Just Shagging Grads, here is your shiny new Fred!

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The last thread saw plenty of births and we've got loads of new Grads to add to the mix. Bring on the TMI posts, the midnight moans, the birthwatches and the pom poms!

Our stats thread is here, so if you find us, please add your stats too.

There is also a Just Mumming thread for grads of the grads thread

And if you want to find out what Just Shagging is about or catch up with the undergrads go say hello to the Just Shaggers here, now on the 17th thread.

In our neck of the woods, DS and his little buddy are the only 2 boys in our group of friends. The rest are all girls, even those coming up!

We're kind of even as to those who find out and those who don't, DH and I are in the not finding out camp if only so DH gets the joy of telling me what we've been blessed with. I loved seeing his face the last time.

I'm terrified of the teenage DD years though, I was a bloody nightmare and put my parents through hell so would fully anticipate the same with any daughter of mine. I can see DH going out and buying a shotgun straight away.

I'd love 3 but DH is adamant he wants two. It's weird because people say to me "but what happens if you have 3 boys?" and I knew instantly that it's not the sex but the number. I'm middle of 3 and I loved that growing up and we're a very close family, especially since losing my younger DB to cancer last year.

Having said that, living on a small, very expensive island, means that trips back to the UK will get eye wateringly expensive if we have 3!

Hello all Smile

Feels likes it been ages since i have been on here, not much to report, i am 7+1 today touch wood, no sickness (which i great as i really can't stand being sick) some slight nausea, very tired still, and sore bruised boobs feeling. Have heard nothing from the doctors or the midwives with regards to booking in Hmm will wait another week before i make the phone call.

Hope all is well!!

Kittenkatzen · 16/08/2013 19:07

Sorry been out all day just getting round to fb invites now.

Not caught up properly yet but just have to say EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy at stroke being in the caymans!

Strokethefurrywall · 16/08/2013 19:21

Sorry Kitten don't mean to make you Envy

It is great here and a wonderful place to have kids but it can be a little claustrophobic at times! And of course everyone knows your business - most people know I'm pregnant just by virtue of the goldfish bowl element of the island!

Cookie I'm very Envy that you've got no sickness! I'm making eyes for the bathroom as I type. Bleurgh. 8 weeks tomorrow, come on placenta, get doing your job!!!

Nessalina · 16/08/2013 19:58

Aha! Good to know Downstairs - relatively harmless then, hurrah! Smile
I've been an emotion-fuelled wreck today Sad - had a spat with a girl at wok and cried for literally an hour! How embarrassing! Blush

Nessalina · 16/08/2013 19:59

Lol, that's a girl at WORK, not WOK. God, I need a glass of wine - waaaaaah!!!

Oh, it was silly. I had to deal with a complaint that took me about 4hrs and had to properly suck up to this horrible customer and pay some compensation so she didn't go nuclear, and then when I told my colleague she basically told me I was a corporate mug for not telling the customer to fuck off instead of paying compensation. I'm the only one in branch who deals with complaints and if I don't get them right then the whole branch can lose out, and I take a lot of aggro over it, so I was basically like, why the fuck do I even bother making the effort?! Ok, I'm getting rage again...Hmm

PrincessKitKat · 17/08/2013 08:24

Morning all,
Very boring week, nothing has been happening except waves of nausea and putting on FOUR POUNDS. In a week. It's my own fault, I've been chuffing down junk like there's no tomorrow but it's got to stop.

Oh I did get my 12 week scan appointment - 26 Sept! Exciting!

Ness, I'm sure we must work for the same employer!! Ignore stupid colleague, she should have deal with it if she's got all the answers Hmm

roodles84 · 17/08/2013 09:15

Morning! I meant to weigh myself first thing this morning, but I forgot so I'll have to remember tomorrow morning. I'm feeling more chunky than last week so I'm expecting a big number. I looked up the expected weight gain over the course of the pregnancy and it's basically naff all until 12 weeks so I can't really use that excuse yet!

I made my booking in appt yesterday - 5th Sept. The receptionist said it's a 1 hour appt? I don't understand what could take an hour (but then I am normally in and out at the doctors, I don't really stop and chat).

thethreeblondies · 17/08/2013 11:10

Everywhere has slightly different first midwife appointments ours is a hour long booking in appointment, I was told to collect maternity notes from doctors and fill in as much as possible (medical history etc) then midwifes go through it all with u, take bloods etc to get u in tge system, but everywhere does seem slightly different.

On the weight front I'm up to about a stone gain at 31 weeks (probably a bit more but taking the word of my dodgy scales!) but about half of that was already on at 12 weeks, the only thing that stopped nausea was eating Grin

Nessalina · 17/08/2013 13:24

Yeah, booking apt 45mins for me apparently. The receptionist was quite funny, she said 'oh, if you like you can pick up the pack in advance to start filling it in, you sound quite keen!' Confused Can't believe I'm in the minority being keen!!
Didn't know they'd take blood though - bleurgh, I hate that!! ick ick

PrincessKitKat · 17/08/2013 17:38

When I asked about choosing hospitals & what i should look for the MW looked at me like I was an alien - I don't think she'd ever been asked before?!
I get the impression they're only really interested if you're unsupported, on drugs or the father is a blood relative. They ask some mind-boggling questions!

Hooya · 18/08/2013 11:10

Ooh loads going on here!

notso that's lovely about you having a nursery for the new baby, congratulations Smile you must feel proud!

Stroke I'm in Tokyo - it's lovely but really too hot! It must be beautiful where you are but I can see the small community thing being a blessing and a curse... same in reverse with Tokyo being so massive!

