Well, here's hoping!

Poppy954 · 02/09/2013 22:27

Laura , I've got one in my bikini but might be kind and get another one in clothes!

Sassy20 · 03/09/2013 06:38

Morning all - some advice needed please. Tmi warning!

Last night I had some bleeding - it was basically darkish colour mixed in with mucus but a bit stringy as well. I haven't had any bleeding this pregnancy but had it in and off with my dd. it totally freaked me out but not sure what to do. Any advice? X

rueyrichardson · 03/09/2013 07:17

Morning Sassy. Didn't want to read and run. I would give your EPI a ring and speak to a MW when they open. Take good care of yourself, it's probably nothing, as long as it's not fresh red blood x

rueyrichardson · 03/09/2013 07:18

I meant to say EPU x

Sassy20 · 03/09/2013 07:24

Thanks Ruey - that's what I'm thinking and as you say probably nothing so trying not to get worked up about it. X

Bearfrills · 03/09/2013 07:55

Sassy, it sounds a lot like it could be a cervical erosion. I had it with DS and the bleeding was just like you describe, more like bloody mucous than actual blood-blood. Definitely get checked out at EPU, although how far are you now? As far as I know the Maternity Assessment Unit takes over from EPU at around 16-18wks. Hope everything is okay :)

EeyoreIsh · 03/09/2013 08:10

sassy sorry to hear you've had a bit of bleeding. Do call the triage number that should be on the front of your notes. If it's brown blood it's old blood and should be ok but worth getting it checked. I hope it's all ok.

SugarMiceInTheRain · 03/09/2013 08:37

Sorry some of you are still being so sick. My sickness has abated though I still heave at all kinds of random things. Lovestobake I had SPD throughout pregnancy #1 and to a lesser extent #2 so I can sympathise - the pelvic pain is horrendous - I couldn't walk properly, only shuffle and putting on trousers or tights was a lie-on-the-bed-and-do-both-legs-in-sync job otherwise the pain was excruciating, basically anything where my legs moved in opposite directions was out :-( I am dreading having a recurrence this time round

Thank you for the offers of help with the MA questions, champagne and littlest, I'm sure I'll be picking your brains when I get round to tackling the form...

Sassy what a worry, it's probably fine, but I would ring the EPU/antenatal unit, they are usually pretty understanding about these things and will try to fit you in.

I'd also like to join the FB group, somehow missed that being set up! Mind you I more or less missed an entire thread over the summer!!

Has anyone here started thinking about names? With DS1 & 2 I was reading baby name books avidly from day 1, as I did in the 3 subsequent pregnancies I MCd, but this time I haven't even looked. I suppose I already have an idea of some of my favourite names from previous pregnancies but I really need to give the idea some more thought! DH is no help at all on the name front. He suggests things like Kermit or Gaylord and thinks it's hilarious to wind me up Hmm Basically previous times I've given him my list of names I like, he's taken out the ones he objects to and when the baby is born I say do you prefer x or y?

Thisisfreakingmeout · 03/09/2013 08:46

Hey Sassy, get yourself checked for your peace if mind. Lots of good wishes going your way.

My main symptom is still hunger. The main side effect is a paunch! I am still squeezing into my normal work trousers but jeans are out. Oh ANSI have bought exactly nothing yet!

I'm now in the 2ww for my 20 week scan and getting impatient.

18+3

Sassy20 · 03/09/2013 09:58

Thanks everyone. I phoned the antenatal unit and have been told need to go via my GP so waiting for a telephone call around midday! At work trying to take my mind off it. I had a cervical erosion with dd so hoping it's just that. I'm 16 weeks today. X

misskatamari · 03/09/2013 10:19

Hope it turns out to be nothing to worth about sassy - as the other ladies say brown blood means that its probably old. Fingers crossed its all fine.

Well I've finally started the clothes sort - which I think will basically just mean emptying my wardrobe as I doubt anything will fit. I just tried on some work trousers which I haven't worn since I went off sick before summer and good god! The button and hole were about 4 inches apart with no chance of doing up! Not pretty! Definitely not salvageable with waistband extenders!

misskatamari · 03/09/2013 10:20

Oh and I feel for you cubano - I think we'll be due another airing of the PowerPoint soon Confused

jazzcat28 · 03/09/2013 11:07

sassy hope all goes ok, thinking of you and sending positive vibes!

Can I ask those of you due mid-late Feb when you're thinking of stopping work?

I know I've asked this before on one of the very early threads but it's actually playing on my mind this week. If I've done my calculations correctly then I could go on annual leave from 23rd Dec (at 32wks) until 28th January, starting ML on 29th January. Baby due 16th Feb.

I will accrue more holiday whilst I'm off on ML which I need to take before returning to work, but only about 2 weeks worth. Just wondering whether it's better to stock pile some leave to have at the end of ML to help adjust returning to work, or whether it's better to just end work at Christmas.

