Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsGSR · 31/08/2013 11:47

Your poor DD, Blue! I hope she gets better soon!

My midwife said not to worry about how often I feel kicks until they're properly established, so not just flutters or occasional kicks I guess.

Yay for nursery furniture! I'm veryjealous, my MIL and sister both want to come and visit after baby is born so we're not doing anything to the nursery until just before baby moves in to it (as DH is probably going to afghan when she's 5 months I might keep her in with me until he gets back!)

TobyLerone · 31/08/2013 16:40

Car ordered. I have 2 weeks to stop being a spoilt brat and start being excited :o

Stupid cough just made me puke again :( And we'd just been out for a late lunch. What a waste. Take it from me -- chilli cheeseburger is not nice on the way back up!

Who was it who said their boobs smell weird? Mine too! I could smell it this morning so DH checked and said they smell "sweet". Possible TMI.

Toothfairy78 · 31/08/2013 20:59

Yay! For new cars!

Have continued with nursery prep today. Bought paint (antique white and light rain). Cleared out some more stuff. Bought a blackout blind (it's plain cream but intend to accent it with a strip or so of funky fabric and ribbons when I see some). Decided not to remove the whole shelving system but make it half the width and higher up above the baby dresser...so spent the evening in the garage sawing and sanding bits of wood (and I needed to be away from the fumes while our newly restored parquet floor dries). Not my best work but should make a decent dresser effect once painted.

Cream crackered now.

DH is cooking me a curry as a reward!

Might go ogle some origami animals ideas for the nursery on t' Internet now.

Sultanajo · 31/08/2013 21:04

Hope your poor DD is doing OK blue. What bad luck doing them both!

Toby they smell sweet! How weird! Grin Well done for ordering the car....sounds like the right decision.Grin

Have started having second thoughts about our pram....keep thinking maybe its too big! So going to try out some more next weekend and then make a final decision....Arghhh too many decisions to make!

In annoying news, a little bit of pee has sneaked out twice sneezing today! Grrrr! Really must make an effort to do pelvic floors! Blush

Sultanajo · 31/08/2013 21:09

tooth you are very much putting me to shame! I know what I like when I see it, but I am shite at creating from scratch....

Have however had a total turn around from going for creams and browns, to going for white walls, white cot and splashes of bright colours using blankets etc. Saw a fab multi coloured stripey blanket in john lewis - need to find it somewhere cheaper....Grin

Sultanajo · 31/08/2013 21:17

This is gonna sound like a really stupid question, but if a blanket is advertised as a "pram blanket" can it be used in a cot also? Blush

TobyLerone · 31/08/2013 21:21

Yes, but it won't be very big.

Mamas and Papas do some lovely bright blankets but I can't bring myself to buy one given that I can knit.

Sultanajo · 31/08/2013 21:43

Ah Ok. Thanks Toby! Will check out mamas and papas...Grin

MrsGSR · 31/08/2013 23:40

tooth we have 'light rain' in our living room. DH says it's a stupid name but I love the colour!

sultana I'm still being indecisive about a pram too, I think we'll have to go back to kiddicare again!

TobyLerone · 01/09/2013 00:10

Our pram is huge. DH assures me that it'll fit in the new enormous car, but I'm not so sure... Too late now, though -- it's in my living room!

extracrunchy · 01/09/2013 00:18

I can very highly recommend our pram! It's a Baby Jogger City Mini GT: absolutely lovely to handle (one-handed while on the phone with no difficulty at all), all kinds of additions for newborns, comfy, lots of long term potential and room to stash stuff... We've just bought a Petite Star Zia Cocoon to go in it instead of the BJ carrycot (which is pretty overpriced) - it's a snuggly newborn insert that you add to keep baby warm and safe, as well as parent-facing.

Prams are by far the hardest decision to make! We've been through loads... A cheapish one by Safety 1st, a Phil & Ted Vibe (not recommended), a Mamas and Papas Sola (lovely on paper but very flimsy and plasticky - lucky their customer care is excellent as we needed new parts 4 times within a year of buying), a Chicco Multiway, a Maclaren Techno and now the Baby Jogger, which is far and away the best we have ever had. I've also used various buggies in the past as a nanny and it's still top of the list!

MrsVDB · 01/09/2013 05:46

We've changed our minds on prams too. We're now thinking that the bugaboo cameleon might be the way forward but it is pretty pricey. Do I remember someone else going for that too?

Is Anyone else struggling to sleep? For the last few night I'm just generally uncomfortable but can't put my finger on why

MrsAVB · 01/09/2013 07:55

We tried out the chameleon in mothercare mrsv, it's great but I do think you're paying extra for the name as its not loads better than some of the others. And there's lots of extras to buy that aren't included. I think we're going to go with the graco evo (does anyone have any experience?), although we do have friends with a baby jogger who love it. I can't find anywhere to try the 4 wheelers though... And have something against three wheelers.

MrsVDB · 01/09/2013 08:03

mrsa that's what I thought, still hoping for a bargain! We tried a graco in kiddicare yesterday but not sure of model. I really liked it but the basket is really tiny which was a deal breaker for me, it was literally the smallest I've seen

Sultanajo · 01/09/2013 08:26

Toby remind me which pram u ended up with? My second thoughts about the uppababy vista, which is sitting in our kitchen still boxed, is purely because I saw it next to the quinny, bugaboo and icandy in john lewis which looked suddenly a lot smaller, and thought "oh shit, am I ever gonna be able to take this pram into a restaurant?" Blush

mrsv I too am struggling to get comfy, waking up with heartburn and add to that suddenly frustratingly horny, and thats my nights in a nutshell currently (along with still getting up to pee). Blush

However, being up so much last night, meant I felt quite a few little kicks which was nice! Grin

TobyLerone · 01/09/2013 08:43

We have the Stokke Xplory. Not huge when it's up, but folded it's big and heavy. If I have the ELCS they want me to have, I'm definitely not going to be able to get it in and out of the car for a while!

