Haha Clapham yes I'm a total aviation geek....I wanted to be an air hostess from 8 years old.

Bridget Thanks for your miscarriage, you never forget I had one last year too, quite early on (6 weeks or so) however I still think about it. Like Clapham says its nice to know this one is nearing the end now.

claphammama · 13/08/2013 23:09

crosspost - textbook I feel like someone has cut off my arm and the silence here is deafening... but the important thing is that my little boy is so happy and having the time of his life.

And DP just managed to call to say goodnight. He actually left the meeting to do it as he knew I was on my own and feeling low. Lots of brownie points for this one. So I'm feeling very lucky and blessed despite the fact that my life hasn't gone quite according to the plan. But, at the end of the day, whose life does?!

roxvox · 13/08/2013 23:10

flyer I have seen it a few times in the past. It goes by very quickly! If you're interested in all that then there's a brilliant app called Star Walk which will show you in real time where the IIS is (as well as all of the star constellations and planets etc)

nat sorry to hear that things aren't good with your DH. I hate awkwardness in the house, so hope you work it out soon.

Rox I would love a good telescope I find it all so interesting, will download that app.

Indeed Clapham who's life does go to plan, mine never seems to Smile and how sweet of dp for being so thoughtful.....We like thoughtful men.

chickieno1 · 14/08/2013 01:46

Hope you're doing ok bridget it must be very bittersweet.

I agree re napisan! I was addicted to it. I found it at local pharmacy and it was the cheapest there I ever found it. I haven't seen anything like that here so I ll have to think of something else.

Was it earlier on this thread that people were talking about bras? What was the brand called? Was it bravado or am I dreaming ??

Hope everyone gets some sleep tonight xx

Ps good luck with first day of school falcon

And clapham we won't even talk about life plans :)

Haylebop12 · 14/08/2013 02:08

Can you believe we're 3/4 through this thread already!

Up as dd has been sick in her bed... So she's in with us as her mattress needs cleaning. So I have had to chuck out my pg pillow to allow room and now her and dh are snoring... Out of time. Think ill be getting on the sofa soon!

Sorry your feeling low nat. I know it's no consolation but we will all get it so your not alone and I'm sure you'll work it out with dh.

bridget Thanks I too had an mc last year, devestating. I sometimes think about how old the baby would be now and how my life would be different. So pleased all of us have got this far.

clapham bet ds is missing you too. Will be a lovely feeling when you're all back together :-)

I've had awful pressure down below all day today which made walking round tesco almost unbearable. I wonder if his head is engaging? Have the mw on Friday so will know for sure. I've had twinges for weeks but this is so uncomfortable I wanted to cry!

Going to pick up the carrycot that goes with out pram in the morning. As its a discontinued line (its dd's travel system bought in 2008) I've had the carrycot of eBay for... Wait for it... £20! They were £200 new so I opted not to buy that part and use the car seat on the frame as I drove everywhere. Now I walk a lot more, especially school I wanted to feel like I'd had a new pram. Hoping its good cond and a wash will make it look and feel new.

Going to try and get some sleep... Urgh!

favellio · 14/08/2013 06:12

sending out virtual hugs to all those who are feeling crap Wine Thanks Brew
if you want a giggle.....last night I was getting undressed for bed, went to take my bra off, didn't realise I'd been leaking and it was stuck. this resulted in me almost ripping off both my nipples!!! time for breast pads I think Confused

bluesnowfalcon · 14/08/2013 07:01

fav thanks I did indeed giggle and needed it! Currently sitting in bed with ds reading thread while he snuggles in to watch tv.

Also had argument with dh last night which then resulted in me laying in bed fuming for a couple of hours when I should've been sleeping - think it was only me who lost sleep over it though!

Hope everyone feeling rubbishy has a better day today and here is a hug in a mug for everyone who could do with it Brew

HotSoupDumpling · 14/08/2013 07:08

Clapham, glad your DH rang. It rally is the thoughtfulness that makes us feel less alone and weepy and hormonal!

I've been in a super grouch hormonal mood lately. I try and tell my DP that it doesn't take long time for him to cheer me up, just a bit of thoughtfulness to make a two minute phone-call during the day!

Am off to see these Bravado bras later this week. I currently only have one bra that fits me well. Eek

This might sound a bit trite, but I just wanted to send Flowers to any lurkers or bus passengers who may have suffered miscarriages but not wanted to say anything on the board. I know some of us at the beginning had problems (and some are on new buses) and I really wish them the best of luck.

pinkbuttons · 14/08/2013 08:52

Thats lovely of your DH clapham hope your able to get some rest and enjoy having a break although can imagine it must be awful with them both being away. Ive only had a few nights away from DS and I always look forward to getting a break bt then spend the whole time missing him. Do something to treat yourself!

Ouch favellio!! that sounds painful are you ok?! I spent my day yesterday in a top with a dried white patch over my right nipple including going to the shopsBlush must have leaked early in the day and not noticed until DH came home and helpfully pointed it out.
natalie glad midwife was ok although annoying not to get proper answers. and sorry to hear about your DH beong an arse hope your feeling better today. If it helps hes not the only one, mine is being extremely frustrating at the moment complaining about how tired he is Hmm I dont even have the energy for an argument but Im at the point of just being annoyed whenever he talks (this may be my irritabillity though) Think they just dont realise how difficult this stage is with sfill having a couple of months to go but being exhausted/not sleeping well/being uncomfortable. sorry for personal rant but I hope yours is being nicer today!

