I can't keep up with you all!
clapham glad you are relaxing and letting it go. In my experience work is really not worth all the stress. Good luck wearing heels to the wedding! I know couldn't.
We've been invited to one of dh's employees weddings when I'll be 35 weeks pregnant- I plan not to go. Do you think that's mean? I just think I'll be so massive by then, won't know anyone and can't drink and will be expected to 'perform' as the boss' wife and I am exhausted at the thought of it. It's also 2 hours away and requires me findig childcare for ds which isn't easy. Am I a grumpy cow or would you do the same? DH is going.
Hope appt goes well pseudo

Haylebop12 · 15/08/2013 14:19

shooting I have a wedding the day before in due! I've said ill go depending on how I feel tbh!

Sorry your feeling so meh shire it will all be worth it.

Haylebop12 · 15/08/2013 14:28

It's only the evening mind so no standing all day, an I wouldn't be taking dd.

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 14:43

Shooting I have a 2 weddings to attend one at 34 weeks other at 35 weeks I wish I didn't have to go to either, however both are dp's good friends, and I was supposed to go on both hen do's but cancelled due to being pregnant. Someone that far removed from your social circle (dh colleague) I wouldn't go either...

I'm going out on the 12th October for a girlie head wetting boozy lunch (me excluded) I'm due on the 13th, maybe not the best idea.

Hayle hope you get the house fx

Pseudo glad you've felt some movements.

Warlin totally soul destroying my job, I feel like my whole life changed over night the minute I announced my pregnancy. I had hobbies beforehand (running, decent social life) but mostly my job was like my identity and I feel a bit lost and down these days because my life has become a bit boring Hmm

PseudoBadger · 15/08/2013 14:52

Enjoy boring Flyer - I guarantee you'll wonder what you ever did with your time soon :o

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 14:55

Pseudo I welcome the change anything beats this Daytime tv I'm currently enduring, I'm actually watching Jeremy Kyle, what has my life become Grin

Good Luck with your consultant appointment shortly.

claphammama · 15/08/2013 15:08

flyer could it be that your boss is such a cow because she's been doing / managing this kind of jobs for years? Or is she a failed air hostess who ended up in the office?

Warlin · 15/08/2013 15:15

flyer I can totally understand that. At the moment I am craving a run, cycle, wine, gin and sashimi Grin It's hard when things have to change but as pseudo said you won't be bored for long.

For my last mat leave I finished work on the Friday, baby born on the Sat and dh back to work on the Monday (as ds was 3 weeks early and he is self employed and had meetings that he couldn't cancel). I remember feeling down at going from working woman to full time mum (albeit sore and a bit broken) in the space of a weekend. It def takes time to adjust to the new role but everyone goes through it and most feel the same.

roofio jealous of your work situation. I've just done my online tesco shop to be delivered tomorrow as I really can't face lugging ds round tesco (he refuses to sit in the trolley) and then struggling to bring everything into the house. Think I'll start shopping online now for the rest of my pregnancy and once the baby is born for a while. Work productivity not improving mind you!

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 15:19

I think she has a bee in her bonnet because I am younger than her and much more senior within the company (even though she is a manager) when we worked together she never made it past economy and I've worked in 1st class for the past 8 years...I think she is unhappy in her life from what i can gather and takes it out on others!

However once September 29th come I never have to see her again. My flying line manager is lovely and I get on really well with her. Water off a ducks back now.

claphammama · 15/08/2013 15:22

have you ever done the SF - London route flyer? I've done it 17 times, most of it with Virgin and 1st class and often wonder if we've met on one of the flights and have no idea about it!!

claphammama · 15/08/2013 15:23

ps. actually I've done it 34 times... (17 return flights...) scary!

cazboldy · 15/08/2013 15:27

i would say go if you feel up to it, and deffo book things like lunch with friends etc..... nothing worse than having nothing to do while waiting for the baby to arrive!

