Sorry, forgot to wish hayle a happy birthday WineThanks

Umlauf · 29/08/2013 18:06

Ah orange you posted on my thread!! Yay!! Grin

pinkforboys the Aussies sound much more chilled! We have to be married for me to be his "dependent" and get the healthcare, but tbh, if we were already divorced, WHY on earth would I be here, 8months pregnant, unemployed, just for the sake of free healthcare?!?! I have a sneaky suspiscion the Spanish govt want to make it really really hard for foreigners to get what they're entitled to, hence the paperwork. There was a story on bbc news a while back about Spanish hospitals charging uk citizens for care even though they were covered by their ehic cards. The country is in a poor state and it is, of course, the fault of the immigrants!

I can't keep up now im on Mat leave. Sister has taken ds out for the afternoon and it has taken my all that to catch up.

Congrats to the placenta gang, glad they are behaving for you.

Sorry to hear about the dp problems. Dp and I split for 4 months when ds was 2 months old due to an emotional affair. Good news is that I coped just fine on my own, and after a lot of work dp and I are stronger than ever - so whatever happens you ladies will be fine xx.

Going to London zoo tomorrow - looking forward to it for ds, but dreading a day on my feet. 35 + 5 today, kanckered, and not organised. I have nothing for hospital bag. Sister, bill and niece have been here since Friday, sis in law and family were here the week before, and going to parents this weekend. I know I will miss thehelp with.ds when we are on our own, but god I wantthe house back and some time on my own.

Umlauf · 29/08/2013 18:08

Haha pink when people say they don't like the name, I've been saying, in a really innocent voice, "well the alternative we were thinking of is Lucifer, it's a cross between my brother Christopher's name and my sister Lucy's, I think it really honours my family!"

And then they back off.

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/08/2013 18:19

Haha umlauf that is a great response! I love it!

pinkbuttons · 29/08/2013 18:37

haha umlauf, sorry your havind a hard time getting what your entitled to, sounds like harf work. I darent look at your baby names thread as my DS is Rory Smile but I do love Bertie and can imagine woild be difficult to change now if you already have it in your head, I feel bonded to baby and think of her already by her name.
Glad your DS was happy tarlia doesnt take much does it, am sure hell enjoy being spoilt by Daddy for the night.
Sensing hugs tucking my DS was Jan 2011 and have only left him for one night on my hen do, DH is taking him to the rugby next weekend and am going to miss him even though is meant to be a nice treat for me. Hope you manage to do something nice for yourself and get a proper rest.

JellyCurls · 29/08/2013 18:48

tucking my ds was also a Jan 11 baby, wondering if we maybe met at AMU last time and will maybe meet again???

What is your due date?

Shootingstarsandcomets · 29/08/2013 18:55

Ds was 7lb6oz tarlia and he arrived at jyst over 36 weeks! Am hoping this one is more normal sized! According to my growth chart if we carry on growing at this rate baby will be 8lbs ish which is fine I think.
umlauf I love Bertie, it's on our names list too. I wouldn't actually listen to anyone else, he's your son you name him what you like. Ds has an unusual name but we live it and it suits him so I don't care if people don't like it. My father hated it to start with but 12 months in he's come round!

Sanjifair · 29/08/2013 20:02

Sorry to hear about the relationship issues pink and flyer. I read the thread last night and then woke up at 2:30 last night worrying about all that sort of stuff, not because I think my DH is up to something but more that we haven't DTD in months due to me being 'occupied' as he puts it, and I just feel like an unattractive hippo at the moment. Feeling rather insecure. Didnt get back to sleep at all. Told him how I was feeling this morning, and he thought I was being silly, but brought me home a bunch of red roses this evening. What a sweetie, really cheered me up.

Congrats to all who finished for mat leave today, I have actually put my leaving date back by 10 days as I can carry over the holiday i was going to use for it and use it for a phased return.

Quite a few of us on this thread have experienced discrimination since announcing pregnancy clapham, I am glad that minister is speaking out about it. It is disgraceful in this day and age.

tarlia hope it's a brief spell in hospital for you.

umlauf that health system seems crazy, hope you sort it, how stressful! Rory is on my list, but if you have been calling the baby Bertie all along, I think you should stick with it.

Sanjifair · 29/08/2013 20:03

Oh and happy birthday hayle!

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/08/2013 20:16

Aww what a sweetie sanji!