I was totally sure I was having a girl for no reason whatsoever and I was wrong, it's a boy! I'm kind of relieved as our girl name is one that we absolutely adore but most people would have hated, so may have saved ourselves some bother...

kitten how are you feeling? Are you getting the attractive swollen feet I am suffering from every second day? And how crazy are the baby movements now, I keep being distracted mid conversation by mine!

I can't think about weight gain, mine has been unbelievable. I don't look THAT huge but the numbers are just enormous. I've already met my trainer for post-baby emergency fix plans - she says I can start 4-6 weeks post C-section...

Nessalina · 18/08/2013 11:19

Morning all Smile
What do you do in Tokyo Hooya? That's a very exciting place to live! I went on a trip to Japan two years ago and absolutely loved it. Was sneakily planning another trip but doubt that'll happen for a while now!

PrincessKitKat · 18/08/2013 16:23

Hooya I'm very impressed with your post baby workout plans! I suspect I will consider it to be a success if baby K and I are washed and dressed before dinner-time at 4-6 weeks!!

cookielove · 18/08/2013 20:36

Grrrr to my rubbish doc's no sign of a booking in appointment for me I am 7+3 today.

Back from In-laws so tired! !

Nessalina · 18/08/2013 22:49

That's weird cookie! Are you waiting for them to call you and they aren't, or are you asking any they're refusing?
I'm 4+4 and I'm booked in for my 8th week, so surely they should have sorted you out by now?! Hmm

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 18/08/2013 23:28

cookie my booking in was at 10 weeks, don't panic (although I totally understand your impatience!)

Not much to report here - very nervous suddenly about 20 week scan on Tues; no movement yet and not really showing, and didn't get to hear hb at 16 week scan (it's 'not policy' at my hospital Hmm) so have of course reverted to thinking that the worst has happened. This is what it's like now, isn't it? Constant bloody worrying about everything. Bloody kids. Grumble grumble grumble... Grin

OP posts:
Nessalina · 18/08/2013 23:31

Heheh! Isn't that what MN is for? The grumbling? Grin
I'm sure it'll be fine Humpty! How exciting! Smile

cookielove · 19/08/2013 07:35

I went to thw docs when I was 6 weeks to get the ball rolling. I choose what hospital and he took my blood pressure. Then he has to refer me. I am now waiting the referal which I assume will come by post.

MrsAVB · 19/08/2013 08:42

My booking was at 10 weeks too cookie, I went to the GP around the same time as you and they told me to call if I hadn't had a letter by 9 weeks.
My stupid boobs are expanding again and sore, I'm already growing out of the bras I've bought since being pg, annoying!
Have a good day all x

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/08/2013 09:21

cookie it should do yes. Mine came, and I had to call them to double check it was just booking in, not a scan as well (cos it was a bit later than I'd expected!) - took me 45 mins on hold...

MrsAVB mine too - it's bloody expensive, and annoying, eh? I don't have boobs anymore, I have HOOTERZ.

Morning all, hope everyone had lovely weekends

Exciting news on getting scan and booking in dates through for some of you! I've found it amazing how different the schedule (and sometimes quality) of care seems to be across the country. I'm in Sussex and had a pre-booking with the community mw at my gp surgery at 6wks, followed by a proper booking in and bloods at the hosp at 8wks, then first scan at 12wks. I thought that wasn't too bad, but some of you seem to get left waiting ages between appointments.

On the weight front, I'm up a stone and a half at 36wks which I'm quite pleased with. I did put a lot of that on fairly quickly though - a good half stone by 12wks (as blondies said, junk food = nausea management, so I just went with it). The gain seems to have tailed of after about 30wks, but that could have been because the minging hot weather meant I wasn't hungry, so whilst bump has been growing nicely, I've maybe evened things up by sweating off losing a few pounds of personal chub at the same time!

kitkat I got the same weird look from the community mw when I asked about hospital choices...I went with recommendations from friends in the end. However, she WAS really helpful when I came to look at alternative births, and couldn't speak highly enough of the mw led centre we've ended up going with, so maybe it's just that they see hospitals as pretty much all the same?

hooya OMG YES to the attractive cankles! DH keeps calling me elephant woman, hilarious man that he is Hmm. Have your fingers swollen too? I'm wearing my wedding rings on my little finger today as I thought my ring finger was about to fall off through lack of circulation! The baby movements are mental at the moment - s/he likes to poke their bum right out for a rub Grin and have an occasional drumming session on my bladder which is comfortable - not!

humpty good luck for your scan tomorrow - what time is it booked for? Try not to worry (haha, yeah I know!) - I had lunch with MIL and her friend at about 23wks and they spent the whole time telling me how Not Pregnant I looked, and that they wouldn't have offered me a seat on the train.....plus at 20wks I could only really feel movement if sat very still and concentrating. If baby is facing backwards then there won't be much for you to feel anyway :)

Sorry for the epic post - first time I've logged on using a laptop in forever, got a bit carried away!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 19/08/2013 09:58

kitten wow, that's amazing - a stone and a half? You've been so restrained. I'm sure you'll be so glad when the baby arrives, that you have hardly any to lose (I speak as one who really should have lost 2 stone before I got upduffed... Oh well, add it to the baby weight tally of what to get rid of next year!)

Thank you for the reassuring words about movements - I felt something last night, after all my moaning, but I do have to concentrate hard to locate it and be sure what it is! The combination of tall and fat does not lead to early bumps/feeling lots of movement, I fear!