Mind you...I won't be driving the car for a while. Duh!

MrsV, I'm with you. I just feel a bit uncomfortable all the time. And heartburn is killing me!

Penny31 · 01/09/2013 09:03

Heartburn killing me over here too! Arghhh! Had a melt down last down because of it, proper hormonal blubbing. Gaviscon advance is the only thing that works for a couple of hours for me. I tried a couple of different ones from the doctor and they didnt work.
I think we are going for the icandy peach2. Hoping to get it ordered next week :)

AnotherStitchInTime · 01/09/2013 10:01

We have a Britax B Agile for dd2 which I love. I chose it after looking at the Which review last year. Handling is brilliant, I can push it one-handed with dd2 (18 months) in it and loaded with shopping. That means I can still hold dd1's hand when crossing roads or be on the phone and push. Because I don't drive I needed a buggy that had good storage for shopping, I can fit two to three big bags in the basket and hang 4 more off the handle using hooks. The seat lies flat for newborns, but it is compatible with the Britax carrycot and car seat. It also worked well with my Pascal maxi buggy board for dd1. I will be sad to have to swap it for a tandem buggy when dc3 arrives. If you are considering having more children after this baby have a look at buggies that can adapt to a tandem like the ICandy Peach 2.

qumquat · 01/09/2013 10:41

We've bought a Baby Jogger City Mini, £100 from eBay. I love it already! Folds one handed and so light to carry and easy to manoevre. Glad to see it recommended here! (Although sadly couldn't afford the GT version). Perfect if like me you live in an upstairs flat or use train or tube station with no lifts. Thanks for the tip on the cocoon, I'll look into that.

extracrunchy · 01/09/2013 10:43

qumquat the giant hood is also a godsend when trying to get them to sleep! It's like a little igloo Smile

Frizz1986 · 01/09/2013 14:45

So much pram talk Smile I worry about ours as its going to take up the whole boot, and i think you need to have the knack to get it down one handed, but as its a gift from my sister we will take it and make do. Not like we can afford anything else and it worked for my sister.....

I will look forward to maybe picking our own for child no 2.

Tough week this past week and this week coming. Did well at work (covering for the boss) and have stayed ahead but this week will be way worse. Also my gransha went into hospital on thurs after a fall. Thankfully they think its just an infection but will keep him in until he is better and steady on his feet.
Poochy has to go in for an operation tomorrow as well. The vet hospital are going to take a wedge out of her bone and put in an implant until it heals. She will be on painkillers for a month and after 2 months they will do another xray to see if its gone well. If it has then she should be back to normal. Op, xrays and medication are £2k. Hoping that insurance will cover it but cant really wait for the claim to process and for them to pay vets direct so we have to pay and the insurance money will come to us.
Have been in complete tears as i just keep having horrible thoughts about what can go wrong. I am aware she is just a dog but she is part of the family and is only a baby herself (4 years old)

This whole week has fekt beyond stressful and i keep breaking down in tears. Struggling to hold it together to be honest and focus on what i have to do at work. Am going to take pooch to the hospital in the morning with dh so will be late to work and behind right from the start so will have to work late or go in early on Tues to catch up, but i know that the dog and me being there is more important.

extracrunchy · 01/09/2013 14:54

Oh Frizz, hope things settle down a bit soon. Try and have a bath or something relaxing later today xx

Sultanajo · 01/09/2013 15:16

Oh frizz you have a lot of worrying things going on. Am not surprised you are feeling overwhelmed and work just tops it off. Try not to worry too much about your little pooch - they will look after him and he will be back home before you know it. He is fit and well otherwise and is still young. He will have a nice kip and wake up ready to heal. Grin

Well this weekend has been royally shite as DH has been in a bad mood the whole time for no apparent reason! He came with me to my mates christening today, but because I was god parent he had to sit away from me and ended up on a bench by himself which was unfortunate. As we drove to the lunch function afterwards he had a total strop that he had felt like a dick sitting by himself, not everyone was wearing a suit so he neednt have bothered and he couldnt see what was going on the whole time. He did have a point but absolutely no need to throw his toys out of his pram. Angry When we got to the lunch he barely spoke to me and didnt want to be sociable, so we just sat next to each other in a hugely awkward silence! I was sooo embarrassed and just wanted the ground to swallow me up and just counted the seconds until I felt it wouldnt be rude to say we were going! At one point I threatened to drive him home and go by myself. He was acting like a frickin child!!!

I knew he was smarting missing the liverpool gane, BUT before I committed us to that date I asked him if he was free and he said yes! Fucks sake!

I have now dropped him home to catch up on his precious fucking match and have gone food shopping just to get out of the house! I cant believe he has ruined the whole weekend and had me in tears of frustration several times! I am soooo pissed off! Angry

Ahhhh, feels better venting! Sorry ladies! It has certainly cured my horniness! Wink

Frizz1986 · 01/09/2013 16:52

sultana that sounds like a pretty crap time

Bluecarrot · 01/09/2013 16:56

Anyone seen bunt about? Hopefully she's just resting after the trip...

DD adapting well to both arms in casts. Eating certain things, toileting, dressing and washing are awkward and she needs loads of help but miraculously, she can use the laptop... Grin

Yesterday I crocheted a long cardigan, booties and mittens for baby. Didn't have enough to do the hat as well. How awful that ill have to go to the wool shop tomorrow!

Tonight I'm gonna have a look for some new patterns - got a lovely deep pink and purple duo to work with next... Then onto the blanket(s)!
