Well, here's hoping!

I've started doing my pelvic floors as I now pee a little bit when I puke. :(

I'm also very confused about bras - how many different sizes do you need to buy through pregnancy? I'm a bit too big for my usual size now but don't want to have to keep buying larger and larger as they (cross fingers) grow...

Hello - I bought a few bras in a cup size larger than normal but they're already full now, so I'm back to my nursing bras that I had 3 years ago as they have a bit more room! I think the non wired ones do give more room to grow without them gaping too much, although underwired is better for support. Your boobs have probably had their growth spurt by now, until right close to your due date where they will expand again like mad when your milk comes in! So maybe just buy some maternity/nursing bras now with a couple of cup sizes to grow into...

I second using the mumsnet method to measure for bras, M&S will add on inches to your back and give you quadraboob!

Jazzcat - try the sale sections of figleaves and brastop for your size. I think Debenhams also go up to that size.

Did everyone get an "Emma's Diary" at your booking appointments? And has anyone actually used the voucher things for your "Mum to be" freebie pack at Argos or Boots? I'm wondering if it's worth it - thinking of setting up an email address like [email protected] or something like that, so I don't get spammed in my regular account, but not sure if the loot is worth it or not. Any thoughts?

Oh my god NPower and gonna be getting my pregnancy rage! They're supposed to be changing the gas meter as apparently that's something that's happening across the board at the moment according to letters we've had.

We were out when it was first scheduled (wasn't checked with us) so I rang and rearranged with them. The woman on the phone didn't book the right thing - which I only found out after waiting in a whole frigging day for a man that didn't turn up anyway. Rang them at 5 to six that day wondering where he was - told to ring back at six - what the fuck! Rang back and sorted it out for this coming Monday and today I get a bloody prepayment gas meter card through as they've booked in to change to prepayment meter instead of just giving us a new one!!! RAGE!!!! Final straw I am bloody changing to new suppliers who aren't a bunch of fucking idiots!!!

misskatamari · 29/08/2013 13:39

Gnitting - I got one - some okay stuff in, some little samples of products etc and a nappy Smile I'd deffo recommend the new email tho - wish I'd thought of that!

Milkandtwo · 29/08/2013 14:16

Better day today (so far) thanks folks! No big crying jags or apoplectic rage just yet. Gave in and went to bed at 9pm last night and got up at 5.45 to start work again on a fresh head! Far more productive and I've almost sorted my backlog. Also closed my (online) shop for a few weeks so I can chill out a bit and have the odd day off. Just feel bad about doing that as I pay other people piece-work and it means none for them for a few weeks. I don't want to mess them about but I have definitely taken on too much at the mo!

Sooo need a nap now, been a long day already, but I have two men in my loft banging away very loudly (new loft hatch) so it's not happening. Boo. Back to work then...

Oh and Dawn you're not a bad person, I had a little giggle, whilst simultaneously sobbing, after punching myself in the face. It was a pretty funny final straw.

Sassy20 · 29/08/2013 14:29

Just tried the bra measuring thing and I'm other a 32e or a 34d! Now keen to go and try bras on to see if it works Smile

Milkandtwo · 29/08/2013 15:38

so, what is this bra measuring thing?

tinypolkadot · 29/08/2013 15:42

Try measuring yourself using this method Milkandtwo

Milkandtwo · 29/08/2013 16:08

If I do this (when the builders have gone) and it says I'm bigger than a G then I might just totally lose my shit.

barebranches · 29/08/2013 16:15

hey girls
ive been in work this week (teacher) and my head mentioned to me about getting a matbsomething form... where do i get this from?? wish i knew before then i could have asked the midwife at my 16 week check... sigh...

jazzcat28 · 29/08/2013 16:24

bare I believe it's a form that your midwife gives you but according to my notes we don't get it until our 25 wk appointment. Employers don't need it until 15 weeks before your EDD so they are asking for it a bit early really.

misskatamari · 29/08/2013 16:25

Never heard of it bare - hopefully some of the other ladies will have an idea. Oh my god I just decided to have another look and see if it was okay to eat feta as everything I've seen so far has said to avoid but woo hoo this seems to say its okay! I've been craving it so much so am now very happy!

misskatamari · 29/08/2013 16:26

Although all the ones I've looked at dont specify pasteurised or not so maybe my GrinGrinGrin is a bit premature Hmm

marzipanned · 29/08/2013 16:44

missk I've eaten feta, halloumi, cream cheese and mozz - all from the safe if pasteurised list, though no idea whether they were pasteurised or not! If you're really worried, why not bake it?

re: bras when bravissimo fitted me last pg, instead of making sure the bra fitted me on the loosest hook (and then you tighten it as the bra naturally stretches through wear) they fitted me on the tightest hook so there was growing room plus up a cup size (so i measured 36j last time and bought a 38j. This time I am "only" an 34hh!). In the last trimester your ribcage tends to expand as by then all your internal organs have been shoved up out of the way by baby Grin. i used softcups in the last trimester. Would be worth making these nursing bras at this point so you can use them post pg too but I am hanging on to under wiring for as long as possible with these norks!