I must admit, I'm seriously considering stopping at Christmas, not because I've been so sick as some of you have, but just because I can't see the point of having time off over Christmas then returning to work for 2-3 weeks of nothingness. Will also mean I can spend lots of lovely wintery days sat at home with fire and Netflix rather than a 90min motorway commute.

bugsyburge · 03/09/2013 12:30

I've been thinking the same thing jazzcat....

my holidays run Jan to Dec and I don't really have much left for this year so I'm going to have the Xmas break and return to work on 2jan then finish for mat leave on 17 Jan. I'm going to take 52weeks plus the 5weeks I will accrue from holiday and go back 23 Feb 2015.... thats if I've done my maths correctly but hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon.....

jazzcat28 · 03/09/2013 12:39

bugsy but don't you think those 2 weeks in January will be so pointless? My replacement will be in post by then and I'll be like a huge, whale-sized spare part. Taking annual leave seems logical as then I'd be 'paid' to be at home. But I guess it means less time off the other end.

LovesToBake · 03/09/2013 12:43

Afternoon ladies, I have a question which may be TMI - I seem to get quite a lot of creamy coloured stringy CM every time I go to the loo and wipe - I don't remember this from last time. I had sort of assumed nothing would be coming down from 'up there' because surely there is a mucous plug to keep baby safe. Should I be worried? Have others got the same?

LovesToBake · 03/09/2013 12:47

And jazzcat I'm thinking exactly the same as you. Due on 21st Feb but DS was born at 37+4 (so if this one arrives around that gestation, it would be around 4th Feb) so on that basis, I really want a month of chill time to get sorted for the baby when DS will still be in nursery 2 days a week. So I am fully intending to wrap up work at Christmas, initially using some annual leave and then starting ML. Can't bloody wait - that means 15 more complete weeks at work, woo hoo!

Bearfrills · 03/09/2013 13:31

Increased discharge (ick) is normal in pregnancy I think, I definitely had it worse second time around than first time but its always worth getting it checked if you're concerned (and if it's a funny smell or colour then definitely get checked to rule out an infection).

I'm due 19th Feb and I'm starting my leave on 3rd Feb but taking a week of annual leave before that so I'll actually finish the last week of January (27th?). In taking a year so I'll be due back at work on 2nd Feb 2015 but I accrue my leave while off and my leave year starts again on 1st April so I'm going to use all six weeks at once. By the time I've used that up it'll be 16th March when I go back. If I go back. Haven't decided that one yet :)

Camwombat · 03/09/2013 13:59

I'm having a nightmare, we moved end of last week (only a couple of hundred miles) and trying to get registered with doctors and more importantly midwife is hell.

I need to rehave my 16 week midwife appt (I'm currently 18 weeks), they have to find me a scan appt in the next three weeks and I need to know where I want to have baby like yesterday.

For those of you moving later in the year, unless you are changing health authority don't change your midwife or doctors until after birth, I didnt last time and we moved at 32 weeks.

Thingymajigs · 03/09/2013 14:42

Try not to worry sassy. I had brown discharge from 14-16 weeks which turned out to be harmless if completely panic provoking. I went through my GP and saw my MW the next day who phoned the hospital but they wouldn't scan as it was old blood. I eventually found some comfort by buying a home doppler. I think mine was part of a hematoma (implantation bleeding) which was seen at 7 weeks but had disappeared/moved by 13 weeks. I'm sure everything is fine but its best to get it checked out.

Quick rant: OMG I'm so hungry! I only ate an hour ago. I am going to be so fat. Cake Biscuit

marzipanned · 03/09/2013 14:59

I've got loads more discharge than usual, had a google and apparently bits of the plug can come off and they just get replenished, so not a big deal unless as Bear says it's stinky/colourful.

somany your vomit/pee story made me laugh, I had a horrific vomit last night which had blood in it - that's the second time now. Afterwards it feels like I've got something sharp stuck in my throat so I think the blood is from my throat rather than anything more serious. It's horrid and a bit scary though.

I've only had one nightmare, in which I lost the baby, but my dreams are very vivid and exciting at the moment. DH dreamed last night (after the blood incident) that I died and was really traumatised this morning!! :)

Back on cyclizine today and I forgot how it knocks me out. Quite pleasant though, I wish I could just sleep and wake up in February (with DH having done all the necessary shopping, of course)

Oh and 18 weeks today, only 22 to go thank goodness.

Sassy20 · 03/09/2013 15:24

Back from the hospital. My GP referred me after speaking on phone. Baby's heartbeat was good and had internal and looking like old bleed so they're not concerned. Told to go back if pain gets worse or bleeding gets worse. Thanks for all the reassurance Smile

I can now plan ahead again so in terms of when I'm planning to finish - baby due 18th Feb so planning on starting mat leave 3rd Feb and will take annual leave before that so hoping to finish middle of December as have quite a lot of leave owing and only work 3 days a week! Grin X

EeyoreIsh · 03/09/2013 15:35

Good news sassy

I'm due 2 Feb, so am still trying to decide if I leave work before Xmas and take annual leave until mid January, or if I take normal Xmas leave and work for the first few weeks of the year.

I need to work out the money situation really. Sigh.

gnittinggnome · 03/09/2013 16:45

sassy that's great news! fingers crossed for no more scares.

As a newly self-employed person, I am hoping to get all my stock sorted out and a new range prepped so that post Christmas rush (fingers crossed) I can start nesting seriously and just leave orders with my husband to post. Not sure when I can start claiming maternity allowance as a self-employed mama, but hoping my accountant will know all of that.