Slippysnow · 29/08/2013 20:36

Hi all,
tarlia I hope your monitoring isn't too dull or stressful for you. Your p

Slippysnow · 29/08/2013 20:43

Hi all,
tarlia I hope your monitoring isn't too dull or stressful for you. I'm sorry to hear your son suffers with asthma, I look after a lil 3 yr old who suffers very badly too - treating it whilst they are so busy and distracted playing is hard work too.

umlauf it looks like you've got off lightly on the name thread it's dangerous territory - very brave. But I like both choices, must be hard to readjust to a name after being set- make sure you don't regret your final decision. And sucks about the health care in Spain.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of the baby's head being 4/5 palpable at 32 weeks - the midwife wasn't concerned, she said he can pop it in and out whenever he fancies. It just seems quite early to be that engaged, does it mean he's likely to become before or on the due date (or is that wishful thinking) also dp was a month prem. is there any genetics to this?

legallyblond · 29/08/2013 20:49

Skippy, 4/5 palpable is only 1/5 engaged. They do it the other way round iyswim... So 4/5 on your notes means only a bit engaged. 1/5 means v engaged! For what it's worth, DD was 1/5 (ie almost fully engaged!) from 34 weeks, which is when she flipped to head down from transverse).... I was induced at 42 weeks and she was almost fully engaged for that whole 8 weeks... Lots of pressure down there...!

Shootingstarsandcomets · 29/08/2013 20:51

slippy it means nothing that the babys head is engaged, some babies don't engage until labour starts others get themselves ready early. I wouldn't worry. Also am pretty sure that 4/5 palpable means she can still feel 4/5 of the head so only 1/5 engaged.
Any genetics relating to pregnancy will come from your side so if you were prem then possibly you may deliver earlier but unlikely that dp will have any effect. Also would depend on reason for prematurity. Hope that eases your worries.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 29/08/2013 20:53

X post legally!

Natalieand · 29/08/2013 20:55

tuckingfits · 29/08/2013 21:00

How funny jellycurls! I doubt I was in the same room as you - the lady opposite had an over 11lb-er,the lady next to me had a girl as dc2,I have kept in touch with one lady who was whisked off to a private room when her baby boy was taken to neonatal unit because we have a mutual friend - discovered after we left & she was in having another baby about 4 months ago,and her replacement lady kept buggering off for fag breaks leaving her newborn alone. Don't imagine you fit any of those! And I didn't meet anyone else... DS born 29th & we were discharged 2nd Feb.

I'm due 13th but am focussing on any time after 23rd Sept as a good date!! I've had enough,I can't walk any distance, house work kills me,feel hugely enormous & uncomfortable... Moan moan moan. If I don't go naturally I have an elcs booked for 23rd October.

Oh,one thing I meant to say to you specifically is that I was told last night that in NA midwives offer a sweep from 40+5. I know you had mentioned a later date & thought I'd tell you in the hope that should you need one you can push for it earlier. My consultant has offered me one at 38+4 to try & help things along,am dubious at this point as research shows it is totally ineffective before 40+5... Will see just how desperate I am at the time!!

Thanks for the hugs pink, much needed. Peace & quiet may be over-rated,although am sure it'll do me good. I have booked a haircut at my favourite hairdresser tomorrow in Glasgow & have a drinks party to go to for a couple of hours on Saturday as my friend is leaving the country for a couple of years with no chance of returning before summer 2015. I am also hoping to get to jobcentre tomorrow to apply for mat allowance now that my employers have finally sent me the form I asked for in JUNE!! Useless.

Slippysnow · 29/08/2013 21:01

Thank you oh wise ones! That's very helpful, I love this thread.

tuckingfits · 29/08/2013 21:07

They also owe me over 40 hours annual leave but are ignoring that. Much the same as they ignored my letter telling them about my pregnancy & asking for the form I have to have to apply for mat allowance. The number of phone calls & emails chasing them up is dreadful but there's no way I am letting them off with not paying me for holiday I have accrued. I hate them. Like I need this extra stress right now.

PseudoBadger · 29/08/2013 21:14

My DS was also born late Jan 2011! We'll have to have a joint thread birthday party :o

Well my last day was very busy but enjoyable. Glad to be gone though and not having to walk the dogs at 5am or get on a busy tube for a year.

Tarlia I meant to post in sympathy yesterday when you said you were feeling bad, sorry. Glad they are checking you but sorry you're away from your DS :(

JellyCurls · 29/08/2013 21:40

tucking I was out by 25th and had a room for two but was only one in it till about an hour before I left. My mw says she won't give me a sweep as they don't work so will need to either try befriend a mw, convince my mw that a sweep will work or try and get DH to google membrane sweeps and leave my shame and modesty at the bedroom door Blush

tuckingfits · 29/08/2013 21:47

Well,we were pretty close to possibly, potentially meeting!! Apparently it's now policy about the sweeps so perhaps your mw has gone rogue...

Glad you're done pseudo. 5am dog walking is mega dedication!

tuckingfits · 29/08/2013 21:51

jelly if you are offered a sweep by Beth, turn her down! She told me (once she had started) that she was rubbish at them because her fingers are too short & stabby stubby. Not the most pleasant experience of my life. Times two. Male registrar was much more effective. Reckon your husband is a better bet...

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/08/2013 22:15

Eek really? Do they put their fingers inside your cervix? Not sure I fancy DH doing that!
