sounds stressful bridget... who was commenting on your parenting? your family?

and sounds like you had a lovely last day roofio

warlin I'm also dreading the last day / false team lunch etc... and I've already brought my ML forward by two weeks. Originally was supposed to finish on 27th September but couldn't face it so brought it forward and now finishing on 13th. (Friday the 13th :-) I will be only 34+3 on my last day so can't really justify leaving earlier. Plus 2 weeks of pay is a lot of money and, not coming back, I'm trying to get as much as I can now... the first 2.5 weeks will be my remaining holiday though.

By the way, have you seen this article ladies? Not sure how much things will change in the near future but it's always good to see this topic on the agenda... The Telegraph

Tarlia · 29/08/2013 13:47

Hope those of you stuck on the loo today are ok and not in labour or having a nasty bug.

Shame they are all not closer, clapham. Would have been nice to have a pre made mummy circle.

So I've been admitted for 24 hour monitoring :( Scan showed baby is just over 2kg so pretty much average with a just slightly bigger than average tummy. The worst of this is that early this morning DS woke up with the startings of his asthmatic bronchitis so may end up in here too on the children's ward for his usual nebulisation. My first night away from him ever too, so feeling rather emo :(

Warlin · 29/08/2013 13:56

roofio very jealous...just had my leaving lunch, got given champagne (bit premature I thought!!) but no offer to leave early :( Mmm, I wonder what is an acceptable time to leave...I'm thinking 4?

bridget that sounds stressful and ignore your parent's comments....all kids play up every now and again. They should be supporting, not judging

textbook · 29/08/2013 13:58

Happy birthday Hayle - hope you have a lovely day x

textbook · 29/08/2013 14:00

Tarlia sorry to hear you've been admitted, hope all is well. My dd has asthma so I understand your worry re ds Sad hope he is doing ok.

pinkbuttons · 29/08/2013 14:03

Sounds like a lovely last day roofio Smile
Congratulations to all starting maternity leave and sorry to all those feeling ill.
Im so sorry your still feeling awful tarlia what are they looking out for in the next 24 hrs? glad baby is a good size. Sorry to hear about your DS as well, hope he manages to fight it off soon and stays out of hospital this time. xx

xuntitledx · 29/08/2013 14:31

Another week for me until my maternity leave!

So busy at work at the moment finishing everything off and arranging to hand things over - it's making me feel quite sad really as until now, work has been my "thing"...strange to think that my priorities are going to be changing completely!

Wickedgirl · 29/08/2013 15:01

Tarlia........I hope everything is ok for you and your son.

Happy birthday Hayle.

I have just returned from my 34 week check. All fine. Heart beat was 138. My bp is 129/67 and fundal height measuring 35.5cm.

Next appointment in 2 weeks at the birth centre.

rubytwosday · 29/08/2013 15:07

Like the other teacher types, I am going back to work tomorrow after a lovely 6 weeks off! Only got 3 weeks until maternity leave and the lady doing my maternity cover is starting straight away so will just be supporting her, doing a bit of cover, some admin and supporting the staff who are taking over my tlr (responsibilities). Clapham, the telegraph article seems to ring true with what I have heard from friends. I am hoping to only go back 4 days a week but not sure management will support this or let me keep my extra responsibilities if I do not work full time. That would mean a pretty significant pay cut so quite likely I'll have to go back full time. Tarlia, hope you and DS are better soon and hope everyone suffering with other ailments are better very soon.

favellio · 29/08/2013 15:08

Another week at work for me too. Last day is 6th sept. I can't wait now. The days are getting harder and harder. Especially with SPD keeping me awake half the night Hmm

rubytwosday · 29/08/2013 15:08

And happy birthday Hayle!

legallyblond · 29/08/2013 15:30

So sorry Tarlia - is it "just" monitoring or is there talk of whipping them out soon now? Is if a full eclamptic attac do you think or us it just the PE creeping on...? Is your DP with your son - what an extra worry...

tuckingfits · 29/08/2013 15:46

Sorry to hear you're away from your poorly DS Tarlia & unwell yourself. Not nice.

I am a mess today as DP has taken our son a 5.5hr drive away to visit his mother. I'm not going because I haven't been keeping very well & can't face the drive, the visit,or the distance to medical care if needed. This is the first time I have not slept in the same house as DS since he was born at the end of Jan 2011. And he is away for 3 nights. I have cried. I'm going to try not to cry again, but I expect I will! It's not even as if I can gut the house or do anything that needs to be done due to this stupid PGP.

Will stop moaning now because I know there are a lot of you feeling worse than me right now!

Happy birthday Hayle & happy maternity leave to those starting this week.

cazboldy · 29/08/2013 16:11

right - finally had a chance to catch up!

thanks for all the chat about gbs yesterday.... my best friend had it and her eldest LO was infected and was v. poorly for a few days.

If you had it, but were likely to have a quick labour what would happen then? because Im sure she needed antibiotics for about 6 hours or so before her 2nd ds was born. My longest labour was 6 hours from first twinge to baby being born, so not sure what would happen.

I have never been tested before, wondering if I should?

Sorry to hear about the ladies having problems with dh/p's - I am lucky that the only ladies that ever give my dh the eye are those of the hooved and black and white variety! Grin

Happy Birthday Hayle Flowers Cake - It's mine on Saturday.

I have my last day at work next weds.

