My sis has told me many times "yes I know you told me ages ago" when I say "oh I just found out xyz".

Any way. Planning on a chilled out day. Ds1 was up at 3. Very unusual for him. Then dh woke me coming to bed from a night out. Grrr. But he redeemed himself by getting up early with ds and doing the morning with him n they are now both having a nap Grin.

Warlin · 01/09/2013 11:46

clapham its dh's bday on Tuesday too! We are going out for a nice lunch then as ds will be in nursery and I'm off. Not doing presents this year though.

I hope flyer is ok too.

A bit pissed off with dh as he has had 2 lie ins, yesterday and today. Ds wakens at 6 and dh just rolls over and goes back to sleep. I then have to play with him for 3 hours, give him breakfast, put him down for a nap and go out with the dog. Just back and dh is in the shower. I told him its not fair as I do every day and he said he knows, he's just soooo tired (slap). He is good and helpful when he's up but bloody hell it's driving me nuts. Rant over!

Hope everyone has a good Sunday

JellyCurls · 01/09/2013 11:51

GT am due on 30th too, question to you and Umlauf have either of your bumps dropped yet? Mine is sitting so low these past two days (below my belly button almost)

Umlauf · 01/09/2013 11:55

I don't think it has jelly but I wouldn´t know how to tell. It doesn't feel very big though, I was imagining I'd be much larger at this stage in the pregnancy, and on the mumsnet guide it says that a smaller bump is when its dropped so I don't know...

Happy birthday to caz for yesterday!! xx

TheFalconsmistress · 01/09/2013 12:56

36 weeks today! I was up with the runs and vomiting at 4.30am :(

ananikifo · 01/09/2013 13:08

caz I hope you had a nice birthday!

I do hope flyer is ok.

warlin a couple of my friend have posted one of those ecards on fb that says "they shouldn't call it sleeping like a baby. They should call it sleeping like a husband." I can see that being so true in our family too.

I can't believe that some you are due this month! I have more than 7 weeks left so it still hardly feels real.

And I'm slowly coming to the realisation that from now on the discomforts will build and continue. I keep expecting a good night's sleep to cure everything but I don't think that's realistic anymore. I get tired or sore more and more easily. I told my mom and she said this is what it's like getting old. I think that's code for stop moaning! Grin

ananikifo · 01/09/2013 13:12

Oh no falcon you've really had a hard time. I hope you can get some rest and feel better.

TheFalconsmistress · 01/09/2013 13:22

Thanks annanikifo dh got up with ds and let me lay in he is making me a fry up atm so not all bad I'm just looking forward to not being pregnant!

Haylebop12 · 01/09/2013 14:01

Your missing a trick here ladies... My dh didn't get a lie in cyz he was in work for 8am Grin I do get annoyed however if he wakes dd whilst getting ready!

I'm 34 weeks today and reckon baby is further down for sure. Where he sticks his bum out is around an inch lower then two weeks ago and the pressure down below the last two days has been really uncomfortable. I see the midwife a week Friday and I'm expecting her to say he's around 2/5 or 3/5 engaged. I think dd was around 4/5 at 36 weeks iirc.

Sorry your feeling so rubbish falcon but the end is definitely in sight!

flyer if your lurking I hope everything is ok. Hugs.

Wickedgirl · 01/09/2013 14:47

Falcon.......I hope you're ok?

Nat........ First babies generally engage much earlier than subsequent babies. Sometimes subsequent babies don't engage until labour so don't worry if the baby is still floating around for a few weeks longer.

When I had my checkup on Thursday, I got told that the baby is head down and in the perfect position for birth but that it may be still move around lots of will probable not stay head down

GTbaby · 01/09/2013 14:49

Jelly I'm still in the middle. Lots of kicks and movement just below ribs.

Fled to my mums. Laying on her couch as she sits with lo on the grass letting him have nappy free time Grin he has got nappy rash for first time Hmm not bad at 10months.
Dh was watching footy n couldn't cope with yelling at tv. Lol. Dad is watching too. But is quieter lol

legallyblond · 01/09/2013 15:09

Wicked that's right re second babies. I have a (v elderly now - she's 80!) friend who was principal of the Royal Coll of Midwifery for 20 years (they made her a "dame" for her contribution to the profession Grin) and she told me this just last week! She used to put in the syllabus that you could get engagement right up until active labour with subsequent babies...

Poor you Falcon....

Tarlia - if you haven't already, I think it might be time to go back in if no drop in bp....

I meant to say, today is my major goal.... Reached!!! Can't believe I've come this far after thinking they'd arrive at 24 weeks!! 1st Sept, 36+1.... Hurrah!!!

TheFalconsmistress · 01/09/2013 15:10

Just for anyone who may be experiencing the same problem with runs and vomiting a few times a week, I called midwife she says it's indeed the increase in hormones as your body is getting ready for labour not fun but not a worry. As for movements as long as you're getting 10 a day also not to worry hth

OrangeBlossom2 · 01/09/2013 15:11

Well done legally. Do they count as full term now?

TheFalconsmistress · 01/09/2013 15:12

X post yeyy legally :) not long for you now!

legallyblond · 01/09/2013 15:12

Oh and Hayley... Same here re DH! I work(ed) every week day, so he'd get up for DD and he works sat and sun mornings from 8.30 coaching sport, and I'm up with DD.... So neither of us ever, ever gets to stay in bed beyond 7am... Sigh. Actually, I haven't had a lie in since DD was born Grin
