I had to take a sample to mine champagne maybe best take one to be on the safe side?

I've had an itchy belly button shropshire luckily the dream cream I bought from Lush sorted it along with the rest of my itchy-scratchiness.

I think I must have been storing breast milk in my arse for years! Grin

Camwombat · 28/08/2013 12:59

Yes, take a urine sample with you. I know that feeling Wink

Also re listening to heartbeat, as well as area, it also varies dependent on midwife. I had to ask to listen to it this time, whereas with DS (2.2) they did it automatically.

Camwombat · 28/08/2013 13:03

jazzcat do you want a second one this afternoon?! He comes supplied with his own dvds that are great and will be an angel for chocolate buttons... Wink
Then we can pack the removal vans in peace, unless i can persuade him of the merits of a nap some hope

Hello again. Seems like I've missed loads but I was only on here the other day. I've been busy having a lovely weekend away in Wales. The quiet was amazing and definitely needed. Especially as since we've been back there is a lot of talk of moving house in the next couple of months and our car broke down. We had to write it off and buy another. So today I've been busy cleaning ready for house viewings on Saturday. I've barely had a chance to think about pregnancy but at least its making the time go a lot faster for the scan.
I didn't get to hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks. Apparently they don't offer it until 28 weeks in our area.
I have PM'd you miss but not sure what I'm doing with FB tbh.

jazzcat28 · 28/08/2013 13:17

camwombat I think I'm going to find one an experience! I have some ice age DVDs, monsters inc, lion king and Aladdin. Hoping they are suitable for a 3.5yr old?! If not we will go down to the park (but I have no sun cream for little people)

misskatamari · 28/08/2013 13:29

DVDs sound like a good plan jazz! The bottles and steriliser were from
Amazon - just over 30 quid for the steriliser and think the bottles were either 14 or 18 quid. I always forget about boots for baby things!

misskatamari · 28/08/2013 13:37

I've sent you an invite Thingy - I would guess it would show up in your email. Might have gone to spam as that happened to someone else yesterday.

Have a lovely holiday sunflowered! Smile

Camwombat · 28/08/2013 13:43

Mine is only 2 so it's Fireman Sam, Thomas, Bob the Builder, Peppa Pig etc. They ought to be ok. There's always CBeebies!
Mines currently decided his lunch is rubbish and his t-shirt tastes nice.. oh well.
Good luck you'll be fine!

marzipanned · 28/08/2013 13:49

Thanks for setting up the group missk - will drop you a PM now.

Haven't been on as have had a miserable couple of days puking-wise but lovely to hear about happy scans and heartbeats.

LovesToBake · 28/08/2013 13:52

Thanks again for setting up the FB group MissKat - great to see all the scan and bump pics. Not sure I'm brave enough for a bump pic yet, may try later if it's feeling photogenic!

So I'm sitting at my desk committing the mortal pregnancy crime of eating sushi and it's delicious. I have felt so 'blah' about food for soooooo long now that when I decided I really fancied sushi this morning there was no way I was going to ignore it! It was from Whole Foods though, so surely of the highest quality and not going to cause any probs...

sunflowered · 28/08/2013 14:02

Thanks missk! Can't wait (as long as dh's grumpiness wears off before we go........)

Lovestobake I think sushi is ok bizarrely. something to do with them having to freeze the fish first?

EeyoreIsh · 28/08/2013 14:04

Just back from my 16 week appointment, all well. She found the heartbeat straight away, which was great! lovely to hear it whooshing away. She told me not to expect any movement until 20 weeks, and my lack of bump is fine.

It feels strange not having another appointment until 25 weeks, I'll have a proper bump by then I hope!

I've got an upset tummy today though :( I'm not sure if it's a return of morning sickness or something I ate Sad I've got lots of work to do and an 11 hour round train trip tomorrow so I hope it settles. Off for a lie down.

marzipanned · 28/08/2013 14:09

sunflowered that's right, if the fish has been frozen (which I imagine it would've been at WF or pretty much any sushi place not beside a fish market) the bugs will have been killed.

Also, my friend (British) was pregnant while living in Japan and when she mentioned not eating sushi, her doctor said, "are you mad? Fish is one of the best things for the baby!"

she doesnt sound a particularly great mw, maybe she was having an off day Hmm she ought to be able to answer your questions.

jazz, enjoy your afternoon and a non grown up house. ours is normally like fort Knox, as ds is a climber and too clever at problem solving for his own good!

pourmeanother · 28/08/2013 14:58

Re OBEM, I was grateful for having watched about a million episodes recently before birth of DC2. My labour was mad quick - 1 hr and half long from first twinge to baby out. We couldn't get me in the car to get to hospital as urge to push was too great and hospital was 30 mins away. Paramedics arrived in time to help poor DH and MIL(!) as they watched in horror!

Having watched so many labours on OBEM, I felt like I had some sort of a clue of what was happening and what would happen next. They never show anything going wrong in labours or any sad endings, god forbid. So if you can bear it, watch it just for education if nothing else.

The mad quick birth was with my second child. First labour was over 50 hrs long so have been through both ends of spectrum. Weird. Hoping 3rd one will be quick too!

I'd advise reading up nearer the time about what exactly a contraction is - ie the science behind the cervix softening and dilating in prep for baby xoming down birth canal. The more you can get your head around how your body is fully in control of what is going on and is just prepping for baby to exit, the better. I got myself soooo worked up during contractions in my first labour.I tensed up and really didn't try to relax and breathe through the contractions. When you feel pain as a human, you just fear that there is something wrong with your body and you get scared thinking this isn't right! Labour's the opposite - with each pain, your cervix is dilating and you feel this via your tummy hardening and cramping and the pain is a GOOD thing as your body is getting you closer and closer to the point of delivery.

I am planning to remember all this in Feb and have a good watch of OBEM and read over the birth sections of my pregnancy books.

Please don't be frightened anyone. It isn't pleasant but if the pain gets too much, just have pain relief and it goes away, I promise (had epidural with DC1)!

I do think though that knowledge about birth is power so do read about it loads if you can face it!

Shropshiremummy2B · 28/08/2013 15:05

Re Pee pots- Boots give you them free (but Shrewsbury had run out!) as should your doctor. My midwife gave me one at my 10 week for my 16 week, but I got a little over excited and took a sample to my 12 week scan. The sonographer giggled and said she didn't want to see my wee and I couldnt see a bin, so I popped it back in my Mulberry handbag to be discovered ONE WHOLE WEEK later. Thank god it hadnt leaked!

My 16 week midwife was also miserable and dower with a face like a smacked arse. She buried her head in my notes and mumbled for 10 minutes then redeemed herself with the whole heartbeat thing, I was so happy I practically started humping her leg.

jazzcat28 · 28/08/2013 15:08

pourmeanother the birth bit is just not on my radar at the moment. I'm trying not to think about it too much! But interesting you mentioned you had an epidural. I am contemplating this - I'm not one for denying pain relief for the sake of it! Did you find you had any difficulties feeling the contractions and knowing when to push? DH wants me to go completely pain relief free other than G&A but he can jog right on.

vix206 · 28/08/2013 15:14

I took my 16 wk sample in a Nutella pot Grin