Tarlia sorry to hear you are in hosp, and hope your ds is much better soon xx

Shootingstarsandcomets · 29/08/2013 17:10

Hope your ds is better soon tarlia. How is the monitoring going.
I've just had my growth scan and baby is already 4lb4oz which is fine apparently, baby is head down and all looking good Grin. Next scan is in 4 weeks when I'll be 37 weeks - eeeek! My consultant however is now on holiday for 4 weeks so hoping I don't go into labour early.....

pinkbuttons · 29/08/2013 17:14

I know how you feel shooting I dont have mw appt for 4 weeks now as have consultant in 2. Got my first "obviously if baby comes before then Ill visit you at home..." eek!

ananikifo · 29/08/2013 17:33

Happy birthday Hayle!

tarlia I hope you, baby, and ds are ok.

caz I think it sounds like we should all be tested for group b strep. It's really annoying there's no screening programme for it and the test costs money.

I'm happy that maternity rights are on the agenda for the next election. I think subsidised childcare, subsidised to the point where it's actually affordable, needs to be a major part of this discussion. A lot of us wouldn't be requesting part time working if it was actually profitable for us to work with children in childcare.

Tonight we're going to rest and watch tv and sleep, and I am so excited!

Umlauf · 29/08/2013 17:33

Hello! Sorry to hear you're in hospital tarlia what are they monitoring you for? Did you have symptoms?

Happy birthday hayle what are you doing today to celebrate??!

I've had an awful day :-( spent 5 hours in various offices trying to get my healthcare sorted now I'm not working, I am only entitled to healthcare in Spain as a dependant of DH. They need proof we are married, we gave our marriage certificate, but apparently it's not enough because we could have gotten divorced since the wedding a year ago. So they want us to go to Madrid to get a certificate from the British embassy which proves we are not divorced (of course such a thing doesn't bloody well exist and the British embassy are being useless about it all!) So I'm not actually entitled to healthcare here (they have to treat me when I give birth as its a human right or something but I'm worried about the vaccinations, postnatal stuff etc).

Secondly, DH has done a u turn on the baby name and wants to call him Rory. I like Rory but have gotten used to Bertie. I've started a thread in baby names here and am now dead nervous about the replies!! What do you all think?

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/08/2013 17:42

All this chat of maternity leave starting seems very distant as I am just gearing up to go back in to work on Tuesday until 4th October. Not dreading it too much as I won't have a class of my own and I am excited to actualy be able to do some of the useful things I never have time to do well. Went in just for the afternoon today and everyone who saw me said I was huge, that does tend to happen with 5 weeks of baby growing Hmm

How is it going Tarlia? What will they do after 24 hours? What a horrible coincidence that your son is ill at the same time. Poor little thing seems to be having a hard time of it this year. Reading through my MILs note book she kept about DH as a child (pfb!) he was in and out of gp and hospital reguarly with asthma/ chest infections/ pneumonia when he was little. I hope your DS grows out of it like my DH has.

Dropped off a new urine sample and haven't had a call from the drs to say there is a problem so presuming the sugar in my urine was a one off yesterday.

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/08/2013 17:53

Umlauf I share your nervousness about branching out to the rest of mumsnet. One reason not to is you would have to change his passport you have already ordered! Maybe give DH some time to think about Rory, he may go back to preferring Bertie after you both liked it for so long. Would you use it if DS was not red haired? I. Think your point about people not being able to say it is an important one.

Pinkforboys · 29/08/2013 17:54

Happy Birthday, Hayle.
Hope all goes well, Tarlia- wouldn't it be great if they'd allow you to be monitored alongside your DS?

Umlauf- would they accept a statement from friends that you are in a steady stable relationship with your DH? That's what the Aussie Immigration require- though friends need to be Aus citizens. THe Spanish can be a little obtuse sometimes...

You guys have me in prep mode- I've got a kilo of mince on the stove to make into who-knows-what for the freezer. I wouldn't be nearly as organised without you all.

Orange- i had similar comments today as I saw some school-mums I haven't seen since end of term. Yup- pg tummies do have a tendency to grow over 6 weeks....

Tarlia · 29/08/2013 17:56

Thanks ladies. DS and DP have been to visit as DS was so confused I wasn't at home, as although he goes out everyday, he is so used to me resting these days. He went home happily with James tank engine (which arrived in the post today so opened at the hospital) to show him Thomas, Percy and the others.

tucking I know how you are feeling this afternoon :( hopefully our boys won't notice or care as much as their mummy's. DS was feb 2011.

legally I have pre eclampsia, this monitoring is to see if we should up the medication that I'm already on to try and control it. I'll hear further plan tomorrow from the Dr when we see what my bp and bloods say.

Caz if you do not manage to get the full does of antibiotics then I believe the baby has to have its own dose along with the usual GBS monitoring.

Thank you orange it's nice to hear your DH grew out of it. They say he will, I just hope that day comes sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed with your urine/sugar level. Had you had something really sugary right before the sample yesterday?

Fab weight, shooting! How big was DS?

Congrats to those starting maternity leave today. D-day is getting close now!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 29/08/2013 17:59

No but did the sample just after lunch Tarlia so was probably just that.
I hope you get a good result tomorrow.

Tarlia · 29/08/2013 18:04

Umla sorry, missed your post. How awful that they are treating you this way over your healthcare so late! Why has it taken them so long to decide you need this stupid form? Surely there is something that the British embassy can do to help you, this must have happened to other dependents.

Pinkforboys · 29/08/2013 18:04

Ps- Umlauf, I think Bertie is lovely. I haven't heard it in a long time.
My worry is the more you ask around the higher the risk of someone coming up with a passionate 'I hate that name' cos they knew a horrid 'whoever' once. (that's why I haven't even voiced the name I really want for DD yet!! I think I need to get drunk to be brave enough Hmm)
I wish you luck...!