Hope all goes well later Pseudo

I haven't seen mw since 28 wks and won't until I'm 34+3..... seems like ages!

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 15:29

Yes I love San Fran I think it's my favourite US city...I've probably served you Grinalthough I'm particularly good at remembering faces believe it or not, and I don't recognise your face. Although I often work in the galley these days to avoid having to speak to anyone Grin

You must have lots of airmiles Clapham. Have you used the Virgin club house at heathrow? I love it in there...

claphammama · 15/08/2013 15:38

oh yes flyer... and I love the SF lounge too - always end up getting drunk on Virgin champagne... Pretty shameless really. I don't blame you for staying in the galley though! I think it's such a hard job to be honest... some people can be so obnoxious and I can see the hostesses never stop through the night. A lot of hard work! (I still haven't learned to make this bed myself... Blush)

Where are you staying in SF? Is it The Clift? Thought I saw Virgin crews there... I was supposed to go again in mid October but can easily get out of this one I think Grin

Pinkforboys · 15/08/2013 15:45

I interrupt this chat with a shopping announcement...

Yippee- my first baby clothes purchase has just arrived! I ordered some Agata Ruiz de la Prada dresses via Vente Privee- bargain and everso cute. Includes some little shiny purple boots (for a year or so's time!) I guess I've finally accepted that bubba 2 is on her way! (And she better be a girl!!)

If anyone is interested in the H&M 20% off kids clothes- it's 0659.

...carry on!

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 16:14

Haha Pink interrupting our chat Grin

Clapham I know who you are now that drunk lady we have to stop serving alcohol as she has depleted all the stocks of champagne on board.

We stay on Nob Hill (childish I still chuckle at the name) in the Renaissance Stanford Court, it's just next to the mark Hopkins...I love the little neighbourhoods in S.F the trams, union square, shopping, I miss going to all these places...bath and body works, Abercrombie (it's so expensive in the uk) Victoria Secrets I could go on and on.

The upper class beds confuse most people I think.

Do you think you'll miss working when you are out of the rat race?

claphammama · 15/08/2013 16:38

exciting pink! She'd better be a girl now! Smile

haha - yes, I'm the one flyer! (And Nob Hill... hehehe) I also come back with a case full of Abercrombie stuff - love it and it's practically half price over there. Saying this, I'm now committed to boycotting them following these stories and their CEO's comments! Plus perhaps it will never fit me again Grin

And no, I really don't think I will miss the rat race... at least not for a long time... been there, done it, got the T-shirt. But never say never and it will depend a lot on how DP's career is going... the cost of living in London is very unforgiving...

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 16:54

Ugh that's just put me right off shopping there now, what a complete idiot (putting it mildly) that CEO sounds.

Yeah I don't know how you Londoners do it, property is so blimin expensive there....hopefully things go swimmingly in dp's career and if you chose to do your yoga/nutrition idea I think it would be a great success.

Pink are you def having a girl did you find out at the 20week scan?

PseudoBadger · 15/08/2013 16:58

Well I had the most brisk consultant appointment ever (does anyone else find male gynae doctors incredibly unsympathetic?)
He had only half read my notes, had already printed off all the blood/scans forms before my appointment - this could be seen as efficient but I saw it as reducing the need to discuss with me....
He took my BP in a very bizarre manner (no stethoscope, barely pumped up the cuff) and listened to heartbeat with sonicare for 5 seconds. He then wrote in my notes that baby was cephalic position without touching me at all.
I mentioned that baby is a bit quiet today (but there has been movement) and he stressed to call the day unit.
Anyway.... It just felt very rushed and half arsed....
I'm having a GTT and TORCH screening, and another scan next week.
I then keep my normal consultant appointment and growth scan 2 weeks after that.
Not looking forward to the GTT!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/08/2013 17:18

Hello all been reading and sympathising but no time to post and only intermittent wifi connection. Also chuckling away at a few things, thank you. Glad all Tests recently seem to have gone well.