When my milk came in i was a 38L but by 4 months pp I was a 34hh and my boobs have pretty much stayed that way ever since. I just had one bra each time I went up a size in pregnancy! Large maternity and nursing bras have a good resale on ebay, particularly with americans (or I just found a wierdo with a fetish!)

Softcup bras are more forgiving size wise and have a bit more adjusting/growing room than underwired so much easier to measure at home for.

DO NOT GET MEASURED AT M&S OR MOTHERCARE. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Follow links above to better bra campaign!

I am very passionate about proper fitting bras Blush

barebranches · 29/08/2013 17:06

thanks girls. Thats good to know i can get it from the midwife!
i just looked at my notes and u get it at 25 weeks too! guess i should have read them.Grin

misskatamari · 29/08/2013 18:17

Thanks Marzipanned - I will deffo be indulging in my feta love then! Wow petty L cup?? That is insane - I didn't even know that existed! The internal organs squishing sounds so freaky - gosh we're all gonna be so uncomfortable aren't we. Do you think there exists a point at all during pregnancy when there isn't some ailment to be moaning about - thus far I haven't had one! Smile

Thisisfreakingmeout · 29/08/2013 18:35

I have been eating tons of feta, mozzarella etc when I know it is pasteurised or cooked. The feta in sainsburys in a blue packet with a pic of a goat is pasteurised and I'm having tonight with roast squash, pine nuts and pasta. Nom!

Had a horrendous night, up and out of bed from 3.30 until 5.30 as I felt so weird! Cannot wait for my bed tonight.

littlestgirlguide · 29/08/2013 19:20

Well, very unimpressed with M&S today.
Assistant failed to notice that the tape measure had slipped several inches down my back so she was measuring diagonally, and failed to see that my DD had got her fingers wrapped in the tape 'helping', had to tell her both times. Measured me in my old bra (thought this was a no go?) as a 36DD. As as size 12-14 top half, does the 36 sound reasonable?
All the bras she brought to show me were badly fitting, many gaped by the arm pit and some were too tight on the front. I was spectacularly unimpressed by the actual bras too - boring, almost all underwired, plain and drab, and expensive too - is it just me who thinks £18 is a bit much for a plain, white, t-shirt bra?
Didn't buy anything!

sunflowered · 29/08/2013 19:26

I second the avoid-m&s theme - unless you want to give your new, expanded womanly assets a decidedly matronly middle aged sort of a makeover. Different issue, but when I got measured up for my posh wedding kecks (oh to be a 32d again...) I bought some other bits from the same place and spent the next month being complimented on losing weight - it's going to be a while before that happens again but made a really noticeable difference and made pretty much everything from shoulder to waist look better. (Sadly my newly mortgaged, half renovated house budget means I can no longer afford such luxuries. Growing up sucks sometimes most of the time )

i think i'll brave the prosciutto et al. It would be insulting to the italians not to. Plus i only read today that painting and decorating should be avoided so i dont think a bit of tasty food can do any more damage than i must have done already. I don't know how people had healthy babies 30 years ago withouy all this useful advice to follow Wink

I haven't raised my voice once today (not even in my head) - not even when the plumber 'got stuck on another job'. Maybe i've turned a moody corner Grin

pettyprudence · 29/08/2013 19:29

littlest, im a size 16 up top and I measure up as 34 underbust. I really eould measure yourself using the better bra method. also, post your experience of m&s on there too. m&s keep denying that they train their fitters in this way Shock

sunflowered · 29/08/2013 19:30

nb 'the same place' = posh wedding pants shop, def not m&s (just re-read my post and it was a bit ambiguous!)

EeyoreIsh · 29/08/2013 19:53

I got properly measured (consistent with the mumsnet method) at bravissimo before my wedding. The bra was no more expensive than m&s bras are. It's strange though, my boobs went up a cup size at the start, but they shrunk back down when I lost weight with ms, and they've not really grown much more. I'm sure they will in the near future though!

On the train back from my mammoth journey. Feeling really sick, all clammy and faint. I tried eating some soup thinking that would make me feel better but I'm not sure I'll keep it in for the next hour Sad I'm so upset that the nausea just won't stay away.

I bumped into a former colleague today, last time I saw her she was heading off on maternity leave. She said she'd had a miscarriage before, but really sadly, she's 9 weeks pregnant again and the baby isn't growing as it should and she's been told she may miscarry at any point. I wanted to give her a big hug, the poor lass. It reminded me how precious and fragile our little babies are.

Milkandtwo · 29/08/2013 20:13

Erm - tried that better bra campaign - had me at a 32 GG!!!!! Shock

But I have only just graduated to 32G in some bras (panache) and am mostly 32 FF in others (Freya, Fantasie) I was 32F pre-pg.

After years of being fitted at Bravissimo (when I lived in London - there's not one in Bristol sadly) I know what fits and what doesn't and know I'm not wearing cup sizes that are too small. It's possible there's some brand out there that I would be a GG in, mind - they do vary a lot between brands I guess. But I hope to NEVER find that brand.
