Well, here's hoping!

OP posts:

Good job working on your dissertation, jazzcat - what are you writing about?

I am just cursing myself for moving right now - I thought it'd be easier to be pregnant here, but godness me, it isn't. A lot less health checks than UK, and there's no antenatal classes of any sort in this part of the country. No pregnancy yoga or anything whatsoever within an hour from home. This sucks, I was really hoping to get to know some other pregnant girls, but nope, nothing at all!

Littleen · 24/08/2013 20:29

and all the ladies on my other forum here are saying you "have" to spend £800-1200 on a pushchair/pram to get something good enough. wth! O.o I have 300 to spend!

LovesToBake · 24/08/2013 20:32

That sounds really tough Littleen. Did you say what country you've moved to before? My mind is like a sieve at the moment. Did you move over there for work or for your DH's work or similar? Is there much sign of new baby groups maybe, so you can get going with meeting new mums once the little one has arrived?

EeyoreIsh · 24/08/2013 20:52

littleen, I'm in a big town in the south east of England and there is no pregnancy yoga, pilates or aqua classes. It is really poor.

I'm also trying to find a pushchair for very few £££. It's tricky.

Milkandtwo · 24/08/2013 21:17

Bed. Nutella. Spoon.

That is all.

Milkandtwo · 24/08/2013 21:19

Eeyorish and litleen - that sucks but I smell a gap in the market if you're feeling entrepreneurial!*

*energetic

laura0007 · 24/08/2013 21:27

Ooh milk that sounds scrummy! Think ill do the same Grin

Milkandtwo · 24/08/2013 21:33

It's the best. I can't believe I used to dilute its goodness with bread. So unnecessary. And I can eat it in bed with no crumbs too. After 6 hours in the car today I'm now in heaven!

Littleen · 24/08/2013 22:21

LovestoBake we just moved to Norway where I am from! Seems I have climatized so well after 5 years in England though, that it's incredibly hard to move back to a rural island in the middle of the North Sea! ><

MilkandTwo I'm a newly qualified interior designer, and have no clue about babies :P Don't think it's for me to start up anything

EeyeoreIsh perhaps strange, but nice to know it's not just here then! I have lived withi

Littleen · 24/08/2013 22:26

ahh keyboard broke (again) - think I have some massive virus problem since downloading a film a few weeks ago!

was going to say that I have lived within 1,5 hours of London for a while, and got used to having everything available at my doorstep! Spoilt ftw! :P Is there nothing in a nearby city you can go to?

Oh no champagne - that sounds nasty and annoying... Sad Got no advice but am making sympathetic soothing noises at you instead.

gnittinggnome · 25/08/2013 09:03

champagne Is it possible to swallow honey without violent repercussions? It'll help bring up the phlegm in as gentle a way as possible. Or if at all possible warm water, lemon juice and honey? (I've heard lemon juice in water is good for morning sickness, but it may not even touch the sides of HG...) Hope you had a good night's sleep!

Littleen · 25/08/2013 09:29

Hope you feel better asap Champagne! that sounds awful!
Anyone tried the maternity range at Asos? I wish I could get a nice dress or something for my graduation, but it's still three months away and I have no idea how my belly will look at 6 months preggers :P

gnittinggnome · 25/08/2013 09:39

I've just been on AIBU defending my use of the phrase "if it's healthy I will be happy" in response to the inevitable "do you want a boy or a girl" question. Healthy, and ideally good natured are at the top of my wish list. I mentioned this to DH, who added another possibility "...or Thor."

Milkandtwo · 25/08/2013 09:54

I get really annoyed by the boy or girl question. I know what type of child I would love but personality traits or passions for certain activities aren't remotely gender specific. Boys aren't always boisterous football lovers blah blah. Ugh.

jazzcat28 · 25/08/2013 10:02

littleen my dissertation is about employee motivation. Started off interesting but I'm now just trying to get it done.

Any of you with DC already - please explain to me what I need in terms of clothing. I understand I need some sleep suits, some all in ones for daytime, cardigans and a jacket. What does one do with vests, those baby grows with a t-shit style top? Do they go under all in ones? If so, does it matter if it's a vest or the t-shirt style ones? (with poppers under nappy) Also sleeping bags - will one or two suffice or will I need more?!

Ta muchly in advance

jazzcat28 · 25/08/2013 10:03

Oops, obvs t-shirt not t-shit

misskatamari · 25/08/2013 10:12

Littleen I've had some Asos maternity stuff. Really like them and I think they do have some nice dresses. The things I've got are pretty roomy in the bump area!

Jazzcat - good Q as I am totally clueless too about what/how much I'll need. What's a sleep suit? It's it a babygrow/onesie thing?

Jazzcat yes the vests with poppers at bottom are for under the baby grow all in ones. Since we will be having babies in winter you may want to look at the vests with long sleeves I think most of my DD and DS were to begin with as they were both winter babies too. This just gives them a bit more layers and warmth encase their little arms escape being swaddled (if you are swaddling). I love swaddling and so did my babies so will be doing that again.

You will probably want one if those all in one snow suit thingy's as it will be too cold for just a coat I guess.

With regards to the sleep bag you wouldn't use that when they are really tiny new norms as swaddling and a blanket over top is usually best. But those sleeping bags come in really handy when they start getting more active and kick the covers off. I can't remember exactly but I think I used them from 6 months they were amazing and yes I had a spare as leaky nappies or puking milk often meant it needed to be washed a lot.

I think my baby is having a party this morning I have been feeling it flutter around for the past 30mins. marzipanned I think it was you that shared your concern with not feeling it move yet. Just for reassurance I did not feel my first until 20 weeks so please don't worry. Even the feelings of movement I am having now I think if I hadn't had children before I wouldn't realise it was baby, it is gentle fluttering not big movements.

I may have lost count since the Sonographer changed my dates but I think I am 14+4

Ooh and chapagne welcome back! Sorry you are still sick I am still on that boat with you, hoping to get off sooner rather than later.