Cant remember who else was potty training toddlers but wanted to ask for any tips on keeping them dry at night? My DS has been dry 6/7 nights for a couple of months but has wet the bed 5 times in the past week. not sure whether should be waking him for a wee before we go to bed or not... sorry a bit off topic.

roofio87 · 14/08/2013 09:03

I just referred to my partner as 'dp' in real life! ! way way too much time spent on mumsnet I think hahaBlush

Flyer747 · 14/08/2013 09:23

Haha Roofio that made me laugh.Smile

I'm off work (sick day) going to go to DR's as I'm really breathless, I'm sure it's totally normal but rather go and get checked out.

Clapham I agree with pink go and treat yourself whilst on your todd, maybe some retail therapy or a indulgent facial might help.

Flyer747 · 14/08/2013 09:37

Any recommendations on the baby monitor front? I was considering the Motorola one with a video but not sure what you experienced mums have and would suggest?

PseudoBadger · 14/08/2013 09:40

Glad you're getting checked Flyer.

I have the Angelcare monitor as DS slept on his front (and still does) as he had bad reflux.

pinkbuttons · 14/08/2013 09:40

haha roofio Im in danger of doing this soon too.

Sorry your still feeling rubbish flyer good idea to go to the Drs to check yourself over, hope your feeling better after a day at home.

Forgot to say earlier but good luck to those with little ones starting school today! x

TheFalconsmistress · 14/08/2013 10:07

Well thats my firstborn away to school feel emotional but happy for him even though he is the baby of the year he so needs it! :)

nat hope you are feeling better soon Flowers

Wickedgirl · 14/08/2013 10:10

I hope that those of you having a tough time have a better day today

I didn't get a push present with my other. 3 so won't be expecting anything other than a new baby this time either.

I am donating my placenta......I have done in the past too. It's not like either the baby or I will need it. When I had my first baby, I asked to look at the placenta as I was curious about what it would like like. Since then I have seen lots of placentas (I worked on a maternity unit for a while) so I'm not fussed about seeing mine this time around.

Wickedgirl · 14/08/2013 10:13

Falcon......I hope your day goes quickly. It is sad (but happy) when your babies start full time school. Two of mine are in secondary school and are very independent which is obviously good but makes me feel a bit sad that my babies are growing up fast

TheFalconsmistress · 14/08/2013 10:44

Lucky they are only in for half day for a week or so wicked full days start at the end of august! by then i will be needing the break I think!
Time does fly It makes you enjoy every minute though

xuntitledx · 14/08/2013 11:15

Re. baby monitor, we got the Motorola Blink 1 which has the built-in video and remote Wi-Fi access.

www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerms/MOTOROLA+BLINK.htm

It was a ballache for hubby to set up (and he's normally very good at those types of things!) but once set up, it's easy to use and install on iPad and iPhones. Benefits for us are that hubby can tune in at work to see what we're upto and my mum lives halfway across the country from us so she can not only have a peek but speak to him aswell - love technology!!

Had a difficult night last night, felt like baby has moved very low down and felt a lot of pressure and uncomfortable movements that woke me up. Coupled with the heartburn and the multiple trips to the loo, suffice to say I did not sleep well!

Warlin · 14/08/2013 11:16

clapham sorry you're on your own but im sure ds is having a ball and just enjoy all the peace/ watching what you want on tv/ me time etc as there won't be much of that in a couple of months lol I don't eat meat either and whilst dh loves a big steak, I think placenta will be off the menu!. Not that is is meat, is it?? I am keen to see it but I'm sure it will be the last thing on my mind. I would quite like to store it in case of any childhood illnesses but think I'd get some strange looks here if I asked any questions. Surely cord donation/ placenta storage should be talked about my midwives?

kiwee I love the idea of having the same midwife from start to finish. I have only had 2 mw appointments and both with different mws.

I got a push present from dh last time...I got a generous voucher for House of Fraser which meant I could buy lots of new clothes once the weight started to come off. I really appreciated it. Have told dh not to get me as much this time but I think something small is appropriate after what we ladies go through!

I've just had enough of work at this stage...3 more weeks after this one to go. I'm really struggling to be in anyway productive and have too much else on my mind! I'm starting to stress about how ds will take to the new arrival.

Can I ask some name advice? So we like the names Edward and Matthew but are currently swaying towards Matthew. We gave ds1 a middle name from fil and this time I'm really keen to give my dad's name as the middle name. Problem is my dad is called Alan which a) I'm not that keen on and b) it went ok with Edward but doesn't go as well with Matthew. What would you do? arghh why is it so difficult

flyer hope you feel a bit better later. Flowers

legallyblond · 14/08/2013 12:26

Where are the people whose little ones start school today? Here (South West England) they all start in first week of Sept and it was the same where we used to live (London). I assumed it was the same across the whole of the UK inc Scotland, Wales and NI!

Wickedgirl · 14/08/2013 12:31

Scotland break up before us and therefor go back much earlier than us too

Natalieand · 14/08/2013 12:35

Dh and I are more on speaking terms at last. I went to bed after posting last night he came up stairs and gave me a cuddle and I had a good cry and explained all my frustrations today has been alot calmer and now were off out to get some lunch together. Thanks for all the Flowers

legally I'm down south between Portsmouth and Brighton and kids start back first week of sept here too xx

I had the fisher price lights monitor for dd and will just re use that this time x

I've introduced the idea to dh that a 'push present' is the done thing so the seed has been planted lol.

I think Matthew Alan goes nicely together but if u aren't happy with it what about using your dads middle name if that's a better alternative? X

JellyCurls · 14/08/2013 12:41

Oh my word, baby seems to have dropped further down so cramps, braxton hicks and backache have increased today. This is so last baby for us!

Whoever asked about dc2 being born in membrane sack. He was born so quickly mw didn't have time to check. 2 hours from being told not in labour to holding my gorgeous bundle, poor woman didn't even have a chance to get her apron on