Having lovely time in The alps, lots of sunshine, scenery and good food, but bad hips today (very little sleep also) and fell over at frisbee golf walking down hill and cried - more out of frustration than pain. It seems to be a particukarky hormonal time. I'm not joining in super active things like mountain biking and long/hilly walks, good time for naps and reading. I forgot to sun cream my chest today and have burnt it, silly me, I've been so careful! Had a lovely few hours reading by a river in peace and quiet for hours yesterday thinking I probably won't do this again for 20 years so made the most of it! Felt like a blob next to the 3 other girls in little bikinis though.

My mat leave starts 4th October 38 weeks if I can last that long, though IBM on holiday until start of September.

Thanks for the tip about waterproof sheets, I hadn't even considered that but DHs parents bought us a very posh vspring mattress as a housewarming gift so don't want to ruin it, will definitely buy some.

Natalie you still don't know when it will and don't have to organise it yourself be so hopefully a bit of a surprise.

OrangeBlossom2 · 15/08/2013 17:26

Tried to post that last night and it didn't work. Sorry to hear about work woes. Hopefully it means you can have a relaxed last few weeks. It is hard to stop caring though.

When will you here about the house Hayle?

My hips were much better today and just managed my longest walk in this whole pregnancy, 5 and a half hours with a quick lunch stop as sitting on a rock doesn't work with a sore coccyx. I was very pleased with myself and enjoyed beautiful alpine views. Nice to have a day with just me and DH too as this is a group holiday. Now having a lay down while everyone else plays boules in the park, that's enough activity for me!

Glad you felt movements and sorry consultant was rubbish pseudo. Will you go to the day assessment cubit or are you feeling reassured now?

Whoever had DHs colleagues wedding that late on I wouldn't go either.
We have a 30th birthday the week before I a due in shoreditch, the other side of london to us. It is one of our best friends who was best man at our wedding and will probably be godfather but I am not sure we will go to that as I worry about going into labour on the tube home. I will see how I feel then though and whether the head is engaged/mucous plug gone etc and probably not stay too late.

Flyer747 · 15/08/2013 18:34

Orange glad to hear you are having a nice holiday. It sounds very relaxing and picturesque where you are. Enjoy the remainder of your time there.

Pseudo good all seems ok, not so good on the DR rushing, all you want is a little reassurance, it's not too much to ask is it.

With regards that mucus plug when do you usually lose it? And what happens it just like slips out of you when you are on the toilet or in your pants? Excuse the naivety Smile

Wickedgirl · 15/08/2013 18:35

I have been drinking almost no alcohol as it makes me feel guilty but after raiding that some of you are having a glass of something yummy every week I thought I'd treat myself to a nice glass of red wine. It is divine Grin

I have a bottle if Krug champagne in the fridge for when we bring the baby home......I intend to drink some if it even if I am breast feeding.

I just popped over to the November board for a quick peek and it seems that the 27 weeker is doing well in SCBU

Wickedgirl · 15/08/2013 18:36

Flyer...... I haven't ever seen a mucus plug and this is my 4th baby! It must have come out in the toil or something in my other pregnancies. Even if you do spot it, it doesn't mean the birth is imminent sadly

Pinkforboys · 15/08/2013 18:37

Yup, Flyer, at 20weeks they said it was a girl. She zoomed in and showed me the absence of any 'protrusion' but I'm still slightly doubtful. 32 week scan next week so we'll double check! It'll be very exciting to have one of each as both my bros have two of the same. My Mum cried when she heard the news. We're pretty close so she felt emotional that I'll have a relationship like ours with little madam.

Orange- I'm impressed at your long walk! We stayed in France in a place with 4 flights of stairs between the kitchen and the pool. That was enough exercise for me per day!

I"ve missed the yoga/nutrition plans for Clapham. Sounds intriguing. It's amazing how many women change direction post-kids. What are everyone else's plans- real or dream-world...?
